We’ll be talking time loops, duets, and my decision to force actor Anthony Lemke to become fluent in French as we discuss Dark Matter Episode 304, All the Time in the World. And joining us for this special discussion will be none other than the now fluent in French actor Anthony Lemke. Don’t miss it (or you’ll just have to watch it later on youtube)!
Today’s Yes/No…

Japan has $10 bananas from the coldest prefecture in the country, but how do they taste? https://t.co/cuU6mCB5de via @RocketNews24En

Better than a $500 melon I suppose.
It was my uncle Vic’s birthday this past weekend. Last time we visited. he offered us Guttenbaggen – which turned out to be his way of pronouncing Haagen-Dazs. I will never forget his wise words to his son, my cousin Paul, those man-years ago: “Paul, if I end up in the hospital and become a vegetarian, pull the plug.” I can truly relate.
Also on the birthday docket this week is this girl –
who celebrates the big 1 6 on Wednesday. A milestone! On this week’s To Do list: send notes on notes on the second draft of the Project F pilot, reimagine our pitch of that classic SF series, pitch Powder Mage to a prospective partner, discuss the pilot to that time loop series, provide notes on the pitch deck of that sci-fi comic book, zoom chat discussion regarding my potential involvement in that cool arcana series.
How are your respective weeks looking?

May 1, 2021: Nonsense and such!
Check out this beautiful DM Silhouette poster compliments of Nicolas Bannister, created for super fan Chris Kwak. If I were ever to do a Dark Matter comic book, he’s the only artist I would do it with.
Man, social media grows increasingly tiresome. I’d drop facebook if not for the fact that doing so would prevent me from updating Suji’s page. Otherwise, my facebook timeline is as devoid of updates as my linkedin. I’d add instagram as well but the only thing keeping it going are the photos and videos Akemi sends to my account that I can add to my Story with the simple click of a button. Anything beyond that simple button click and my account would be fairly devoid of content. Twitter, on the other hand, is the one platform on which I remain pretty active – but spend much of my time there muting or blocking annoying accounts. It’s almost breathtaking the degree to which individuals on both sides of the political spectrum seek out offense. To wit, here are to examples. First up, there’s Dandelion Gate…

Next up, there’s…well, this…
‘Jeopardy!’ winner slammed for allegedly holding up a white power hand gesture after a group of former contestants on the show sent an open letter accusing the producers of missing it. #THRNews pic.twitter.com/k6OL9zYCun
— The Hollywood Reporter (@THR) April 29, 2021
I mean, holy shit. The fact that this group was incapable or, frankly, unwilling contextualize this poor guy’s actions is utterly mind-blowing. Also, I’m willing to bet that most of these former contestants didn’t place in the money.

April 30, 2021: Our most Japanese day yet!
Thanks to everyone who offered up instances of their experience with rude and/or embarrassing behavior at meetings. This could all be fodder for a new series. Keep ’em coming!
Today was our most Japanese day in recent memory. After lunch, Akemi and I took a walk to our local Japanese convenience store and picked up (No, not that ninja plate I’ve been eyeing for months) but rice crackers, noodles, and assorted pocky sticks. Before that, however, we strolled through Trinity Bellwood Park so that Akemi could take in the cherry blossoms. Natsukashii!
Then we had a very special Kyoto-style dinner courtesy of Chef Jon Klip.
Oishikatta!
Tonight, we’ll have some tea and turn in only, but only after our evening shower – as is the Japanese way.
Tomorrow, it’s back to Western tradition: fried chicken, Farm Boy, and maybe an afternoon nap.

April 29, 2021: NFT’s, Camemburgers, and rude behavior!
A friend of mine is wading into the speculative NFT market. Now for those of you who don’t know what an NFT is – “A non-fungible token (NFT) is a unit of data stored on a digital ledger, called a blockchain, that certifies a digital asset to be unique and therefore not interchangeable. NFTs can be used to represent items such as photos, videos, audio, and other types of digital files” says wikipedia. To those still scratching their heads – welcome to the club. My friend purchased an NFT which, he informed me, is an exclusive sports-related clip. This led to the following exchange (click the image for full-size view):
I mean, I would but it hurts my brain.
I told him I was going to get an NFT of Charles Barkley getting off the team bus. How much do you think that would be worth in three years?
Anyway, here’s my friend trying to explain NFT’s to me…
Food, on the other hand, is something I DO understand. Yes/No?
Marugoto Camembert Burger? Yes/No

I dub thee The Camemburger!
Had another Powder Mage pitch today. I want to say it went well but, truly, there’s no way to know. I mean, everyone was polite and asked thoughtful questions. Nobody stifled a giant yawn like that time I pitched MGM, or hung up partway through the discussion like the creator-director of that financially-challenged “trailblazing” green-screen production (Inn all fairness, in the latter case I WAS pointing out the logic inconsistencies in the pilot he must have spent at least most of an afternoon writing, so I suppose it was understandable). Anyway, hopefully time (and the execs we are pitching) will tell.
Question for the room: What was the rudest behavior you have been witness to in a zoom, phone or in-person meeting?

April 27, 2021: I’ll sleep like a baby!
Dinner for me is usually steel cut Irish oatmeal with some protein powder, almond butter, oat milk, and frozen blueberries but, tonight, I decided to go off-book with The Vatican, Burger Priest’s double cheeseburger served between two grilled cheese sandwiches, with grilled onions and jalapeño bottle caps. Tonight, I bet I will sleep like a baby. And by that I mean I’l be up every hour or so, possibly crying.
Hey, if you didn’t tune into yesterday’s Dark Matter Monday stream, you missed a great chat with actress Ayisha Issa (DM’s Solara Shockley). Luckily, PJ pressed record…

Intriguing, no?
In case you missed my last chat with David Read for his Dial the Gate series – check out our last installment in which we discuss SG-1’s ninth season:
And – hey! – I didn’t realize that the lovely and talented Carl Binder was sitting down with David as well. Great interview…
Well, this is concerning….
https://www.zerohedge.com/geopolitical/rising-threat-nuclear-war-most-urgent-matter-world
“People like to think every nuclear-armed country has one “The Button” with which they can consciously choose to start a nuclear war after careful deliberation, but it doesn’t work that way. There are thousands of people in the world controlling different parts of different nuclear arsenals who could independently initiate a nuclear war. Thousands of “The Buttons”. It only takes one. The arrogance of believing anyone can control such a conflict safely, for years, is astounding.”
Finally – did you watch the Oscars last night? Neither did I or, apparently, most anyone else.

April 24, 2021: Pug art and Stargate. What more do you want?
Akemi’s artwork featuring many of the pugs she follows on instagram. Trying to convince to do a book.
Okay. I’ve limited myself to two desserts a day (not including chocolate which, of course, can be enjoyed freely throughout) and I already feel more energetic. I don’t believe I’ve lost any weight yet, but I only started this morning. Will let you all know how it goes.
Later today, Stargate fans! I join David Read to discuss SG-1’s 9th season…
Alrighty. I’ve finished showing you all of the concept art from SG-1’s first season. Now, we move on to season 2. Can you identify the episodes?
