I was Stuck without Internet, then No Electricity!

Amazon print version now available! And in stock! Coming soon to B&N!
Amazon kindle version

So I was playing around with a new cover for The Trouble with Demons, a YA Demon Guardian series, Book 1. It's really a teen paranormal, mystery, suspense, romance.

Here is the old cover:

The Trouble with Demons

Some fans wanted to see more of the characters, and I've always wanted to write more about them also. So I wrote nearly 12,000 words of the second book in the series, Demon Trouble Too.

Not sure about how to title the 3rd book in the series. Don't want them to be too similar or everyone gets them mixed up or thinks they already have the book. But I do have the picture and had halfway worked on the cover when my electricity went out. :( Which means I'll have to start all over. :(

Time to go back to bed before it's time to get up to go to work!!!

Have a lovely Monday! Storms look to be gone for a while. I said we needed rain, not wind and lightning so bad it knocked out my internet and then my electricity!

I know. Complaints, complaints! But at least I won't have to water after work tonight!!!

New Cover for In the Dead of the Night...

Here is the new cover for IN THE DEAD OF THE NIGHT:

Previous cover:

Allan Thompson works for a special agency that takes down terrorists, but when he's given the mission to protect one of Thurstan Wilson's mistresses, he knows something isn't right. Jenny Brant doesn't have much time before she's history and she has a plan, but what happens next turns her whole world inside out.
Allan Thompson arrives in Waco, Texas for a mission of utmost importance--protect a terrorist's mistress from being the next victim on his hit list. But when the mission goes down wrong, Jenny Brant is nearly killed and Allan begins a new mission--protect her at all costs--as her faux husband until she can regain her memories.

Everything about the mission seems wrong--all starting with one Jenny Brant who doesn't fit the profile of the kind of woman Wilson usually hooks up with. Allan and his team must protect her, but at what cost to his own sanity or his heart?

Jenny Brant begins to regain her memories, but when she learns she has a huge inheritance that Wilson wants by marrying her, and the agent Allan Thompson will marry her instead to secret her money away with the Agency's protection, she still can't remember why she would have been a killer's main squeeze. When Wilson's thugs try to return her to him, she becomes less sure of who the good guys are and who she truly is.

The only thing she knows for certain--if someone doesn't take down Wilson, her life is forfeit.

A fun background note. I had written this romantic supsense, sent it into a contest and received a full request from a NY publisher. When I went to send it to them, the end was gone! Like 3 chapters!!! I searched for the right copy, and must have saved an earlier version and was devastated.

But then one of my critique partners who had critiqued them said she might still have them. She didn't have them in her file folders, BUT, she did have them in her trash bin. So there they were. Just waiting for her to retrieve them for me. Like Tammy, I rarely empty my computer trash bin, and thank goodness for that!!!

And here is the cover for THE ANCIENT FAE, Book 4 (The World of Fae) that I'm working on.

Hope you all have a lovely Sunday!!!

We were supposed to get rain. Right. :(

Taking a Walk on the REALLY Wild Side

Did you hear about the 100+ year old man in a wheel chair attacked by bees? Others who went to save him were stung numerous times also, and so were firemen trying to get him help.

A 1000-pound sow was killed by bees also.

1,000 pounds! Can you imagine what they would have done to us?

I read about this AFTER we took our walk last Sunday in a park where we came across this. We at first wondered who would have draped a tree with canvas? But then saw a bee going into a hole in the fabric. A beehive! Ack. Right next to the trail.

Now, I might not have stayed around to take a picture if I'd known about the bee attacks that I'd read later...not here, but still, it makes you realize just how dangerous they can be.

My daughter and her Girl Scout troop were stung several times during a Girl Scout trip to the zoo in Tulsa. My daughter and another little girl were the most severely stung and the other girl threw up on the way home. Luckily outside of my new car and not inside it. The joys of being a Girl Scout leader!

You never know when you might be faced with the wild side of nature though. It doesn't have to be in the form of wild wolves!! But something as small as a bee.

Ever have any run-ins with wild beasts and lived to tell about it???

If you didn't live to tell about it, you can give us your ghostly experiences too. Which reminds me that I was watching a ghostly cruise ship story and got too scared to watch the rest of it last night. Between closing my eyes during the really scary parts, and taking breaks to the other parts of the house on "errands" to get away from it, I finally decided it wasn't for me!!!

What's in a Title?

Has a title ever made you stop and think, hey, I want to read this? I loved the double meaning to Wolf Fever!! It was perfect for the story!

Sure, that's what titles are supposed to do. Sometimes they are so bad, you have to take a look at them. Sometimes they play off something popular and catch your attention. Sometimes they are just written to snag your eye because they are so bizarre, you just have to read the back cover blurb. And sometimes they're of a subject that you can't bypass no matter how much you know you don't have time for it.

At work, I was checking in books and saw Sex on the Moon. Okay. So I handed it to our history major and asked him if he'd want to read the book. It had to do with NASA, but was fictional, of course. And I pointed out it was historical, in a way. LOL

No, he said, shaking his head. He didn't believe it had anything to do with sex on the moon. Okay, maybe it does, but it doesn't reveal it in the blurb. But did the title catch our attention? Sure!

One of our Sourcebooks authors, Grace Burrows, mentioned about her regency era book, The Heir, and how when she talked about it, folks thought she meant, "The Air."

Yes, just like with The SEAL in Wolf's Clothing. There's this big pause. Now I'm writing about seal shifters mixing it up with wolves?

Hmmm.... But when the cover comes out, I'm sure there will be a hunky Navy SEAL, and that will dispel any concern readers might have that it's a flippered seal with long whiskers...

So titles can be fun!

Can you think of a title that made you look further into a book? Buy it?

Hope you all have a great Thursday! It's my vampire night tonight...

I'm having trouble with my Internet this morning, so still trying to get this blog posted. Methinks the mischievous fae are about....

Top Secret!!!

While I was in the Army I had a SECRET clearance. Didn't need anything more than that for what I dealt with. One day, I had to visit one of the intelligence offices where everything was TOP SECRET.

I felt I was in a vault. And I was glad I didn't work there on a daily basis.

But here's the deal, when I got home from work last night, I had a TOP SECRET email.

Right.

TOP SECRET.

In an email.

Not only was it TOP SECRET, it was URGENT!!!

So what did I do with it? I deleted it.

You know why? Because I don't have a TOP SECRET clearance. So I did what anyone would have done. Deleted it. Wouldn't you have?

:)

Did I ever mention we had a TOP SECRET guy at the library who was undercover? Yep. He told us. He did highly TOP SECRET stuff and couldn't tell us what. But he had a sixth level TOP SECRET clearance. Not even just TOP SECRET. Now that's heady stuff. Don't you think?

He can have it. I don't want it. It was enough having a SECRET clearance. :)

And that's the news for the day. Oh, wait, let me let you in on a secret! Got another 2,000 words done on Tom's story!

And it's a Wednesday! Woohoo!!!

Hope you have a delightfully wonderful hump day!

I Have Nothing to Say...Except....

...that's the problem with writers. They don't have anything to say, but they'll say it anyway!

First, thanks to everyone who stopped by Karen Nutt's blog yesterday. I couldn't get signed into Twitter, so couldn't spread the word that way. But I finally was able to do it today.

Second, I joined YARWA to try it out. It's a young adult chapter of the Romance Writers of America.

Now, I have to say I was trying to wrest the wheel away from the pirate. Note that he has taken us aground. And I am sure I can sail better than he can.

Why did I picture this here? The YARWA motto is say it like a pirate: "yarh" or something like that!

I thought it was cute.

He's not though. He's rather on the scrawny side. No meat on his bones. No muscles. No golden tanned skin. Even bald, if I can make out the situation under his pirate's hat and all.

Now note, my hat is also a pirate's hat. Well, maybe not real piratey looking, but I've worn it in many an ocean, protecting my Celtic skin from sunburn, and so if you look really, really close, you can see the salt from the Seven Seas. Maybe not the Seven Seas--doesn't that sound like a pirate's yarn to you?

But several--lakes and oceans and the Gulf too.

And that's what I have to say today...nothing at all!!!

Have a terrific Tuesday, and remember...if you feel the urge, be a pirate and yarh!~

A Ghost of a Chance at Love Guest Blog!

Today I'm at Karen Nutt's Books talking about When a Dream Becomes [image error]a Reality! It's still not up at Barnes and Noble. I keep checking! Anyway, drop by and say hi, if you'd like!

Amazon

Lisa Welsh only wishes to leave a messy divorce behind for a couple of days stay in Salado, Texas but wakes to nightmares and a cowboy in her bed, and she has no earthly idea how he got there. But the situation gets worse when she learns she's now living in 19th Century Salado. Even more worrisome is the tall dark stranger, and everyone else in town believes she's some woman named Josephine Rogers who is supposed to be dead.

Jack Stanton can't believe the clerk gave him an occupied room at the Shady Villa Inn, but worse, he was ready to ravage the woman in that bed—until he realized his mistake. Now the woman he thinks is Josephine claims to be some other woman—and though he could never abide by Josephine's fickle ways, this Lisa Welsh intrigues him like no other. Still, if she isn't Josephine, he figures he best help her find her way back to where she really belongs no matter how much he wants to keep her with him.

Together, Lisa and Jack must solve the mysteries and face the troubles in their worlds or they will never be free to share the love that binds them across the ages.

Yesterday, we thought it was going to be cool. 102 is not cool and we took a walk in a park where the trees are so stressed they desperately need rain. Creek was dried up. Lake is way down. Every footfall kicked up deserty dry dust.

Hot, hot, hot.

We were going to go walking in another park next weekend, but ONLY if it's cooler. I had water with me, but developed a severe headache from the heat. Not good.

Anyway, I took lots of pictures, some I'll probably use later...but I'm running late!

Got 10,000 words done on Silence of the Wolf!!! :)

Have a super...ack, it's Monday again??? Well, try to have a super Monday! :)

The Winged Fae's Video Trailer is Up!

The Winged Fae
Amazon
B&N

Between watching the Cowboys and Aliens and making this video, I didn't get much else done!

I still need to make some others, and I missed Deadly Fae, but I decided to create this one first because it was fresher in my mind!

I also had this great and fun review for Heart of the Highland Wolf at Whispered Thoughts!

Oh, and yeah, I did do more! I have a guest post on Monday for A GHOST OF A CHANCE AT LOVE at Karen Nutt's blog!

So what do you think of the trailer??? :)

Okay, have to work!

Hope you all have a great Sunday!

No Rain until Spring?

My son sent me a picture of the Pensacola beach. Wish I was there!

But I repeat, no rain until spring?

I sure hope the weathermen are out of their minds!

But when I checked the weather report to see if we were ever getting a reprieve, no. None. Nada.

The winds from California are supposed to bring the dryer weather. Huh? Dryer? I feel I live in the no-moisture zone already!

My hands are dry as the desert. Houston, which is normally muggy and humid is dry!

We're headed for another Dust Bowl at this rate. Only in Texas, not Oklahoma.

I want a new weatherman. One who predicts the right weather. That we are going to get some of the rain that's plaguing the east coast. We soooo badly need it. And they soooo badly don't.

Well, since I can't have any rain, I'm going to enjoy a movie--Cowboys and Aliens. Not my choice, but my friend can't get her family to go with her so I said I would!

I have no idea what I'm in for. But sometimes it's better not to know!

Have a terrific Saturday! Off to get some writing done before I'm off to wrangle aliens. :)

Have anything special planned???

Autographed Copies in Waco, Texas!

Heart of the Wolf (Book 1), Destiny of the Wolf (Book 2), To Tempt the Wolf (Book 3)
Legend of the White Wolf (Book 4), Seduced by the Wolf (Book 5), Wolf Fever (Book 6)

I don't remember why I was close to the Market Center the other day that I decided to check on whether they had any of my books. They had a bunch, missing Heart of the Wolf, I think, but had 4 other copies. Don't remember which other was missing.

But I autographed the rest of the them at Books-a-Million!

I need to run by Barnes and Noble and Hastings to see if they have any. I did sign the ones at B&N a while back, and at Hastings, but the last time I had been at Books-a-Million, they'd all sold out.

I'm still trying to remember why in the world that I was in that direction the other day.

Do you ever do that? Wonder why you did something or why you were somewhere and can't remember why?

I'm sure I had a very important reason for it. Just wish I'd remember what it was!!!

Have a super Thursday! I get to go in late after working on Monday, so that's the great news! Off to write!
