One Good Thing

Got my hair did today. Actually, just got a trim. The ol' mop was a-gettin' shaggy. Just had it thinned out by my favorite stylist, Nina. I'm thinking I might have it highlighted on the tips and then I could have Farrah Hair and film myself shaking my head from side to side in slow motion. Fabulous.

My niece Serenity was there and, having just had her very first haircut last week, apparently loved that first experience so much she wanted to do it again. She kept trying to get me out of the seat so she could have her hair done. After Nina was through with my head, Serenity climbed into the chair and Nina played hairdresser with her for a minute.

This is the second time this week I've posted something about Serenity. I hope I'm not turning into one of those annoying people who constantly talks about their kids. Ah, well. C'est - as they say - la vie!

This commercial from festish gear site SLICK IT UP first makes me say "What the -?" Then it makes me say "I want that head-dress!" I know what I'm asking for next Christmas! Relief. You know that kind of relief when you've been standing up all day long only you don't realize you've been standing up all day long until something in your being shouts, "Hey! Sit your ass down!" and when you finally do every bone and muscle in your body joins in a collective sigh? That kind of relief. It also helps to be wearing shoes just so you can kick them off playfully.

One Good Thing

Galleys. I received the galley for my newest book Woke Up in a Strange Place from Dreamspinner. I'm very excited about this book. I think it represents some of my best writing and some of my wildest imaginings. It's set in the afterlife and centers around the idea of Eternal Return. All time is circular. I also received the cover art and it looks lovely! There isn't any info about the book up yet, because it's still being put together, but keep a look-out for it. Along with my fantastic and beautiful readers, fans of books like The Five People You Meet in Heaven and The Lovely Bones might also like it.

Seeing a favorite son in print. Definitely a good thing!
