Monday Happens Every Week

Monday is reserved on the farm for sweat inducing work. Mowing, fertilizing, the last before winter, is the order of the day. However, writing is first which is why I am in front of the computer starting at 5:15am this morning. Visitors also on the agenda, one to pick up a copy of Care Giving: Real Life Answers to take to a book club for possible review and the other a writer friend. Also, need to pick up more bookmarks for the care giving book. I am OUT! OH, Monday, Monday!

Finally, A Hint of Cool Air

I can’t say autumn is in the air but at least when I opened the door this morning, the heat didn’t slap me in the face. Happy, happy day. Working on Taking a Chance today. The male lead has already been very stubborn. He just wouldn’t give me his name. Finally, I have it.

Archer Channing. What’s more I got his friend and business partner’s name too, Alexander West. On top of those two revelations, I discovered that this is the first book of a pair. Looks like Randi’s friend Lucy is going to be finding a man too. Can’t wait!

First Fifteen Minutes

The first fifteen minutes of the audio book are complete and approved. The narrator did a fantastic job on the presentation. I could not have found a better person to give voice to my book as she and her husband have her father living with them. She knows firsthand about the demands and the joys of Care Giving. With support like this, the project has the best possible beginning. Thanks Annette!

My New Hobby—Maybe

I have a friend who is an artist and she has taken hold of the idea that I should paint. Having had one painting class in college and discovered that while I could, given enough time, manage to put something on paper that could be recognized, I was not a painter. However, nagging, even nicely done, pushed me in front of a small canvas one Sunday morning. I think giving birth was probably easier. Then my daughter came up with a social group that paints for fun and talked me into an evening spent with brushes and paints while I was visiting a few days ago. Had fun painting with her, her husband and my artist friend. The picture below is the result of that evening. All four canvases are shown but none of us stood behind our efforts. I’ll leave you to try to figure out which one is mine.

Sun, Sand, Beaches and Great Food

Time for another mini-cation. This one is to my old stomping grounds in Palm Beach County. If you have never been there it is a feast for the eyes, the senses and the taste buds. From home it is a short five hour drive to this mecca of fun. Everywhere you look there is something to please the eye from this early morning, slightly foggy inlet view including the Jupiter lighthouse to the Duck Diva tour starting in the heart of City Place.  There was Italian food that could have come out of your grandmother’s kitchen to Chinese food that tempted the eyes as well as the taste buds. Then there was the chocolate store. A girl can’t get enough of that especially when it is hand done and delicious. Add in a breakfast buffet at the Sailfish Marina then a water taxi tour of Lake Worth and it doesn’t get any better. Had a GREAT TIME! Can’t wait for the next trip.

Audio Book Cover

While the narrator/producer is working on the first fifteen minutes of Care Giving: Real Life Answers, I am working on the cover for the audio version. I am very excited about the whole process and ACX has been invaluable in helping me follow the steps to get this work into the audio format. My narrator, Annette, is so perfect for what I wanted the voice of Care Giving to be that I couldn’t be more pleased.

A Lot of Rain

Lil Farm is mostly high and dry but the recent daily rains plus the deluge two days ago have really created a difference in the landscape. The first picture is an area that may have an underground spring since it stays moist most of the time but when it rains it turns into a little lake. The second picture is the natural pond I had dug that was being a bit stubborn about holding water. I think Mother Nature changed her mind because this rain is filling the pond and holding. We will see for how long.

Rain, Rain

Paradise is being drenched every day right now. Since we had been having a drought, the trees and grass are really making up for lost growing time. However, pictures, unless I want to dodge lightning, aren’t possible. The good news is the dry pond is filling rapidly. Now if it just retains the water I will have a real pond. The paddle boat is waiting and my fingers are crossed!

Mowing Day Deere Races

Rain and Grass make summer interesting. Had Deere races today. In the post position was Little Bit. Led the way right out of the gate. Then came Baby, coming on strong. Junior was the last out of the gate but made a strong close and won by a wheel over Little Bit with Baby bringing up the rear. She had a handicap. I had to get off to get the camera.

Darn it! Wouldn’t you know the battery had died. Oh well. Tomorrow I will snap a few shots. Maybe I’ll win this time.

Rainy Mondays Mean Catch Up

So many irons are in my little fires that I welcome rainy days. It is  good time to catch up with all those things that slip through the cracks. This day is no exception. I have a list even as I sit at the computer to post. So far I have ticked off a few items. I wonder if there will enough hours in this day to get the rest. Probably not. Oh well! Tomorrow is mowing day, that should have been today, but if it rains, who knows? I might just finish the list after all.
