One Good Thing
It's funny how my niece Serenity can make me forget about stupid, weighty things. She comes over and is soon jumping up and down on the bed and voguing to dance music, and I think, "Never lose that. Stay as carefree for the rest of your life. Dance to music that sounds like candy, and eat candy that tastes like music. What could be more important than that?"

Gay Pirates. A couple months ago I was introduced to Cosmo Jarvis' delightful same-sex sea shanty "Gay Pirates" and instantly broke into a jig. I loved it. However, the only way to purchase the song was to buy the imported CD, which, as you know, is pretty expensive. I have a rule that if a CD goes above $15, I don't buy it. Well, today "Gay Pirates" was at last released worldwide as a single and I was able to download it from Amazon. I shall now do my "Gay Pirates" jig in happiness. Cutie Cosmo Jarvis and his "Gay Pirates", definitely a good thing!

One Good Thing
Waves of Kindness. Yesterday I posted a piece about my experiences as a writer, thinking it would elicit some chuckles while getting my point across that writing is harder than it looks. What I got were messages and comments from other writers saying how much it moved them, and that what I had described in the piece struck a chord in them and rung true to their own lives. Life is a solitary thing. No matter how close we are to friends and family, we still all have to go through it, in a sense, alone. Knowing that there is someone out there who can empathize with you can mean everything in the world sometimes. So, thank you to everyone who wrote me about the piece. If I brightened your day and made you smile, I'm glad for it. Write on, my friends! ...but don't outsell me!
