GLIMPSES ART CONTEST WINNERS!
Yes, the decisions are finally final.
First let me say that I appreciate each and every piece of art submitted, and looked at each one personally. So many lovely things! I wish I could include them all, but it simply isn't possible, as there were 58 artists in all, some submitting more than one piece bringing the total to over 100 pieces of artwork. The final decisions were mine alone.

What Do You Need? Please read
I found this on
yuki_onna
's LJ and think it's really worth doing here, as well. Some things should go viral. Just state your problem here and see what happens!
What do you need?
Not "What do you want?" Which is an entirely different question. But what do you need? Are you looking for an apartment, a job, a ride to somewhere, assistance with something? Comment here, and maybe I or one of my readers can help you! The internet makes miracles, we all know it. Read the comments, and see if there's s...

Letting Go
I just sent the final edits on GLIMPSES off to my editor. It's not an easy thing to do. Once I do that, I can't make any more changes. And I love to make changes! There always seems to be some little bit of frippery that needs tidying, or a character that isn't quite fleshed out enough. And this is the version that goes out for blurbs and review. But there does come a moment when the gut says "Enough already! You're done!" I reached that point this morning.
So now? We wait for the reviews a...

GLIMPSES Release Date!
GLIMPSES, my Nightrunner short story collection, will be released on September 21, 2010. In other words, the end of next month. It will be available through Amazon.com, Kindle, Smash Words, Barnes & Noble (I think), at least, and hopefully some independent bookstores. We are working on international availability, but you can at least order from Amazon.com in the meantime. It should be available for pre-order on Amazon soon.
It will be in trade paperback format, over 100 pages, plus artwork,...

Today's Buddhist Thought
A family is a place where minds come in contact with one another. If these minds love one another the home will be as beautiful as a flower garden. But if these minds get out of harmony with one another it is like a storm that plays havoc with the garden. The Buddha

The Conservative Argument for Same-Sex Marriage
One of the lawyers fighting Prop 8 in California (ban on same-sex marriage) is a conservative. In Newsweek he lays out beautifully why same-sex marriage is right under the Constitution. Very well said.

Morning Ramblings: Writing Sex
It's been an interesting challenge, creating Nightrunner erotica for the Glimpses collection and sorting out in my mind the difference between erotica and porn. I have come to the conclusion that it's a blend of storytelling and language. Porn is more bald in language and, as my friend Betty Blue says, you know just how it's going to end. Sex is the point of porn. With erotica, it's only one element of story and perhaps not the whole point. And language-- It's like playing a tune by ear. Why ...

"Glimpses" was "Chapbook"
The short story collection, GLIMPSES, is coming together nicely. There will be four original stories and a long snippet from "Summer Players."
Special guest author has agreed to do a foreword. Hopefully will not tell any very embarassing stories about me. ;-)
Just got a sketch for the cover art by Anne Cain. It's going to be pretty!
Narrowing down the artwork now. So much to choose from!

Quiet
A strange quiet has settled around me. I'm getting almost no email, no phone calls, no posts on my FB. My characters weren't even speaking to me yesterday. Must be the stars.
