Q & A with Amber Morgan!

Hello!  Thank you so much for visiting Written Butterfly with me today!
Thanks for having me! :D
Q) How did you dream up the dynamics of your characters?
I'm a classic pantser – planning ahead when it comes to writing is just not in my nature. But I know with short stories that every word counts, and I didn't want to waste words introducing a new couple and have them fall in love in an extremely short time-frame. So I went with a reunited lovers theme instead – Lara and Zane broke up a year ago. In WAKING THE LIONESS, chance throws them back together. They already know each other and have a deep, complex history. Adding Tate to the mix (who has his own established relationship with Zane) gives Lara and Zane's relationship a new twist...which was lots of fun to write!

Q) Is this book part of a series?  If so, can you tell us about it?
It will hopefully be the first in a series of shorts set in and around the fictional town of Malkin Ridge, focusing on shapeshifters and their love lives! I have a vague idea for a sequel to Lara/Zane/Tate's story.

Q) Do you have any habits that get you in the writing frame of mind?
I make up playlists for the majority of my projects – songs that remind me of characters or scenes, and I listen to those when I can't write, to keep me in the right mood for when I can write!

Q) What are your upcoming projects?
As well as the sequel to WAKING THE LIONESS, I'm working on an MC romance called Wolf's Hunt, the second in my Wild Blood MC series. I've also got a couple more short stories in the works, both paranormal romances, but very different in tone. I'm hoping to finish Wolf's Huntbefore anything else – the end is so very close!

BlurbConvinced she could never give her fiance what he truly wanted, cat-shifter Lara Carey walked away from her home and her engagement, and started fresh in New Orleans. One year on, she's never stopped missing Zane Walker...but it's too late to do anything about it, isn't it?

Zane Walker hasn't come to New Orleans to find Lara, but when chance throws them together, his passion for her is reignited. There's just one problem. Zane's new lover is missing somewhere in New Orleans, and even if Zane and Lara find him, can Lara accept him and Zane?

Congrats to Jessica Coulter Smith on her New Release!

Kicked off his home world after losing his mate, Reyvor has made a place for himself on Earth, spending his afternoons drinking and his nights cruising the streets on his Harley. But all of that is about to change. A commotion outside of his motel room just may turn out to be his saving grace.
Hazel has lost everything, but she'd do it all again if it meant escaping the abusive boyfriend who liked to beat on her three girls and herself. Dumpster diving has never been her favorite thing to do, but she doesn't have a penny to her name and her girls are starving. But when she's caught, something miraculous happens.
Reyvor knows right away that the petite woman with the large blue eyes needs him. When he hears that this little ragtag family hasn't eaten in days, he convinces Hazel to accept a warm meal and a place to stay for the night. The girls warm his heart and remind him of what he once wanted out of life. Is it too late to start over?
Hazel is hesitant to trust anyone again with her heart, but Reyvor is determined to make her his. What's an alien to do when all he wants is a loving family to call his own? He'll break down her defenses one by one, until she melts against him and begs for his kiss. But can he claim the feisty Hazel without completely losing his heart to her?
Character Interview

Nikki, you’re the big sister. I would imagine you feel protective when it comes to your siblings. Did you have any reservations about Reyvor when you met?
No. I could tell by looking in his eyes that he was kind. Not many men would offer to let a woman and her three kids stay in his hotel suite, feed them, and clothe them. He didn’t hesitate when he saw we needed help; he just stepped in and gave us whatever we needed.
So you were okay with your mom dating him?
Reyvor is wonderful. I only wish Mom had found him sooner. Maybe if she’d had a chance to meet someone like Reyvor, she never would have stayed with Dad, and we wouldn’t have ended up on the streets.
What’s it like living on the streets?
Scary. You never know where your next meal will come from, or if there will even be one. Unless you have money to spend at a truck stop, there’s not really a chance for a hot shower, and you can forget about clean clothes because money is too scarce to spend it at a laundromat. I think the scariest thing was the night Abby was almost abducted from the homeless shelter while we slept. If she hadn’t managed to scream, I doubt we would have ever seen her again.
You’re a very brave little girl to go through all that.
I’m not little. And you have to be strong to make it on the streets. There isn’t really a choice if you want to survive.
But things are good now, right? You’re happy?
Very! Reyvor bought us this amazing house where we all have our own room. And I’m kind of hope for another sister or maybe a brother before too long. Mom told Reyvor she would be okay with having more children and I think it would be great to have a bigger family.

Well, thank you for visiting with me, Nikki. I’m glad you got your happy ending.

EXCERPTHazel looked at her children and wondered what she was going to do next. It had been weeks since they’d had a bath, even longer since they’d had clean clothes. All of their belongings had been stolen at a shelter downtown, and poor Abby had almost been abducted. Hazel had steered clear of the place since then, deciding it was safer on the streets. They’d slept in the park on nights when it was nice, and huddled in shop doorways on rainy ones. It had been so long since they’d felt the comfort of a bed or had the luxury of a roof. But living on the streets was better than the alternative.“Momma,” Winnie said. “Are we going to sleep here with the nice purple man?”“He’s a Terran, honey, and no. We’ll stay long enough to eat and then we should move along. It was nice of him to offer food for us, but we mustn’t take advantage of him.” Even though she had to admit staying with him wouldn’t be a hardship. When she’d crashed into him, she’d felt the strength in his arms and her gaze had clashed with his dark pansy colored one. She’d felt her heart race in her chest and had hoped he couldn’t feel it too.Abby curled into the corner of the sofa. “But it’s nice here. I don’t want to leave.”“I’m sorry, sweet angel. I know you miss things like TV…”“And hot water,” Nikki mumbled.“But we just can’t afford a place right now,” Hazel continued as if her eldest daughter hadn’t just smarted off. “Since you don’t work, we’re never going to afford a place,” Nikki said. “Are we going to live on the streets forever? Because right now, I’d rather be home with Dad.”Hazel sucked in a sharp breath. “You don’t mean that! Your father is the reason we’re living the way we do. Did you really want to stay and see if he became angry enough to kill one of us? Or all of us? Weren’t you tired of the beatings and screaming?”“Daddy’s a mean man,” Winnie said. “But the purple man seems nice. Maybe he wants a family.”“Honey, you can’t just pick a man and decide to live with him.” Well, technically you could, but she didn’t want to get into that with her middle child. At seven, Winnie was too smart for her own good. And Hazel wouldn’t lie to herself… she kind of liked the idea of staying with the Terran. Their meeting had been brief, but she’d seen kindness in his eyes and there was a gentleness to his touch. Two things that had been missing from her life for a long time.“Why did you stay with Dad so long if he’s so horrible?” Nikki asked.“Your father was nice when we first met, and he treated me right. It wasn’t until Winnie was born that he began to change. Something twisted in his mind and suddenly everyone was out to get him and nothing was ever good enough. $Weweren’t good enough. I’d rather live on the streets than take a chance on your father harming one of you again.”The sound of a motorcycle alerted Hazel to the alien’s return. She shushed the girls and hoped they wouldn’t say anything embarrassing in front of him. He really did seem like a nice man, but they would accept their meal and be on their way. If they hurried, they might still get a good spot at the park to sleep for the night. Not that Hazel did much sleeping. She dozed off here and there, but she tried hard to stay awake and watch over the children. Her body was exhausted and she couldn’t remember the last time she’d slept through the night.Unbidden, an image of her wrapped in Reyvor’s arms rippled through her mind. What would it be like to be held all night by someone like him? She doubted she would ever find out.
About the Author What happens when you get two artistic romantics together? An impulsive marriage proposal - and a woman who says yes (on the first date)! While Jessica's husband may not have intended for the words "marry me" to pop out on their first date, she surprised him even more by saying yes! That was in 2000 and they're hoping for many more years together.

Jessica Coulter Smith began writing at an early age, but it wasn't until 2008 that someone convinced her to have one of her stories published. When she received her acceptance letter in August 2008, it set her on an incredible journey, one she hopes will never end. In 2010, she decided to stay home with the kids and write full-time. It's a decision she hasn't regretted, and one that will hopefully result in many more stories to come.Stalk the AuthorFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/jessicacoultersmithauthorTwitter: https://twitter.com/kitcatjms Website: http://www.jessicacoultersmith.com/Blog: https://jessicacoultersmith.wordpress.com/

Male Pregnancy (MPreg) Erotica...A Unique Twist on M/M Sci-Fi

WELCOME JACEY HOLBRAND & ELIZABETH MONVEY! I'm extremely thrilled to have both of these Evernight authors on my blog today, who write a very unique twist in M/M erotica sci-fi romance. Their stories are of male pregnancy, or Mpreg, which is a hot trend right now that not many authors are delving into.  First up is Elizabeth, who was kind enough to answer some questions, and then Jacey talks about how she and Elizabeth collaborated on ideas.
 Q) How did you dream up the dynamics of writing Mpreg?
Actually, the senior editor at Evernight suggested it me, and then one day at coffee, I brought it up with Jacey, who had similar ideas about the concept.  From there, my first Mpreg story, My Pregnant Boyfriend, grew.
Q) Is it part of a series?  If so, can you tell us about it?
Yes!  My Pregnant Boyfriend was part of the My Boyfriend Is…series, and the current books I’m writing now are called the Divergent Species series.  The first book, The Bear’s True Mate, leads us into a world were genetic manipulation between shifters are possible.

Q) Do you plan all your characters out before you start a story or do they develop as you write?
I’ve had to plan out the Divergent Species books because the last book ties into my short story, Outlaw Wolf, in the Bad Alpha: Manlove anthology edition.
Q) What drew you to this unusual genre?
I like that it’s a subject that hasn’t really been explored yet.  There aren’t that many authors writing it, so it was a challange.  For me, though, I have to make it believable so I had to come up with a logical, scientific explanation on how a man might become pregnant.  With the first book, I simply used the “nature finds a way” method.  With The Bear’s True Mate and Declawed, I wanted to explore how in nature, some males can give birth, or some genders can switch when needed.  The research was fascinating.
Jacey and I might write the same genre, but we use completely different concepts on how to achieve the male pregnancy.  If you’ve not read The Agency books, I highly suggest you do so.  They are spooky, and scary, and whisk you into that place where the boogeyman hides.  I LOVE her books!

Hi everyone! Big thanks to Beth D. Carter for having me on her blog today to talk about my male pregnancy stories and how they came about. :)In the fall of 2014, my friend, Elizabeth Monvey, and I had been talking about the stories we planned on writing and trying to figure out what the “next big thing” would be and what readers would find different and interesting to read. As the conversation ensued, the subject of male pregnancy came up. We both thought the topic had possibilities, but how would we make men get pregnant in our stories?
I’d already started a series called The Agency with the male-male, sci-fi story, ‘The Encounter’. I’d planned on doing a mix of paranormal and science fiction stories for this particular series, but after talking with Elizabeth, I decided The Agency would lean more toward sci-fi. My muse came up with the idea of alien scientific experimentation in which the aliens make men pregnant.
With each story, I’m trying to create different ways the aliens impregnate the men to keep things interesting. Also, in changing up how the series would be, another alien race came into the picture along with a conspiracy theory one of the characters is trying to solve. So far the books are as follows: ‘The Encounter’ where readers are introduced to the alien race through Evan’s abduction; ‘Breeding Seth’ where we discover how Seth is taken and impregnated; and ‘Cooper’s Condition’ in which Cooper is snatched and winds up pregnant. I’ve had a rough year writing wise with a lot of personal stuff that’d cropped up, but I’ve been pecking away at the fourth story in The Agency when I can. Hopefully I’ll be wrapping up ‘Mason’s Mijos’ and submitting it soon. It’s a male ménage with a few paranormal aspects on top of the science fiction stuff. ‘Mason’s Mijos’ will reveal the other alien race and delve more into the conspiracy aspect as well as have some more mpreg goodness. Then it’ll be onto the last book in The Agency where everything will be wrapped up. After that, I’m thinking of doing a spin-off series involving the alien races and the earth/star children, but we’ll see how time tells. ;)And, to think, all this came about from having a cup of coffee with a good friend. Thanks, Elizabeth! :)Big thanks to you too, dear readers, for taking time to read our stories and wanting more.Love & blessings to all, Jacey

Welcome Lynn Burke! Risso Family Returns...

Hello!  Thank you so much for visiting Written Butterfly with me today!

Q) How did you dream up the dynamics of your characters?
Zane had made appearances in earlier Risso Family novellas, and Raquel was born out of knowing what he needed to be tamed. A Dom and an innocent with a secretive kinky mind = fireworks galore.
Q) Is this book part of a series?  If so, can you tell us about it?
This is book four in my Risso Family series which follows four siblings from the Boston area. I’ve branched out with a cousin who we meet in Tempered by Her, Theo. I just signed a contract with Evernight for his story, Chasing after Him.
Q) Can you give a fun or interesting fact about your book?
I grew up in an uber conservative family, and even at a young age, my mind tended toward the ‘bad’ if you know what I mean. Took me awhile to find the guts to explore that part of my mind and the characters screaming for attention.
Q) What gave you the inspiration for your book?
The entire series actually began as a short story for an anthology call. Susceptible to Him morphed into a story beyond that call when Lia’s brothers began whispering in my brain telling me they wanted their own stories as well.
Q) Do you have any habits that get you in the writing frame of mind?
No habits, but I’ve been known to jot down notes on anything handy as they come to mind. A lot of my plot lines come into focus as I’m cleaning. Go figure!
Q) Do you plan all your characters out before you start a story or do they develop as you write?
I’m a major planner, and I’ve been known to fill out a few personality tests in order to solidify a character, their thoughts, ticks, and favorite sayings in my brain.
Q) How much real life do you put into or influences your books?
A little from not just my own life, but friends, families, & even people I see in passing. The news is always loaded with good stuff to glean from, as is my Facebook stream.
Q) What are your upcoming projects?
My 5th Risso Family novella will be releasing within the next 2 months, and the second in my Found by Fate series, Finding Freedom releases Feb 1st with Roane Publishing.

An author I admire BIG TIME contacted me a few days ago about co-writing a novel with her. We’re in planning stages, but I am STOKED to say the least!
Tempered by HerRisso Family #4By Lynn BurkeGenre: Contemporary Erotic RomanceRelease Date: November 17, 2015Publisher: Evernight Publishing
Blurb:
Zane Risso, a Dominant unyielding in his desires, is haunted by the one woman he wants and can’t have, vanilla goodie-two-shoes Raquel Hawkins. He knows the only way to flush her from his system is to seduce her and move on, because surrendering the kink club addiction he enjoys is not a demand he'll accept. From any woman. Raquel Hawkins has never known temptation like the blue-eyed Italian god who seems fond of whispering naughty things in her ear during office hours. He’s bad news—sin personified—and although she continues to deny him, her body’s responses to his sensual words just might buy her a one-way ticket to hell. From their first kiss, Zane’s determination to overcome her Pollyanna principles threatens his lifestyle. For Raquel, giving into temptation would doubtless leave her heart a shredded mess—and unlock sordid secrets best left in the dark.

Excerpt:
I found Raquel kneeling in the center of my bed, hands on her lap, head bowed, her high heels placed side by side on the floor at the bed’s foot. She hadn’t obeyed my first command, but fuck me, I didn’t give a shit.
I’d planned on taking her over my knee and reddening every inch of her ass and thighs, but seeing her in such a submissive pose in the middle of my bed had me drooling for a taste. “Take off your blouse.”
She started at my voice, but lifted shaking hands to do as told. With each button slipped free, my arousal returned, and the blue silk sliding off her bare shoulders and revealing a see-through white lace bra and puckered rosy nipples brought a groan to my lips.“Lay back.” I strode forward as she straightened her legs and complied, the sounds of her quickened breaths heating my blood.
Fuckin’ Raquel Hawkins, sweet innocent, was on my bed, the darkness beneath her knee-length skirt sending my saliva glands into hyper-drive. I slipped leather ties around her wrists and tied her tight to my headboard. She chewed on her lower lip, chest rising and falling enough to make me think she might call out her safe word, but she kept silent.
I kicked off my shoes and climbed onto the bed, pushing up her pencil skirt with agonizing slowness over nylon-clad legs while settling on my haunches between them.
Thigh highs. I swallowed. Fuckin’A.
A sweep of my thumbs from inner to outer thighs, and she lifted her ass, allowing me to push the skirt to her waist. So much for my assumption about granny panties. White lace matching her bra and a scrap of silk hid her virgin curls from me. I leaned down, breathing in the sweet, musky scent of her arousal. “I’m going to taste you, Raquel.”
She gasped, her hands flexing in their restraints.
“You’re not allowed to come until I tell you to.”
“W-what?”
I reached up and pinched her nipple, earning another gasp, a groan of pleasure on its heels as she writhed on the bed. “The proper response would be, yes, Sir.”
She licked her lips again and whispered, “Yes, Sir.”
“Yes, Sir, what?”
“I won’t come until you tell me to.”

Welcome Sara Anderson! Wild Mountain Shifters Series!

Thank you so much, Sara, for visiting Written Butterfly!

Q) How did you dream up the dynamics of your characters?

I think about the things my husband does for me that melts my heart, and he does a lot. I also pay attention to how women talk, what they want in a book boyfriend. I try to find a nice mix between the fantasy and reality, so the book isn’t too far out of the realm of possibility.

Q) Is this book part of a series?
Yes.
If so, can you tell us about it?
My shifter series, Wild Mountain Shifters, is about a group of shifters living together in a mountain town in Colorado. I love a good story with mythical creatures so I added several. Some are cute like the fairies that play in pollen. Some are hideous like the morchain.
Q) Can you give a fun or interesting fact about your book?
When a male shifter mates with a human he shares a bit of the magic in him with her making it possible for her to see the magical creatures and get pregnant.

Q) What gave you the inspiration for your book?
While bathing my toddler I started thinking about a woman camping in the mountains and she runs across shifters. The questions started then, what made her attract their attention? Millions of people visit the mountains and they don’t give them a second look. Why is my character special? The Guardian’s plot took shape that night.

Q) Do you have any habits that get you in the writing frame of mind?
Brainstorming with others will get me writing.

Q) Do you plan all your characters out before you start a story or do they develop as you write?
I start most stories with a vague idea. I start working on one character until the story starts coming to me. I tried planning but my characters rebelled.

Q) How much real life do you put into or influences your books?
I try to add a lot. It is easier to write about things I know. It pulls me out of my imagination to have to look things up.

Q) What are your upcoming projects?
I have a new science fiction series I would like to write. I thought about another paranormal as well.
BLURB

While vacationing in the Colorado mountains, Cassie is attacked by a wild animal. She manages to get to the local town in hopes of reporting the attack to the Sheriff. But she falls ill from the bite wounds and is found by the shifter guardian, Michael.

Michael learns Cassie is half shifter, and the essence that had been dormant is now stirring due to the bites she received from a renegade shifter. The only way to save her life is to change her completely.

They find themselves drawn to one another, and Michael uses the bond they have formed to teach Cassie about their ways, shifting, and submitting to his dominance in and out of the bedroom.

I am Sara Anderson. I am an author published through Evernight Publishing. I also have a science fiction series.

I am married to the man I met in high school and we have three children together.

We live in rural southern Missouri. It is beautiful here with the gentle rolling hills and green acreage. There are cows everywhere since this area has two of the top beef producing counties in the state. Cowboys are easy to find here, and country music is the default music of every grocery store and gas station.
Wild Mountain Shifters
Cole and Blair planned to mate, until a tragic event caused Cole to call off their relationship. By the time Cole realized his awful mistake it was too late. Blair had gone, joining her parents overseas.

For four years Blair lived abroad, but when her grandmother died, she returned to take over her grandmother’s café. She still tried to avoid Cole, but he never gave up over the year she has been back. He always ensured she was safe, going into her coffee shop every day, hoping that she would forgive him, but she remained aloof.

When Blair breaks shifter law, the shifter Guardian Michael forces her to submit to Cole. She spends one night with Cole and realizes if she stays, she will fall for him all over again, and decides to run.

But a human wanting revenge on shifters for his brother’s death is watching Blair, and waiting for his chance to exact his revenge on her.

With this dangerous man intent on harming Blair, Cole may lose her forever before he gets the chance to win her heart again.

Q & A with N.J. Young

Hello!  Thank you so much for visiting Written Butterfly with me today!    Thank you for having me on your blog today! I appreciate the opportunity to introduce myself to your readers and talk about my new release, Double Down! Double Down is the first title in my Ozark Magic series. In the first book, you will meet many of the interesting characters that live in the lake resort town of Magic, Missouri. Magic is full of love, adventure, super hot guys, and the occasional murder…
Q) How did you dream up the dynamics of your characters? The first four books in the series are based on four best friends. I thought it would be fun to explore the personalities and lives of four women who are extremely close, yet very different. I love being able to explore different personalities and present women who have different types of strengths. And for the romance aspect… well, I love to read ménage, so that is just a favorite fantasy of mine to incorporate. I love the idea of presenting unconventional love stories.

Q) Is this book part of a series?  If so, can you tell us about it?Yes! Double Down is the first book in my Ozark Magic series. The setting is Magic, Missouri, which is in the Lake of the Ozarks area. Magic is a small lake resort town, which is home to all kinds of crazy characters whom you will meet throughout the series! Even though Magic is a small town, there is still room for tons of drama, lots of super hot ménage sex, and the occasional murder…

Q) Can you give a fun or interesting fact about your book? The first four books in the Ozark Magic series are based on four best friends – Izzy, Andrea, Tessa, and Jillian. The personalities of these four women are based on myself and my three best friends from college, but I won’t tell you which is which. ;-)

Q) What gave you the inspiration for your book?I absolutely love romantic suspense, and my mind is always spinning stories. The Lake of the Ozarks area is one of my favorite places. It’s so beautiful down there and so romantic! With it being a resort area, there are many different businesses, activities, events, etc. There are just so many different settings in this one town for all kinds of different stories to take place.

Q) Do you have any habits that get you in the writing frame of mind?I have to have background noise to be able to write. I cannot concentrate if it’s silent, so I always have music on. But it has to be something that’s more like white noise. If it’s music I’m really interested in, then it will distract me. (My husband finds this habit very odd.) J
Also, if I’m writing a sex scene, I play love songs, read some great love scenes from some of my favorite books, and sometimes look at some suggestive photos and videos on Tumblr to get in the mood.
Q) Do you plan all your characters out before you start a story or do they develop as you write?I do plan out the major characters in advance. I write a brief backstory for my major characters, and I write an outline before each book so I know where I’m going and the important points I need to make sure I hit. I have the first four books planned out in my head, so I am throwing in a few things now and introducing characters who will come into play later in the series.

Q) How much real life do you put into or influences your books?I don’t base the stories on real life, but I do base the personalities of my female characters on the personalities of my friends. I also write about locations I know because that makes them easier to describe. Most of the men in my story are just pure fantasy. J

Q) What are your upcoming projects? I have the second book in the Ozark Magic series about half-written. My goal is to have it submitted to Evernight by the end of the year. It is the story of Andrea, Theo, and Flynn—all of whom you meet in Double Down. And here is a scoop for you… the title of the second book is In Too Deep!

In addition to the Ozark Magic series, I am also working on my Love With a Price series. The first title in that series, A Hero Inside, is estimated to be out by the end of this month. The second title, One Sweet Taste, is estimated to be out in December (both with Evernight). And I am almost ready to hit submit on my third title in this series, Be Mine

BlurbIzzy Craig might live in a town called Magic, but her life is anything but. After nursing her beloved grandfather, he has passed away, leaving her to manage a busy lake resort and an unrequited crush on the town’s sheriff, Graham Nolan. Things start to look up when Graham’s estranged brother Chris comes to town. If she can’t have one handsome Nolan man, maybe his twin will do.

Graham’s feelings for Izzy have always been complicated . . . and intense. When he realizes that his brother has encroached on his territory, he’s not sure if he can deal. They’ve tried sharing a woman before, and that ended in heartache for everyone. But when Izzy’s sketchy uncle enters the picture, Graham’s cop senses go on high alert. He may very well have to trust his brother, Izzy, and himself, if he wants to keep the woman he loves safe.

ExcerptHer soft lips pressed against his mouth, causing Graham’s eyes to widen in surprise. He’d sensed her unease, so her sudden aggressiveness took him aback for a moment. She wanted them? Was that what she was saying with this kiss?
Stepping forward, Izzy pressed her body against his and he groaned at the feel of her firm breasts pressed against his chest. When her tongue hesitantly probed through his parted lips, he would have lost control if it weren’t for Chris standing behind her dramatically clearing his throat.
Grasping her shoulders, it took every ounce of strength in Graham to push Izzy away and plant her back on her feet. Her lips were slightly swollen, and her blue eyes had darkened. Before he could catch his breath to speak, a stunned look crossed her pretty face.
“I – I’m sorry. You said this wasn’t the right time. Obviously you don’t want to – I – I shouldn’t have. . .” She trailed off, trying to step away, but both of them reached for her at the same time. Dammit, he hadn’t meant to upset her.
Looking to his brother for help, Graham was relieved when Chris leaned into Izzy without hesitation, easing her worry.
“You have to tell us, baby,” Chris murmured against her ear. “Trust me, we want nothing more than to kiss your pretty lips until your head swims, but you have to tell us what you want first.”
“I don’t want to guess wrong,” Graham agreed, reaching for her hand and entwining his fingers with hers. “It would be easy for us to just take you, toss you on the bed, make you come over and over.” He stepped closer to her as her eyes started to glaze at that statement. “And maybe that’s what you want. Us taking you without you having to actually make the decision.” He brushed her swollen lips with the pad of his finger. “But it doesn’t work that way, sweetheart. You have to tell us what you want.”
“But – but – I thought you liked to dominate.” Damn, that low, breathy voice did things to him.
He had to bite back a groan. The thought of dominating Izzy, tying her up, spanking that pretty round ass caused him to harden to the point of pain. “Baby, I need to know that you want us – together – as much as we want you. We need your consent, Iz. And once you doconsent, you should know that we won’t go easy on you.”
Her jaw dropped open a bit as her eyes dilated, and Graham grinned as she tried to figure out what he meant. Behind her, Chris gave him a sly smile.
“I – I —” she stammered, and then bit her lip and took a shaky breath.
“Deep breath, sweetheart,” Chris crooned, his lips finding her ear again. Graham shot him a warning look. If he didn’t quit kissing her, she wasn’t going to be able to form a thought, much less words.
“I – I want you.” Her breathy voice was barely audible, and he stepped close enough to press himself against her, sandwiching her in between himself and Chris.
Taking another long shaky breath, she tried again. “I want both of you – to – to make love to me.” The way her milky skin flushed led Graham to believe that she’d never actually said that to a man before, never asked for what she wanted.
Her words empowered him. She wanted them. She was theirs. He leaned forward to take her lips, cupping her face in his large hands so he could tilt her head how he wanted. His tongue traced the line of her lips until they parted, allowing him access. He swallowed her light whimper as his tongue delved deeper. And she kissed him back. Oh how she kissed him back. When her hands clutched at his arms, he eased back, gently nipping her bottom lip.
“Chris,” Graham spoke to his brother without looking away from Izzy. “Undress her. I want her naked.”
Her breath caught in her throat, and she jerked her head back to look at Chris who smiled wickedly. “With pleasure.”
As Graham backed up to allow his brother room, Chris walked around to stand in front of Izzy. He jokingly rolled his eyes at Graham. “He can be a little bossy,” he said to her with a wink.
Graham watched as his brother ran his hands lightly down her arms, before lifting her arms over her head. He quickly stripped off her black blouse before tugging off the khaki pants she wore.
When Chris stepped back, he darted a glance at his twin, and Graham could see that his eyes were as molten as he felt inside.
Izzy stood before both of them in only her black bra and panties, looking from one man to the other as their steel gazes swept up and down her body, ravenously consuming every inch of her. When a shiver went through her, Graham reached out to envelop her in his arms. “Are we making you nervous, sweetheart?”
She shook her head, a little smile playing at her mouth.
Chris reached out, needing to touch her, and Graham passed her off to his brother. “Are you sure? I know we can be a little overwhelming.”
“I’m sure,” she said, smiling at their concern. “Very sure. I need you. Both of you. I want you both so much, so badly. I just  . . .” She stumbled. “I um —”
“What, baby? What’s wrong?” Graham asked. When her gaze slid away, he lifted her chin up. “Look at me, Iz. What’s wrong? You need to be honest with us or I will smack that pretty ass right now.”
The brief flaring of her eyes told Graham she would enjoy a spanking, his hand pounding her ass. Now, there was some fun they could have later.

Interview with Louise Taylor!

Hello!  Thank you so much for visiting Written Butterfly with me today!
Q) How did you dream up the dynamics of your characters?
This is something that I agonise over, actually! I write historical romances, set in the Victorian era, which covers the majority of the nineteenth century. I strive for historical accuracy, but I am aware that women of that period were not encouraged to be independent and use their intelligence. I don’t know about my readers, but I’m not keen to read about women being limited in that way. Too many real women in 2015 suffer from those same strictures for me to be comfortable creating fictional heroines who placidly accept it. I need a heroine to be someone I can respect, and I respect women who try to use whatever abilities they have in order to achieve something in life.
Of course, this is tricky when you’re writing spanking romances! They’re all about power exchange, which I insist on being consensual. So, my heroine has to be independent and take-charge, but completely willing to be dominated by a hero who is alpha-male enough to be in control, but self-aware enough to know that submission is sweeter when it is given, not taken.
You may understand why I spend a lot of time banging my head against my desk…
In Spanking The Heiress, my third novel, my heroine Jennifer is in a bad position as her father has died, leaving her homeless. The Earl of Beaumont, the man who has inherited her home, needs to sell it in order to provide enough money to shore up a failing estate. He is uncomfortable with the idea of throwing her out of her home, but he can’t help but notice how attractive she is. They have an instant attraction, but his position of power over her is strange for both of them.

Q) Is this book part of a series?  If so, can you tell us about it?
It’s the third in a loose series – the heroes of the three books know each other socially and pop up here and there, but each book can be read as a standalone novel. Of course, I encourage everyone to read all three – Spanking The Governess, Spanking Miss Sophia and Spanking The Heiress!
Q) Can you give a fun or interesting fact about your book?
It is set in Cornwall, a county of England that my ancestors lived in before moving to Wales during the Industrial Revolution. They had worked in the tin mines until they closed, and then they switched to coal mining and working on the railways. The Cornish language is very close to Welsh, and in researching certain phrases I discovered just how much Cornish I could understand!
Q) What gave you the inspiration for your book?
Oh, every book I’ve ever read that included secret passages and buried treasure? When I was younger and watched the Indiana Jones films, I never wanted to be his girlfriend, no matter how pretty she was. I wanted to be Indy! I very much doubt I’ll ever find a secret passage in real life, but I can live vicariously through my characters…
Q) Do you have any habits that get you in the writing frame of mind?
Not so much, although I have discovered that I have to have warm feet. Nothing takes me out of the writing mood faster than cold feet!
Q) Do you plan all your characters out before you start a story or do they develop as you write?
I plan extensively – A3 paper sheets taped together with sprawling notes over them, post-it notes attached, pictures printed from the internet – and then they develop from that organically. They are mostly fleshed out before I start though. I can’t imagine writing without a detailed plan.
Q) How much real life do you put into or influences your books?
Very little, as my books are all historicals. I’m no Society lady, sadly! I do a lot of research though, to try and make them as realistic as I can.
Q) What are your upcoming projects?
I have two novels in a new series, The Ruttingdon Club. The first, The Duke’s Proposition, is due out in December and the second, Annabelle’s Awakening, will be available in January, both by Blushing Book Publications.
The Ruttingdon Club is a secret, exclusive gentleman’s club known only to the select few who enjoy giving pain as they receive their pleasure. The novels will revolve around certain key members and their ladies who are introduced to the dark delights inside the doors of the Ruttingdon Club…These are a lot spicier than my first three novels and have made my internet browsing history something very special to behold!
Blurb

Anthony Carstairs, Earl of Beaumont, has seven sisters and very little money to provide for their dowries, dresses, and dreams of good society marriages. An unexpected inheritance from a distant relative is an absolute godsend for the cash-strapped earl. The estate he will inherit, however, is located in far-off Cornwall. There is a rather rundown manor house, as well as an uninhabitable castle overlooking the sea, along with some good farmland, so the earl’s first thought is to sell the place for much needed funds.
For Jennifer Polperran, current occupant of the house and lands in question, the earl’s inheritance means that she has lost her home. Her adopted father had little else to leave her, so she must either marry a much-loathed neighbor, Sir Alec Salcombe, or live in extremely reduced circumstances.
But for all her life, Jennifer’s father had told her of an ancient legend, of a fortune in gold and jewels stolen by two star-crossed lovers and hidden away somewhere on the estate just before their tragic and untimely deaths. Many had sought the treasure over the centuries, but Jennifer might just have found the key to its location, if only she could get the new owner’s consent, and perhaps even cooperation in finding it.

Convincing the Earl of Beaumont to give her leave to stay and search proves less difficult than she imagined. But their way is fraught with disappointment and peril, not the least of which is caused by the ruthless and rapacious Sir Alec. But romance quickly blossoms between the earl and the penniless Jennifer, and together they persevere in the hunt that is their best hope for a bright, golden future together.

Sneak Peak
“I don’t want you to go,” she said, emotion cracking her words.
“Oh, dear girl, I don’t want to go either,” he said, looking tearful himself. “But the good Lord has a plan, and it seems that he wants me to go to Him sooner rather than later.”
“It’s not fair,” Jennifer said, wiping at her eyes with the sleeve of her day dress.
“One thing that life teaches you, my dear, is that nobody can expect it to be fair,” her father said dryly. “Our worth as men and women comes from how we deal with that unfairness, both for ourselves and others. Remember that, Jennifer. Kindness and charity are our greatest gifts, both to others and to ourselves.”
“How could I possibly forget that?” Jennifer said. “Your kindness to me, by taking me in when I was a baby, spared me from a life that I dread to think about.”
“Oh, but you gave your mother and me a much greater gift, my dear,” the old man said, smiling. “We loved each other very much, but had resigned ourselves to a life without children. You let us understand the joys of being a parent, and that is a priceless treasure.”
They were silent for a minute, remembering Jennifer’s mother, a happy, loving woman who had died six years previously when Jennifer was just eighteen.
“There are things we must talk about, my dear, while I am still in possession of my senses,” her father said gently. “There is a box on the table there, by the window. Bring it to me.”
Jennifer put the heavy chest on the bed, within easy reach of her father. He could notopen it alone, so she pushed back the lid. Fumbling around inside it, he brought out a sheaf of papers and an old book, the binding peeling off and the papers crumbling.
“This is a copy of my will,” he told her, putting the document in her hand. “I had Sanderson come up from Penzance to make it. He has a copy, too. It outlines what you can expect from me after I die, which is, I am ashamed to say, not very much.”
Jennifer began to protest, but her father held up his hand for silence.
“I cannot leave you this house, the land, or the castle, as they are entailed in the male line. When I die, they all go to my closest male relative, much good may they do him.”
Jennifer couldn’t help a small smile. The manor house they lived in was dear to her heart, but it was old and hard to maintain. There were leaks in the roof and dry rot in the timbers, the rooms had high ceilings and were difficult to heat. It sat on acres of scrubby moorland, suitable for neither grazing nor growing. The castle that her father’s family had once lived in was a few miles away, perched precariously on a cliff. When she was growing up, every few months her father had taken her to visit the ruin to see how much of it had fallen into the sea. Two of the towers still stood firm, and some rooms had a roof, but much of the castle was too dangerous to spend much time in. Anything of value had been stripped from the place and sold years ago.
“Who will inherit the land, Papa?” she asked. “I’ve never heard you talk about any relatives.”
“It’s a very distant connection,” he father replied. “We Polperrans aren’t a very hardy lot. Somewhere back along the family tree, a young lady married up, as they say, into the nobility. The Earl of Beaumont is a cousin, several times removed, and it is he who will inherit. Do not ask me about him; all I know is his name.
“All is not lost, though. I can leave you the contents of the house,” her father went on.“ And the castle, though there’s precious little there. I checked with Sanderson about that, and there’s nothing in the entail that forbids it. You’re also to be granted anything below the land, from here to the castle.”
He looked at her expectantly.
“The treasure,” Jennifer sighed. “Father, you’ve never been able to find any proof that it exists, outside of myth and legend.”
“Lack of proof is not the same thing as lack of existence,” her father said sharply. “You can’t prove something doesn’t exist just because you can’t see it.”

I live on the beautiful Welsh coast, and I love walking the cliff tops and visiting some of our wonderful historical ruins. I get my best ideas when I'm in the great outdoors and you can usually find me chasing after the piece of paper I've just scribbled my notes on!
I live in a late Victorian house with wonderfully high ceilings and no central heating - thank goodness for my fabulous fireplace! Welcome Ian Smith!

Hello, Ian!  Thank you so much for visiting Written Butterfly with me today!

Q) How did you dream up the dynamics of your characters?
There’s a lot about my story creation I don’t understand. I rather enjoy the way the stories and people appear in my mind. In this story, I wanted to make the two women into different characters, so described my brief “backstories” for them in a Facebook writing group and asked for comments, and I was offered some great ideas. I’ll be developing this more fully in book 2.

Q) Is this book part of a series?  If so, can you tell us about it?
It is! The series is called “Merely Players”, and I credit Shakespeare in the first book. In book 1, Paul is recruited to work on a TV show. In book 2, he works on the show. The other ideas I have all involve the other TV shows they all work on, with tension and drama coming from various sources. I have different story ideas for books 3 to 6. And I’d love to have a spin-off series of three stories from two of the supporting cast in book 2. I’ve already written most of their story and needed to have Paul as one of their friends, so it made sense to have them as his in the Merely Players series. Well, it made sense at the time...

Q) Can you give a fun or interesting fact about your book?
My original idea was told in a 200-word flash fiction story. That set my neurons in motion and other ideas developed... I stopped at just under 35,000 words! And the original flash fiction story doesn’t even appear until book 2.
It’s also an example of how research can be fun. I’ve seen a couple of jousting teams do displays and even spent a day learning the basics with one, who train stunt performers as well as run corporate entertainment and “special treat” days.

Q) What gave you the inspiration for your book?
My original idea was a short story of maybe 15,000 words. In my 200-word story, the characters were working on the show and in a relationship, so I needed some backstory. I remembered the jousting, developed the supporting cast, had an idea for giving Paul a significant moment of doubt and anxiety and the story seemed to flow along.

Q) Do you have any habits that get you in the writing frame of mind?
No, quite the opposite. I’m forever rolling ideas around in my mind and have to concentrate on other things sometimes. Like my day job.

Q) Do you plan all your characters out before you start a story or do they develop as you write?
The amount of thought I put into a character before writing varies, but I’ve never planned a story or defined a character on paper before writing.

Q) How much real life do you put into or influences your books?
As much as I think the story needs. I obviously write about loads of things I’ll never experience, but some stuff seems to work better if I know how it feels.
I ride horses, so I can briefly describe the sensations to provide “colour” and help my readers imagine the experience.
For one story idea, I wanted a character to use a traditional English longbow, so I found a local archery centre doing “taster days” and went along. And took it up as a new hobby.
At my archery club, one of the members is a military doctor, which gives me an expert to ask about medical stuff. I’ll never sew up a wound, but I know someone who has, and I can ask them about it!

Q) What are your upcoming projects?
Book 2 is already well on the way and I want that published next. I’m uncertain what to do after that, as I have four different ideas, but I’m not going to stop now I’ve got the bug!

Biography
I'm a professional scientist by day, madcap writer in my spare time. I’ve lived in various parts of England, and am now settled in Cornwall, in the south-west of England. Not far from Poldark country...
My education was obviously science-based, but I've always been a keen reader - thrillers, science fiction, fantasy, horror, a few classics, and even some romances.
Scientific papers and technical reports are interesting to write, but one day I knew they weren’t what I wanted to do. I started writing general interest factual articles and giving public talks. Then I decided to try fiction and joined a constructive critiquing group, whose feedback convinced me to stick at it. My confidence was boosted by having four short stories published in anthologies. Now I’ve gone and written a whole book, I want to write another.

Blurb
Lonely widower Paul knows he's ready to move on and start a new relationship, but doesn't expect to meet two attractive and interesting women at the same time. They want to recruit his jousting display team to feature in a TV show.
Becky and Hayley are best friends, as different as chalk and cheese, and both clearly fancy Paul. A decent guy at heart, he hopes to win one without harming their friendship. But the women don't make it any easier when they turn up the heat and leave him wondering what's going on.
A fantastic prize is within his reach. He just has to overcome his deepest fears, self-doubts, and fragile self-confidence. And be Hayley's leading man in the TV show she hopes will make her name. So no pressure. Just take a deep breath and let these two intriguing women lead him way outside his comfort zone.

Congrats to Elodie Parkes on her release Unusual Vacation!

Hi, thank you for inviting me to your blog to talk about my latest book from Evernight. An Unusual Vacation  (October 29 release)
I originally expected this story to be a short, but as the plot developed and the characters took over, the story grew and grew, and still there’s more to tell, because one of the supporting characters, Connor, is going to have his own story.
Dominic Carr, my hero and Michelle Vega, my heroine, couldn’t be more different, but they are instantly drawn to each other and the resulting passion between them is intense. Dominic’s hopes are high, making him vulnerable. Michelle is involved in a dangerous lifestyle far removed from Dominic’s, but she’s lonely. This opens her up to taking chances when she meets Dominic.I love water, rivers, and the ocean. They have their own very special atmosphere, and I wanted to flavor the story setting with the sounds, and smells of sun drenched harbor towns, wide rivers and boats, to provide contrast with the suspense element of the story.
When you read the story and Dominic sails away on vacation. Think Monterey or the marinas in the Caribbean or the Florida keys. The sky is Grecian blue, the air and water sparkles. There’s the smell of salt and sea, and wheel of seagulls as the couple walk on the quay together.

At thirty-two Dominic Carr thinks it’s time he met a girl he could love. He’s tired and jaded from his high power job, and hoping that this summer’s vacation will be refreshing. When he sees Michelle Vega in the art gallery of a harbor town he visits, her long legs in pink couture shorts grab his attention.
Michelle Vega has everything to hide except her beauty and her instant attraction to Dominic. She’s not on vacation as she visits the gallery—more like on business.
As the two of them fall into a hot romance, Dominic is sure Michelle could be ‘the one,’ but Michelle is filled with doubt when she considers how he might react to discovering her secrets.
When Michelle’s business takes a dangerous twist Dominic finds he’s pulled into a perilous situation. Will this be a test of his love or the finish of it?
Read an excerpt: Dominic sees Michelle for the first time
A sunbeam slanted through the skylight as if aiming for Dominic’s face. He opened his eyes and rolled away from the bright shaft of light. His head safely on the other side of the pillow, Dominic checked the time on his cell phone that lay on the bedside unit. The day looked beautiful through the cabin window as he sat up and swung his legs onto the floor. He pulled on a T-shirt over his boxers and padded into the galley to make coffee. Dominic went up on deck and took his cup of coffee with him. The clear, blue sky and the sun-dappled water brought a smile to his face. The marina around his berth was already full of life, and he sat to watch a fabulous motor yacht edge out of a berth and move majestically into deeper water. Hunger drove him to shower and dress. He had food in the fridge to cook, but Dominic knew there was a great café in this town next to an art gallery and he meant to visit both that morning.
Mellowed by the blueberry pancakes he’d eaten, the sun on his shoulders as he sat at one of the café’s outdoor tables lifted his spirits. Summer scented the air and Dominic took a deep breath. I needed this change. It feels as if I’ve suddenly entered the real world
His thoughts made him grin as he paid the bill, and left the café. The art gallery, a door down, was showing several local artists’ work and the traveling exhibition on loan from a private collector housed a number of Monet paintings Dominic wanted to see. He’d never thought about joining the art world himself, but Dominic liked to look. It gave him a sense of peace.
A poster on the revolving door proclaimed there was a small fee that week because of the Monets. The gallery had two floors. The rooms were long, stretching back in the deceptively spacious building, with padded benches placed at intervals for people to sit and absorb the art. Dominic donated at the plastic box attached to the screen midway down the first floor of the gallery designating the entrance to the special exhibition. He wanted to see that first.
Over an hour later, Dominic left the Monet exhibition, and wandered along to the top room of the art gallery. He saw the young woman the moment he reached the top of the stairs. She sat part way down the left hand side, on one of the blue benches. Dominic couldn’t tear his gaze away as he edged closer to where she sat. She wore a pale-pink suit jacket and her glossy hair fell down her back, almost to her waist. Her lightly tanned legs were bare and she wore bright pink, high-heeled pumps. Dominic couldn’t see a skirt. Intrigued, he stopped at the painting adjacent to the one she sat in front of, and cast a secret glance at her. Shorts, mmm, she’s beautiful. He passed behind the bench trying to ascertain if she wore a wedding ring. Luck gave him a perfect opportunity as she moved her hair from her face, giving him a delightful view of a naked wedding band finger and her lovely profile. Dominic’s heart raced. Surprise at his reaction to the young woman gripped him, and he walked rapidly across the width of the gallery to stand before an ocean scene and try to collect his swirling thoughts.

Halloween Give-a-way...Release day for Unbroken (Forgotten Rebels MC)

Way back in the stone ages (AKA: my twenties), my then-husband wanted a Harley.  He began growing a goatee and quizzing me on the differences between a Panhead, a Shovelhead, and an Evolution.  We bought a Harley Sportster and painted it cherry red.  I wore a helmet and jacket with red flames and he made the unfortunate mistake of wearing a head bandana with tomatoes on it.  Guess what his riding name became?
We had a local hillbilly bar that served free lunch on Sunday.  I’m talking corn beef and sauerkraut, fried chicken, or beef stew.  It was a weekly tradition with us and our little riding community.  One Sunday, as we’re sitting around enjoying free food and pitchers of beer, in walks a group of tatted up men and women, wearing denim vests.  My husband and his friends froze, leaned over to us and told us to get up and get the hell out of the bar. Quickly.
The Pagans had just walked in.
I didn’t know the Pagans from Adam and only later did I learn they were an outlaw biker gang, as notorious as the Hells Angels.  And little did I suspect that I would draw upon that experience as I decided to write motorcycle club romance.

Where did the inspiration for Unbroken come from?I loved the television show Stalkers, which unfortunately lasted only one season.  It always made me think about these stories you would hear in the news that always seemed like they were too unbelievable to be true, but somehow they really were, which is what made them terrifying.  I wondered what lengths I would do to stay safe from someone threatening, and thus, Piper was born.Tell us something about the novel that doesn’t appear on the blurb or the excerpt. The original name for this series was going to be Stalkers, because I wanted to create my own version of the show.  But after talking it over with my editor, we switched it to Forgotten Rebels MC, because I do plan for other stories in this world.   The next book will feature Wick and Abbott’s story.
Please share an excerpt from your book that totally spoke to you when you put the words down on paper.“Piper stared up at the tall walls, a virtual fortress behind concrete and barbed wire.  A small sign declaring the building was property of the Forgotten Rebels Motorcycle Club let her know she was at the right place.  She wasn’t sure if the people inside thought the zombie apocalypse was going to happen, but if she could get behind the fortification she knew she’d be safe.”…I think all of us, at one time or another, wants to feel safe. For Piper, her safe house is actually the club’s house, behind fortified walls that would keep out any and all bad guys.
What is the signature song for Unbroken? “Unbroken” by Demi Lovato.  The lyrics really defined who Piper was.
Locked up tight
Like I would never feel again
Stuck in some kind of love prison
And threw away the key, oh, oh
Terrified until I stared into your eyes
Made me start to realize
The possibilities

No need for me to run, run, run
You're making me believe in everything
No need to go and hide, hide, hide
Gonna give you every little piece of me

I'm gonna love you like I've never been broken
I'm gonna love you like I've never been broken

Excerpt:The afternoon flew by and she knew the men in the church had to be getting hungry, so she went into the kitchen and began organizing food into sandwiches.  It was something she’d done a hundred times before.  After the platter was finished, she sent a quick text to Wick.  He replied almost immediately that it was okay for her to enter with the food.            Picking up the platter, she carried it to the church door and one of the men let her in.  Wick smiled his appreciation when he saw the pile of food she’d made.  She quickly set it down and made a beeline for the door, knowing to get out as soon as possible.            “Wait,” came a deep voice.  “I thought I met all the club girls.”Piper halted and glanced over to the opposite end of the table.  Her gaze met a pair of eyes so green it made her think of emeralds.  They were framed with the type of dark lashes that women would kill to have.  His black hair flopped a little over his forehead and scruff outlined a strong jaw.   Next to his left eye was a small tattoo, a black diamond.  The man was big, muscular, and he stared at her like he wanted to devour her.  Butterflies swarmed through her belly and her mouth went dry.  She tried to wet her lips with her tongue but didn’t have enough saliva to do the job.  “She’s not club pussy, Kix,” Wick said evenly.  Kix flicked his gaze toward her brother.  “Is she your old lady?”Wick shook his head.  “My sister.”Kix visibly relaxed.  “I see.”  He looked at her once more.  “What’s your name?”“I’m Sissy,” Piper said.  “I take care of the house.”“Sissy,” he repeated, then frowned.  “That name doesn’t seem to suit you.”She cleared her throat.  “It’s what I’m called.”“And we’re all called something, aren’t we, sweetheart?”      The men of The White Death chuckled and Sissy pulled her gaze away from Kix to look at the newcomers.  Parky had been correct.  Each man was gorgeous, a far cry from the current Rebels stock.  The Brothers might be family, but some of them had a face only a mother could love.“Whose old lady are you?” Kix asked. She lifted her chin.  “I’m no one’s old lady.”He gave a wicked little grin.  “Good,” he murmured.
