Back From Comic Con
Had a fractured visit at Comic Con this year. Drove up and back for a panel and signing on Thursday, then back on Friday to celebrate anniversary for the day, and have big signing on Saturday. Doug and I spent Friday over on Coronado Island, and visited the Hotel Del Coronado, where "Some Like It Hot", and "The Stunt Man" were filmed. It's a beautiful, gigantic old place with a fantastic walking beach. Could really picture Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis, Jack Lemon cavorting in the sand, and Peter

White Road Update
Finished the final rewrites today and have started the final read through to catch last nits and nats. Almost there! Nearly time for a new snippet, I think.

Bosco R.I.P.
Bosco went gently into that good night this morning at the vet's. It was very difficult to part with him, but it was definitely time and the vet confirmed it. When it was over we went to Golden Spoon and toasted him with vanilla soft serve, his favorite.
He was a good dog and I really, really am going to miss him. But as a Buddhist, I also say "happy death day, Bosco!" Hope his essence goes on to something good.
Thanks to all for your support and good wishes.

Buddhist Thought For the Day
O monks, even if you have insight that is pure and clear but you cling to it, fondle it and treasure it, depend on it and are attached to it, then you do not understand that the teaching is like a raft that carries you across the water to the farther shore but is then to be put down and not clung to.

Walter Cronkite RIP
I grew up with Mr. Cronkite in my living room, solemnly telling us about world events, especially the Vietnam War. I think of him often, wishing we had more of his gravitas these days. I always liked his voice.

These guys are in charge of us?
I really try not to discount all "old white men" in government. I think a lot of them have something unique to offer; I just think there needs to be a much broader variety of ethnic/racial [oops, forgot gender!:] types to represent society, and that Congress is severely overstocked with OWM. And not all of them are-- to coin a phrase "wise white men."
Cases in point. Supreme Court nominee Sotomayor, a self made woman who grew up in the projects, self described "affirmative action baby" who went on

Bosco Update (Not R.I.P.)
For those of you who are following Bosco's progress, he does indeed have congestive heart failure and I was right about fluid in his lungs. Dr. T has put him on heart meds and water pills to try to make him more comfortable. The good news is that Bosco is still a happy boy. He can't cavort, but he still comes running-- well, creaking, when he hears the supper dishes rattle, or the word "treat" or "walk"-- the later rather sad, since his going for walk days are over, though I do carry him outside
