October 10, 2022: New Dice & Doodles On Warehouse 23

We've been in the laboratory crafting new dice, and we're happy to say . . . they're ALIVE!!! Sorry, it got a little Frankenstein-y in here. But we do have a brand new batch of dice, including new varieties for some of our most popular styles. If you're looking for seasonal specialties, Halloween d6 Dice are now available in both glow-in-the-dark and orange glitter, and the Dragon & Skull d6 Dice are now in green glitter and silver. These are perfect for your favorite Halloween games! The Starfish d6 Dice Set joins our series of Ocean Dice, and silver has been added to the roster of Meeple d6 Dice .

If you're looking for more spooky fun, we've created a physical version of the Deadly Doodles Halloween Scoring Pad to play with your game, so you don't have to print out tons of pages. We've also got a new restock of the classic dice game, Chupacabra! This quick-playing dice game features glow-in-the-dark molded dice – very apropos for a game in which Chupacabra steals your neighbor's goats and eats them! While this restock doesn't include a cup or box, you can check out our selection of dice bags for some alternative storage options.

October 9, 2022: Steve Interviewed By Dieku Games

Garry Snow of Dieku Games sat down with Steve and talked shop in a great podcast interview that covered many bases, including  The Fantasy Trip and GURPS , games like Munchkin and Car Wars , and much more. It's fascinating hearing about the early days of design in Steve's college days, zine editing, and how that led to game editing and development work. In addition, there are some fun easter eggs and what-ifs, such as what might have happened if Steve had been able to keep the rights to The Fantasy Trip throughout the years. It's a great listen for anyone, but if you're an aspiring game designer, it's really a must. Steve offers up a lot of insight into design, and Garry's focus on design leads into some great questions and topics for that audience.

October 7, 2022: Autoduel For A Buck!!!

Huge news, gang! The classic Autoduel computer game, first released in 1985, is now available for only a single dollar. This is an archival edition of the game, and it is buggy, but it is official Autoduel and a legal copy of the game you can play today on your Windows 10 or above machine.

We know that many, many of you would like to see an upgraded and expanded edition of the Autoduel video game . . . and while we aren't yet ready with the details, we can say that we're working on things. Steve and I have already sat in on several meetings and had a look at concept art and game screens. We've even been listening to the new soundtrack! The new Autoduel isn't ready, but it is coming. And it is looking incredible.

News to come! While you wait, you can give the classic game a shot for only a buck.

October 5, 2022: Car Wars Sixth Edition In Stores Today!

This is it, gang! After years of hard work and the support and patience of thousands of Kickstarter backers, we can officially report that Car Wars Sixth Edition reaches store shelves today! As reported in this Daily Illuminator post, the two different two-player starter sets are the first to land in stores, and you may play them separately or combine them to seat up to four players at the table.

If you would like to learn more about how the new game plays, please check out this Penny Arcade video from earlier this year as Car Wars Sixth Edition hits the table.

You can find Car Wars Sixth Edition at your local game store or, if you don't have a local store, the game is available today at our online store, Warehouse 23.

October 3, 2022: Roll The Deck! Kickstarter Ending Today!

We're all in, and Roll The Deck! is about to shuffle off Kickstarter! The support for this book of games that work with our Pick a Card Dice has been excellent. We've had the good fortune to be able to create some unique gaming books recently, and it all comes from the support our fans have shown for these types of projects. Without the support of previous releases like Random Fun Generator and the Nanogame series, we couldn't confidently make unique books and accessories like this. We've got a lot of new ideas coming down the pipe, and the success of projects like Roll The Deck! helps to shape those future releases.  You've still got some time to back, but the campaign closes this afternoon, so get your pledge in soon. Don't be a joker!

October 2, 2022: Car Wars Sixth Edition Playmat Pre-Orders Close Tomorrow

If you're a fan of Car Wars Sixth Edition (in stores on October 5th!), then you have one final day to place your pre-order for the new City Block playmats. The BackerKit pre-order page lists the three new playmats, while also giving everyone a chance at other Car Wars Sixth Edition playmats, games, expansions, and accessories.

Warehouse 23 is a small space, so we're unlikely to produce many more playmats than we need to cover the pre-orders. If you're looking to add these new City Block playmats to your collection, we recommend pre-ordering, since there's no guarantee that we will have extra copies for sale after we fulfill the pre-orders. (We're likely to offer another chance to pre-order them in the future; these are not one-and-done releases.)

October 1, 2022: Hack & Slash Expands With Whack & Stash

Our family-friendly game of dungeon adventures, Hack & Slash , has performed well enough that the game is currently on a second printing . . . and we're finalizing work on the game's first expansion. Designed by Will Schoonover, the new Whack & Stash tuckbox expansion adds 11 new quest cards to the game and introduces a new card type: treasures! The new quests offer up the usual rewards – points and meeples – and a chance to snatch a treasure that may grant you a power during the game or may be saved to count as points at the end of the game. 

With the creative work wrapped up, our next step is scheduling the expansion for a 2023 release. Until it is ready for your table, though, you can prepare by playing several rounds of Hack & Slash with your friends and family. If you're unfamiliar with the game and want to know more, this Boing Boing article from 2021 will shine some light on the gameplay. It's not a complex game, but it is a fun distraction and keeps the kids entertained! 

"This is a great gateway game for fantasy roleplaying or more involved fantasy wargaming. It has many of the trappings of a dungeon delver, with orcs, trolls, dragons, caverns, treasures, and the all-important tavern."

You can find the Hack & Slash game at your favorite local game store today. If your store doesn't have Hack & Slash on their shelves, you may either ask to special order it or, if you wish, order it direct from our online store, Warehouse 23.
