One Good Thing
Pffffft. Very boring day. Sundays are strange for me. I look forward to Sunday morning all week so I can have my Sunday Morning Brownie. It's a delight. Truly. But then, when I'm nearly finished with it, the knowledge creeps over me that I have to wait a whole seven days to have another one. Then I think to myself, "How sad is it that your chief excitement in the week is a brownie?" Then I tell myself to shut up, and that I'm not the boss of me. I have a rule of not writing on the weekends to give a bit of separation to my life. Bookends to my writing week. Without these bookends you can lose track of days, with one day running into another like that, life becomes tedious very fast.
What was the point of this post?
Oh, yeah. A good thing. Ummmmm...I liked the Subway sandwich I just ate. That was pretty good. There were Doritos on it, which I know sounds a little childish, but I never actually ate sandwiches with chips on them when I was a kid, so I'm just playing catch-up. Not ketchup, catch-up. I still can't eat ketchup. Blech.

Stayin' Alive In The Wall (Pink Floyd vs Bee Gees Mashup) by Wax Audio
Another great mash-up, though I'm not a fan of Saturday Night Fever, and The Wall was one of the freakiest film experiences I've ever had.

One Good Thing
Good temps. Finally. Today is the first day of decent temperature in weeks. This has been a crapper of a winter. It's been cold and miserable throughout most of the country with little let-up. Today, however, there be hope! I had forgotten about spring. But, sure enough, it's next in the seasonal line. We just need to hold out for a few more weeks. Be strong, my brothers and sisters! Be strong...and stay bundled!
Oh, and as an extra Good Thing, today I was told the release date for Woke Up in a Strange Place . February 25th!! Squeeeee!! I'm gonna try to put together a launch party.

One Good Thing
Good reviews. Chris at Stumbling Over Chaos gave Another Enchanted April a wonderful little review over there. It's always great to find reviews unexpectedly. I Google myself a lot. Like...A LOT. It's a writer thing. You have to know who's talking about your books to see if all that publicity is working. Most days things are pretty quiet. I don't kid myself. I'm no {insert towering name of accomplishment here}. But seeing Chris' review this morning was delightful. Delightful, I say! Definitely a good thing.

10 Favorite Female Literary Characters
I know I've forgotten one or two, but...
"Celie" from The Color Purple by Alice Walker. One of the most harrowing and touching novels ever written.
"Claudia" from Interview With The Vampire by Anne Rice. One of the truly great vampire tales, and a classic character that's part Dickens, part demon
"Daisy Goodwill Flett" from The Stone Diaries by Carol Shields. The reader gets to know this woman inside and out. From my alma mater, Hanover College.
"Dolores Claiborne" from Dolores Claiborne by Stephen King. I was astonished King wrote this character. Amazing!
"Galadriel" from The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien. The elf queen, said to be Tolkien's personal favorite character.
"Hester Prynne" from The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne. Classic lit.
"Lady Gertrude" from Gormenghast by Mervyn Peake. A domineering woman, as big a personality as the castle she inhabits.
"Lizbeth Salander" from The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson. Just a great character! Fresh and no holds barred.
"Mama Day" from Mama Day by Gloria Naylor. I picture Irma P. Hall in a film version.
"Morgaine Le Fay" from The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley. The best King Arthur retelling I've ever read, presenting the tale from the unfairly maligned Morgaine.
