Twitter Study claims Californians are happier than New Yorkers
According to an article in today's Slate.com:
Posted Friday, July 16, 2010 - 11:50am
A team of researchers from Northeastern and Harvard Universities has set its sights on studying the mood of all of your tweets, and their first results appeared this week. Yet another example that Twitter is a legitimate thing! University funding and everything. How far we've come.
Read the article.
The results is visualized in a trippy Youtube animation that looks a lot like a Lava Lamp lying on its side.

Anniversary
29th wedding anniversary today and it was this hot that day, too. One of our groomsmen almost fainted. But it was great, all the same and seems like it took.
Dog beach early this morning, sushi and movie theater tonight, washing dogs and fixing washing machines in the middle. A balanced life.

Disaster Averted
Yes, I love my husband. My computer mysteriously ate two days work yesterday afternoon, while Doug was on his way back from a convention. I felt absolutely sick, baffled, helpless, angry, stupid. The elves that operate my laptop had gone rogue again.
Doug called me from the road, gave me hope, came home, vanquished the rogue elves and got my words back from them. The poor words were shaken from their ordeal, and a bit weepy, but most of them made it back alive. We're searching for the MIAs th...

Heat Wave
Well, the heat has finally found us, after a very pleasant spring and early summer. It's 112.8F on my back patio, but only 108F in the shade.
Good day not to work on the back patio. This is sort of SoCal's version of a hard winter in Maine. You just don't want to go outside. Given the choice, I think I might take the blizzard, at least today.

True Blood: Season 3
Finally caught up on True Blood. I can't say I'm enjoying some of the developments. Sookie/Bill are falling into the tired old "Get 'em together, break 'em apart" angst loop. But I find them pretty dull anyway and Bill is very unevenly written, or his mainstream veneer is very, very thin. His backstory is a little too Louis/Lestat.
Loving Eric more and more, though. Too bad they killed off Godrik so quickly. Eric tearing a man limb from limb with foils in his hair is still one of my favorite ...
