Nancy Fraser Visits Today!

Hello Nancy!  Thank you so much for visiting Written Butterfly with me today!  It’s such a pleasure to chat with you.  So tell me…
Q) How did you dream up the dynamics of your characters?
Part of the credit would have to go to the publisher’s submission call. They wanted a man in a kilt! Easy enough. Since the line is erotic romance, I quickly decided on a contemporary setting rather than historical. A wanted a hero who didn’t wear a kilt in his day-to-day life, but felt strongly enough about his heritage to don the kilt for a special occasion. As for my heroine, I knew she needed to be more closely tied to tradition, home and family. Yet, in her own way, a modern woman. Out of that came the story … a dutiful daughter who participates in Highland games, a man who couldn’t wait to conclude his small town visit and get back to his big-city life.
Q) Is this book part of a series?  If so, can you tell us about it?
I’d never intended it to be … other than being part of The Wild Rose Press’ Real Men Wear Kilts series. However, there are a couple of supporting characters begging for their own stories. No doubt we’ll find another sexy, kilt-wearing hero in the near future.
Q) Do you have any habits that get you in the writing frame of mind?
Music and coffee. I choose the music based on the type of book I’m writing. For Kilty Pleasures, it was fiddle and bagpipes. And coffee. I even choose a bag pipe piece, Falkirk Wheel, for my trailer. For my October release, an Egyptian-themed time travel, Eye of the Pharaoh, I listened to the score from the 1999 remake of The Mummy.
Q) Do you plan all your characters out before you start a story or do they develop as you write?
Yes. Knowing my characters inside and out makes it easier to get into their heads when I’m creating dialogue. Supporting characters will sometimes sneak up on me, but my main characters are drilled into my head before I start.
Q) What are your upcoming projects?
I’m currently working on two projects. The first is a novella for The Wild Rose Press’ new “stranded” series, based on the concept of stranding the main characters until they realize they’re meant for each other. My story, Waking Up in Oz, is loosely based on the Oz legend and set in Oswald, KS, a small town in the midst of series of deadly tornados. The story is set in 1975 and considered a vintage historical.
The second project is a stretch for me … a futurist/alien romance. Contracted to Decadent Publishing, I’m waiting for my first round of edits and expect a summer release.

BLURBWhen Ronan MacAlister returns to Glencoe, Maine to see to the affairs of his late uncle, he's immediately reminded of why he's stayed away. The small town is definitely not his cup of tea, and he can't wait to settle the estate and be done with the cold winters. The only bright spot is the feisty farm manager, Aileen. All grown up now and far from the shy and reserved girl from his childhood, she exudes a steamy sexuality that has Ronan and his unruly body on full alert.
Aileen MacDougall had a huge crush on Ronan when she was a teenager, content to adore him from afar whenever his family came to Glencoe for a visit. Now he's back, and although the circumstances are less than ideal, she's eager to find out if her fantasies can live up to reality. But he holds the key to the future of Glencoe in his hands as well as her own hopes and dreams.
Can being trapped together in a remote cabin during a freak snowstorm melt his heart? Or will they discover they have differences even kilty pleasures can't overcome?
Sneak Peeks:
Excerpt #1:
Angus gave another nod toward the table laden with food. “Why don’t I have her make you a plate? You can grab a spot close to the door and still greet your guests.”
“Thank you. I’d appreciate it.”
While he waited for his food, Ronan studied the townsfolk milling around the brightly lit, albeit stuffy, hall. They came from all walks of life. Farmers, store owners, and bankers. The one and only barber...who happened to be the town’s mayor as well. A cross section of exactly what made this place click and the main reason he could never coax his uncle into leaving.
Time and again his gaze returned to the beautiful woman near the far window. She fanned herself with a slim, delicate hand and he wondered how it would feel to have those same fingers caressing his skin. She was a goddess among a room full of middle-aged farm wives and gray-haired spinsters.
When she opened the shutters to let in some air the evening breeze blew her long, reddish blonde hair from behind her ear. The disheveled strands brushed her creamy cheeks and fell like a curtain over her slim shoulders. She tossed her head from side to side, jostling the silken threads until they came to rest across a pair of voluptuous breasts.
He gave his perusal free rein. Her trim waist flared into nicely curved hips. Perfect to hold onto during a long night of hot, satisfying sex. The thought made his palms itch.
~~~Excerpt #2:
Ronan retrieved the bottle of cabernet from his uncle’s stash and pulled the cork. Aileen was giving him some enticing signals...at least it seemed like it. Given his body’s immediate reaction, he hoped he wasn’t reading her wrong.
He busied himself with building a fire from the logs and kindling in the basket beside the hearth. Once he’d finished, he crossed the great room and drew the curtains closed.
Setting a romantic mood, are you? Ronan gave his pesky conscience a nudge and turned the lock on the cabin door.
The soft ‘ding’ of the microwave proceeded the heavenly aroma of pungent spices. Aileen reached for dishes on the shelf above her head, the stretch of her arms outlining her curvy figure, lifting her lush bottom. His stomach growled with an appreciation that had little to do with food.
“So,” he asked, “what’s for lunch?”
“Beef stew, salad, and homemade biscuits with butter and honey. I put the kettle on for tea and there are sodas and bottled water in the fridge.”
“I’ve decanted the wine. It should go nice with the stew.”
She graced him with another of her smiles. “We can eat here at the table or over by the fire whichever you prefer.”
He nodded toward the low table and pillows in front of the fireplace. “Why don’t you take the food over? I’ll pour us some wine and be right behind you.”
They enjoyed their meal in a companionable silence. Like Aileen, the stew was complex with many layers of flavor. The simple salad was all business and the biscuits and honey a sweet ending. The meal, like the woman who’d made it, stirred his senses and begged to be tasted over and over again.
He set his dishes aside and pushed the table a few feet to the left. Relaxing back against the pillows, he pressed the wine glass to his lips and turned his attention to the sexy beauty sitting across from him.
The glow from the fireplace played off Aileen’s silken hair, turning the reddish blonde highlights to pure gold. He wanted nothing more than to wrap the gossamer strands around their naked bodies.
She took a sip of her wine and closed her eyes. When she darted her tongue out to catch an errant droplet on her lip he nearly lost the last increment of his composure. Not having her...all of her...was no longer an option.
~~~ Excerpt #3:
Ronan pushed the last letter into place atop the triple word square. “Reticent. Tacking on to your word and utilizing the ‘e’, that’ll be another eighty-six points for me.”
“Nice play. Too bad you’re still forty points behind.”
He shot her a glare, followed by what he hoped was his most lascivious grin. “You know what would make this more interesting?”
“Let me guess, Strip Scrabble.”
“I was going to say Nude Scrabble, but I’m willing to work for it.”
“I bet you are. Why don’t we put the game away and go to bed? It is after midnight.”
He gathered his remaining game pieces and dumped them into the storage pouch. “I’ll go light a few candles, maybe take a quick shower.”
She nodded and then stood, gathering up the game board and box in her hands. “When you come out of the shower you should put the kilt back on.”
“Hmm...kinky. I like it. What will you be wearing?”
“A smile.”

jompexcerpt I splashed water on my face, then looked up at myself, leaning against the sink. I had to get out of here. I was way too riled up. I was no good around horses right now. Never mind it being good around Pheonyx. I didn't trust myself not to toss her over my shoulder and carry her off with me.

I wanted to do things to her. Not gentle, sweet things like a beautiful, young girl deserved. Rough and filthy things.

 I splashed more water on my face. Then I tugged my jeans out and splashed water on my stomach and cock. I flinched at the cold but it didn't do a damn thing to make it lie down.

  "Bad dog." I muttered, shaking my head.

There was no use for it. I had a twenty four hour seven a day a week kind of boner. I had to git, while the gittin' was good. I left the bathroom, sneaking around the back way towards my car.

I left my favorite lawn chair where it was. I figured it would be here tomorrow. I couldn't take one more second of almost-naked Pheonyx, covered in slippery suds. I cursed as my hard on got even harder. I cursed again as a sexy redhead in next to nothing caught up to me.

I didn't slow down. I kept right on walking. That didn't stop her. Those impossibly long legs of hers kept up with me just fine. I tried not to notice that her barely covered chest was bouncing with each step. I wanted to grab her, kiss her hard and bury my face in between those luscious tits of hers. I would wrap her long, silky legs around me and-

"Where are you going?"

"PJ's. I need a drink."

I'd spoken without thinking. PJ's was in town and not more than a couple miles from my house. I could leave my car there and stumble home after a few drinks. More than a few drinks. I knew I was gonna have to tie one on to clear my head. A big, Pheunyx Delancey sized bottle for starters. It was a time honored way to avoid thinking about a woman. "Great, I need one too. I'll follow you." I stopped in my tracks.

"Do. Not. Follow. Me."

She smiled at me. "Are you okay?"

I grunted and practically ran for my car. She was still standing there when I peeled off. Her pretty head was tilted to one side, as if she was hatching something. I shuddered to think what that might be.
I was still hot and bothered, sitting at the bar an hour later when Pheonyx walked in. She'd put on some clothes thank the good lord. Too bad those clothes were a skin tight pair of jeans and a hot pink camisole that didn't cover much more than the bikini. She'd done something to her face too. I exhaled sharply when I realized she was wearing makeup. Just a little around the eyes and something pink and shiny on her lips. She'd curled her hair too. I knew it was for me. She was sending me a signal. An impossible to resist one. God help me, but I lit up at the sight of her. I'd thought she was pretty before. But right now, she shined.

The air in the room changed as she strode across the bar. Every man in the place sat up straight. I stared straight ahead, refusing to pant after her like the rest of the dogs. Goddammit. She'd followed me.

Shari Elder Stops by to Chat about Sci-Fi Romance....

Hello Shari!  Thank you so much for visiting Written Butterfly with me today!  It’s such a pleasure to chat with you.  So tell me…

Q) Is this book part of a series?  If so, can you tell us about it?
First, thanks so much for having me. I’m glad to be here. Race to Redemption is Book #1 of the science fiction romance series Green Rising. It is set in a world where corrupt corporations fund an equally corrupt intergalactic government. They all hoard resources, keeping the general populace poor and use 24/7 surveillance and a Cyborg Army to maintain control. Below the surface, a rebel coalition is emerging. I have seven romance novels planned, in which the opposition will take several steps forward, then get knocked back a few steps, until their alternative world finally takes hold. In this book, which gets it all started, our heroine, Elaina is very much part of the corporate world. Through her experience as a transport pilot for Erik, she discovers that there is another way to live.
Q) Can you give a fun or interesting fact about your book? And what gave you the inspiration for your book?
I am answering these together because a really fun fact is how this concept evolved. I wanted to write a story about heroes and heroines who had different careers. In the very first version, Elaina was a NASCAR driver, and Erik was a doctor on an outpost in North Africa, who ran a clinic as a cover story, but he was actually a special ops agent assigned to monitor bioterrorist activity.  As the idea developed, I found the issues so complicated, and the research so vague, that it morphed into a science fiction romance. In this way, I could play with the ideas with a greater degree of freedom.  Elaina became a storm racing pilot, and Erik a doctor-scientist monitoring biogenetic tampering.
Q) Do you have any habits that get you in the writing frame of mind?
I generally write at the same time every day, which is first thing in the morning and on the metro to work.  I think the persistence and regularity ‘trains’ the muse.  My life, like many of you, is hyper-busy, so by identifying a time and keeping it sacred to my writing, it keeps things moving along.
Q) What are your upcoming projects?
I just finished a draft of a paranormal novella entitled Unnatural Allies.  It picks up at the end of my previous Evernight Release, Shifter Trials. I am also about a quarter finished with the Scent of Memory, which is Green Rising Book #2. It will be a big win for the rebels.

Book info
Race to Redemption (Green Rising Book #1) is science fiction romance jam-packed with action, one panty-melting hero, sexy alien races, and a kickass heroine. In the story, a pilot and a doctor race across the desert to prevent a deadly plague while fighting the pull of their own hearts.

To get it back, she agrees to pose as Lainie Carter, medical transport pilot and corporate spy. A man desperate for redemption.Unable to forgive himself for a past tragedy, Erik works himself into an early grave. He has no patience for the insubordinate Lainie Carter, who can’t take an order, disrupts routine and flames his body to ash.
A planet at risk.When the outpost is attacked, they’re thrown together in a race across the desert to stop a deadly biogenetic weapon As a fragile trust blossoms between two damaged hearts, their pasts resurface and threaten their growing bond.

About Shari Elder
Hello, I'm Shari. By day, I crawl out of bed, mainline coffee, walk the dog, get my kid off to school, hop on the metro, and save cities within the four walls of my office. Usually by email.
At night, the other Shari emerges.  I take off the suit, curl up on the couch and let my imagination play, with words and images until stories take shape (while periodically checking on my teen-ager, hiding out in the bedroom and plotting world domination).  As my alter ego, I save cities in a cape and spangled tights, wander space and time on a surfboard, fly over the Himalayas on feathered wings, make six-toed footprints in indigo talc snow on the sixth planet in the Andromeda galaxy or eavesdrop on Olympian gods while pretending to whip up a bowl of ambrosia.
In all these wondrous worlds, romance and passion blossom. I can't resist a happy ending. And I am particularly prone to writing happy endings for those who have given up on ever getting one. That gives me immense satisfaction.
Join me on my journey. The best ideas emerge from team work.

Constance Bretes Visits with a Rafflecoptor Prize!

Hello Constance!  Thank you so much for visiting Written Butterfly with me today!  It’s such a pleasure to chat with you.
Thank you for having me today. I really appreciate it!

Q) How did you dream up the dynamics of your characters?
Mostly, I dream of my characters. I’ve spent many years single, and imagining the kind of man I’d like in my life, and the situations we’ve encountered. This is especially so with my first release, Delayed Justice, and my fourth release, Book of Love, which is being featured today.

Q) Is this book part of a series?
No, this one is not a part of a series.
Q) Can you give a fun or interesting fact about your book?
In the story, Book of Love, Janice, the heroine, came to Colstrip, Montana with a car that Chris, the hero, coined as the car from hell. Every week she’d bring the car in for him to work on because something went wrong. She has no money for car repairs, so he is trying to help her out, but she gets angrier at him each time she goes to the shop for more repairs. Below is a little snippet of an encounter between them and her car horn.
She walked to the door, then turned around and asked him, “What happened to the horn?” He looked at her blankly with his eyebrows raised. “What about your horn?” Even as words left his mouth, he knew it was a mistake to ask. “It was working fine when I got to Colstrip, but now it doesn’t work!” Aaron came to see what the commotion was about. “Probably the damn thing rusted off and is laying alongside the road,” Chris muttered under his breath. “What did you say?” She looked back at him with a flash of anger in her eyes. “Nothing.” He really didn’t know what the hell happened to the horn. She regarded him coolly. “You probably took it off and never put it back on.” “Now why would I do something like that?” he asked her irritably. He was starting to really get angry with her, but he held himself in check. “I don’t know, maybe you have a horn fetish or something.” Aaron left the room and went into the office. “I don’t know what happened to your horn, but if you want me to put one on I will.” “No, that’s okay. I don’t need it.” She turned and walked out the door. He looked after her, exasperated. First she yells at me about her horn, then when I said I’d fix it, she says no. Women. He shook his head as he walked back to his office for a second to cool off. He walked in on his son who was in the middle of fits of laughter. Chris wasn’t amused. “Did you do something to her horn, Dad?” “I don’t know what the hell happened to her damn horn,” he replied flatly.

Q) Do you have any habits that get you in the writing frame of mind?
I retired from a day job last year, and I’ve discovered that I don’t need as much sleep. So I get up between 3 and 5 AM, get my coffee, go through my emails, and then I sit and write until hubs get up. It works well for me, and I enjoy the quiet during that time.

Q) How much real life do you put into or influences your books?
All of my books have something in them that has happened to me in my real life. Mostly humorous things and events. I like my books to show realistic, every day people and the things that happen to them.
I’ve been a strong supporter of Domestic Abuse ( http://www.thehotline.org/) and in Book of Love, my heroine came from an abusive relationship and I’ve another book that has been contracted, but not yet ready for publication, called Blue As Sapphires, where the heroine came from an abusive relationship. It’s hard to write about this subject, but I feel it’s so important to ‘show’ it in some form, address it, and provide a happy ever after, to hopefully make it as real as possible, and show women of domestic abuse that there is hope and they can get out of their environment.
Q) What are your upcoming projects?
I have three books I’m getting ready to send off to the publisher. They are:  Jade’s Redemption, Elkhorn In The Moonlight, and Love, A Second Time Around. All three are at beta readers now, and I hope to get them ready to send in this month. I also participated in the NaNoWriMo, (National November Write Month) and now I’m tweaking the first draft about a burn victim recovering and discovering herself, and her relationship with her husband, whom she’d been separated from for two years. The story is a little hard to write, because her personal psyche is almost biographical of some things that I went through before I met my husband.  Gordon Lightfoot wrote a song called “Poor Little Allison” that resonates with me because it was the way I used to be and feel, and I wrote the manuscript based on the lyrics and concept of that song. The book is called The Burn Factor.

The Final Wip It Wednesday Asks....Naughty or nice?

Who's being naughty and who's being nice, and who's gonna get spanked within an inch of her life? Inquiring minds have to know…
Years ago I wrote a screenplay, about a woman who returns home after a disastrous marriage. Not the most original idea, I know, but it was a “what if” story for me.  What if I returned to the small Missouri town I grew up in and my high school best friend and I reconnected?  I’d always had a crush on him so of course it was something I’d thought of.  Needless to say, the screenplay wasn’t very good, but years later, I reworked the manuscript into book form.
In it, the heroine Alannah returns to her home town, and not only does she reconnect with her old friend, she is drawn into his world of spankings and kink.  Kink had always been something taboo, not on her radar, but she discovers it’s a perfect way to turn out her thoughts and simply enjoy sex.  All the negativity of her failures streaming through her head gets turned off when he ties her up and blind folds her.  She is able to focus on his tone and not the doubts that cloud her mind.
Now, this book could’ve easily just turned into a smut book without any substance, but I wanted this book to be about freedom and not just sex for sex’s sake.  Alannah has a lot to work through in her head, but in the end I think I did her justice in finding her happy ever after.  Here’s a tantalizing excerpt to show a bit of her naughty side….
                                                                *****“I want to blindfold you,” he repeated.              “Why?  Did you read that book?  Because not every woman is into BDSM.”            He gave her the enigmatic little smile that she was rapidly coming to love.  “Your mind wanders too much from one thing to another and if you think too hard that hinders you reaching sexual fulfillment.  If you think you have to make a certain face or do a certain thing during sex, then your mind locks you up.  The reason why you came so hard last night was because it was so dark you couldn’t see me and you knew I couldn’t see you.  This blindfold will take away that thinking.  All you have to do is feel.”            For some strange reason that made sense because the only time she could get intimate with Bryce was if all the lights were out.  Slowly she nodded and turned around.  Sky placed the material over her eyes and tied it tight.  She couldn’t see a thing.            And then his hands were on her blouse, working the buttons free.  Was he going to turn off the light?  He could still see her and, god, she hadn’t lost those last ten pounds.  In high school she used to be a skinny little thing.  Not so much now.  When the material fell of her shoulders she tensed.              “Are you going to turn off the lights?” she asked.            “Hush,” he ordered.            She felt him walk around her and unhook her bra clasp and ease the scrap of lace away.  With a sense of modesty, because she could feel his eyes on her, she brought her arms up and crossed over her chest.            “No,” he said, and peeled her arms off her breasts, placing them at her sides.  “You’re beautiful.”            “I’m no longer that skinny girl,” she mumbled, feeling heat scorch her face.            “Good.  I’ve already told you I don’t want a girl in my bed.  You, Alannah, are one sexy woman.”            Oh, good line.  She had to give him points for that.  Along with his law degree he must have picked up an award in smooth talking.  His hands moved to her slacks, unzipping them and pushing them down her legs.  He helped her take them off by lifting one foot and then the other.  The only thing left were her panties, a mere bit of silk that didn’t cover much.  Those he left on.            “Now, I’m going to tie your hands together.”            She jerked back.  “What?  Why?”            “Because this is all about making you feel and another way to take away your thoughts is to restrict your movement.  Without your hands you have to rely on me, and I want you to give me your control.  Just free your mind to feel, Alannah.”            “Um.  Wait.  Are you into BDSM?”            “No, Alannah,” he answered, sounding amused.  “I only practice bondage.”            Her mouth dropped open.  Holy crap!  What’d she get herself into?              “Why?”            “Some people need freedom that only corporal passivity can provide,” he told her and there was that tone again, that commanding voice that turned her on big time.  “By giving over your control to me, it allows you to concentrate on your inner spirituality and to feel peace.  Trust me, Alannah.  I know how to take care of you, baby.”                                                *****Thanks for reading!PAPER KISSES BLURB When Alannah’s husband tells her she’s boring and he doesn’t want to be married to her anymore she spirals into a world of hurt and confusion. She decides to go back to her hometown in Missouri to figure out where she lost the confident girl she used to be.

Speeding into town, she’s pulled over by her old best friend, Skylar Randall, now the town sheriff. He’s still mad at her for leaving twelve years ago without a word of good-bye. But suddenly Sky isn’t just her high school friend anymore, he’s morphed into a man who goes after what he wants, and he’s just declared he wants her.

But Sky’s private world is one full of bondage and in trying to silence the doubts in her head, he will tie her up as long as it takes for her realize that what she really left behind was faith, hope and whole lot of kisses.

A Down Under Chat with Faye Hall!

Hello Faye!  Thank you so much for visiting Written Butterfly with me today!  It’s such a pleasure to chat with you.  So tell me…

Q) How did you dream up the dynamics of your characters?  I love writing about brooding men, those who struggle to express their feelings for fear of getting hurt.  Jarrah, the leading male character in Deceit & Devotion, is a perfect example of the wounded male who struggles to appear strong and independent, whilst inside he’s hungering for the love and affections of a woman.
As for Emily, the female main character, she is struggling to survive in a very male dominated world.  I didn’t have to dream too hard to imagine what such a life must have been like, as it was the world so many women lived in during the 19thcentury.

Q) What gave you the inspiration for your book?  My main inspiration for Deceit & Devotioncame from my husband.  He mentioned that even though there are always tidbits of Aboriginal culture in each of my books, there had never been a main character that was native to Australia.  He suggested that I write a story about the interracial relationships that were once frowned upon in our country.  We were both aware of the scandal that would have happened back in the 19th century should any white settlers have developed a romantic relationship with an aboriginal.  The discussion carried on from there until I pretty much had the rough draft of the new manuscript written.

Q) Do you plan all your characters out before you start a story or do they develop as you write?  I usually do a rough plan which mainly includes physical features in a notebook that sits beside my computer.  The rest – attitude and reactions – usually just develops as the story does.

Q) What are your upcoming projects?  I have an upcoming release in May 2017, Amorous Redemption, which is roughly based on my great grandparents lives when they first moved to Australia.  Another project include a single title, Heart of Stone, a story involving a tangled love story between an Australian slave trader and an Irish slave.  I’m also several books into what will ultimately be a seven book series incorporating deadly sins and heavenly virtues.

Deceit and Devotion by Faye Hall
“I will pay you to sleep with my wife.”
Jarrah Miyan, a young half-caste aboriginal man, is supposed to seduce a white woman into an affair so her greed-driven husband can gain full control of her inheritance, including the rare collection of black opals she keeps under lock and key. When he walks into the study to meet the poor chit he’s to take advantage of, he expects to find an aging woman who smells of stale perfume and gin. Who he finds though is the most beautiful woman he’s ever laid eyes on—the same woman whose pale thighs had been wrapped around him just a few hours earlier as she’d begged him to give her pleasure.
After their night of passion together, Emily Holtz doubted she would ever see Jarrah again. To have him standing before her now, asking for employment at her cattle station, was not a situation she had prepared herself for. She agrees to hire him on one condition. He has to spy on her husband and get her the incriminating evidence she needs to apply for a divorce. She’s spent years in a miserable arranged marriage, and she’s desperate to escape. But her husband is a dangerous man, and he will stop at nothing, including murder, to get what he wants.
As they begin to develop feelings for each other, Jarrah worries about what will happen when Emily discovers that he’s been working for both her and her husband. Not that they could ever really be together, as society would never accept that.
Content Warning: contains sex, strong language, and some violenceGenre(s): Historical Romance / Interracial Romance

EXCERPT
Lifting the pillow to his nose, he breathed deep the sweet scent he knew to be Emily’s. His senses instantly responded, his groin aching for the mere touch of her skin against his again. “My husband and I don’t share a room, Jarrah,” she remarked from the doorway, forcing him to turn around suddenly. “You’ll find no trace of him in here. If you wish to search through his belongings, then you’ll have to go down the hallway.” “I have already inspected his room,” he replied, placing the pillow neatly back on her bed. “Then what are you doing in here?” He walked toward her, his steps measured. “I want to know who you are. I want to know why a woman as beautiful as you was burdened with a husband who doesn’t love her.” Stopping before her, he lifted his hand to her face, his fingers caressing the soft skin of her cheek. “And I want to know what sort of business requires your attention at such a late hour?” Emily took a step back from him. “You’ll find none of the answers you seek in this room, Jarrah.” “Then why don’t you tell me what I want to know, Emily?” Jarrah begged, aching to pull her back to him. “Please.” He watched the beauty of her face as she smiled slightly at him, and for a moment, he thought she might tell him at least some of her secrets. Slowly, she shook her head. “You don’t want to hear what I have to tell you,” she said firmly as she went to walk past him and into her room. His hand came out, gripping her elbow, stopping her. “I want to know where you were tonight,” he said again, more insistent this time. “Why?” she asked, her stare holding his. “Why would you care how or where I spend my nights?” He felt as if he were drowning in the greenness of her eyes, a feeling so very unfamiliar to him. How was he to explain to this woman that he did in fact care quite a lot about her whereabouts when he didn’t even understand it himself? “Because…” He paused, knowing what he was about to admit. Never before had he allowed himself such a familiar feeling toward any woman. He hadn’t intended to now either, but studying Emily’s slightly freckled, pale skin, her brilliant red hair highlighting her exquisite features, Jarrah knew he could no longer deny what he was feeling. Letting out a steadying sigh, he knew he had little choice but to tell her the truth. “I care because I don’t want you visiting other men and luring them into your bed.” She raised her brow, her expression unfaltering. “And is that where you think I’ve been the last couple of hours? Trying to lure men to come home with me?”

BIO
Faye Hall's passion driven, mystery filled books are set in small townships of North Queensland, Australia during the late 1800's.
Each of her novels bring something symbolically Australian to her readers, from Aboriginal herbal remedies, to certain gemstones naturally only found in this part of the world.

Each of her books tell of a passionate connection between the hero and heroine, surrounded and threatened by deceit, scandal, theft and sometimes even murder.

These romances swerve from the traditional romances as Faye aims to give her readers so much more intrigue, whilst also revealing the hidden histories of rural townships of North Queensland.

Faye finds her inspiration from the histories of not only the township she grew up in, but the many surrounding it. She also bases most of her characters on people she has met in her life.

Faye was able to live her own passion driven romance, marrying the love of her life after a whirlwind romance in 2013. Together they are raising their 9 children in a remote country town in northern Queensland, Australia.

Rose Lange stops by for a chat!

Hello Rose!  Thank you so much for stopping by Written Butterfly. So tell me...Can you give a fun or interesting fact about your book?             My heroine, Charlie, was named after Charlie Chaplin. She and her dad enjoyed watching Chaplin’s films together when she was growing up.             Old movie and actor references originate in nearly every story I’ve written thus far, from the 1920s through the 1960s. I grew up watching the classics, and it’s turned me into an old movie junkie. I’ve always been fascinated with the past, in terms of dress, language, acting, lifestyle, and just everything. I have old Hollywood crushes on Clark Gable, Jimmy Stewart, Gene Kelly, Robert Redford, Paul Newman, Cary Grant, Rock Hudson, and too many more to name. Heck, I have an entire board on Pinterest dedicated to these handsome gentlemen.              The first time I watched Gone with the Wind I was five, and I was hooked. My Aunt Mary played it for me on her VCR, and when I first saw Clark Gable, I wanted to marry him.  And to this day I can watch and re-watch the film and it still holds my interest. It’s a comfort and an escape.

What gave you the inspiration for your book?
            The inspiration for On a Gamble, came from one line, “You’re a woman,” and it’s a line I’ve had saved for years, twelve to be exact. I am a notorious saver, because I knew someday the story would find me. I built the entire premise around that line, and began brainstorming. I wondered why she’d have a unisex name, what it would mean for the story, our hero, how it would evolve and so on.
Do you have any habits that get you in the writing frame of mind?            I do have a set of rituals before I get to work. I turn my desk lamp on, light my candle. My new favorite scent is a Honey Blossom Yankee candle, before that I used a bamboo jasmine scented candle. I always make sure to have my cup of coffee, and a few chocolates next to me. These are musts, especially the coffee! I usually only drink one cup, but if I’m really have a good flow with my work, I’ll go for two cups.
Do you plan all your characters out before you start a story or do they develop as you write?             I love this question, and I would say it’s a bit of both. When I first think of an idea for a story, I write out character sketches and look on Pinterest to find the inspiration, what I envision for them, what they look like. Then I think of what they might do for a living, if they have siblings, family life, and beliefs. But one hundred percent of the time, the character’s traits, personalities, back-stories, everything, emerge organically as I write.             My characters truly do take over the story, and it’s out of my hands, and that’s what makes it so much fun. That excitement has me running back, and ready to work the next day. Because I never know what they’re going to do or say, or think or act, as there personalities lead the way. Most of the time I feel like a spectator.             It’s so wonderful to see though, because that gives me great satisfaction, to see them take this life force of their own. These people that exist only in my mind, to flesh them out, write their story, and watch it take shape. It feels like a miracle each and every time I sit at my computer. They become like flesh and blood people I can picture having a cup of coffee with.
What are your upcoming projects?            At present I’m working on a two book series, which is not yet under contract. The first one features Emma and Patrick, who shared a brief yet intense, weeklong fling on their trip abroad to Greece, and several years later find themselves working in the same office. This book is in the revision stage, but I’m nearing the finish line soon. The second book ties into the first, and features Sarah (her roommate), and Mike (his brother), which will be a Christmas romance. I do have a general idea of the story, and have ¾ of it written.             I have written stand alone books thus far, but the secondary characters in Emma and Patrick’s story were so strong in my mind, that I knew they needed their own romance. I had a light bulb moment when I discovered the Christmas romance I’d always wanted to write, was in fact, Sarah and Mike’s story.             After this series is complete, I’ve been toying with the idea of writing a cowboy romance, and after that the skies the limit!             Each time I finish a book, I fear the well of ideas will run dry, yet each time, I have always found my next story that’s waiting to be told.
Blurb:
She’s at the end of her rope . . .
Charlie Anderson needs a farm hand. The moment the sexy, mysterious stranger sets foot on her grandparents’ land, inquiring about a job opening, he rattles her senses, her cage, and her equilibrium, the likes of which she’s never experienced before. She never anticipated her scandalous thoughts getting in the way. She’s terrified, but desire trumps fear, and she gives in to a sinful temptation.
He has a hidden agenda . . .
Alex McCray has a plan. A plan having nothing to do with romance. His discovery, that “Charlie” is a voluptuous, beautiful woman, leaves him shaken, and he needs to proceed with extreme caution. Working next to her, everyday, stirs up a raw hunger he desperately tries to ignore. And he should, since he has an ulterior motive. Alex should also resist her intoxicating sensuality, but he can’t, because he cannot get enough.

Excerpt:
            Setting the napkin on her lap, she dove in, licking the tasty treat. Enjoying the sweetness on her tongue, she turned to spy Alex enjoying his as well. He turned toward her, grinning from ear to ear. “You’re right. This is the best custard I’ve ever had.”            Stifling a laugh, she noted a good size dollop on his chin. Without thinking, she leaned in, and swiped it away with her thumb, licking the excess off. “There. That’s better.”            Glancing up, she met his gaze, and swallowed the hard lump in her throat. He didn’t speak, just continued to study her. The act of licking stray vanilla off her finger seemed innocent enough, but the way he looked at her, did not look innocent in the least. A fire lit within the brown depths of his eyes, speeding up her heartbeat. She should look away, but couldn’t. Jesus, what was it about this man that could make her feel this way? So alive, so much unlike herself, and ready to give in and steal what they both so obviously wanted.

The Amazing Raven McAllan is visiting with me today!

Hello Raven!  Thank you so much for visiting Written Butterfly with me today to talk about your book, Fairground Attraction !  It’s such a pleasure to chat with you.  So tell me…

Q) How did you dream up the dynamics of your characters?After a chat with a friend one rainy day. We’d taken ourselves away for a no men weekend, and she was reading one of my books on my kindle and telling me to write as she read. (Slave driver) We started reminiscing about old films and men we enjoyed the look of. Tight butts, long hair, blue eyes etcetera.Over a glass (or two) of wine, we discussed what we wanted to read about in heroes and heroines, our likes and dislikes. Raig was born from that, and as my friend is ‘a tell it like it is’ gal, Vairi just had to be as is she is.When I got home, I knew what I wanted to write; I knew the beginning and the end—I just wasn’t sure how we were going to get there. Luckily my characters did.

Q) Can you give a fun or interesting fact about your book? When my heroine is watching TV, she’s looking at a re-run of a very old semi-erotic show. Nowadays it would be considered very tame, but back then, it was so risqué it wasn’t shown until after 11pm at night! The hero was played by David Duchovny, who was hot, hot, and er hot. It hadto be in.

Q) Do you plan all your characters out before you start a story or do they develop as you write? It honestly depends on them. Sometimes I have the whole book plotted out and it goes to plan. Other times I think I have and oops, those pesky characters will not do as I think and I just have to go with the flow. And also, I sometimes have nothing but a very faint idea of what may or may not happen and just go along for the ride. So far it’s all worked.

Q) How much real life do you put into or influences your books? I must admit that I love writing books with a setting I know. A lot are set in my favourite places in Britain and I have a couple set in Hong Kong.  (My very favourite city. Put me by the Star Ferry terminus with a book, a gluten free energy bar and a bottle of water and I can read, people watch and make notes for hours) Plus, I have used some other places I’ve visited around the world.I hate to read a book where the geography is wrong. I don’t mean a house or a made up village, I mean not so litle things like whether somewhere is north or south of somewhere else or a mountain is where it is described. Pulls me right out of the story.I was writing a sex scene one day and not sure if everythnig could phsically go where I wanted it to. As my DH was away I texted an author friend and asked whether what I described actually was possible. Half an hour later I got a reply—from her husband. Oh yes it is and thank you very much!

Q) What are your upcoming projects? I’m sort of thinking about a book set in WW1 and the twenties, inspired by one of my relatives. It’s a love story, but with a lot of twists and turns, so it will be a big project to do. Although it will have a lot of poetic license the basis of the story is fact. This relative grew up in London during the war, fell in love with the wrong guy and it took a long while for her to meet the right one. Absolutely fascinating, so if it gets written I must do it justice.Before then I have another Kera Faire (my dark side) started. It will be a Dark Isle story with a bit of a twist and this time not just set on the island. The heroine is undercover at a glass furnace.

She’d rather be at home with a book boyfriend and a cup of coffee.They both soon found out, there are good times and good times. How was Raig to know Vairi McQueen was such hot stuff?Their time together was explosive, but with both of them having secrets nigh on impossible to share, would they ever be able to get together and see where their attraction took them?Sometimes, Raig decided, you just had to take a chance on life—and love. Excerpt
(Raig and Vairi have just ridden the galloping horses at the fair. She insists on calling him Rake.)
“Jeez, Rake, drop the accent, why don’t you. You keep dipping in and out so much I’m giddy. It’s not real, it’s phony. You sound like a stereotypical B movie. Yes?”He shook his head as he looked at her and replied with not entirely faked sorrow. “That’s where you are wrong. I’ll admit I’ve been piling it on. Lorna said you were a romantic, inspired by sexy accents, and as I’ve been told over the years, the Irish accent is just that, sexy, so I thought, well, why not? To be honest and truthful, the lilt is always there. It’s just been distilled over the years. I resurrected it for you.” He watched her, as she seemed to mull over his statement. He could imagine her dissecting his statement and pulling up to consider the bits she chose to.“I’ll buy into that. Right.” She took a deep breath and smiled. A look hot enough to split his jeans if he wasn’t careful. A lesser expression than that had started wars, he was certain.“So, Rake.” The way she purred his name sent his libido sky high and he swore there would be a stain on his jeans. “A good name by the way. Now, what areyou going to show me?”His cock knew what he wanted. It was hard and tight up against the fly of his jeans, straining the zip in its effort to be free of its confines. He was glad Mr. Levi Strauss knew a thing or two about the strength of denim.“It depends on how much you want to fly.” His accent was now upper class English. “I know what I’d like.” He saw her considering his statement. “I’ll be open and honest. I agreed at first, because of a photo in Lorna’s purse. The pair of you, somewhere sunny.”“Barbados,” Vairi said, her voice faint. “Three years ago, just before she married. It was my birthday present. We ate, drank, and sunbathed. No sex.”“Shame.” He laughed. “Does your daughter not understand you are a living, breathing, sexy woman?”She laughed with him. “Probably not. No girl or woman or, I suspect, male likes to think their mother knows about, you know, sex. Okay, we’ve had the kids, but then? Zilch. Won’t they be in for a surprise when they get to that state?”He nodded and decided to use the element of surprise to catch her off guard. “So, Vairi My Queen, did you come on the horse? With its rod pressed hard where my cock wanted to be?” He took a gamble and guessed—hoped—she wouldn’t be shocked or offended by his frank speech. Vairi blushed, but no angry words accompanied it. So far, so good. Now he intended to make her less self-conscious.“I could have done,” Raig remarked frankly. “Very easily. Hard up against your ass, feeling you rubbing against me and that bloody pole. Knowing it gave you more of a good time than my cock was gutting. Gutting. What I really wanted was my cock in you, never mind the pole. I would be your pole. Hot, hard, and fuck you into oblivion. Hear you come. Feel you come. That’s what I want. To feel you milk me to fruition.” “Ah…” She seemed to struggle for an answer. Vairi stroked her index finger and seared a line down his cheek to his lips, which she tapped twice. “So? Why are you waiting? Be that pole, Rake. Because all I thought about as I got hot and bothered was you. You inside me, making me come. Now’s your chance. If you’re not bothered how old I am, why should I be? Cougars of the world unite and all that. Show me how you’re going to fuck me, Rake. Show me what you want, how you want it. Let me shout and scream for you.”

Q & A with Nicole Morgan!

Hello Nicole!  Thank you so much for visiting Written Butterfly with me today!  It’s such a pleasure to chat with you.  So tell me…

Q) How did you dream up the dynamics of your characters?
I felt like we’ve had so many alpha males in the leading roles of romance stories that I wanted to change things up a bit and depict an alpha female. A tough cookie who is hard to rein in. J

Q) Can you give a fun or interesting fact about your book?
The female lead, and her almost obnoxious persistence was inspired by a television movie character of the eighties. But I’m going to keep who under wraps. LOL

Q) Do you have any habits that get you in the writing frame of mind?
I need to turn everything off. Social media. The television, the radio, everything. I need to be able to focus on the story itself without any distractions.

Q) What are your upcoming projects?
Oh my… I have had such a busy year I have tons lined up, but here they are: Midnight Solstice Boxed Set December 2016 Snowy Knights Boxed Set December 2016 Midnight Magick Boxed Set January 2017 Under the Mask Boxed Set February 2017 A Valentine for Two Boxed Set February 2017 Dark Fantasies Boxed Set  March 2017 Paranormal Boxed Set April 2017 Wanna Be Bad Boxed Set March 2017 Wedding Romance Anthology   April 2017 Shared for the First Time Boxed Set April 2017 The Diamond Club Anthology   May 2017

Author BioNicole Morgan has been writing since 2009 and is an author of romance novels, which more often than not have a suspenseful back story. Erotic romance mixed with good old-fashioned whodunit. While she’s written everything from contemporary to paranormal, her leading men will more than likely be wearing a uniform of some kind. From military to police officers, she has a love for writing about those who protect and serve. From her very first novel (which turned into a four book series) about Navy SEALs to her more recent releases you will be sure to find a few twists and turns you were not expecting.
Nicole also writes under the pen names of Taylor Brooks and Nicki Day.
