October 20, 2022: Steve Jackson's Munchkin® Presents BATMAN™ Second Printing

[Image] The game may have only reached stores within the last month, but we've already sold through the first printing of the retail edition of the game and placed a second printing order with the factory. This does not mean that the game is unavailable; you can find Steve Jackson's Munchkin Presents Batman at your favorite local game store, Barnes & Noble, Amazon, and our online store, Warehouse 23

When we sell out of a game at our primary warehouse, this means that copies are out of our hands, but still available in distributor warehouses and on store shelves. It can take a few weeks, or a few months, for those channels to run dry, so we think we're okay and that the game will remain available through the holiday season. We hope.

Note that this applies only to the retail edition of the game. At the moment, we have a healthy supply of the game's Kickstarter edition, and we're pretty sure that will remain available for several months. Maybe. We hope.

The second printing is expected to ship to distrubutors in early 2023.

October 19, 2022: Car Wars Miniature Set 1 And Set 2 In Stores Today!

Miniatures Set 1 The reinforcements have arrived for your next autoduel! Add some new vehicles to your games of Car Wars Sixth Edition with Car Wars Miniatures Set 1 and Set 2, arriving in local game stores now. Each set features five new car sculpts, some based on classic designs while others bring a new twist to the Car Wars universe. You also get four bases in each of the core game colors for more action, plus an arsenal of new upgrade cards for even more customization. These are perfect additions to both versions of the  Car Wars Two-Player Starter Sets  that reached game stores earlier this month!

The cars are supplied unpainted, but we've been doing hobby streams on #SJGamesLive featuring our own studio artist, Ben Williams, with some great tips and tricks on painting them up yourself. You can check out that stream on YouTube, and there's also a great How-to-Play video from Penny Arcade to get you started on your autodueling journey.

Look for these new sets at your local game store or on our webstore, Warehouse 23, if you don't have a store near you!

October 18, 2022: Bullet Dice Third Printing In Stores

[Image] When we released the Bullet Dice  set in early 2019, we hoped that dice collectors and gamers would enjoy the design as much as we do. Considering that we have sold through two printings – and sold thousands of copies of the Z-Shot game (that includes a dozen of the dice!) – we feel confident that these dice have found their audience and that many of you do enjoy the design. These custom six-sided dice are unlike any of the other dice in our catalog, and they work great with any number of classic wargames.

The third printing shipped earlier this year and is now in stores.

Please visit our store finder to locate the game store closest to you. If you do not have a local game store, you may also find these custom dice at Warehouse 23 and Amazon.com.

October 17, 2022: Kickstarter Reports, October 2022 Update

After a successful August (several projects were officially closed), we're focusing on a few smaller crowdfunding campaigns before we tackle something a tad bigger. What's the next big project? We have a number of games to choose from, but we haven't quite settled on which one will drop next. Please follow us on Kickstarter – Steve Jackson Games and Warehouse 23 – to receive notice when we launch new campaigns.

Roll the Deck, For Use With Steve Jackson's Pick a Card DiceSeptember 21 to October 3950 backers and on scheduleThis small collection of new games for use with the Pick a Card Dice set performed quite well. The booklet is moving into the printing stage very soon.Hexagram #10, an Old-School RPG Zine for The Fantasy TripAugust 31 to September 12694 backers and on scheduleThe project is currently at print. We'll post an update once everything has reached the warehouse.Steve Jackson Games' 2022 GURPS Pyramid SchemeAugust 2 to August 111,436 backers and ahead of scheduleAll print rewards shipped in September. Additionally, project supporters already have access to their PDFs through their BackerKit surveys. We're wrapping up the Warehouse 23 PDF delivery of rewards. This project is unlikely to appear in the November report. As last month, the next big task on our crowdfunding list is to secure a larger mailing list. At the moment, our reach is limited by the size of our mailing list, and we must add more gamers to that list if we're to survive in this new and changing world. If you have not yet joined any of our mailing lists, please visit this page and sign on today!

We do not yet have exact launch dates for our upcoming projects, so please follow both Steve Jackson Games and Warehouse 23 on Kickstarter so that you don't miss anything.

October 15, 2022: Pre-Order These New Holiday Games Today!

[Image] [Image]

Those shipping headaches we mentioned (see this Daily Illuminator post) continue to disrupt our plans. Two of our upcoming games – The 12 Dice of Christmas and Bad Christmas – are stuck in the shipping process and we're counting the days until the container lands in the warehouse.

We've opened both games for pre-orders at Warehouse 23, even though we do not have exact release dates for either one. Our plan is to ship as soon as possible, which should be before December 15, but there is a chance that the shipping delays will force us to mail out pre-orders in January.  12 Dice of Christmas - The perfect stocking stuffer! 12 Christmas-y dice make for one fast, fun game! You're picking dice to get the right numbers to buy the presents you need for Christmas . . . and keep your friends from getting what THEY want. Easy to learn and quick to play, this will be a holiday favorite for everyone! Also includes a seasonal dice bag and a score pad. Add a pen or pencil and you'll have instant mobile merrymaking! Ho ho ho! Bad Christmas - The Family Game of Awful Presents. There are some strange things in the gift exchange this year. A tuna-flavored candy cane? A wind-up fruitcake? An inflatable birdhouse? They may be horrible . . . but some of them are just what YOU want! Pick your favorites and try to get them as fast as you can, because the game might end at any time . . . What do you want for Christmas?– Phil Reed

October 14, 2022: Things Are Getting Spooky With Chupacabra

Chupacabra There's been a cryptid sighting! The elusive goat-sucker from the south is back after a long hiatus. We thought we were safe, but no one is truly safe from . . . the Chupacabra ! One of our most requested games, Chupacabra is available again directly from our webstore, Warehouse 23. This direct edition does not include a dice cup or box (it comes in a polybag with rules), but it features the same classic glow-in-the-dark dice that have become iconic. If you missed out on the original release, Chupacabra is a fast-playing dice game where players roll those awesome dice and use their chupacabra results to attack their opponents' herds of chicken, goats, and cows – and vice versa! If you've played games like Zombie Dice or Z-Shot , you'll see that  Chupacabra fits right into that family of fast and easy-to-learn games.

This is not a full reprint, so once Chupacabra has snatched its quota of goats ,  it's gone for at least the immediate future. Make sure to grab a copy now! If you want a neat way to store the game, may I suggest one of our dice bags?

And make sure to take advantage of our Halloween Sale, where we're discounting some of our spookiest titles – plus you'll get freebies with (most) physical orders!

October 13, 2022: GURPS Conan Available In Print!

[Image] You're familiar with the GURPS On Demand series, yes? This is our print-on-demand program where we've released over 100 different GURPS books as print-on-demand titles, making it easier than ever to fill those pesky holes in your roleplaying-game library. Best of all, we have a few licensed works where the rights-holder granted us permission to keep the books available (for now, certainly not forever) as print-on-demand books. One such licensed series, originally released by us way back in the 80s, is the five-book  GURPS Conan series . . . and all five of them are available right now as print-on-demand titles!

The five books in the series are: GURPS Conan GURPS Conan Beyond Thunder River GURPS Conan Queen of the Black Coast GURPS Conan Moon of Blood GURPS Conan the Wyrmslayer All are available right now, but we're sure they won't be offered in print-on-demand (and PDF) forever. Licenses and agreements change over time, so at the moment we're merely happy that we were given the chance to bring these long out-of-print books back to the world in a physical form.

October 12, 2022: Shipping Headaches? They're Still Here.

For those who think the world has returned to normal, the truth is that the state of many things on the planet is still terrible. As an example, the container we mentioned recently (see this Daily Illuminator post) is suffering from shipping troubles . . . and we may miss our window of time to ship new games to stores before the holidays. The ship reached the port without trouble, hitting the expected late September arrival, but then we found that the next available berthing appointment is not until the second half of October. We're losing roughly three weeks to this delay, and those are three weeks that we couldn't afford.

The world is not "back to normal," and game publishers are still forced to juggle the impact of shipping costs and delays as we try to create new games and deliver them to stores worldwide. If you're waiting for a new game and wondering why it missed the original street date, global shipping complications certainly played a part in the delay.

(A slight bit of good news is that shipping prices are slowly stabilizing. We're not back to normal, but we're also not facing the extreme highs of 2021.)

October 11, 2022: SJ Games On TikTok!

We've recently added a new social media outlet to our roster: TikTok! (It's not totally new, of course, but we haven't had the opportunity to really utilize it until now.) TikTok master, MIB, and now our own Irene will be posting short clips about board games, RPGs, miniatures, and even some live content, potentially including interviews with Steve! If you haven't used the platform much, this is where you'll look for shorter form content. We'll still be livestreaming over on Twitch and YouTube; this is just MORE COOL STUFF

So if you're inclined, give us a follow on Tik Tok and give Irene a warm welcome on the app with a nice comment!
