Boo, Jackson! >:-(

I spoke too soon on the furniture chewing. Went to the bank for half an hour. There were furniture casualties.

Yay Jackson!

Today was a big day for J dog. We went for a walk and encountered a man wearing a hat and mowing his lawn. Not only did J not freak out as he used to, he walked right on by with head and tail held high, and remained so for the whole walk. When a couple passed us on the far side of the street he gave me an alerting gruff, with no shying at all. Our little pup is growing up! Now the problem is that when people come to the house instead of running away and hiding, he barks at them continuously--...

Sad News of Violence at Bat Nha Monastery

During Thich Nhat Hanh's last visit to Viet Nam he established a monastery and 400 young people took orders. Since then they have been ruthlessly persecuted by the VN government. Here's the latest news.

What Day Is It?

It has been a wild month: a week at a Buddhist retreat with Thich Nhat Hanh, a week with the movie people in NYC, meeting with the cruise people, and yesterday went to a lecture by the Dalai Lama. Felt so good to just sit and knit today, though one might ask why I'm making a bulky Aran sweater here in SoCal. Copy edits arrived on Friday, due by the 5th. Back to work!

Wildfires and Blazing Rats

This was the view out my front door yesterday, and the stink of smoke still hangs heavy over the neighborhood. I could hear the fire planes all night.

Nightrunner Tarot

Just turned in a proposal for a Nightrunner-based Tarot deck and book set, which I'm working on with acclaimed Tarot artist and scholar, Robert M. Place. It's an exciting project, tying the two together. The Tarot has been a lifelong influence, and certainly on my writing. The deck will include two Lovers cards, too: one with Nysander, Magyana, and Ylinestra, and one with Alec and Seregil.

He's already designed two sample cards:

Alec, as the Fool

Seregil as the Magician
