Who Needs a Vacation AFTER a Vacation?
Raising hand here!
If I had more leave time, I'd have taken off another day to recuperate! Between the cold that I can't seem to get over and the late night flight and not getting to bed until 1 in the morning...and my neurotic brain that won't let me sleep to a decent hour....
*sigh*
So I need a vacation from my vacation. I had so much fun though. And I still am dreaming about the lovely cover for the SEAL book. Can't wait to see what they come up with for the jaguar book.
Speaking of wild animals, why couldn't they have tranquilized the wild animals that that man let free and not have shot them?
Rare Bengal tigers? Shaking head. Talk about overkill. Couldn't they have sent them to zoos?
Hope you have a lovely Thursday! It got cold in Florida, and it is even colder in Texas! Brrr...
I know, Donna is shaking her head at my reference to cold. But it is!!! For us in Texas...and Florida! :)

A SEAL in Wolf's Clothing

Okay, now who is NOT ready to have a fling with Finn? Or that's kind of a negative way to put it, so here's another way...
Who's ready to have a fling with one hot Navy werewolf SEAL by the name of Finn Emerson?
Remember, he has a whole team, so we can share!
So what do you all think????

Do You Ever Feel....
That some creatures shouldn't exist? Sure, I know it's not nice to wish the extinction of any creature, but...
When we walked along the beach we had to dodge a minefield of jelly fish. What we wondered was if they are just as poisonous if you stepped on bits and pieces of the jelly, or is it just the stringers that hurt so bad? I told my son he could test the theory out, but he wasn't game. :)
But now this is just what should be on the beach!
My son was giving us a tour of the planes he flew. Ahem, he's standing higher on the wing. I am NOT that short. :) I'm sure his boots make him taller also. :)
This is a study in "foot" prints. People prints and monstrous bird prints. Most were really tiny, but I think some of these were dinosaur bird prints.
Not only were the birds flying high above--but these guys! Which my son was doing before he graduated on Friday. :)
I've had a delightful time, but now it's time to return to work and the drudgery!
But I'll always have wonderful memories of my time spent in Pensacola with Blaine and Malinie!
Hope you have a terrific Tuesday!
So what do you think? Should jelly fish be extinct???

Recycled Jaguar on the Prowl

Thanks to Donna for sending me this picture of a jaguar made of recycled horseshoes! I'm always so amazed at some people's talents!! It's beautiful! Thanks again, Donna!
I sent my DIL a box of sample teas from Scotland and she never drank them, so guess what!!!
I'm loving the heather tea. Very smooth. Great drink. And I feel I'm back in Scotland. Next, I'm trying thistle tea. The last time I came to see my son and his wife, I had just come back from Scotland, so this is like deja vu.
Ever have that happen to you?
I'm off to write, and WOW, this is a Monday and no work, no stress!!! We're going to the beach!!! Woohoo!!!!
Have a super Monday!

Finally!!!

Did I mention I should have taken my laptop with me???
I've been having trouble accessing blogger and several other sites so haven't been able to comment on blogs or write them.
But I did get the newsletter off this morning! I have to say that usually with my slower Internet, we don't have high speed where I'm at, I LOVE high speed Internet. The newsletter was done in a nanosecond!
Hope you loved The Wizard in My Dreams!
Okay, I had a request from fans who wanted The Dark Fae in paperback, so my next project is to work on that. I also have had a number of requests for the sequel to The Vampire...In My Dreams, which is The Vampire...In My Nightmares, so I'll be starting on that.
For now, I'm working on Demon Trouble Too. I only have about 5300 words to write on that story!
And I think that's all the great news!!!
Hope you all are having a super Sunday!

Why is it when...
....you yawn, whoever is watching you feels the urge also? Or someone else yawns in front of you and all of a sudden you want to yawn too?
Or you've got a cold and cough and a room can be quiet, but then your cough triggers more coughs? As if others thought they'd better clear their throats also.
What if you were to look up at the sky? What happens if you continue to look up? Others will too. You can look forward or backward or down at the floor and no one else will. But it's the act of looking up that will cause others to look that way also.
Have you ever seen someone brush away something on their face, maybe a crumb at their mouth and you want to do the same on your own face, hoping you don't have one too?
Why do some behaviors make us copy what others are doing?
That is the question.... :)
I had a lovely time at my son's navigator training graduation! He is the 5th from the left on the back row right at the middle of the nose of the plane. I wouldn't have missed it for the world. His inlaws were also present and we had a lot of fun. More on that later!!
Have a super Saturday!

Mirth or Muscles?

The Accidental Highland Hero
B&N

Someone had posted a comedian's blurb about how his mother had told him that women didn't really care about muscles as much as if a guy had a sense of humor. He soon discovered mothers lie.
But just think, if you truly had to live with someone who was dour and sour, humorless, but had the most beautiful muscles known to man, or someone who made you smile or laugh on the worst of days, who looked better with his shirt on...be honest! Which would you prefer?
My dad was the world's biggest tease, which is where I get my inclination from naturally, and when my mom, who could be just as much of a character, asked him why he didn't have six-pack abs like that guy, he had a funny retort.
My dad did have muscles--which he showed off in his Adonis pose, muscles flexed, but he was leaner and more wiry. And he had the strongest hands in the world. He could unscrew any cap on any jar that was practically unscrewable by human hands--without the use of a wrench or can opener.
So to my mother's taunts about the six-pack abs?
"They'll all turn to flab."
And then he'd push out his belly to indicate what he meant. We'd all grimace and say, "Ewww," then he'd take a deep breath and suck it all in. And he was dad again. We told him to hold it that way. :)
Now, a man with a sense of humor is definitely more desirable to me than a man who has none, but is blessed or works at only having a beautiful bod, because when you're down in the dumps, who can be more uplifting? I don't mean, physically!
Oh, I know some of you will want both. Why can't you have both?

Well, of course Highlanders are going to have gorgeous muscles from swinging the sword to fight their enemies and carrying off the lovely lass--that's you.
And wolves are going to have beautiful muscles as they exercise on their runs and workouts with the fairer sex--that's you.
And the fae...oh, wait, that's YA...no muscles yet. Not that a girl can't be hopeful--but still...a guy with a sense of humor definitely trumps one without. :)

Now it's your turn--what do you think?
I can't leave the guys out of this one. So if you're a guy, you have a say too. Would you prefer a muscled girl or one with a sense of humor?

Cliche? Or Riveting?

When I was a teen taking a creative writing class, I began a story like that. Yep. No kidding. It was a great story. Although...my teacher said it was a great story, she asked if it was true?
It had to be true?
All my stories are true, to an extent. When I envision a place, I research and use details to describe it. Even if I have been there before, I still research it for more details. Even if it's a made up fantasy world, or even if it's a made up place in our world, I research to get a feel for what the setting would be like. Or costumes. Or even people's appearances by finding pictures of people that would suit the characters.
And what about people? Sure. Well, they're not real people, but a conglomeration of real people characteristics.
How many do you know are list makers, who are anal about having everything done just so? How many are braggarts that know everything and anything and if you ask a question, he'll have an answer for you, whether he knows the truth or not? How many are obsessive nitnicks that have every clothes item organized by color in his closet? How many are the epitome of messiness that it is so bad, a path has to be made through the surging garbage to get to other rooms in the house? How many are unfaithful, yet want their cake and to eat it too? How many are shopaholics who have to have everything new, all the time?
These characteristics can describe thousands/millions of people. So they're real. They exist.
So here, let me tell you my story....
It was a dark and stormy night...
:)
Have a super hump day!!!

Life of a Teenage Dragon by Deborah Cooke
I'm happy to share Deborah Cooke's dragon shifter YA trilogy that sounds like lots of fun! Be sure and comment on her blog at the end of the post!! Thanks for sharing with us, Deborah. I love your covers!!!
[image error]Life of A Teenage Dragon
by Deborah Cooke (http://www.deborahcooke.com)
If you are a teenager, or just remember being one, you're probably aware of the wide swing of emotions experienced by teenagers everywhere. It's a phase in our lives that resonates with highs and lows, sweeping changes from tragedy to humor, and back again. It's all high drama when you're a teenager, which is part of the fun.
When I was a teenager, I often imagined having super powers. This would help me to deal with the world - or so I thought at the time. I could smite those people who irritated me, or capture and carry off the ones I was most impressed by. I could be an avenging angel, or a gorgeous fairy queen, or a troll bent on revenge. My fantasy life was active when I was a teenager, and it was heavily influenced by the characters in Tolkien's LORD OF THE RINGS.
And so, perhaps, it's not a real surprise that my first YA paranormal trilogy features a teenage girl who is a dragon shape shifter with the hots (so to speak) for Smaug - as well as a rebel rocker with a band named Jared. What's not to love about being able to change into a dragon at will? With having an Incinerate Now list? With being able to breathe fire and fight in mid-air? With being able to see the past, present and future simultaneously? What's not to love about having Jared kiss you, and light the embers all the way down in your toes?
Well, one of the issues my girl Zoë has with her dragon shifter powers is that they're late - and she's feeling considerable pressure from the other dragon shifters (called the Pyr) to manifest her destiny as the Wyvern, the only female shifter of her kind. She should be able to shift shape. She should be able to spontaneously manifest in other locations, and she should be able to see the past, present and future simultaneously. She should be able to guide the Pyr to triumph, and her dad - as leader of the Pyr - is waiting on her, but not with a lot of patience.
When we meet Zoë, none of her dragon stuff works - not until the day that Suzanne, the biggest bully in her gym class, picks on Zoë's best pal, Meagan, who is the ultimate math geek. Zoë leaps to the rescue of her friend and her powers manifest on the spot. It makes sense that they would do so, as the Pyr are charged with defending the human race, but Zoë is almost overwhelmed by the power hidden in her own body.
Suzanne is definitely spooked, which creates a whole 'nuther suite of problems for Zoë.
FLYING BLIND (June 2011) is the first book in my paranormal YA trilogy which recounts Zoë's coming of age. It begins with that reaction and follows Zoë to the boot camp held to train the young male dragon shifters. There, an old enemy of the shape shifters shows unexpected new power and Zoë has to prove herself by defeating the Mages. I love that Zoë has to balance the social and academic demands of high school with her father's expectations of her as Wyvern and her new emerging powers - as well as the competitive demands of the other teenage (male) dragon shifters.
http://www.thedragondiaries.com/flyingblind.html
WINGING IT (December 2011) is the second book of the trilogy, and recounts Zoë's continued attempts to undermine the Mages, despite her father's conviction that a treaty has solved everything. She discovers that the Mages are targeting the surviving kinds of shifters left in the world and that she has to lead a union to ensure that they all survive - without failing her classes at school or letting down her best pal. I love the conflicts in this book and the way Zoë is torn between all of her responsibilities - as well as between two different guys. There's the wild rocker Jared, who sends her pulse to the moon but plays hot and cold, and the devoted wolf shifter Derek, who is reliable, sexy and completely smitten with her. Which guy should she choose? What should she do?
http://www.thedragondiaries.com/wingingit.html
Of course, everything will wrap up in book #3, BLAZING THE TRAIL, coming in June 2012.
So, today's question is this - if you were a dragon shifter, what do you think you would have been like as a teenager? Would you have kept your secret close? Or would you have been a wild dragon child? Would you have fried people in class? Tell me what you think it would be like to be a teenage dragon shape shifter.
