Geeze!!!!

Should I apologize for not writing in so long?  Probably.  Will I?  Nope!  You see, as I get older I discover I have more to do and less time to do it.  I am positive there are fewer hours in a day and fewer days in a week.  Unable to embrace change easily, I no less seem to be inundated by it.  You to?  Glad to hear it's not just me!

Here are a few updates on my life:  As many of you may or may not remember, I re-homed my two horses about 9 months ago.  Now I have another horse in my pasture...two peacocks and 6 bunnies!  How did that happen?  (I ask myself this daily!)  I MET A MAN.

He came to do some work on my barn and stuck around.  If you've read my second novel, Mr. Fix-it, you'll note life sometimes imitates art.  (Yeah, I call my book art.  Sue me!)  I won't bore you with the details, but I have a wedding in my future!  You can't be more surprised than I am!!!

On the literary front, the rights to Dare to Dream and Mr. Fix-it will revert to me next month. and I figure I will self re-publish them soon.  So, be looking for them on Amazon!  I promise you they'll be a great deal!

REALLY?

Do you have photos on your work desk; family, friends, pets, vacation?  Completely normal, right?  Well, apparently not.  Where I work everyone has plants, photos, trinkets made by their children, etc.  All those little touches that make our cubicles more homey and less of a prison.  When I was hired I was told to "make your area your own."

I brought a silk plant, photos  of my son and daughter-in- law, some of my dogs and yes...photos of my book covers.  These were 4x6, arranged in a cluster atop my printer, which most of the time makes them behind me.  The most risque thing in any of those covers is a bare man's torso.

I do not ask people to buy my books, I do not draw these covers to anyone's attention, I do not hand out business cards.  The covers are merely "there"  I am proud of my 5 books!  Wouldn't you be?  If I am asked if I wrote them, I say, yes, and that is it.  Period.  If I'm asked if that is my son, DIL, dog in the photo, I say, yes.

Yesterday I was asked to remove my cover photos because someone might think I was pedaling my wears or be offended.  Of course, I complied.  I love my job and want to keep it.  Next week I'll bring home the plant, kids photos, and those of my dog.  I don't want to take any chances!

BTW, I'm the receptionist, in case that matters.

Has this happened to you? Fair or not, what say you all?

1ST HAVEN Review!

From Cryptic Reads:

Review: This was the first time I'd read a book by Debbie Vaughan, but it won't be the last! Haven is a fresh look into the world of paranormal romance, one that I really enjoyed. Written in first person, this book is full of interesting characters - characters that I'd love to see get a book of their own.

HAVEN  release day!!!!

Picture Whoot!  Haven release day!!!   I will be doing a week long blog tour to promote Haven very soon.  I'll post where I'll be as soon as I know.  Drop by and you could win a copy of , Naked Secrets, book 2 of the Legacy Series.

Do you love this cover or what?!
Hopefully you'll love what's inside just as much.

A home of her own, a man of her own, her wedding day fast approaching is the life Connie Bennett had only dreamed about. She should be thrilled, right? So why isn't she? Excellent question!

The assorted shape-shifters, vampires and other government experiments she and her cohorts rescued from the FARM have been acclimated--mostly. An old acquaintance, Private Gary Vance, returns to make them rethink that comforting notion.

You'd think by now, Connie would realize life doesn't always go like you wish it would, or expect it to. But, even if she had, never in her wildest imaginings would she have predicted this!

A were-jaguar’s on the prowl. Posing as a kitten he’s taken in by Becky and even though all his powers are unknown, he’s accepted as just another experiment gone wrong. Way wrong!

As Raf, Terrell, Leeann and Jimmy make preparations for the upcoming nuptials; Connie can’t seem to keep her mind on the joyful event. What is mistaken for wedding anxiety turns to something far more sinister.

Private Vance has his own agenda. He plans to make Tom pay for all the agony he endured at the FARM and Connie is his tool of choice! Using his hypnotic pheromones to bend her to his will, Vance plans a wedding gift to die for.

It will take more than Raf to save the day and bring about a happy ending.

Coming Very Soon!

Well, I sent my edits back last night for Haven, the third book in my Legacy Series.  Now I'm waiting for the cover to be tweaked and then a release date!

Impending edits used to scare the bejeesus out of me...but not anymore.  Sure,  always expect the worst, as writers we are trained to do so. Since my first book, my edits have gotten easier and easier!  I have learned so much since I began this journey.  I self-edit, use online editing tools, and only then do I send it off for submission.  I must be doing something right!

Thank God!

Now if the sales were as easy...

Watch for Haven to release from Steam E-reads as well as my blog tour in July!

Geeze! Has it Been 2 Months?

I'm sorry!  What can I say?  It's been a hectic  and often sad, 6 months around my home-place.

I've lost 3 of my darling dogs since the first of the year.  The last was Frankie, my Velcro dog.  I was always plastered to me and I loved him dearly.  He passed peacefully at home without intercession, thank God.  With Jack and Chloe, I wasn't so lucky.  Now Harley is having a back issue...

I was forced to re-home my horses due to time and financial constraints.  Believe me, that was a hard decision.  When I take on an animal, I see it as a life long commitment.  I was lucky enough to find them a home with a co-worker where they will get to stay together.  That helps ease my heart a little.

A relationship came to a close.  No, romance writers aren't always lucky in love.  No automatic HEA for yours truly.

My release date for Naked Secrets was March 18th.  I got my edits two days before!  Nuff said.  Now I'm waiting on edits for Haven which is due out this month.  Waiting is not something I do well.

So, how has 2014 been treating you?
