Fairy Tale Romance
I read an article once from a person who was belittling fairy tale romances, but I grew up on them and I loved them. Who wouldn't want a dashing prince to rescue the fair damsel in distress?

Of course, when I was young, riding my bike to the elementary school, a vicious neighborhood bully attacked me and I had no handsome prince to rescue me. I was horribly, horribly shy. So what did I do? I stood up to the bully. And got a fist in my face, was knocked off my bicycle and went home crying.
But that's not the end of the tale. I still loved fairy tale stories. I loved the idea that a prince would come to my rescue. But I also knew that in my heart if my prince was being beset upon by ogres and trolls, I would be there too, helping him to fight them off.
I think some of that came from my mother, who while we were watching a movie where the villains were beating up on the hero, the heroine stood helplessly by and screamed with her hands to her cheeks.
Ugh. And my mother, God love her, was yelling at the woman to grab a lamp, hit the bad guy on the head, help the poor hero!
It's funny how our life situations make us what we are, and for me, it was the notion that a woman stands up for herself, isn't some weeping heroine that has to have a fairy tale prince make everything right for her, but he's definitely part of the equation.
So who wouldn't want a fairy tale prince whether at the height of danger or when they're exploring other options...as long as the woman is just as much a part of the adventure as the hero?
Yeah, gotta love them! And now the best part??? I get to write my very own versions!!!

Mexia has already done much more than most school- trained mages when she and her companions had gone in search of the scepter of salvation. But now one of the apprentices of the evil wizard they had destroyed, has stolen his spell book and plans to take up where he had left off, and she has to try and stop him.
Mexia believes the only way for her to defeat the mage is to become school trained like he was with the eventual goal of becoming a high wizard--the first of her kind in Inherian. But the current headmaster denies her entrance because she's a woman. Though if she can get the former headmaster's recommendation, she may attend.
And that's the beginning of the trouble.
First, there's the wizard.
Then, the immovable headmaster.
And then, the circle of misfortunes.
It all goes downhill from there...

Everybody was Sick!

I ended up working 9-9 yesterday because everyone was sick. One came in half an hour late, then worked late to help me cover the desk because it was going to be just me otherwise. Another came in 5 hours late, and she and I covered until closing last night. The other left six hours early.
So it was a....MONDAY!!!
But because of working all day--I'm way off on my schedule for having done ANYTHING!
So I'm rushing just to get to work tonight. I'll be glad to work only 8 hours today! The good news is I'll be able to take off 4 hours on my long night! Not the late part of it though...just the earlier part!
Have a super Tuesday!!!

Research in the Amazon

See the kitty cat in the tree? It's a margay in Belize in Central America. I was watching National Geographic's jaguar film and watched a video about a black jaguar hunting a catfish that was bigger than him in the Amazon. One of the biologists who was studying the jaguars ended up with lots of parasites in his system and dysentery, which weakened him terribly. And it was so hot there. :)
The fun thing about writing a new series is learning all the interesting things you can...and I hope everyone will enjoy hearing about some of this in the new story!
I'm finding out all kinds of fun things. But the best part? I don't have to deal with the bugs and heat there, just here! :)
Do you believe it's May already??? And that means, June and Heart of the Highland Wolf is coming....oooh, and I've got to work on some more guest blogs. *sigh*
Off to a Monday! Oh, and the rain we were supposed to have yesterday? Came today!
Have a super day!!!

No Storms, but...

I had to update Firefox's browser and it slowed everything way down. Hmmm...
And then it made everything crash. Double hmmm....
But I did watch the National Geographic film on jaguars! Working on laundry, straightened up the house, and...it's back to word count on Jaguar.
I'm nearly there! And I'm working on other stuff...but I still need to read 7 more books. *sigh* I need to have more hours on a weekend when I have them off!!! What about you? Ever feel you need more weekend time during the week?
Have a super lovely Sunday!
It was supposed to storm. I see nothing but hot sun. Hmm....

Heart of the Highland Wolf
Terry Spear Reviewed by Diana Troldahl
"Terry Spear has penned a paranormal romance with all the elements needed for a decent escapist read: a misty yet modern Highland castle complete with secret tunnels and a ghost, an ancient enemy, plenty of hunky men in kilts fighting with broadswords (if only during the filming of the battle scenes), and a solid love story. HEART OF THE HIGHLAND WOLF is book seven in her Werewolf Series."

Nice morning wake up!! Okay, I'm working on The Highlander's Nymph of the Woods, and Heart of the Jaguar, and got the newsletter off, need to do 2 more blogs, pull weeds, get a cup of mandarin orange green tea, and read more on the 2 books I'm reading for the contests, and watch the National Geographic Jaguar video...and...
Hmm,...finish this blog so I can get to all the rest!!!
What about you? Have any plans for today? We're supposed to have bad storms tomorrow....so I've got to get everything I need to do on the Internet done today!!!

Woohoo! It's Friday!!!

Have a super Friday! Hopefully when I upload the newsletter this weekend, I'll get it right!!! :)
I'm off to write a little before it's time for work, but I have to say I'm reading two of the contest books at a time, and listening to an audio book also. So how do I keep all the stories straight?
Maybe I won't. If you see some futuristic mumbo jumbo, a ghostly murder, and Mr. Darby drop into Heart of the Jaguar, you'll know I couldn't keep their stories out of my story as I'm trying to read a couple of more books for the 2 contests. :)
Have a great day! :)

1 More Down--7 More to Go!

This is Elliot Clan Bear....isn't he cute?
Well, I finally finished reading another book for the two contests I'm judging. Seven more to go!!! And the time is running out.
I need to get back to Jaguar...and I was wondering--
what do you think a jaguar shifter would love to eat most?
Jaguars eat caiman, tapirs, fish, armadillos, and much more....
So what would a jaguar shifter love to eat?
Off to work on work before work... Have a super Thursday!!!
Tomorrow is TGIF!!!

Big Storms
Our storm warning system was going off all afternoon at work--Tornado watches, warnings, hail warnings, thunderstorm warnings.
I made it through one torrential rainstorm to get home to thunder and lightning and it had already poured at home. But while I was working at stuff last night, the storms started up again, my Internet went out, thankfully not my electricity. So to avoid losing my computer, I shut everything down, listened to golf ball size hail, had to be the way it was hitting the roof, and continued reading the 2nd book of the 9 I need to read for the two contests. I'm usually a lot faster reader than this!
But yesterday I was writing about pink dolphins in the Amazon in Heart of the Jaguar. We do have to have priorities, you know!!! :)

Jaguar Hobbies?
My daughter and I were brainstorming over what a jaguar shifter might like to do as a hobby.
Fishing?

Sure, that would work.
Hunting. Of course.

Climbing...

Somehow I don't see playing chess being one of their interests.
What do you think jaguar shifters would do in their free time?

Did I make my word count? No! But I had fun anyway!!! And my goal is to have half the jaguar book done by this weekend and that should be easy. And to have it all done by Memorial Day weekend. At least that's the plan! Then it's time for more wolves....
Have a super Monday! It'll be crazy at work I'm sure!
