Lion Taming
The garage kitten is showing signs of warming up a little. This morning I brought the bowl of food out, then sat on a bucket less than two feet away. Oscar was there immediately, and the feral kitten showed up from his/her hiding place very quickly. He doesn't like me being so close, but he eats and keeps an eye on me. Since Oscar was sitting at my feet, I slowly leaned forward, scratching Oscar's back, and actually managed to go over Oscar's head and touch the kitten's ear. Kitten did not li...

Update on Signed Copies of Glimpses
Signed copies can be ordered from from Mysterious Galaxy Bookstore. Orders must be placed by Oct. 1 to give them time to order enough copies. If you are ordering from outside the US, ask about lower mailing rates. $28 is the international priority rate they usually use, but they can use slower, cheaper rates. So ask! :-)

Gay 'Criminal Minds' Star Kirsten Vangsness To Get Married In Every Country Possible
How cool is that? She and partner Melanie Goldstein were going to get married in California, but the knuckle draggers here won Prop 8 before they could. You go, girls!

Wild Kingdom
So first it's a feral kitten moving into the garage. Still too shy to get a hold of. Cute little thing.
But something else has been getting in and knocking over the cat food bucket and getting the lid off. Tonight we heard a commotion. Doug opened the garage door and there were four raccoons. Tim and I saw a mamma and three babies a month ago. It's probably them. I'm just surprised it took them so long to find the cat food. Messy, but adorable. Time to board up that hole in the outer garage d...

TV: Criminal Minds, New Season!
(New icon found online. I think it's one made by Elizabeth Bear. Too funny!)
So, a Leonard Cohen soundtrack, a quote from the Buddha (a favorite quote at that), and Tim Curry. What's not to like? Well, there wasn't enough Reid, not nearly enough, but otherwise, excellent start.
I really liked J.J's monologue to Flynn. In real life she'd probably have gotten everyone killed, but in fiction it was nice. And I see from next week's preview that she's leaving the show! Too bad, she really develop...

Yeah, it's right, but . . .
"I wonder who set them on us?" Alec rasped as he mounted Windrunner.
That just sounds wrong, doesn't it?

Mysterious Galaxy Postal Rates
I spoke with the folks at Mysterious Galaxy about the high postal rates some of you have mentioned. That is their standard speedy shipping rate, but it you can wait longer, they have lower rates. Be sure to ask!
