TGIF!!!! & a Jaguar with an Easter Egg!

I'm off! And that's a reason to celebrate. Although I'm working tomorrow and that is not!

Okay, now you know I write urban fantasy, right? So some of it is pretend. Right? So we're going to pretend. While writing my wolf series, I shared pictures of real wolves on an Easter egg hunt. They had fun eating the colorful eggs.

But can you imagine finding pictures of a jaguar eating Easter eggs?

So here's as close to it as I could get. :) Just squeeze your eyes tighter, click your heels twice and repeat after me, the stripes on this tiger are spots on a jaguar, and the rock he is inspecting is one huge Easter egg.

There. And if we concentrated hard enough...we'd have it!

See?

The one already ate the whopping big Easter egg, didn't share with the other, and he's ticked off.

And that's my story and I'm sticking to it! But wait, everyone can see something different in a story. What do you see???

Happy Easter!!!!

The Bears are Off!

I've caught up on Jaguar!!! And have a start on tomorrow's word count! Woohoo! Which means I'm sure I've neglected something else. :) Just haven't figured it out! And I had a really low electric bill!!!

The small things can mean all the difference in the world! :)

Winter months are the worst. I swear they raise the cost of electricity during the winter. But this winter, despite trying to cut costs, I had to keep the heat going because of having frozen pipes and worrying about a worst disaster. Which meant a $435 electric bill. We're all electric. So this month, it was $83!!! That's the lowest it's ever been. Whew! Now, if I can just replicate that the rest of the year, how nice would that be?

Off to write! I'm 1/3 of the way done on Jaguar! And hope to have 40,000 done this weekend. By next weekend, I'll be over halfway done if I can accomplish what I hope to. And that's pretty neat too!

Anything you've done lately you're happy about too???

Do You Ever Feel that You...

Have fixed one thing and then have something...or several somethings go wrong?

Well, my electric cord to my laptop isn't working. It won't stay plugged in to the computer and I've tried everything to keep it fixed so that it works. I also ordered a replacement and I've never heard back from them.

*sigh* I spend an inordinate amount of time just trying to get the cord readjusted/blocked so it will stay on. And any little movement will shake it loose. And then not only is it not charging, but it's a very dark screen.

When I could be working on my stories and such.

I did finish the bears on Sunday, took them to work, and the customer never showed up to get them.

I didn't finish my word count on Jaguar this weekend and am still working to make it up.

I did finish one of the 9 books I need to read for contest and sent in the judging sheet. The time is running away from me.

Which means? Time to get back to writing...

Do you ever feel like one thing is accomplished and 10 more take it's place???

Three of My Werewolf Titles Made Amazon's Best Seller List!

Truly, truly, truly, thanks to all of you!!! Thank you for loving my wolves! To make the Best Seller's List, the books have to have a ranking from 1-100. I never saw when this happened.

Boohoo. :)

But, when I went to my author's page on Amazon, it shows that three titles made the Best Seller's List: Seduced by the Wolf, Wolf Fever, and Terry Spears Wolf Bundle (which includes the 1st three wolf books!!!)

So I want to say again--THANKS to all of you! Some of you review my books and help to get them out to the world. Some of you buy them and spread the word to your friends and family. And all I can say is thank you. :)

Now, my question to you is:

Can a jaguar faint?

Off to face a Monday! Hope you all have a terrific week!!!

Killing the Bloodlust, the Newsletter, and ...

Okay, so I worked and worked and worked yesterday and didn't get half of what I needed done, done. :(

The newsletter is off! I need another hot cup of tea! And my computer has got the slows. That means that when I'm trying to do anything, it takes 3 or 4 tries to accomplish it!!!

I need my computer to work faster than me. :)

Did you know that bloodlust is not considered a word. Well...in my book, it's one word--totally associated with vampires. It's fun being a writer. You can get away with making up your own words. :)

It is finally up on B&N, Amazon, and Smashwords.

Army officer Crystal Anderson can't help the draw she has to vampires, although she's supposed to be drawn to them to kill those who are renegades since she's a born huntress. But something about her is different. Ostracized from her family, she lives precariously on her own. That is until a local vampire targets her. Then she meets a fellow Army officer Robert Parker--who she believes is one of them--a vampire or blood host, or something. Suddenly, nothing is the same.

Army officer Robert Parker is on assignment at Fort Hood, Texas, trying to track down the vampire who murdered his sister after hours. When he spies Crystal coming out of a vampire house, he assumes she's a human host, and that she can lead him to his murderer. Except he's drawn to her like a hunter would be to a huntress, until he learns she's not quite right. She's fighting alone without a family of hunters' support, and he's bound to do something about it before she gets herself killed...or worse.

I did get the 1st of the trilogy of a fantastical world "uploaded." It's actually still uploading to Amazon and Smashwords. But it's now at B&N.

I have written the first 2 books and started the 3rd. :) This is also a picture of Scotland--at one of the castle gardens. :) Each of my fantasy books will have a cover of Scotland--where the Highlands are the stuff of magic.

Okay, really off to get another cup of tea, and then I'm working on Heart of the Jaguar and the bears!!! :)

Oh, and I have to say that Princess Talamaya did get a bit sidetracked from her main quest, so you'll have to tell me--was it for a good cause? Or was she just....procrastinating???

I Hadn't Planned on It, but...

I'm off to work soon, so I'll have to send the newsletter off when I get home. Too many things to be done, too little time to do them. But, this morning I did get the cover made up for Killing the Bloodlust. Don't you love this picture? I took it one morning when the sun was coming up. It makes me think of the sun taking care of the bad vampires...it's dark, ominous and fun. :)

KILLING THE BLOODLUST should be up on B&N and Amazon and Smashwords by tomorrow.

It was one of the first books I wrote about vampires... and my Rebel Romance Writer critique group said it was my niche--what I needed to write. And so that was only the beginning. However, it was my werewolf stories that really took off, although DEADLY LIAISONS, one of my vampire romantic suspenses has done really well.

But before vampires were an every day commodity, I had written my first. And it was published by a now defunct Triskelion.

I've revised it a number of times, and now I'm happily making it available for sale, along with others like HUNTRESS FOR HIRE, the start of a series, and FORBIDDEN LOVE. One day, I'll finish the sequel to DEADLY LIAISONS--DANGEROUS LIAISONS.

So the vampire world is well and alive and thriving. :)

Why self publish? I have the freedom to make my own covers or have them made. The cover was awful the first time around. The moon showed through the woman's beak of a nose. I asked for the picture to be altered a little, and now that I know how to do a little in that respect, find it really easy.

It's like a cover I have for a current release for a publisher where I sell barely anything--it's an awful cover--and I asked for the title and my name to be larger so it could be read more easily--no. Then they put the wrong name up on Amazon...and changed it so it was another wrong name. So, control. I like having a little more control over my books when I can.

In Killing the Bloodlust, the publisher asked for a synopsis. Not a book cover blurb. The synopsis is supposed to give away the important stuff for a book. The book cover blurb is supposed to lend mystery. So they gave away the gist of the story and I desperately pleaded with them to remove the synopsis and I'd send them a book cover blurb. They didn't want to do it. Said it sounded fine like it was. They finally gave in.

So definitely it's nice to have a say in your work. You've spent months writing it after all!

And money! I made nothing on the first release. Distribution sucked...thought I'd throw in a nice vampire-like term there. But truly...it wasn't worth publishing for the amount of sales or the teeny weeny percentage authors received.

And--no waiting for months and months and months for a release date.

Sure, I LOVE my publishers that I'm published with, but publishing some of my shorter works or works that have been previously sold, or works that can't be sold because:

I need an agent.
Vampires are not selling. The market is now glutted. The market will die out soon. (Yes, I've heard this for years, and you know what? I've loved Dracula ever since I was a teen! Way, way, way before vampires could be the good guys in a dark sort of way.)
Historicals are not selling.
Fantasy is not selling.

Well, you get the picture. None of it is selling....but since I'm finding that's not true at all, I'm happily self publishing!!!

Have a super day! I'm off to work at the regular day job...and then? It's bear making and back to jaguars! The sexy shifter kind. :)

Ebook Description Melissa Winston is trying to stay alive until the police can prove her ex-fiance murdered his own wife. But when Robotics Cop Number 6 arrives on her doorstep to offer protection, nothing feels right. What if HE is the assassin out to get her this time?

Also, the good news is after 3 hours of waiting, I got my driver's license! And my eyes are still perfect!!! Wooohoo!!!

And had lunch with my daughter who lives near there...she fixed my "V"...so now I just have to get a new cord for my laptop since it won't stay connected and makes it hard to keep it charged, and it's on its way...

It's FRIDAY!!! And the last day for taxes. So we'll have a LOT of unhappy people today. They shouldn't have procrastinated!

So between working on Killing the Bloodlust revisions and Heart of the Jaguar, and plain working, that's it. I'll try to get the newsletter out tonight if I can. I'm going to work for a couple of hours tomorrow too. *sigh* My choice so I can make up for the time I was at the driver's license bureau.

Any fun plans for you?

I Will Not Procrastinate!

Okay, so I didn't get my taxes done until Monday and I vow next year to be more organized. :)

http://www.justsaypictures.com/images/procrastination.jpg

And I still haven't finished the 2 bears for the order because I didn't order the bolts like I should have and I'm still waiting for them.

http://otakufanboy.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/procrastination.jpg

But today I'm driving way out of town to get my driver's license renewed before it's too late. I tried to renew online, but only one renewal, then it's required to drive in. And the lines are atrocious. I'll be there all morning. And I have to work.

*sigh* But I'm being good and not procrastinating!

What about you? Do you procrastinate much about anything? Or are you OCD about getting stuff done?
