Hot Romance Author Jean Joachim & GIVEAWAY!!

I am so excited to have the very lovely JEAN JOACHIM here with me today!

LisaFox: So, tell us about you. Who is Jean Joachim?

JeanJoachim: I'm a wife and mother of two boys. I have seven non-fiction books and one fiction, contemporary sweet romance, published with another two, contemporary sensual romances, due out this fall. I have a rescued pug named Homer who is my muse. I live in New York City amidst the noise, dirt and excitement.

LF: You are a romance author, but do you consider yourself a romantic?

JJ: Absolutely! I love romance, romantic gestures and true love, the force behind true romanticism to me. One of the great things about being a romance writer is being immersed in the world of romance all day every day.  I couldn't write my books without being a romantic at heart.

LF: I know I read romances mostly for the heroes. Tell us about Mike Foster, your hero from SUNNY DAYS, MOONLIT NIGHTS.

JJ: I love Mike Foster. Of course I love all my heroes, or I couldn't write them. Mike is the kind of guy every woman wishes she had. He's reliable, sturdy, always there when you need someone to help, bale you out of trouble, carry groceries, paint the ceiling. He's very attractive but not a Calvin Klein model, strong and confident. Mike is a man's man, uncomfortable with "lady" things, always up for sex, loves to laugh, loves animals and knows how to fix everything. Mike likes women, respects them, except perhaps his ex-wife! He's an involved father who adores his son and wants to have more children. Mike is rich but doesn't live a rich lifestyle. Still, when he needs to use money to make the woman he loves happy, he doesn't hesitate. *Sighs*, don't we all wish we had a Mike Foster in our lives! But, of course, he's not perfect. He's made some mistakes in his past and he doesn't always do the right thing or communicate his feelings. Especially to Sunny. Still, he is forgiving of her deceit, even if it takes him a while to get there.

LF: Who do you see playing him in the movie?

JJ: Bill Pullman, though I believe his eyes are blue and he's too old now. Think of him in "While You Were Sleeping" or Matt Damon, also with blue eyes. But Damon has the quiet strength Mike exudes.  Maybe Michael Fassbender, again with the wrong color eyes, but so handsome and solid, with a quiet strength about him.

LF: If you could be one of your characters, which one would you want to be?

JJ: It's a toss up between Sunny Davis White and Callie Richards from Now and Forever 1, a Love Story. Both are talented, independent women who have snagged gorgeous, wonderful men. I'd love to be able to paint like Sunny and be as sexy and sweet as Callie, and be married to Mac Caldwell, her fantastic husband.  Although their lives have not been easy, they find happiness with the right men and fulfillment in what they are doing with their lives, Sunny with her art and Callie raising children and helping promote Kensington State University, where Mac is a dean.

LF: Boxers or briefs?

JJ: Boxers definitely. Tighty whities were "it" when I was younger, but boxers seem so much sexier today. They seem more grown up than the old briefs version. The new version of briefs seem more like a form-fitting bathing suit to me.

LF: Any new projects in the works?

JJ: Yes, so happy you've asked! I have almost finished the first draft of the sequel to "Sunny Days, Moonlit Nights." It's tentatively titled "April's Kiss in the Moonlight."  It will be a slightly longer book with a more perilous story, a couple of evil men.

I am also getting ready to edit and submit books three and four in the Now and Forever series. Now and Forever 1, a Love Story will be published in September and Now and Forever 2, the Book of Danny will be published in November, both from Secret Cravings Publishing. I am also working on some short projects, too. One started from the fun writing prompt "ice cream" that became a full blown story to me, now titled  "Mint Chip."  I publish excerpts from my works-in-progress on my blog once a week. Feedback helps me with those.

LF: How can people find you online?

JJ: I have a website: www.nowandforeverbooks.com and a blog: http://jeanjoachim.blogspot.com.

Thank you so much, Lisa, for this opportunity to appear on your blog.

Moonlight and Merlot

The continuing saga of the lives, loves and heartbreaks of the residents of Dion Valley, CA.

As with all the best things in life, this is for adults only.

*****

Nick had failed. He knew it right down to his very bones. He had failed and now something very bad had happened and it was all his fault.

These thoughts chased round and round in his head as he knelt in the dirt beside Lela, only vaguely listening to her shout with Phoebe. She had told him to watch Phoebe, told him, and he didn't. Well, he had in fact watched her, but he had not what he had failed to do was react fast enough.

He could still see if all clearly in his mind's eye though he wished to God that he did not. There they were standing in a square formation, wind and unearthly power rushing around them, through them, over them as Lela chanted the strange, wonderful and menacing words she had wanted to say for so very long. The night had seemed to get darker, the air thicker with every word she pronounced and it felt to Nick like every single hair on his body was standing painfully up from fright and electricity as something terrible and magnificent began to coalesce around them.

And then it happened. He had been looking right at her too and still he had been helpless to stop it. Phoebe had very carefully, very deliberately had taken one, giant step backward. One step and as soon as her back foot touched the ground it felt like an explosion had gone off right there in the middle of their gathering. An explosion that knocked the air out his lungs and slammed him to the ground with such authority that it was many minutes before he could even get up again.

But that wasn't even the worst part.

No, the worst part had been when he felt a force that had been something like an ice-cold wind blow by him and out of the circle. Out into the night.

Phoebe and Lela continued to argue, but Nick could barely hear the words. Not that it mattered. No amount of talking was going to repair the damage they had done tonight.

Nick didn't consider himself a religious man nor superstitious, but somehow he knew without a doubt that they had just released something ancient, something awful and evil and god help him, unholy, into Dion Valley.

Six Sentence Sunday

Six fun sentences from my Irish myth, Logan's Treasure, which will be part of Lucy Felthouse's awesome upcoming mythology anthology.

Logan made his way to the bar, ordered a beer and lifted it high. "To Reef Dancer," he announced, saluting his ship and his crew. Everyone echoed the toast and happily drank. He beamed at his men, sharing with them this moment of complete success. It had taken months of digging, of sifting and searching and probing, but they had finally done it. That very morning they'd uncovered a nearly four hundred year old Spanish galleon buried not far off the coast and there, within the main hull, they found their wildest dreams.

Make sure to stop by the OFFICIAL SITE (now a .com and everything!) and check all of this week's sexy samples!

Presenting the Awesome DD Symms & CONTEST!

It is my extreme pleasure to have DD SYMMS here with me today!

LisaFox: So, tell us about you. Who is DD Symms?

DDSymms: An erotic romance writer with a noisy, crowded household – who is passionate, has acted and written scenes in workshops around LA, and who studied short story writing in university. I've had a fascination and enjoyment of the erotic genre for many years and in recent years became intrigued with romance, too.

LF: You are a romance author, but do you consider yourself a romantic?

DD: Yeah, I'm a romantic—I like restaurants with nice ambiance, candles, quiet moments to reflect, talk, kiss and…you get the picture. It's the details that turn me on and create passion – and I want to keep striving to bring those out in my stories. Maybe it shows in my music tastes as well—Diana Krall is a favorite musician and The Look of Love is one of my favorite songs. The emotion resonates with me.

LF: RIDING SHOTGUN features a seriously interesting array of characters. Tell us about them.

DD: Brianna Heathstone is a Hollywood producer, divorced, and is driven yet tired from her work and personal life. She's on a pursuit of pleasure when her car breaks down. She's highly frustrated when the story opens. There's a comedic element in her frustration and I use her to explore the fine line between comedy and drama.

Andrew McCarty is an attorney-turned-garage owner from Southern California, lured to the High Desert by a small town atmosphere. He's easy going and enjoys helping others.

Mike is Andrew's trusty mechanic. He's a bit clumsy, funny, and truly cares about the customer.

Pete argent is an obnoxious salesman who gets in everyone's business, has his own wife-of-the-week club and hits on Brianna while she's waiting at Andrew's garage.

The characters provide laughs and heat.

LF: Some of your work features BDSM, but there is so much more to the lifestyle than whips and chains and leather restraints. How do you set your work apart from the typical fetish club scene that seems to dominate (if you'll pardon the pun) BDSM stories?

DD: In my stories, the exploration of BDSM is like personal development. One character wants to know more and then experience the sensations. In Riding Shotgun and in Layover, the heroine draws out the Dom's knowledge of BDSM and his passion. It becomes an erotic investigation and fuels the passion the heroine and hero have for each other. Andrew, in Riding Shotgun, tries to hide his BDSM desires from Brianna because he doesn't want to be rejected. So there's vulnerability and a high degree of sensuality for both people.

LF: You seem to feature Los Angles quite a bit in your writing. What makes LA so special?

DD: The LA ideal of glitz and glamour is always just out-of-reach for most people. It's the actor that gets the third call back but doesn't get the part; the person who's in a hurry and sits stuck in traffic in what was once an efficient freeway system. It's fascinating. It's like hundreds of small towns jammed together, featuring hundreds of different language groups. Yet, LA is not featured in stories and movies the way New York is. There's a high level of frustration in the city—in addition to cultural pursuits and those who have their dreams fulfilled.

LF: Any new projects in the works?

DD: I'm finishing up my novel Masterful Delights and prepping it for an editor who has requested the full manuscript. It takes place in downtown LA. A PR consultant falls in love with a developer who finds himself struggling with a former business partner and council member's chief of staff to make his innovative development work.

And I have a novella I'm working on about a woman who returns to her parents' home in Ohio to turn it into a bed and breakfast.

LF: How can people find you online?

DD: Check my site http://ddsymms.wordpress.com, Twitter @ddsymms, or Facebook.

Hollywood producer Brianna Heathstone flees a humiliating divorce driving Highway 395 from LA to Tahoe for a well-deserved vacation. But when her BMW breaks down in the High Desert, she discovers a sexy mechanic who gives her an erotic ride bursting with passion. She discovers love and eroticism can co-exist.

Moonlight and Merlot

The continuing saga of the lives, loves and heartbreaks of the residents of Dion Valley, CA.

As with all the best things in life, this is for adults only.

*****

The air whipped around him as he soared higher and higher into the night sky. He couldn't quite believe the human had done as she was bid and stepped out of the circle. Her ego had been far greater than most he had encountered in the past and he had doubted her desire to assist him.

The thing that called itself Aster floated high above the heads of the four humans around the Alter, drinking in the night. He had no physical body at the moment, but that was a trifling thing. Form was merely a thought, reality little more than a combination of belief and will and he would choose how he would appear among the humans soon enough. For now, he just wanted to bask in the glory of freedom.

It had been centuries since the last time he had harried this realm, since he had walked among the humans, talked with them, laughed with them, tempted them. The pitiful, delightful, selfish, succulent humans. The possibilities were indeed endless and he couldn't wait for his reign over these territories to begin once more.

His unwitting human accomplices began scrambling around below him, regaining their senses, and Aster decided it was time to leave. He was still weak from the transition into the human world and he did not want that witch to bind him back to the darkness before he had even gotten a taste of joys it had to offer. He would have to contend with her eventually, he knew that all to well, but it would be far better to deal with her when he had regained his strength. And possibly even added to it.

His first order of business was to find a lair. A little hidey-hole where he could rest and relax. And plan. Aster was very, very good at plans and wonderful, evil thoughts were already spinning around in his mind as he floated on the wind, away from the Alter. That Alter had to go. That was his number one priority. It played an intrinsic part in what was required to send him back to where he came from and he didn't want to go back. Not ever.

[Until next Tuesday…]
