Chating with Karenna Colcroft & GIVEAWAY!
I am so excited to have multi-published romance author, KARENNA COLCROFT here with me today! Make sure to leave a comment to be entered to win your choice of one of her previous Ellora's Cave titles! (Seeds of Desire or Hear Me, See Me)
LisaFox: So, tell us about you. Who is Karenna Colcroft?
KarennaColcroft: Karenna Colcroft is an alter ego. In real life, I'm pretty shy, but in my writing, I'm anything but! I've been writing since I was five years old, and started writing erotic romance in 2006 after a challenge from a friend. My first erotic romance e-book was published in 2009, and since then I've been published by several e-publishers, including Pink Petal Books, Ellora's Cave, Noble Romance, Siren Publishing, and MLR Press.
LF: You are a romance author, but do you consider yourself a romantic?
KC: I never used to, but since I met my husband in May 2008, I'd have to say yes.
LF: Tell us all about Will, your hero in FOREVER WITH BENEFITS.
KC: Will has a good heart and is very intelligent. He was an athlete in high school and had college scholarships, but gave those up to stay in town and help his mother take care of his ill father. He's dated, of course, but has always kept a soft spot in his heart for Haylie Betancourt, the heroine of the story.
LF: Who plays him in the movie?
KC: When I created the character, I was visualizing an older version of Chord Overstreet, who played Sam on Glee. So I guess if the movie is made in ten years or so, Chord could play Will.
(picture him just as sexy, but older)
LF: Do you have any particular writing rituals?
KC: No, I don't. I just sit at my computer and hope that the words come out.
LF: You are stuck on a deserted island. A magic genie appears and though you cannot leave the island, you are allowed to ask for five things. What are they?
KC: 'd really rather leave the island…I'm kind of oppositional that way. I guess barring that, I'd ask for a pile of wood, a saw, a hammer, a bunch of nails, and some cloth. Then I could build my own sailboat or raft and try to leave the island that way.
LF: Any new projects in the works?
KC: Several. I just finished and submitted Veggie Burgers to Go, a sequel to my M/M shifter novel Salad on the Side, which was released in June from MLR Press. I also just submitted another novella to Ellora's Cave, Remind Me, about a married couple who go to extremes to try to bring the sexual spark back to their marriage. I'm working on the first draft of an M/F novel currently titled Beta Test, about a werewolf pack beta (second in command) who finds his mate—who is human. Some of the characters from Salad on the Side make "cameo" appearances; the novel will be submitted to MLR's sister imprint Passion in Print. I have a couple other projects in the planning stages but haven't started writing them yet.
LF: How can people find you online?
KC: My website is http://www.karennacolcroft.com. My blog is part of that site. I'm on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/karenna.colcroft, and on Twitter as @KarennaColcroft. I have an Amazon Author page and a Goodreads account, but I'm unfortunately very bad about remembering to check those…

Haylie Betancourt has never had time for love, which is why in high school, she refused to act on her feelings for Will Shaw. Ten years later, a chance encounter with Will has her thinking. Love still isn't in her plans, but since they're in the same town, why not be friends with benefits?
The first time she and Will sleep together, it's incredible. And the sex just keeps getting hotter. But so do Will's feelings for Haylie and his feeling that she's using him. When he tells Haylie he wants more than sex, she rejects him. But it doesn't take her long to realize that she wants the same thing he does. After all, sex only gets better when love's involved.

Moonlight and Merlot
The continuing saga of the lives, loves and heartbreaks of the residents of Dion Valley, CA.
As with all the best things in life, this is for adults only.
*****
Lela was disappointed and disheartened, disillusioned, distressed, disgusted, depressed, discouraged and dismayed. She tired to think of more 'D' words that she was as she watched Phoebe and then Zack depart, leaving her alone with Nick and the Altar and her failure. Thinking about 'D' words helped a bit, helped keep her from shrieking to the stars at the injustice of it all. All her work, all her planning, all her efforts for nothing. Dispirited. She was that too.
"We should go," Nick said quietly by her side and Lela nodded. Unfortunately, there was nothing more they could do there, at least not tonight. There would be work to be done at the Altar, of that Lela was certain, but it wouldn't come until much, much later.
"Damn," she muttered and leaned heavily on Nick as he guided her toward her car. The explosion from whatever Phoebe had done had knocked her on her ass terribly hard and her whole body was sore.
"What?" Nick asked, his grip tightening around her waist, but Lela just shook her head. She wasn't much in the mood to talk. Too dejected.
Nick helped her into the passenger side of her own car and then got in the driver's seat. She supposed he would come back later for his bike. She pressed her forehead against the cool glass window and closed her eyes as he started the engine. Everything was so damn dismal.
"Are you going to mope all night?" Nick asked, starling her out of her revere. She had just decided that things were also dreary and desolate.
She turned her head and smiled at his handsome profile. He truly was a beautiful man. And kind. So very kind. He was something to be very thankful for. She reached out and lightly touched his cheek, his dark stubble tickling her fingertips. "I just need to have a little pity party for myself right now, okay? This is not how I thought this night would go."
"I know," he said, glancing at her and then back at the road. "Is there anything I can do?"
"No," she said, shaking her head. "I'll be better tomorrow." Those few words, his offer of assistance, lightened her mood. Maybe things weren't as dour as she feared. Maybe there was some delight to be had after all.
[Until next Tuesday…]

Six Sentence Sunday
Here are the opening lines to the lust demon thing I'm playing around with.
The deep, melodic trance music vibrated through Trask's body, teasing and caressing his already hypersensitive cock as he prowled the crowded dance floor. He was hungry, so very, very hungry, and the time had come for him to find a willing partner for the night. Any one of the mortals undulating around him would have sufficed, but so far, none of them appealed to him. The need gnawed at his insides, but Trask waited, searching for the one. It paid to be a little bit discriminating. It always made the feast so much more gratifying.
(Doesn't he just look like his name should be Trask?)

Special Guest Lee Ann Sontheimer Murphy & GIVEAWAY!!
Romance author Lee Ann Sontheimer Murphy stops by this week to tell us all about her new release, LOVE KNOTS. Don't forget to leave a comment to win a copy of your very own!
***
Somewhere in the distant mists of time, it began – this human fascination with creatures of the night. Somehow, for some reason that I don't begin to fathom, many of us find such beings sexy and sensual. Even though I don't understand the appeal, I feel it too and have since I was still a little girl. Although I feel a pull toward the dark and erotic, perhaps the one that has always fascinated me the most would the vampire.
The mystique exists, however, and continues to grow with the popularity of Edward from the Twilight series, Jean-Claude from Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake books, and many others. If I can believe what some readers say about my truck driving, cigarillo smoking Irish vampire, Will Brennan, then he joins other fictional vamps who will be long remembered.
Will is the hero in my popular Love Covenant series that began with Love Tattoo. All the novels in the series are told by heroine Cara Riley, a Texas gal singer with a lot of moxie and a thing for Will. He adds a little from his point of view every few chapters, third person.
This week, the third novel in the series, Love Knots, is out from Evernight Publishing.
Here's the blurb:
After surviving the wrath of a wicked she-vampire bent on revenge, Will and Cara Brennan have a new task – finding Will's brother that Sallie Hawkins made a vampire centuries ago. Both bear the scars of their battle but they're glad to be alive and together.
Cara wants to find the only family Will has in this world and so they set out on a search for Seamus that takes them from Memphis to the rough bars of Oklahoma , Las Vegas casinos, to Hollywood Boulevard and to New Orleans . Along the way, their love deepens and the sensual connection they share heightens.
Whether or not they find Seamus isn't the only issue – they have no way of knowing whether he has gone wicked or if he's an average vamp like them. The journey defines their love as the story told in the Love Covenant series continues in Love Knots.
And an excerpt from Love Scars, book three in my Love Covenant series from Evernight Publishing:
I stood, staring at the infinite ocean as it swept out to the farthest horizon, as far west as I could see, spread out north to south as well. The night sky stretched above me, just as endless and vast. I felt so small and yet not insignificant at all but empowered. If I needed a visual to define eternal, to paint a picture of what an everlasting love that I shared with Will, then there could be none better than this moment. I stared; eyes open wide and made a mental image, a brain snapshot to last forever, something to keep and remember always.
I wanted to sweep all of it into my arms, to embrace the ceaseless space, the immeasurable beauty, and the ageless wonder of the sea, the sky by night. I have no idea how long I stood there as the waves washed up around my feet, silent and yet filled with more emotion than I could ever select words to express but Will stood beside me, just as quiet, my hand clasped in his. We were part of this and we remained one. When I turned to him, eyes brimming with joyful tears, heart overflowing with love, he faced me and with his own eyes shimmering with moisture, he spoke words now familiar to me because he used them before.
Now, however, the beautiful poetry resonated with even more meaning for us both,
"And yet I wish but for the thing I have, my bounty is as boundless as the sea, my love as deep; the more I give to thee, the more I have for both are infinite."
The immensity of his love overwhelmed me, the power more enormous than anything, greater than any man made wonder. The scope of it stretched beneath the timeless stars, the wonder of it expanded through whatever heart I possessed, and brimmed over to flood my soul. What I had with Will Brennan, I thought, was worth all I gave up to claim it and whatever I might face at the end of time; I could because of this love.
The truth of that sang in my soul, a greater, stronger song that any I ever attempted to sing before. I wished I knew as much poetry as he did, Shakespeare or otherwise, but instead, the words that came into my mouth came, as usual, from a song. Suzi Quatro and Chris Norman did a song that I loved back in the late 1970's, vintage but with lyrics I loved so I sang some of them to Will now,
"Our love is alive and so it begins, foolishly laying our hearts on the table, stumbling in, our love is a flame, burning within."
He opened his arms to me, as broad and open as the vast panorama of water, wind, and sky spread out around us and I walked into them. I came home into his embrace and all the emotion, strong and potent, welled up in me and exploded so that I wept in his arms. I sobbed not with sadness but with immeasurable joy, rich feelings too volatile to contain. He wept, too, for I felt the rain of his tears, the tremors of his body against mine. After we spent our emotions, poured them into one another, we sat down on the sand, wrapped together and listened to the wondrous night music of God.
