One Good Thing
Christopher Koehler reviewed my new novella 'Another Enchanted April' on his site today. I love when other writers review my books. Fiction writers can be some of the most vicious critics because we can't put our internal editors away as we read a fellow writer's work. When another wordsmith says they like what I've done it's quite a treat. You can check out his review HERE, and while you're there, give some of his writings an eyeful.

Numbers. Today I passed the 1000 mark on my Facebook friends. Now, I know 'Friends' is a loose term there. It includes everything from true friends to relatives, publishers, other writers, clothing designers, artists, musicians, and so forth and so on. The phrase 'Friend Whore' has been levelled at me on many occasions. But, along with keeping in contact with my friends from college and life, I use Facebook in the same manner as I once used Myspace when I had an account there: as promo. And, too, while my Facebook vagina - my Face-gina, if you will - is admittedly loose, it's not as gaping as some others I know. I wish I had the talent to be as Facewhorrish as my friends and fellow writers Rick Reed, Charlie David, or Josh Aterovis. But then, their fame exceeds my own by bounds. Dare I dream?!
Anyway, Facebook Whorrishness. Definitely a good thing!

Okay. I'm going to try to start this up again. I received a very sweet email from someone who wanted to know where they had gone. Why wasn't I writing them any longer? My response was that I had indeed intended to start them up again, but...I forgot.
I'm a lazy bitch.
Anyway, there is a red bird that steals my cat's food. It's not like Kitteh Kitteh is starving, but, BELIEVE ME, neither is this bird! It is the heftiest red bird I have ever seen. The only reason I've been able to see him closely is because he's too heavy to lift off immediately. I mean, this bird doesn't even tweet anymore. He says "I'M HUNGRY!" like Chris Farley in that old SNL Gap Girls sketch. I think Kitteh Kitteh might be letting him eat her food on purpose to fatten him up. One day she's going to pounce. I just know it. There will be blood. And lots of red feathers.
Fat little red birds. Those darling dinosaur descendants are definitely good things!

Patty Griffin, Up to the Mountain (A tribute to MLK)
I think I posted this last year on this day as well, but it's a stirring collage of images, and Patty Griffin's song is magic.
