Moonlight and Merlot
The continuing saga of the lives, loves and heartbreaks of the residents of Dion Valley, CA.
As with all the best things in life, this is for adults only.
*****
Sometimes epiphanies just happened out of nowhere.
Zach sat on the hard ground and watched as Phoebe stormed off in the direction of his car. Something about the arrogant sway of her hips, the haughty flip of her hand, struck him hard and opened his eyes and he was treated to one, shining, horrifying moment of total clarity.
He hated her.
Why did he put up with her shit? With her whinnying and selfishness and total disregard for everyone and everything? With her manipulations and her schemes and her flaky, flighty self-indulgence?
Was the sex that good?
And though it pained him, he did have to admit that the sex was that good. Phenomenal even. Not only was Phoebe beautiful, with a body that would have made Aphrodite herself jealous, but she was also athletic and daring and willing to anything, really and absolutely anything in bed.
What man could say no to that?
It was quite frankly addicting and no other girl he had ever met had ever possessed the drive, the desire, the pure, unquenchable need Phoebe had to fuck and fuck and fuck. And he was more than happy to accommodate her whenever she called.
But maybe, finally, the price for all that incredible sex had become too high. Maybe he needed not for his mind to be blown anymore, but rather for the simple comforts of an honest and caring relationship.
He looked over at Lela and Nick, watched as he helped her to her feet, the way she stroked his cheek, their hands moving over one another, checking each other for any injuries. Simple, human kindness and, well, love, Zach supposed.
Oh, but that sex…
Was he that shallow?
"Zaaaach," Phoebe called from somewhere off in the distance.
It was that familiar tone in her voice that finally made get to his feet and follow after her. It was the voice that promised all kinds of bad, mad fun. Wild romps and rough rides.
He glanced back at Nick and Lela once and then went to find his girl. He supposed shallow was all right. There were worse things.

Six Sentence Sunday
This week's six are from an old free read of mine called SPRING FEST. Many of you may have read it already. The only reason I highlight it this week is because I turned it into a free eBook on Smashwords. Just for fun really. I did edit it a bit, but it is essentially the exact same story it always was, though now it has a cover and is available in all sorts of fancy downloadable forms.
And that makes it infinitely cooler, right?
Maybe she did have a slight chance. She didn't want to think about it too much and jinx herself or let the fantasies that kept her company on the long, lonely, country nights take control, but she had been seeing quite a bit of Derek around town. He always seemed to be where she was. Always with a smile and a complement and some witty banter. But maybe that was more a consequence of how small Alexandria was rather than any real interest on his part. Julia couldn't decide, but regardless of the reason, she fully enjoyed every single one of their encounters.
If you'd like, you can download it right here: SPRING FEST

Special Guest Jessica Subject & GIVEWAY!!
I am so excited to have my friend, super-hot sci-fi romance author, JESSICA SUBJECT here with me today! She's got a really great prize package giveaway going on so be sure to leave a comment to win!
JessicaSubject: Ah, sorry. I'm trying not to drool here since I'm surrounded by so many hot men. Thank you for having me, Lisa! I see Hugh is by your side.
LisaFox: As always my friend. I don't let him out of my sight for long. He's always trying to sneak away. But enough about me. Tell us about you. Who is Jessica Subject?
JS: I am a wife, mother, reader of multiple genres and science-fiction romance author. I believe everyone in the universe deserves a happily ever after.
LF: You are a romance author, but do you consider yourself a romantic?
JS: Um, yes and no. I'm a romantic when it comes to my writing, but I know things are different in reality. Unfortunately, not everyone gets their HFN or HEA ending.
LF: Frey, your hero in CELESTIAL SEDUCTION, is an alien just looking for love. Tell us more about him.
JS: Frey Berger arrived on Earth as a field informant for the Space Service from the planet Guinnun. On his home planet, all emotions are banned, including love for life partner and child. After spending a year on Earth, he realizes he wants to feel all human emotions, including love. He learns of Madame Evangeline's dating service, but is unaware of the definition of a one-night stand. Celestial Seduction tells the tale of what happens between him and Carrie during their night together.
LF: Who plays him in the movie?
JS: When I was writing the story, I really didn't have anyone in mind. But every time I look at the cover, I think . He'd be perfect!
(Totally gratuitous David pic for your viewing pleasure)
LF: If you could, would you ever change places with any of your characters? Which one?
JS: In Celestial Seduction, I'd have to say Carrie. She had a horrible marriage before Frey, but he gave her something no one else could. If all aliens are like Frey, I'd love to experience Carrie's night with him.
LF: Who would you break the law to meet?
JS: Um, that depends which law it is. I wouldn't do anything that would lead to incarceration to meet anyone. If it's like parking in a no-parking area or something like that, I can think of so many. On the top of that list would be Nathan Fillion (heck, the entire cast of Castle) and Chris Pine. Although, if I ever did meet any of them, I'd probably be so tongue-tied, I wouldn't say anything.
LF: Any new projects in the works?
JS: I've finished another short SFR story, no aliens this time that is part of a top-secret project. I have a novel out on submission, and I've started another short story, this time contemporary erotic. No sci-fi. *gasp* It's harder than I expected.
LF: How can people find you online?
JS: My blog, Twitter, Facebook and Goodreads
Thank you for having me Lisa! I'd love to stay and play, but I hear a child calling. Or maybe that's my muse. LOL

At the end of his obligated commitment to the Space Service, Frey Berger decides to stay on Earth to further experience human emotions rather than return to Ginnun where his intended has already mated with another. Looking for real love and someone to accept him for what he is, Frey enlists in Madame Evangeline's popular dating service. Although he does not understand the concept of a one-night stand, he hopes to find his perfect mate. If he fails, he risks being alone on Earth for the rest of his life.
Carrie Cooper's husband divorced her for another woman who could provide him with children, leaving her with little self-confidence and no desire to let a man hurt her again. When her best friend convinces her to join a dating service, Carrie decides one night of passion is harmless since there's no commitment after the night is over.
Although several misunderstandings nearly derail them before the date even begins, Frey and Carrie end up closer than they ever believed possible. Still, Frey needs to convince Carrie her perfect mate isn't human at all, and that one night can lead to a forever love.
GIVEAWAY!!!
Anyone who comments can send me their address (fill out form here – 'postcard' in subject line) for a signed postcard. I will choose one commenter at random on July 25 at noon EST and they will win added Celestial Seduction swag.

Moonlight and Merlot
The continuing saga of the lives, loves and heartbreaks of the residents of Dion Valley, CA.
As with all the best things in life, this is for adults only.
*****
So that was it. It was over. What a waste of fucking time.
Phoebe heaved herself to her feet with a heavy sigh. She shot Zack a dirty look. He still sat across from her slack-jawed and wide-eyed. What was the point of having a boyfriend if all they did was stare off into space and drool instead of being a gentleman and helping the lady to her feet, seeing to all her needs? She really did need to upgrade, but the problem was Zack was the pinnacle of what Dion Valley had to offer.
Truly pathetic.
She glanced over at Nick and Lela and watched as her pawed her shoulder, fawning over her like she was… Phoebe didn't even know what. Something.
She looked around the Altar, at the drawn and haggard faces of her friends, and scowled. This whole scene was despicable and nauseating. It was time to go. Immediately. "Get up," she barked at Zack. "We're leaving."
"We're not through yet," Lela said, pointing a very accusatory finger at her.
Phoebe tsked. Didn't Lela know pointing was rude? Considering Lela's trailer-trash background, Phoebe figured she probably didn't, so she decided to forgive her. Just this once. "Yes, we are, Lela," she said, as patiently as possible.
"We need to correct what you did!" Lela bellowed, wagging that finger around for all she was worth. "We can't just leave whatever it is you released free in Dion Valley."
Phoebe sighed. It was sad when you had to explain the obvious to someone. She guessed maybe if she used really small words Lela might understand. "Do you know how to do that?"
"What?" Lela asked, blinking hard.
"Do you know how to 'correct' what happened tonight?" Phoebe asked, her voice dripping sweet patience.
"I, um, well, no…"
Phoebe nodded sagely as Lela stammered. "Of course you don't. You don't even know what happened and until you do, there's is nothing we can do." She frowned over at Zack, who had still not managed to get to his feet. "So, there's no point in staying here, is there? Other than to lay around on the ground and moan about whose fault to was. And since that's not going to help you figure anything out, it's time to go." She gave Lela an indulgent smile.
Lela looked her dead in the eyes and a sudden chill trembled crookedly down Phoebe's spine. "You are going to help me correct his."
"Fine," she said, breaking that terrible eye contact with a flip of her wrist. Better to just agree now rather than have to endure weeks of Lela's moaning and whining and attempts at cajoling.
"Go then," Lela said, obviously dismissing her. Dismissing her! Phoebe opened her mouth to tell the other woman a little something about basic manners, but the look on Lela's face stopped the words in her mouth. "I will be in touch, Phoebe," Lela said, eyes blazing. "Count on it."
It felt like a cold finger pressed into the base of her spine. Phoebe paused, shivered, but then instantly recovered herself. She didn't need to deal with this bullshit. She drew herself up as tall as she could and then strode away.

Six Sentence Sunday
Yet another new project I am working on. So many projects.
Anyway, the hero here is a lust demon and consequently he must feed on, well, lust. He is on the hunt for a meal when he meets our heroine.
He reached out with a fine strand of psychic energy and lightly touched her most primal core, sampling her inner fire. He couldn't wait to fully tap into it, to tease and cajole it to its highest heights and then feed and feed and feed. "I think I might be in love with you," he said, giving her his very best smile.
"Are you sure it's love you feel?" she asked, a smile dancing along the corners of her mouth. Her eyes flicked from his eyes very deliberately down to his crotch and then back up again. "Or something else entirely?"
