Free Short Story Promotions Are Continuing Through the Summer

Hello there everyone! I wanted to update you all about what is going on.

First off, I am slowly working my way through polishing the final draft of the dark fantasy Once Upon a Time in Boston. And I am also revising an old silly spy story Sam & Miguel’s Run and a horror book Palm’s Inn for Kindle Unlimited enrollment. And all of this will be done when it’s done. Right now, I am working on all of this book stuff when time allows. Life has been very busy lately.

But beyond that, I wanted to do something to help advertise my stuff. Last summer I did weekly free short story promotions, and over the course of those months I gave away 111 short stories total. And I thought, “Why not do that this year again?” It may help me get some reviews on Amazon and Goodreads. And also, I have to honest here. I don’t make any money with these things. I wish I made more than pocket change and could make a living off of storytelling. But there is no sign of that ever happening in the near future. So why not run a bunch of free story promos so that people can have a chance to read them? It certainly couldn’t hurt.

Last week, I ran a promotion on the dark fantasy tale, Alice: Winter’s Story. And I think I will continue the promotions for the Alice series over the next couple of weeks. This week, the free short story will be Alice: Stone’s Story. It’s about a different Alice set in the same dark Wonderland. I will post the synopsis down below.

Alice: Stone’s Story
Wonderland is broken, and every Alice who stumbles in is trapped in a nightmare world. Some Alices become fighters. Other becomes con artists scrapping by. Alice Stone is a coward. An ex card soldier for the Red Queen, who is running from her captures hoping to find somewhere safe. But when she reaches Diamond City, the last free city of Wonderland, she will have to find her courage to survive.

This story will be FREE on Kindle from May 26th to May 30th. You can find it at https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0776MR6CC

And that is what I have to share this week. I hope you enjoy this news. And I hope you all have a great week. I will be back blogging more soon.

What's Coming Next & A Free Book Promo

Hello there. It has been a long time since I posted any news. And I apologize for that. I have been really busy lately. The economy is finally bouncing back and with jobs finally hiring again, I have been chasing every opportunity I see and been hoping to nab something. I have been unemployed way too long guys. I really want a job. So with my stories, momentum have been quite limited lately, but that doesn’t mean nothing is happening.

I have mainly focused on the dark fantasy horror tale Once Upon a Time in Boston. It has went through many drafts, and after so many critiques at the Scribophile writing community, I think I may be proceeding onto the final draft. It is most definitely going to be the next tale to be published and thrown out into the wilds of the Kindle market for your entrainment. But I feel it still may be a while though. Polishing this final draft will be a little more in depth than usual, and this story has become massive over all the drafts and rewrites. So it is going be a while, and I apologize for that. If I had an actual income from these stories, I would work on these on a nine to five schedule and get things done a lot faster.

While working on Once Upon a Time in Boston, I have been slacking on revising some of my older stuff. Though most of the mess from my younger days have been sorted out, there’s still a little bit of more work to be done. So to break up the tedium of Once Upon a Time in Boston, I will probably start bouncing between that project to the revision of Palm’s Inn and Sam & Miguel’s Run. I know that slows things down further, but I am scattered brained and it helps me to stay motivated to jump between multiple projects. I can’t explain it. It helps me edit and cuts down the monotony.

And what is happening next after all of this? There is a draft of a spooky tale called Nowhere, I began working on. But after a bunch of negative reviews and realizing how much work needs to be put into it, I decided to put that on hold for a while. Instead I really want to work on a short story called The Siren on Berry Avenue. It’s a very Young Adult sort of story. It’s a lighter hearted tale with monsters in it. It’s has a slight Buffy sort of vibe. It seems fitting to do a story like this next, because it seems we’re finally coming out of the pandemic, and the last three stories I worked on in the year in quarantine and isolation were about a quarantined city being ate alive by a disease that mangles it’s victims into mutants, a serial killer who stalks the nightmare of a little girl, and a wintery world where humanoid bird monsters devour souls. So yeah. I’m ready to shift gears and work on something more light hearted. I am really hoping to get a draft cleaned up and posted on Scrib to collect a series of reviews while I work on the final draft of Once Upon a Time in Boston.

Beyond that, I have been brainstorming about new ways to advertise my stuff. Self-marketing has always been my weak point. But until I figure out a new method as a way to have any sales, I think I am going to do a free story promotion. Hopefully it will get me a review or two on Goodreads. I think it will be on Alice: Winter’s Story. I’ll post the synopsis down

The world of Wonderland has been broken for two decades. The looking glasses are broken. The red queen has taken a tyrannical reign over the land. And every Alice who stumbles into Wonderland is trapped there with no way home. This story follows Alice Winters as she travels through west to through Checkerboard Desert searching for the fabled key to unlock the original mirror to go home. But the desert is one of the roughest places of Wonderland. Cut throats are at every turn. Bounty hunters want to deliver her head to the queen and the monsters of Wonderland stand in the way of her mission.

It will be Free from May 19th to May 23rd on Kindle. You can find it @ https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01KRF9KWQ

And that is all I have for this week. I know it’s not the most exciting news, but there is free story promotion and promise that new stuff is on the way. I hope you are all doing well and that you all have a great week. And hope to have more exciting stuff to share in the near future.

Updates on Works in Progress & a Free Book Promotion

Hey everyone! I wanted to do another update blog and I have a lot to share so let’s get started.

First of all, I want to share updates on both Nowhere and Once Upon a Time in Boston. Recently I have mostly been digging through a mountain of critiques for these two projects. And the results are not quite what I expected. Nowhere, which is a very short story, is what I expected to polish up for publication next. But the reviews for the story was mixed to negative. They basically all stated, “It’s a good idea, but it needs a lot of work.” So there’s going to have to be a lot more reworking to whip it in shape so it won’t be arriving anytime soon. Then for Once Upon a Time in Boston, the critiques have been very positive but the ending needs work according to everyone. So the story needs an expansion and some reworking in the finale as well as a few minor tweaks here and there throughout the story. That will need another round of critiques for the finale after I figure out how to make it better. So somehow, Once Upon a Time in Boston may be actually be closer to any sort of publication than Nowhere despite its very long length.

Also, I must admit I have been lazy lately when it comes to revisions. I know there’s a couple short stories and novels that need revision. But after finishing the Nel & the Tower Spirits, I needed a break. And now that it’s been a while, I’m ready to dive back in. Soon I will be revising Palm’s Inn and Sam & Miguel’s Run next. So those should be cleaned up and enrolled in Kindle Unlimited in the future.

Lastly, as I have been trying to figure out how to get these stories in the hands of people, I have invested more time in Twitter the last three weeks. I have had twitter for years and posted about my books here and there, but never really engaged. For years I only had a 100 followers, and never really looked into using hashtags or engaging into conversations of any sort. But recently I have been engaging with other writers, posting more updates and engaging in #writerlifts for advertising, and in that short time, followers have increased. So I wanted to do an experiment. I want to run a free short story promotion to see how well it does in one of these #writerlifts. So I decided to do this with Meteor City. In science fiction short stories it ranked at #101 for a weekend during a similar promotion on Amazon last summer without the aid of Twitter. So I want to give it a second try with Twitter and see what happens. I will post the synopsis below.

"Decades ago, a meteor shower hit a metropolis shattering homes and lives of many. With the meteors, the storm also brought a deadly disease that tortures and mutate those infected. As it spread, the walls were put up around the city to quarantine it from the rest of the world. And as the years went on the city, now known as Meteor City, was ignored and willfully forgotten by the United States. But it somehow continued to thrive.

Jo is a photographer within the walls of Meteor City. She goes through the dirt and muck to get shots for the front page of the local paper. She specializes in shots of the most horribly mangled infected in the city. She's brash, spunky, and her luck has run out. After cashing in on shots of an infected serial killer known as the Bloody Man, her home is broken into by a new meteorite afflicted individual. It’s a fight she barely survives, but not all in one piece as she becomes infected herself. Hoping the doctors can stop her terrible fate, her world start falling apart around her. Kidnappings are happening over the city, and she may have to risk everything to save someone she loves."

It will be free on Kindle from April 22nd to April 26th, and can be found at https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08CKB5GL7

Beyond that there is not a lot. I want to do a lot of things. I want to try something new with the audio content I have. I am also eager to get more stories out there. I love to put Siren on Berry Ave out. I want to get it shared on writing communities and start getting critiques. But I really need to focus on Boston for now. If I learned anything in my writing adventures, it’s that self-publishing is worthless if you don’t do all the proper work before getting it out there.

Anyways, that is all I have. I hope you all have a good week!

Nel & the Tower of Spirits and Other Updates

Hello everyone. It has been a while since the last blog, but now it’s back with another round of updates. So let’s get started.

First of all, let’s talk about Nel & the Tower of Spirits. It’s a story that was self-published among other projects when I was way too young and naïve about the literary world to know that it wasn’t ready yet. It’s part of the mess of a bigger mess I have been spending much of the last year cleaning up, and I’m reaching a point where almost everything is squared away finally. Where many of these early projects were unpublished because they were not all that good, Nel was unique enough and good enough to go through the revision process instead. And finally, after weeks, the revision is done. I’m rereleasing it at a new price of $.99 and am enrolling it into the Kindle Unlimited. Now people can read it at little or no cost. It is one of my earliest works and I feel it is not on par with most of the stuff I write today, so I don’t see a reason for it to have a high price point at all. It’s a cute, kinda kiddy fantasy that I hope some of you will enjoy. You can find it at https://www.amazon.com/dp/B013L9A6DM

Beyond that critiques are trickling in for the short stories Nowhere and Once Upon a Time in Boston. I intend to start diving into these critiques soon. And hopefully I will be able to polish one of them up for release on Kindle in the near future. They are both spooky tales, so it will be a change of pace compared the fantasies I worked on last year.

And that is all I have this week. Sorry that I don’t have more to share. But I hope to have more soon. Have a good week everyone!

Ordinary World Will Be Free for a Short While

Hello everyone. I know this is an odd day to post a blog. I typically do so on a Sunday. But I decided midweek to do a small promotion, making Ordinary World free for a few days, and I didn’t want to wait until Sunday to start the promo it because I’m only allotted five days maximum for a promotion and I wanted this to go through the weekend. So I am starting it now.

So what is Ordinary World? I will post the synopsis down below.
Mya and Malcom have a very unique profession. They dive in and out of heads of various clients to remove phobias and mental illnesses. But when they attempt to pull off a tough job, Malcom's consciousness becomes trapped inside the mind of a mental patient and Mya has no idea of how to get her husband back. It seemed hopeless and he was destined to waste away in someone else's head. Then a rich man shows up on her door step. He claims he has a way to save her husband and will do so, if she will help cure his granddaughter.

The ebook will be FREE from March 25th to March 29th, and you can claim the short story at https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08GS44H1J

And that is all I have to share for now. Sorry that there hasn’t been much news lately. I have just been really tied up with life. But I hope to have more thrilling news to share with all of you in the future. Have a great weekend everyone!

An Update About What's In The Works

Hello there everyone! It’s been a couple weeks, and I wanted to update all of you about what is going on.

First of all, I am hard at work on a couple new things. One is that that I am working hard on the dark fantasy horror Once Upon a Time in Boston. The critiques I got for the early draft was positive yet nearly all of then felt it was lacking in character development for the lead and certain parts felt rushed. Which is more than fair. It’s a very weird experiment of a tale. So I am currently expanding it, sewing up plot holes, and doing another round of general editing before submitting the new draft for feedback. Also I submitted another smaller horror short called Nowhere to Scribophile. I have not had looked at the reviews for it yet. But I suspect, seeing how this story is a much smaller project than Once Upon a Time in Boston, this will likely be self-published first.

Then I am also revising Nel and The Tower of Spirits. This is one of the earliest books I ever self-published. And unlike many of those early novel publication mistakes, it is not bad. There are minor mistakes here and there, but not distractingly so. Its scifi fantasy that really does reflect my teenage mindset at the time it was written, and looking back on it now, I can say it’s not bad. It’s not the masterpiece I felt it was at the time, but it’s simple and cute. It would work perfectly well as a kid book. Right now, I am half way through the revision. And once done, I am going to re-release this as a short story and at much lower cost because it is not on par with everything I write today.

And lastly you, you may have notices the past three weeks, I stopped sharing audio story chunks. Its because I have been looking at the stats for the last two years lately and it no one has been listening to them. I completely understand why. They are rough and not the highest quality by any means. I am getting nothing done as I go down this road. Now I am still recording. Its officially part of my editing process. But I’m going to do something with the recordings. All that audio can be used for something, and I have a few ideas bouncing around about what to do with them. I will try a few of them out when I have more time.

And that is what is in the works. I’m sorry I don’t have anything amazing to share this week. But now that all the short story revisions are basically done, I’m down much longer projects so they take more time. I hope you have a great week everyone.

Nightmares & Dragonflies is Now Published.

Hey everyone! It’s time for another round of updates and I actually had some fun stuff to share this week. What is it? Well it’s the fact that a new anthology is published in ebook form. It’s called Nightmares & Dragonflies. It’s a collection of the last of the old short stories alongside a couple new ones. It will be the last one for a long while. I will need to have at least eight works to have for a new anthology. And I’m a little slow at getting new stories out there to have a collection any time soon. I will post the synopsis down below.

Mya is a dreamwalker and must take one more job her husband's soul. A teenager with super powers must journey through the frozen Alaskan darkness to save his sister. A young nurse learns her boyfriend is a vampire. Texas cop Trudy Dallas has the job of hunting zombies. A scientist dares to tear apart the fabric of the universe to return home. Two journalists rush into a city as it is being attacked by giant dragonflies to get the story of the lifetime. A traveling freak show must stop the apocalypse. A girl must save her friend after he is magically pulled into a book. Its collection of short stories stretching across all genres.

This collection of eight short stories includes:
- Ordinary World
- The Tall Man
- The Emergency Patient
- Trudy Dallas & the Walking Dead
- Alice: Khoza's Tale
- June Bug Vs The Dragonflies
- The Midnight Special: To Hell & Back
- Into the West

This ebook is $3.99 or FREE on Kindle Unlimited, Check it out @ https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08XB783LP

Beyond that, the revision of Nel & the Tower of Spirits is making some progress. I’m a third of the way through. So hopefully in a month’s time, the tale will be completely revised and the new cleaner version will be enrolled into Kindle Unlimited.

And that is all I have to say share for this week. I hope you enjoy what I have to offer and I hope you all have a great week!

The Snowy Raven Apocalypse Has Been Pushed Back

Hi every one. I have some mild updates for this week. Throughout the week I have been bouncing around a lot of projects trying to get stuff done with the time allowed. So its bit scattered brained but here are the updates.

First let’s start with the next new short story that was going be up next for publication. Once Upon a Time in Boston, the snowy apocalyptic tale with ravens, will most likely not be published any time soon. As I dig further into the reviews I got on the tale, one thing has become clear. Despite the fact people are enjoying it, the world and how it works is becoming confusing as readers get into the heart of the story. It will need more reworking than I originally first thought and getting this into a perfect shape will take a lot more time as the story requires more expansion. So I will dig up a shorter or just simpler story to edit, while I am figuring out how to expand Once Upon a Time in Boston. What that short story will be, I don’t know yet. But there’s plenty of shorts on my computer to choose from, so there will be something coming to publication sooner than Once Upon a Time in Boston. I guarantee it.

Also there’s another project that has been on the editing block a lot time, and I mean a long time. Finding Elodie was a large project I started editing half way through Community College. I got ten chapters properly edited before transferring to a University and then life became really busy and the whole project was put on hold for years. Then in the last year I returned to it and I only managed to edit a couple chapters. And it has been a bit difficult. It’s hard to jump into the middle of a project after years of abandonment, to polish it to perfection and match the tone of the first half of the novel. It’s also hard to find plot holes when I don’t remember every plot aspect of something I wrote over ten years ago, and haven’t work on in seven. I think to do it properly I would have to restart the revision process from the very beginning of the story all over again. So am just going to let that project sit on desktop until I am ready to tackle something so big. I am not giving up on it by any means. It’s is a scifi tale worth getting out there. I just feel that there is more important stuff to focus on at the moment. Right now, my goal is to revise the longer projects currently on Kindle and work on short projects. When that is done I will return to the large projects again.

Lastly, I am working on pulling together another short story anthology. This one is eight more short stories and will be called Nightmares & Dragonflies. I’m hoping to get out next week. Also it will probably be the last anthology for a very long time. All but one of my shorts have been included in these collections released in the last couple years. So it will be a while until there is enough new material for a new collection

And that is all I have for this week. I know it’s not exciting, but that is what is going on. Have a good week everyone! I hope to have some fun stuff to share soon.

P.S. The last part of the audio version of Alice: Stone’s Story is posted. I know no one is listening to them and they are super rough. But I’m still sharing these editing by products until I can find a proper use for the audio content. Maybe someone will find them interesting for the time being. Its at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lrWGC...

More Books Became Part of Slaughter & a New Anthology is on the Way

Hello everyone, it has been a couple weeks since the last blog. I have been able to get a few things done in a chaotic fashion. But there are a lot of things to share. So let’s get started.

First of all, there has been a book slaughter. A lot casualties happened this time around. In addition to what was unpublished a few weeks ago, I decided to unpublish New Dawn, House of the Rising Sun and Night’s Blood. And the reasoning is the same as it was for Warped. They were part of a series of novels I self-published when I was eighteen, and I now realize that shouldn’t have happened. I should have joined a writing group and workshopped all of it. Because it’s not that good. Warped had plot holes, and was written in a childish fashion. These other three books were written around the same time as those and self-published at the same time. Just from reviewing the first few chapters, I can see that they suffer from very similar issues. So I made an executive decision to decide to only keep the best of best stuff in a published state.

But what about the rest of the novels? Well I went through the rest of the books I self-published years ago. The Covens, Powers and Poison were all workshopped and peer reviewed through writing communities. And by skimming through the books just a little bit I saw issues no on par with those super early novels. So decided to go ahead and shuffle those over onto Kindle Unlimited. They will be revised in the future, but the likely edits will be minimal compared to others.

What is left of these self-published novels are what I called grey area novels. These were self-published before college, but not right away so eagerly after I turned eighteen. And unlike those, these do have more complex and layered stories than those I have been unpublishing. And I have started revising one already, and it is not nearly as messy as those early books. These books are Nel & the Tower of Spirits, Netherworld, Palms Inn, and The Key to the Sands. And for now, I am going to keep these published. They are in process of being revised. And once each revision is done, they will be transferred to Kindle Unlimited. And if I’m wrong and one cannot be salvaged unfortunately, then it will be unpublished. But I don’t think that is going to happen with these four.

Second, the proof copy paperback of the short story anthology Flying Pigs & Witches arrived the other day and the cover turned out fairly good thankfully. So you can now get a paperback copy of that at Amazon for $9.99 if you choose. I created the paperback basically for giveaways, as I know books from indie authors are expensive to produce. But if you want a tangible copy, you now have the option. And now that I know how to format these, I’m going to do the same for The Last Witch Collection and Meteors & Monsters in the near future.

Third, I am working on pulling together another anthology. This one is another collection of eight stories and this time around, it’s called Nightmares and Dragonflies. And once this is out, it will probably be the last one for a while. I have revised almost all of my previously published shorts at this point. So it will be a long time until I have enough shorts for another collection.

And speaking of shorts, I am editing the apocalyptic tale Once Upon a Time in Boston. Though there’s a lot of work to be done as I am only on the very rough first draft, the majority of the reviews so far have been surprisingly positive. So that may be coming as a publication sometime in the next few months.

Oh in case you missed it, Somewhere Beyond the Sea is Free because Valentines Day until the 16th. (I did share this in a previous post) Be sure to check it out at https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01C7X0D90

And that is what I have to share this week. I hope it you enjoyed the news, and Free book. Hopefully next blog will be a little more positive and be more about new fun stuff, not about cleaning up all the mistakes I made when I was younger. Have a good week everyone! And happy Valentine’s Day!

P.S. The audio project is still going until I have a clear idea and time to do something new with this content. Right now part 7 of Alice: Stone’s Tale is @ https://youtu.be/u0_GLy7kd8E
