ENTER TO WIN!

I'm having a contest and the winner will receive not only an e-copy of Mr. Fix-it but one of Dare to Dream as well!  It's a double header!  All you have to do is go to the  contact me tab  on the left and click the tab.  Then enter your first and last name in the top two boxes, and your e-mail address in the next.  In the comment section, tell me what you like to see in your hero.  Now if that isn't enough fun, the winner will get to name the hero in my sci-fi fantasy, Red Sun Rising!  He's a prince from another world, with raven hair and eyes like glowing embers.  I need a name...you chose!

Winner will be chosen by random selection on Labor Day, September 5th.

Please note: Red Sun Rising is a work in progress and is not contracted at this time.

Life as We Know it...

How's that for a blog title?

Are you like me?  (God, I sure hope not!)  Do you tend to get bogged down in the day to day minutia?  Do you worry about what "comes next" in your life, like you actually have control of any of it?  If you do, then you are a silly fool like me.  I feel your pain.

It seems I am always throwing road blocks in my own path.  I can't enjoy the successes for worrying about what skulks behind door number 3.

What the hell is she talking about now?  Life.

As a property owner.  (Yeah, baby!)  I have certain responsibilities.  (Read TONS of responsibilities)  I try to triage, to prioritize, but in the end...I obsess.

There was an old building on the property that needed to be demolished and a leaky pond needing either repair or to be filled in.  Both things were taken care of this week.  Whoo-hoo!  Right?  Nope.  Now I am stressing over the next thing in line...fence repair.  Oh, and finding a new job...my love life...the weather...what's for dinner...the book I'm writing...the one about to release and a contest to give away free copies of each.

OCD anyone?

Yes, I realize I have a  problem.  That's the first step to recovery, right?

I'm a work in progress.  God hasn't finished with me yet.

What for my contest here, on Facebook and Twitter.  Some lucky stiff will win a copy of both Dare to Dream and my new release, Mr. Fix-it!

Until then, stop to smell the roses...I can't...mine died...from lack of rain...

Hellofa Week!

It's been a hell of a week for yours truly.  Where to begin?

At the urging of a friend, I signed up for one of those on-line dating thingamabops.  It's a new age, people are busy, who has time?  I understand the concept.  But remember, I've been out of the dating loop for over 3 decades.  (God, that makes me sound so old!)  So what do I get right out of the box?  Two, count them, 2 internet predators.  It was quite the learning experience.  Perhaps more so for them, than me.   LOL

Boys, we southern girls didn't just fall off the cabbage truck.  We will find you and it won't be pretty.

So you pick yourself up, dust your bruised ego and climb back on that bronc.  Time will tell if I'll find Mr. Right or not.  I'm in no rush.  Much.
I spoke to a very nice man last evening...

Two job interviews this week as well.  Waiting on the outcomes.  They are still interviewing so I will have a lot of competition.I should know something by the end of next week.

Dare to Dream is out on Amazon!  Yeah, it surprised me too.  I have my release date pretty firm for
Mr. Fix-it--August 30th.  I still need my cover art and line edits, but all systems are go otherwise.  Check My Stories page for blurbs and buy links.

The folks in New York still have parts or all of my urban fantasy series.
~sigh~ New York has their own time table which I am pretty sure will result in my posthumous acclaim. When I said I wanted to be on the New York Times Best Seller's list in five years I didn't mean five after I died.

My fault, I wanted to be a writer.

Speaking of dead.  It's been 105 or more for a week.  Zero rain.  I'm feeding my winter hay.  This does not bode well.

Hugs!

Geeze Louise!

Feast in the workplace and famine at home?

What the hell is she talking about now, you might well ask.  I have two job interviews this week.  That is a good thing, right?  Sure, unless they both decide to say yes.  Then I have to make a decision.  Just now, I am not sure I am capable.  (Of course, they COULD say no...)

My second book is due to release very soon.  Great!  Yes, it is, but I have to make a decision there as well.   I need a few more naughty words to get into one category and a few less for another.  Yep, believe it or not, publishers count the words in more ways than one.

So there is my professional life.  My personal one ain't no better.  How's that for grammar folks?  (My publisher is cringing.)

My experiences in on-line dating have been eyeopening to say the very least.  Both my first and second "friend" ended up being internet predators. Oh!  Lucky me!  So, ladies check all your files for a man from Nigeria (or possibly Paris, Houston and parts unknown)  who is in some sort of export business.  petercannon44@yahoo.com has many aliases, Peter Cannon, Kelvin Collins, Bradley Jones, Mike Francis to name a few.  He's been on Face Book and all the networking/dating sites.

Lesson learned.

And guys, could you read the profiles before you clink the little button?  No smokers means NO SMOKERS and ditto for HUNTERS.  I want Bambi in the forest NOT with his ass on the dinner table with his head over the fire place.

Rant over.  Work now.

Be safe!

Hello! Is Anyone Out there?

Did you read yesterday's blog?  Well, I'm waiting for answers folks!

Yes, I know school is about to start and you have a million dollars to spend on supplies because we all have to buy everything now.  Funny (NOT!) we all have to balance our checkbook but the government doesn't.  Yet they expect us to pay for their lack of control.

Here's the Debbie Vaughan plan for reducing not only the nation's budget but getting rid of a lot of worthless baggage in the process.
Make every position in in federal govenment from the President on down--honorary.  That was the way it was intended.  They are our "servants."  No pay checks to the already fat cats in Washington, no paid health care, no lifetime pension, no bodyguards from now until the twelfth of never.

Can you hear the zeros falling off the debt?

Stop sending our jobs and our money to other countries.  We need to address the problems in our own country:  unemployment, homelessness, hunger, lack of medical treatment, greedy insurance companies.  You know the issues.

Our infrastructure is falling apart.  We need roads, and bridges and Lord knows what.  Bring our troops home from the countries that have never been and never will be at peace.  Give them the job of "protecting our homeland" by repairing and rebuilding here at home.  It would save money and lives.  I support our troops in all that they do.  I do not support the officials who send them into harm's way in a useless task.

I'm not normally a political person but there comes a time when a person must say, "Whoa!  Enough foolishness and greed.  Our poor, ill and homeless are growing while the Washington Fat Cats get fatter and richer.  They are there to serve US, not themselves.  Perhaps they need a reminder of that.  Let them live like most of the population lives--hand to mouth.  I for one am sick and tired of paying for their mistakes.

See?  That's what happens when you piss me off and give me a soapbox to stand on.

A Question for the ages...

How do you know when you have met "that special someone?"

As most of you know if you've been reading my blog for more than five seconds, I am a hopeful romantic.  I believe we all have our soul mate out there somewhere.  The problem is we are so busy searching, we grab onto the first potential suitor to come along or go to the other extreme and let everyone pass by because they can't possibly be "the right one."

How do you know?

In the good ole days, you got butterflies in your stomach (But, that might have just been the onions on that burger you had for lunch..)  You might have gotten light headed at the mere sight of him/her.  (That could be dehydration.  How much water have you had today?)  Or the first kiss that made you want to swoon.  (Have you had your blood pressure checked recently?)  Those are only a handful of the classic signs of love.  Do they even apply anymore in this age of texting, chatting and  on-line dating ?  I certainly don't know!

Is it possible to get butterflies merely by corresponding via e-mail or chat?  Can you be attracted without ever hearing their voice?  Should you throw caution to the winds?  How do you know they aren't a serial stalker...a money grubber out to steal your life savings.  (which in my case would be $2.39 just in case anyone is interested.)  Sure they say they aren't married, but short of a FBI background check, they could tell you anything.

Remember, the guy on the news a few months back who had dozens of families all over the country? Scary, huh?

As most good things in life, love is a risk.  You risk your heart.  But some things must be taken on faith.  I suspect love is one of those.

Can a little ole southern lady find love the second time around?  I write about it.  Does that make it easier.  Hell no!  It's scary and crazy and any other word you can think up for complete insanity.  But--I think it may be worth it.  I hope it is.  Stay tuned...
