More Books Became Part of Slaughter & a New Anthology is on the Way
Hello everyone, it has been a couple weeks since the last blog. I have been able to get a few things done in a chaotic fashion. But there are a lot of things to share. So let’s get started.
First of all, there has been a book slaughter. A lot casualties happened this time around. In addition to what was unpublished a few weeks ago, I decided to unpublish New Dawn, House of the Rising Sun and Night’s Blood. And the reasoning is the same as it was for Warped. They were part of a series of novels I self-published when I was eighteen, and I now realize that shouldn’t have happened. I should have joined a writing group and workshopped all of it. Because it’s not that good. Warped had plot holes, and was written in a childish fashion. These other three books were written around the same time as those and self-published at the same time. Just from reviewing the first few chapters, I can see that they suffer from very similar issues. So I made an executive decision to decide to only keep the best of best stuff in a published state.
But what about the rest of the novels? Well I went through the rest of the books I self-published years ago. The Covens, Powers and Poison were all workshopped and peer reviewed through writing communities. And by skimming through the books just a little bit I saw issues no on par with those super early novels. So decided to go ahead and shuffle those over onto Kindle Unlimited. They will be revised in the future, but the likely edits will be minimal compared to others.
What is left of these self-published novels are what I called grey area novels. These were self-published before college, but not right away so eagerly after I turned eighteen. And unlike those, these do have more complex and layered stories than those I have been unpublishing. And I have started revising one already, and it is not nearly as messy as those early books. These books are Nel & the Tower of Spirits, Netherworld, Palms Inn, and The Key to the Sands. And for now, I am going to keep these published. They are in process of being revised. And once each revision is done, they will be transferred to Kindle Unlimited. And if I’m wrong and one cannot be salvaged unfortunately, then it will be unpublished. But I don’t think that is going to happen with these four.
Second, the proof copy paperback of the short story anthology Flying Pigs & Witches arrived the other day and the cover turned out fairly good thankfully. So you can now get a paperback copy of that at Amazon for $9.99 if you choose. I created the paperback basically for giveaways, as I know books from indie authors are expensive to produce. But if you want a tangible copy, you now have the option. And now that I know how to format these, I’m going to do the same for The Last Witch Collection and Meteors & Monsters in the near future.
Third, I am working on pulling together another anthology. This one is another collection of eight stories and this time around, it’s called Nightmares and Dragonflies. And once this is out, it will probably be the last one for a while. I have revised almost all of my previously published shorts at this point. So it will be a long time until I have enough shorts for another collection.
And speaking of shorts, I am editing the apocalyptic tale Once Upon a Time in Boston. Though there’s a lot of work to be done as I am only on the very rough first draft, the majority of the reviews so far have been surprisingly positive. So that may be coming as a publication sometime in the next few months.
Oh in case you missed it, Somewhere Beyond the Sea is Free because Valentines Day until the 16th. (I did share this in a previous post) Be sure to check it out at https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01C7X0D90
And that is what I have to share this week. I hope it you enjoyed the news, and Free book. Hopefully next blog will be a little more positive and be more about new fun stuff, not about cleaning up all the mistakes I made when I was younger. Have a good week everyone! And happy Valentine’s Day!
P.S. The audio project is still going until I have a clear idea and time to do something new with this content. Right now part 7 of Alice: Stone’s Tale is @ https://youtu.be/u0_GLy7kd8E
