Out With The Old And In With The New

I always hate to replace equipment but in the case of one of my golf carts, I just had to bite the bullet and start shopping. The hunt for a new cart took a few days and a few hundred miles in the car. I could find plenty of beautiful, refurbished carts but new ones were scare as hens’ teeth. Ended up  at  a Yamaha dealer in Thomasville to find what I wanted. You’ll need to look closely at the pictures below because the carts changed but the color didn’t. The new cart has seating for four, a must as it seems I’m always taking passengers around Lil Farm. The roof covers us all since the Florida sun has a habit of cooking any animal or plant exposed too long to its power.

What do you think? Is the new one cute or what? Named it Belle. My white one, the old lady of the two is Little Belle.

Mini Drought

For the past four weeks, Lil Farm has been surviving a mini drought.  Since I had put in so many trees, many not in the irrigation areas, buckets of water and I became very well acquainted. Last night I heard the wonderful sound of rain on the roof. Of course, this morning I will be mowing in the hot sun but I am so glad for the rain I don’t mind at all. I was considering rain dancing lessons yesterday. So glad I don’t have to try that now!

Dodging Tornados

I love North Florida but once in a while it can get really interesting on Lil Farm.  The weather has been wacky for a while all over the country. We are no exception. Storms have brought more high winds than rains and tornados. On my recent mini-cation, I got a call from the person who takes care of my animals when I’m gone. Trees were down and there was a tornado near my house. No damage to animals, house or out buidlings except the brand new p0tting area I had just completed two days before I left. Apparently the wind popped the convas top off the supports and just set it right back down. All I have to do is reset the upright supports. Farm work is never done if Mother Nature has anything to say about it.

Neighbors are Closer than Ever

Have some more neighbors right across the street. They are my favorite kind, quiet and very good at keeping their grassed mowed.

Mini Vacation

Spring in North Florida means gorgeous weather, blooming flowers, sunny skies and grass growing. Grass in my world is the super duper kind that gains inches in minutes which means that I am going to be living, when I am not writing, on my tractor for the next few months. With that in mind, a short vacation was in order before the mad race begins.  South Florida was the destination with its beaches and sun.  Took a side trip to Lion Country Safari and I have the animals pics to prove it. Here are a few. Check out the album secion for more.

If you are a regular visitor, you may notice a new entry on the menu.  Care Giving: Real Life Answers is now available on Amazon.  With the interest from the few appearances I have had time to do, I have decided to include a  Tip of the Week section here.  I invite your questions and opinions on this new addition. As always your feedback is important to me and I answer your comments personally.  So let me know what you think.

Flowers Popping up All Over

Lil Farm is glowing with color and  life.  The burros are loving the green grass and warmer temperatures.  The flowers are swaying in the breeze and the sun is shining. Sitting in front of the computer to write is really hard when I can look out the windows and see the farm awakening from winter.

This rose is a cutting from a bush that was planted in 1920. I make clippings to take to every new home.

Spring is Finally on the Way

Warming up and loving it. The grass is finally showing signs of green. The trees are showing tiny green buds and a few flowers here and there. The house for the kestrals is up and so is the blue bird house. The birds are globbling up the bird seed as though they have never seen food. Right now  I am planting trees, bulbs and flowers around the new waterfall and the yard.  So far, everything is thriving.

Friends of Music Concert

Four ladies, supper before a concert, add chopsticks and sushi and it is almost a given all of us were going to laugh until our sides ached. We did. Got to the church early enough to get our favorite seats if not our favorite parking space. Met more friends and the evening took off.

Great music with the Friends of Music of Live Oak. Only one more performance left, April 14th. Concert is free. This performance to a packed audience was the Suchon Woodwind Quintet with Michiko Otaki, Pianist. The music was so lovely that the two hours flew. The reception was our chocolate dessert. Can’t wait for the next time, ladies.
