I Have Prevailed!
Over what? You might well ask. My first go round of edits! What you thought we writerly types just wrote those wonderful stories and the publishers sent them to print or digitized them? Hardly!
After we painstakingly go over each word and point of punctuation and the publisher of our choice says, "Hey, we want to publish your book!" We must make it even closer to perfection. The publisher assigns editor/s to go over each sentence to find typos, plot holes, mis-punctuation and so forth. Each house has their own guidelines to adhere to.
Personally, I had a horrible case of, "Oh My God!" with a few editorial comments. But you know what? I have a great publisher. One that not only cares about the business end of publishing but the human side of it as well. She, poor dear, understands the artistic temperament. A simple explanation, and I was good to go.
I got my edits on Friday afternoon. On Sunday afternoon they were back in the hands of Siren Bookstrand Publishing. Not bad for a newbie.
(Thanks Diana)
So, look for Dare to Dream in July as a Siren Classic!
(Apparently, I'm a little too hot for mainstream. LOL)
I can't wait to see my cover!

BULLIES
No, I'm not talking about those cute doggies with the mushed up mugs.
I'm speaking of humans who use their size, status, position and power to intimidate and hurt others whether physically or emotionally. We've all met one at some point in our lives. They've certainly been in the news a lot lately.
Maybe it's the boss who makes sexual innuendos because he knows he can get away with it. You need that job, right?
Or, maybe it was the kid on the bus, who'd threaten to beat you up if you didn't give over your lunch money or that Twinkie. You really wanted that Twinkie!
Perhaps it's a co-worker, who never does their share but has an "in" with the supervisor, so you end up picking up the slack. What do you do?
It has often be said if you stand up to a bully they will back down. I've found this to be the case more times than not. Each person must make their own decision about how much they are willing to take. But, what if their decision affects others? Then what?
If you get your boss in trouble for sexual harassment and he closes the business, will your co-workers have to find other employment?
If you don't give the kid your lunch money and Twinkie, will he just pick on someone smaller?
If you go over your supervisor's head to the top dog and your co-worker gets fired, will everyone get stuck with the extra work and they'll all be on your case?
How do you know when to bite the bullet or stand your ground? What's the answer?
