Pen Names & Gender: What Romance Readers Want
First I have to preface this by saying the vast majority of participants in my not-very-scientific poll read M/M romances. Well, that only makes sense, as most of my contacts are fellow authors in this sub-genre! I think it is important to states this because in general, I have found readers and writers in this genre to be incredibly open-minded and supportive, and far more willing to take a risk on a romance that might be outside their comfort zone. I have no doubt that m...

Why A Middle-Aged Woman Identifies with “Frozen”
I recently saw the movie Frozen. I am completely besotted.
I should point out that this sort of obsession with animated musicals is not unusual for me. When I was in grad school, I used to record Jem and the Holograms and watch it every afternoon when I got home from class. It was the one thing I looked forward to during a difficult time in my life. Before that, it was Disney’s The Little Mermaid. Long after it left the theaters, I was belting out “Part of Your World” as I did the dishes and d...

The Muse is YOUR Bitch, not the other way around!
I’ve been having a hard time settling down to a new project these past few days, which is really annoying since the recent snowpocalypse gave me a LOT of unexpected free time that I now feel that I’ve wasted. I do understand that this is a normal wax and wane for me, that I tend to feel rudderless for a while after finishing a big project. I just finished and submitted the sequel to Unspeakable Words to Dreamspinner Press a few weeks ago and I’ve been floundering ever since. The truth of the...

Worth Keeping: Another winner from Susan Mac Nicol! Review, Interview & Giveaway!
I find book reviews difficult. There is really an art form to explaining why you like a story without revealing too much about it. After all, I want you to be able to experience the same thrill and satisfaction that I do–and that’s not possible if I give too much away…all the same, there are some stories that you can’t help but share with others, and Worth Keeping is one of those.
Be sure to read through the entire post to find out how you can win a copy of Stripped Bare or Saving Alexander!

Did Remington Steele do us a disservice? The bias against women
I was a huge Remington Steele fan back in the day. It was the one show I had to watch each week.
I loved the premise: a woman trying to make it as a private detective figures out that she’ll be more successful if she creates an imaginary boss–a decidedly masculine boss. She cobbles the name together out of things in her office and Remington Steele is born. In many ways, it’s a sheer stroke of genius. Young, pretty, and female, Laura Holt probably didn’t inspire confidence in the sort of people...

There’s all kinds of fun going on at Dreamspinner Press this weekend! Is that not the most beautiful banner you’ve ever seen? I love winter (as long as I can finally get warm at the end of the day) and I love scenes like this. And look! The entire store is discounted! Woot!
That means if you’ve been waiting to catch a sale before loading up your Christmas e-reader, here’s your chance! It also means 90% of my stories are on sale at the moment! Looking for a little paranormal romance? How about...
