Not Quite Shakespeare, Summer’s Sizzling Reads, and More!
Ah, lazy Sundays… for the past ten years, I’ve had to work most Sundays. Getting them back again has been lovely. Today I took the dog out for a walk in the forest while it was sunny and cool. Now it is clouding over and it looks like thunderstorms are on the way.
That’s okay. I’ve had a lovely late-morning breakfast with the BF, and I’ve got books to read and stories to write. I’m humming Keith Urban’s “Raining on Sunday” as I settle in on the couch.
First order of business: Not Quite Shakespe...

Susan Mac Nicol wows with a dose of Double Alchemy: Climax!
Hello, and welcome here today author Susan Mac Nicol as part of her Double Alchemy: Climax book tour! As most of you know, Susan is the author of such bestselling M/M romances as Stripped Bare, and Saving Alexander. She recently released Double Alchemy, the first of a two-part series dealing with warlocks and magic! In Double Alchemy, Susan created a unique world where warlocks are paired at an early age with a ‘Withinner’, an ancient sorcerer from a different time period. The two can feel an...

Why My Feminism isn’t About You
I’m supposed to be cleaning the house today. The BF has a sports thing he’s doing, and I have several days off in a row. I’ve just finished one major writing project and am that little lull before I’m ready to tackle a new one.
I’ve also been doing a bunch of research on the 1950s as part of the background I need for a new series I’m contemplating: think of it as Ward and June Cleaver meets the X-Files. With the emphasis on homemaking for ‘the little woman’ of that era, I might be feeling a bi...

Coming Soon! Not Quite Shakespeare from Dreamspinner Press
I’ve been haunting the Coming Soon page at Dreamspinner for the past few weeks now. I’m delighted at long last to be able to announce that the Not Quite Shakespeare Anthology is now available for pre-order on Dreamspinner Press!
Yay! I’m admittedly a bit of an Anglophile and I have been waiting impatiently for the release of this anthology! 15 short stories from some of your favorite M/M authors: all taking place in the lovely UK.
I have a story in the anthology titled Chanctonbury Ring, and my...

Permission to Fail
I’m a worst-case scenario kind of gal.
As someone with imagination by the bucketful, I can always picture the most dire outcome possible for virtually every scenario. Which is great if you’re looking for dramatic tension in a story, but pretty much sucks if you want to live your live without being constantly hounded by worry and fear.
Things aren’t going well for me at the moment. Money is beyond tight; it’s a laughing memory. I’ve had to make some sacrificial decisions based on the lack of fun...

Sarah Granger’s story is worth “A Minor Inconvenience”
Oh, I can’t tell you how pleased I am to be hosting Sarah Granger today as part of the A Minor Inconvenience book tour. I recently reviewed her wonderful M/M historical romance and I couldn’t sing its praises highly enough! I’m not the only one, either! Gay Guy Reading Reviews calls it ‘a breath of fresh air’, and I have to agree. I consider A Minor Inconvenience one of the best M/M romances I’ve read in 2014.
Be sure to read through the entire post to find out how you can enter the Raffleco...

Coming Soon: The Not Quite Shakespeare Anthology from Dreamspinner Press!
Today I’m over at Elin Gregory’s website speaking about my love of all things British. It’s all part of the run-up to the release of the Not Quite Shakespeare Anthology from Dreamspinner Press sometime next month!
Elin will be featuring posts from the authors involved in the anthology in the coming weeks, so do drop in and find out whose stories you can expect to read! I’m thrilled to be a part of this anthology–when I finally got to go to the UK a few years ago, it felt like I was coming home...

Is Our Thirst for Kink Promoting Rape Culture?
I shouldn’t be writing this blog post right now. I have a story on a tight deadline that’s kicking my ass and if I don’t get it DONE then I might well conclude that I have no business being a writer. I’ve been going through some deeply upsetting things in my personal life which has left me with the emotional stability of a three-year-old coming down from a sugar rush. And I know this post will piss a lot of people off. Also, there is no way I can say these things without sounding like a disgr...

The Closing of a Door
As these things go, I’d been aware for some time that this day was coming, but I was optimistic, oh so optimistic, that I could wriggle out of it once more. After all, I’d been in tighter spots before and had always managed to hang on. Today, however, it became apparent that, at least for the foreseeable future, my beloved mare would have to go to the ‘retirement farm’. There is no place to ride there. It is pasture board only.
It’s a lovely place, don’t get me wron...

Faberge Shampoo, or what are you working on now, Sarah Madison?
Remember that old Faberge shampoo commercial? You know, the one where the woman with the luxurious hair says, “And I told two friends, and they told two friends, and so on, and so on.”
That’s a bit how social media works, isn’t it?
I got tagged for a ‘and so on’ type of blog post by my friend and fellow author Margarita Gakis. The idea is that I answer a few questions about my writing and tag three more fellow authors, who will, well, you know. And so on. Margarita is the author of Trial by F...
