Veil of Scars by J.R. Gray

Hello, thank you so much for having me!
Q) How did you dream up the dynamics of your characters?
This story is in first person, from the prospective of Steve, and he came to me when I was dealing with some rough feelings myself. I used all the negative energy and put them into the character to kind of get them off my chest. The rest of the story fell into place around what Steve was feeling.
Q) Do you have any habits that get you in the writing frame of mind?
I try to write every morning and I drink lots of tea. If I really need to get something out I go sit at Starbucks where they know me by name.
Q) Is this part of a series? If so, tell us about it!
No this is my first stand alone.
Q) How much real life do you put into or influences your books?
As I said before I put a lot of real life feelings into this one. I always take what I’m feeling and channel it into my books. It’s cheaper than therapy!
Q) If you could choose, which published author would you like to brainstorm with and why?
I would love to work with Tiffany Reisz because I love the way she writes damaged characters. I’m always drawn to characters in pain.
Q) What are your upcoming projects?
My next project will be the forth book in my bestselling Bound series. I’m really looking forward to sharing that with the fans. I also have a m/f Sci-fi in the works as well as a contemporary m/m piece involving a cop and a prostitute.
Thank you so much for having me on your blog!

A little bit about Veil of Scars:
Steven is tall, dark and damaged. He doesn't let anyone close, comfortable on the outside of normal life where he can hide his scars behind a wall so high that nothing gets through…except them. Despite a childhood marred with black and blue, he's survived and moved in with his two best friends, Sam and Charlie.
Life should get better, but it was Sam who held him when the dark threatened to swallow him whole, Sam who gave him a place that felt like home, and Sam who knew every scar and every broken place.
And it's all been taken away with Charlie sharing Sam's bed.
Without his former confront, Steven realizes what's been hiding in the deep corners of his heart, and the truth sinks him like a weight. He’s in love with one or maybe both of his roommates. Navigating unrequited love tears Steven apart and brings him to the precipice, and he has to choose: his feelings or Sam’s…and Charlie’s?

Here is a sneak peek from Veil of Scars:
Soon the music was going and party-goers were milling about in the low lights. There were drinks and bodies on every surface. I stood behind the bar, not minding making drinks for the guests since there was little else at the party that I wanted to do. The atmosphere mellowed as the liquor took effect, and Sam had long stopped trying to drag me out to dance. Instead, he’d taken up a spot on the couch with Char. Their mouths met, skin and lips, while their hands wandered, stroking and skimming over each other’s clothes as the party moved around them. I sat back, finding I was no longer needed as everyone was sated. The few remaining people had paired off in couples for the night, strewn over the furniture and floor. The base thumped, and bodies moved with it as if the alcohol had turned them into living recreations of the music. The door to Char and Sam's room slammed shut, closing off a guy and two adventurous women. Sam’s head snapped back at the sound, and he cursed under his breath. He glanced around then whispered to Char. She giggled and grabbed a throw off the back of the couch. An outsider where I sat, I seemed to have escaped notice as the only fairly sober party in the room. She pulled the blanket over herself and then moved the thin fabric over his lap. Soon Sam’s head flopped back into the cushion, and his mouth fell open in a soundless moan. Charlie's eyes blazed with mischief, and she grew more eager with every reaction from her boyfriend. His hand slid up her shoulder, curling around the back of her neck. My skin burned in the same place, a physical memory of the times he’d touched me the same way. He dragged his head off the back of the sofa and looked at her, his blue gaze pleading louder than any words could. The air buzzed with electricity from the pair of them. He licked over his lips, and the muscles in his arm tightened as he guided her head towards his lap. Charlie ducked under the blanket, and a flash of heat ran through me. Was she really going to go down on him in the middle of the party? I held my breath, transfixed as Sam lifted up his ass below where the blanket covered him to slide his pants down around his ankles, I guessed. He groaned, this time audibly, and the sound went right to my gut. I chewed on my lip ring unable to stop myself from staring. Charlie's head bobbed under the cover, and Sam's eyes rolled back in his head. Suddenly I was flushed and embarrassed. I was the voyeur, spying on my friends who were caught up in drunken passion. I tore my eyes away from his lap only to find his blue gaze locked on me.

About J.R. GrayWhen not staying up all night writing, J.R Gray can be found basking in the warm glow of the Miami sun, or at the gym where it's half assumed Gray is a permanent resident. A dominant, pilot, and sword fighting enthusiast, Gray finds it hard to be in the passenger seat of any car. Gray frequently interrupts real life, including normal sleep patterns, to jot down nonsense. The bane of Gray's existence are commas, and even though it's been fully acknowledged they are necessary, they continue to baffle and bewilder. If Gray wasn't writing...well, that's not possible. The build up of untold stories would haunt Gray into an early grave or possibly a mental institution where the tales would end up on the walls in crayon and finger paint.

Welcome Jaycee Edward!

Q) How did you dream up the dynamics of your characters?
A) I didn’t. They pretty much told me about themselves as I wrote. I remember reading that when other authors would say it and rolling my eyes, but it’s so true. Dragons started out as a whimsical little piece for an anthology dreamed up by friends on a crazy-silly Facebook post about sparking penises, if you can believe that. I started writing with a cute little story in mind but Joey had other ideas. Suddenly the story had turned into something much darker and much deeper. I kept fretting over how I’d ever fit the ‘sparkling penis’ requirement into it, but Joey assured me he had a plan for that too – and he did. He wove it in brilliantly. I take NO credit. The anthology itself fell through and I was left holding this moving little novella that really wanted to see the light of day. Thanks to Evernight Publishing for giving it the chance.
Q) If you could choose, which published author would you like to brainstorm with and why?
A) Tiffany Reisz. She is my idol. I had the pleasure of meeting her briefly at a signing and I just couldn’t get enough.
Q) What are your upcoming projects?
A) I’m working in bits and pieces on the story for my two homeless guys, Tommy & Shane. That’s just a difficult headspace to be in for any length of time. I’m also working with Helena Stone, my co-writer for Strangers In The Night on the sequel. Turns out Callum & Slade had a lot more to tell us. And, always getting shoved to the back burner is my novel. Someday I will get to quit working on all these novellas and get that puppy subbed.
BLURB
A chance encounter in a hospital waiting room between twenty-two year old Will Messina and sixteen year old Josiah Pinkerton ends with a gift of a stuffed dragon off the hospital gift cart and a memory neither of them can shake.
Five years later, when a lonely, buttoned-up Will ventures into a gay club, he spots a pale, leather-clad specter with violet eyes tracking his every move. Will realizes he’s being watched by the grown version of the boy who’s haunted his thoughts for years.
Joey recognizes Will, but he’s no longer the sweet, brown-eyed boy worthy of Will’s attention. He’s damaged and defective and lives in a different world than Will now. When his childhood crush makes his way across the bar, Joey doesn’t have time to decide whether to be enchanted or dismayed because, unless he turns and runs, those worlds are about to collide.
EXCERPT
Joey felt out of place in the posh, downtown steakhouse. He’d heard of Messina’s, of course, but he’d never been inside. Will, however, had to be a regular customer there, because everyone seemed to know him and they were quickly ushered - ahead of other customers, even - to a large booth at the back of the restaurant. The hostess - Will called her Trish - handed them heavy, leather-bound menus that felt more like a book. Joey had been aware of people gawking at him as they’d made their way across the dining room, his leather club clothes and assault boots completely out of place in the high-end dining room. After scooting into the booth, he glanced out from under his bangs. No one was paying him any attention. He was used to both reactions. He pretended to read the menu, but couldn’t help watching Will instead. Why would he bring him someplace nice like this? Someplace he’d have to explain - to people he knew - why he’d brought a freak to dinner?“You should be looking at the menu. The waiter will be here any second. You can stare at me all you want after we order.”The blood rushed to Joey’s face and he ducked behind the big menu. “I wasn’t staring,” he grumbled. Will laughed. “You mumble when you lie. Got it. See? Learned something new about you already.”He raised the menu higher so Will wouldn’t see him grin. The waiter came and they placed their orders. Will studied him and Joey fidgeted, feeling off-kilter and lightheaded. Maybe it was because he hadn’t had anything but Coke today and the smell of wood-fired meat was making his stomach growl.“Relax, Joey. You look like you’re waiting for a mob hit or something.”Joey slumped, but then immediately straightened and smoothed the tablecloth. “It’s just… this is a nicer place than I’m used to. It’s fancy. Everyone’s in suits.”Will looked around and shrugged. “It’s just a restaurant. No different than Steak N’ Shake. Just better decorating, different menu, lower lighting, and higher prices. I didn’t bring you here for any of that anyway. I brought you here because I know we’ll get a good meal and because I want to get to know you.”“Why?” The question was out before Joey could stop it. Will seemed surprised.“Because I like you?”“How do you know? If you don’t know me?” He had no clue why he was being such a dick. It was like his subconscious was trying to drive Will away, when, in truth, that’s the last thing he wanted to do.“Fair point, well played.”“Why would you bring me someplace like this?”“You don’t like it?”“No! I mean, yes! It’s… nice! It’s just, people know you here.”“So?”“Why wouldn’t you go somewhere no one knows you.”“What the hell difference does it make?” Will scrunched his face in confusion.“So you don’t have to, you know… explain.”“Explain what?”“Me,” Joey whispered and fidgeted with his place setting. Will reached across the table and took Joey’s hands in his. Joey looked up in shock, but Will’s expression was calm. The waiter came with their salads and Joey frantically tried to pull his hands out of Will’s, but Will didn’t release them until he absolutely had to, in order to make room for their plates. The waiter placed their salads and a basket of rolls wrapped in a linen napkin on the table and took a step back.“Can I get you anything else right now, Will?”“No, thank you, Trevor,” Will said and the waiter vanished. Will immediately turned his attention back to Joey. “Why in the hell would I have to explain you to anyone?”Seriously? He couldn’t be that clueless, could he? Was Will really going to make him spell it out? Joey huffed in frustration. “Look at you.” He waved a hand at Will before sweeping his arm in an arc that encompassed the entire room. “Look at everyone else in here - like you.” He looked at Will and tried not to shrink. “Now, look at me.”Will studied him for an uncomfortably long minute, never breaking eye contact. Then, to Joey’s shock, he leaned way out of the booth and eyeballed Joey’s entire length, his gaze raking slowly up and down. Will returned to a normal sitting position and leaned in, lowering his already deep voice.“Thanks for that little opportunity. I’ve been dying to check you out all night, but I wasn’t going to be quite that obvious about it.”A minute ago, Joey was blushing at his own self-consciousness, but when he met Will’s heated gaze, the blood rushed to his cock, making his inappropriate attire even more inappropriate. He squirmed in an effort to discretely adjust himself, but Will’s sultry smile told him it was no use.WHERE TO BUYEvernight Site: http://www.evernightpublishing.com/dragons-by-jaycee-edward/ Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Dragons-Romance-Go-Jaycee-Edward-ebook/dp/B00VTRNDUW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1429673651&sr=8-1&keywords=jaycee+edward REVIEWS"...Short, sweet and satisfying describes Dragons perfectly. Not the longest read; this gentle, emotionally affecting little tale packed a lot of heart and soul. Just Try blog Tour - Q & A with Lisa S. Robinson

Q) Do you have any habits that get you in the writing frame of mind?
No, not really. I got most of my ideas for Just Try while I was at the gym on the exercise bike.
Q) How much real life do you put into or influences your books?
I'm very much a people watcher so quite a lot of real life is in my books. Some of my characters are based around people in my life. But I found that the characters evolved in writing as the story grew. I want people to relate to my books so I try to make them as real as possible.
Q) If you could choose, which published author would you like to brainstorm with and why?
Dannika Dark just blows my mind, her books are like nothing I've read before. I would love to see where she gets her ideas from and how she writes. Major author crush on her!
Q) What are your upcoming projects?
I'm currently writing a paranormal romance that is hopefully going to be a series. Then I have a couple of things up my sleeve

Excerpt:My phone rings, startling me. When I look at the screen and see Calvin’s name, I find myself letting out a little girlie squeal.
“Hello, you,” I say, snuggling into my seat.
“So, I wake up from an amazing sleep, look out of my window, and guess what?” he asks in a croaky voice, which sounds like he has, indeed, just woken up.
“What?”
“I see this beautiful girl sitting in a chair in her garden, sipping on what I assume is coffee, and I feel the need to say morning to her.”
“Is that right?” I smile.
“Yup.”
A noise coming from the bottom of my garden startles me. When I see Calvin jump my back fence using one arm, still holding his phone in the other, I can’t believe my eyes. He smiles and briskly walks over to me. I’m stunned, the damn phone still attached to my ear. As soon as he reaches me, he bends down and plants a small kiss on my mouth. He then smiles and says, “Morning”, before turning and walking back to the fence to jump it again. I’m totally dumbstruck. Who does that? Calvin, that’s who. I laugh and shake my head, ending the call when I hear his chuckle.

Q & A with Donina Lynn!
Thank you so much for visiting Written Butterfly!
Thank you having me here today! I’m so excited to be sharing my new release Lose Control with you!
Myles and Cassie’s story isn't about wine and romance. Their journey is about finding love with someone who you not only click with personally, but physically as well.
Let’s be honest, when it comes to sex we all have our likes and dislikes, right? We have our preferences and what we’re willing to do. On the flipside, we also have that list in our heads of deal breakers that when mentioned make you want to run in the other direction because there’s NO WAY you’re giving that a try. Kink-meter has been officially been pegged, thank you very much.
Lose control is about finding that person you’re compatible and comfortable with. The one who has the same wants and desires, and is perfect for you both in and out of the bedroom. It’s about falling for someone who can love every part of who you are … even if some of those parts can be a bit naughty. ;-)
Q) How did you dream up the dynamics of your characters?
No dreaming here. Myles is based on a pleasant mix of a few ex-boyfriends and Cassie, well, I might have given her a smidgen of my stubbornness. J
Q) Do you have any habits that get you in the writing frame of mind?
Coffee and lots of it! In fact, I’m guzzling down a fresh cup of java right now. Ahhhhh…caffeine.
Q) How much real life do you put into or influences your books?
I think all authors take some inspiration from real events or people in their lives and put a bit of themselves in their books. I’m no different, and to be honest, I don’t consider myself to be creative. I don’t have one of those great imaginations that can dream up vivid worlds and complex characters. It’s on my bucket list to try to find one, though. But, until I do, I’m going to have to stick with writing about the things I know or the people I’ve met. I should probably warn my friends about that, huh?
BLURB:Myles Oliver Dayton likes control in every aspect of his life. He desires it, demands it in the board room and his bedroom. But when his teenage crush walks into his office to be his temporary assistant, the tight restraint he kept on his emotions starts to come undone. Something he couldn’t allow. His idea of love is demanding and possessive, and in the end there would only be pain—for both of them.
Cassie Sorrelson grabs onto opportunities when they come along and assisting Myles with all his demands is an opportunity she isn’t about to pass up. Sexy and controlling, he has her breathing hard and soon yearning for more than a few days together at the corporate retreat. When he suddenly pulls back, though, and refuses the desire she knows is running hot within him, Cassie is going to have to work at getting what she wants … making Myles lose control.
EXCERPT: Myles closed his eyes and took a long, steadying breath. Cassie begging him, pleading with him to take her was playing havoc with the restraint he prided himself in. He never lost control. In fact, he did what was necessary to make sure he never even came close. This sudden willingness to loosen the tight hold he held himself in check with was a temptation he shouldn’t even be considering. Taking another breath, he buried the feeling as quickly as it surfaced and leaned back to face her. “I haven’t begun to punish you. Turn around.”
When she turned, he placed his hand between her shoulder blades and gently pushed. “Bend over, hold on to the handles of the chair, and spread your legs.”
Myles clenched and unclenched his fists while he watched Cassie’s long hair cascade across her shoulders and fall around her face as the line of her back drifted lower and her firm ass rose. The picture she created before him—vulnerable, exposed, and so unbelievably fucking sexy—had him strung tight and ready to break. But when his eyes finally registered the thin piece of material that didn’t even come close to covering where the globes of her ass met, he felt himself snap.
She wore that to the beach? That wasn’t a bathing suit. The damn thing was barely a step above a thong, exposing every inch of soft, white skin on her perfectly rounded backside. Myles didn’t have to think hard to imagine the effect it would have on every man she sashayed past. Possessive jealousy rippled through him at the thought of other men drooling over her and being able to get a glimpse of what he was seeing right now. Mine. The word shouted in his head as a fierce need to stake his claim overtook him. It wasn’t about staying in control anymore. It was about him showing her she fucking belonged to him. And by the time he was done, she was going to know just that.
Myles hooked his finger under the flimsy piece of material and ripped it in two.
Cassie’s head flew around. “Hey. What the hell do you—”
A warning rumbled low in his chest, cutting off her words. “What am I doing, Cassie? Is that what you want to know? You disobeyed me. What do you think is going to happen next?” Myles placed himself at an angle, wrapping one arm around her abdomen to support and keep her still as his other hand came to rest on her ass. “You’re going to remember who commands this body. I’m going to fucking make sure of it.”
Wide, shocked eyes looked back at him. “You wouldn’t.”
“I would and will.”

Rebecca Brochu Visits Today!
Hello! Thank you so much for visiting Written Butterfly with me today!
Q) Do you have any habits that get you in the writing frame of mind?
I do my best work in the late night/early morning hours so I like to have good music, green tea, and popcorn on hand if I’m going to be doing some writing.
Q) Is this part of a series? If so, tell us about it!
Yes it is! Grayscale is the first book in my newest series entitled Spectrum. The series is going to, for the most part, focus on the agent/handler type of dynamic and will delve into the unique type of relationship these couple develop between them as they hunt for the bigger threat that is revealed in Grayscale.
Q) What are your upcoming projects?
Oh my upcoming projects would have to be finishing up the 3rdbook for my Wolves of Flathead series and a few other single projects I’ve had on the backburner.

Spectrum, 1As a Chroma agent, one of the elite operatives for the Spectrum Intelligence Agency, Jonah Gray was skilled enough to handle most anything that came his way. If not, Jonah knew he could always rely on his handler, the clever Mr. Fox, to pull him through. Drawn to the seductive voice and commanding strength of the man on the other end of the line, Jonah wavers between his attraction to his handler and the knowledge that handlers and operatives are never supposed to meet.
Then a mission goes horribly wrong and Jonah finds himself on the wrong end of a kill order. With Jonah on the run, both handler and operative are desperate to finally meet so they can face this new threat head on. Together they struggle to discover who wants Jonah dead while they finally take the opportunity to embrace the passion that has always simmered between them.EXCERPT“Are your eyes closed?” Silas asked him quieter than before, softer and gentler.“Yes Sir.” Jonah felt vulnerable in that moment, in a way he thought he’d left behind a long time ago. To distract himself a bit he let his hands come down to rest on his stomach, let his fingers slide gently over the skin there, but no lower. He didn’t have permission for that yet, after all.“I’ve got you,” Silas promised almost as if he could tell what Jonah was feeling without even being able to see him. “You’re safe with me remember? You can relax and trust me Jonah. You can trust me to keep you safe, to tell you what to do. You can trust me with all of that. With all of you.” “I know. I do.” Jonah fought back the swell of emotions in his chest as the mixture of devotion and affection that he always felt towards Silas threatened to burst free. Slowly, deliberately, he inhaled again. Exhaled. Inhaled, exhaled, repeated it until he felt himself even out, felt himself center.“Good.” Silas said it roughly, voice ragged in a way that let Jonah know just how much his admittance meant to Silas. “I wish I could see you right now. You’re gorgeous Jonah, you know that don’t you? I bet you’re beautiful the way you are right now, laid back on that bed with your eyes closed, cock hard and body open. I bet you’re perfect. I’ve always thought you would be. Ever since the first time I saw you.”Jonah’s eyes flew open in stunned surprise before he slammed them shut again. Silas’s voice was ragged but honest, deep and thick with that hot, honey drawl that Jonah loved so much.“You’ve seen me?” The thought that Silas had seen him, knew what he looked like, and so obviously approved, made Jonah feel slightly giddy with a mixture of pride and relief.“Oh yes.” Silas sounded amused for a moment then. “I’ve seen you many times Jonah. I am your handler after all. I’ve read your file, seen videos. Sometimes I watch you on the security cameras on missions. You’re a thing of beauty, Jonah. All lethal grace and power that draws the eye. Even when you’re off mission, even when you’re wandering around whatever city or town you decide to spend your time in, you’re still fascinating. Captivating.”“And do I?” Jonah couldn’t help but ask. He needed to know, burned to know for certain whether or not the fascination he felt was mutual. “Do I captivate you?”“Completely,” Silas admitted quietly and with that sort of brutal honesty in his voice that Jonah adored.WHERE TO BUY

Desire Unexpected by S.J. Maylee + Giveaway!!!!
Hello! Thank you so much for visiting Written Butterfly with me today!
Thank you so much for having me today!
Q) How did you dream up the dynamics of your characters?
I was looking to explore the theory of how opposites attract or rather the appearance of opposites. Ethan and Nadia appear to have nothing in common at first glance. As they spend more time with each other, they find more and more to pull them together. I found this dynamic fascinating.
Q) Do you have any habits that get you in the writing frame of mind?
Most definitely. I must have coffee and music. These two help me to settle in and block out all the noise around me. When I’m focused, it’s much easier for me to see my characters and write their story.
Q) Is this part of a series? If so, tell us about it!
It is. Desire Unexpected is the first in my Assassins and Sweethearts Series. The day I started to write the first scene for Desire Unexpected, I also wrote three other scenes and each had a different hero. In a flash, I could see the whole series play out. Each book will follow a different assassin on his path to finding his sweetheart.
Q) What are your upcoming projects?
Next to release will be the third book in my Love Projects series. I’m quite excited about this story. It’s a redemption story, enemies to lovers, and I love how it all came together. Right now, I’m writing the next book in my Club Blind Series and then I’ll finish the second story in the Assassins and Sweethearts Series. I hope to have both out this fall.
BLURB:
Life is passing Nadia Duskin by from her position in the mailroom. It only fulfills two necessities, keeping the repo man away and keeping her up to date on her sexy CEO. Ethan Wright is prepared to frighten and fire the nosey girl who sorts his company’s mail. After engaging with her at one of his favorite places in the world, he digs deeper.
Together, they find the kind of pleasure that could keep them satisfied for a lifetime. Her love may be the key to putting both of their lives back on track, but to what end? When a man he’s been contracted to kill threatens Nadia’s life, he forces her to face reality. Either they’ll delve deeper into the desires neither expected or they may die trying.

“It reminded me of you.” He shook his head. “It’s just from the museum gift shop. I wanted to give you something for putting up with me. I hope you like it.”“Thank you.” She took the little box and sat on her battered sofa. “Please, take a seat.”He sat next to her, but kept to the edge, confirming there was nothing relaxed about this visit. After slipping the green ribbon from the box, she pulled off the lid and pushed back the tissue paper, revealing the item she’d so long desired. Her heart raced and she scooted closer to him. He had no idea what he’d done. Her secret crush giving her the piece of jewelry she’d long desired was incredibly perfect. Neither were really her style and she wanted them all the same. She looked at him with heavy tears stinging her eyes. Brushing the box from her lap, she slipped the bracelet onto her wrist.“Thank you.”“You’re welcome. I’ve enjoyed our time together.” He brushed away the tear that had rolled down her cheek and cupped her chin.“Don’t say that like it’s over.” She took a hold of his wrist and pulled it into her lap. “It’s not, right?” Panic raced over her. If he wanted to leave, she wouldn’t stop him, but her whole body hurt with wanting him to stay.“I’m no good for you, Nadia.” He took hold of her hands. “You deserve a nice man with an uncomplicated life. I can’t give you what you need.”“That’s not true.” She put her fingers to his lips. “Don’t.”He took a hold of her shirt, not pulling her closer, just squeezing the fabric in his fist.“I don’t know what’s going on with you.” She brought her touch back to his hands, trying to ease the pressure. “I just know the only time I feel alive is when I’m with you. You’re on my mind constantly.” She lowered her gaze, losing her courage by the second. “There’s something between us and I want to explore it. I want to know what drives you insane with need. Don’t you want me too?”“Shit, Nadia, I haven’t stopped thinking about you since the first day at the windows.” He let her go and pulled out of her reach to slip around to the other side of the couch with his back to her. “I want things from you that I’m certain would frighten you.”“I doubt that.” Knowing she had to make her move now or risk losing him forever, she pulled her shirt over her head and tugged off her sweatpants, tossing them both on the chair. “Do you remember the questions I asked about you before we met?”“You’re playing with fire.”“No, I’m not into fire play, but I have a feeling you know what I need.”“What …” He turned, his gaze swept over her body and he brushed his hand over his mouth. “You take my breath away.” He stepped toward her, adjusting the bulge in his pants. “You think you want to play?”“I do.” She sucked on her lip, wishing she’d worn her one set of matching bra and panties.“Fuck, I want this” He brushed her skin ever so slightly up her arms, across her chest, and down between her breasts. “I’ve had dreams about this moment.” He raised her chin, forcing her to look at him. He dragged his fingers through her hair and tugged the length of it back. “I want you at my mercy. Do you have any idea what it’s like to give someone like me control?”“Yes, sir.” She arched her back, revealing her neck. He kept pulling and tingles of pain danced along her scalp. “Please.”“Are you already asking for mercy?” He tugged her hair again “I don’t think you know what you’re starting.”“I don’t want you to stop. I want more, sir.” Her breasts pushed against his chest and her grip on his arms tightened. “I want to know.”

Welcome Kacey Hammell!

Hello! Thank you so much for visiting Written Butterfly with me today!
Thanks for having me here today, Beth! And congrats on your current release as well!
Q) Do you have any habits that get you in the writing frame of mind?Music. I love being inspired by music. In fact, Guarding Midnight came to life within a few days of driving and listening to Nickelback in my car as I drive my kids all over the city! Their song, Midnight Queen was a huge inspiration for the story, and while the story evolved a lot, the foundation is there from the song. Read the Lyrics
For me, I need days of envisioning a story before I will start writing it. I need it to play across my mind like a movie, or movie stills. I don’t usually plot the stories, and wait for images/scenes to follow me for a few days, and then start writing bits of dialogue, full scenes, character traits and such, then put it all together when I’m ready to sit and write the whole thing. And I need sound in the background in order to write. I can’t have complete silence.
Q) Is this part of a series? If so, tell us about it!Yes it is! Guarding Midnight is the first of the “Canadian Muscle” Series. In books 2 and 3, we’ll revisit characters we meet in book 1, and the foundation is laid for their own stories. Set in Canada, these hunky “muscle” men are hell bent on one thing … protecting what they desire most. Gavin really cemented himself as my favorite hero to-date, and his pals from Guarding Midnight are coming in strong second and third!* g*
Q) How much real life do you put into or influences your books?I have a story out now that is based very much on real life events. It wasn’t a planned project but the heroine it is told about, I felt a need that her story had to be told. I also like to use friends’ first names, or nicknames in my stories. Sometimes I’ll pull from headline news stories, and also listing actual places in my locations (ie: bars, streets)
Q) If you could choose, which published author would you like to brainstorm with and why?Nora Roberts/JD Robb. She’s a legend in this business, her knowledge of it would be wonderful to discuss. Plus how she continually keeps ideas fresh and vivid, especially in the large number of authors/stories being released these days, would be some info I would love to know.

Blurb: Canadian Muscle … When Desires Need Protecting.
No one knows sacrifice better than former Army Sergeant Gavin Bennett. He’s witnessed firsthand the emotional, physical and mental toll of being caught in the crossfire. Being a bouncer-slash-bodyguard may not be Gavin’s dream job, but he’s willing to do just about anything to help out family. When Gavin reports for his first day of work, he quickly discovers a woman who threatens to crack his legendary cool.
Shree Walker is on the run from a dark past she tried to shut away. Battered and broken, a happily ever after doesn’t exist for her. Ready to start fresh with a new life in a new city, she is happy dancing at the Vixen Club. She’d be even happier without the presence of the prickly new bouncer who won’t let anyone or anything get past his carefully guarded defenses. He’s a distraction she doesn’t need. And a temptation she can’t resist.
When Shree is kidnapped by the criminal mastermind hell-bent on taking the club at any cost, Gavin has to make a decision. Hold tight and continue to keep Shree at arm’s length. Or break down his walls and take a chance on something more powerful than them both: Love.

“You women are so pigheaded.” He inched a step closer. “You never know when to shut up and just listen. I’m trying to take care of all of you here.”“Then go tell some of the other girls. You’ve given me my orders. Fine. You’re done. We’re done.” Chin up, Shree turned away.He grabbed her arm, startling her. She spun back, legs unsteady, and reached out blindly as she began to fall. The world spun around her, and she braced to hit the floor.Warmth wrapped her waist, and then darkness smashed into her.A deep groan brought her back. Scanning the room, the realization hit her. She was atop Gavin. She gasped. His strong body had broken her fall, though she’d probably end up with some bruises. He gazed at her with his beautiful cognac eyes.Getting involved with him would be a very bad idea. She had to study, work hard to finish school and get away from clubs for good. She searched his gaze, searching for what she didn’t know. Maybe some sign that her heart wouldn’t be bruised after he was done with it.“Shree.” Jesus. Her name rolled off his lips almost like a growl. The rasp put her body into overdrive. Her pussy clenched and pricks of electricity tingled along her back. This man wasn’t right for her. She was going to get hurt. Deep in her gut, she knew it. And she always listened to her gut. Always. Not this time. No, she couldn’t—wouldn’t—miss out on taking what she could. For herself. To forget school, the job, and the past, she’d jump in with both feet and screw what might happen. She captured his mouth with hers. A deep moan of delight escaped her.His palms skimmed up her back, his mouth opening wide and allowing her entrance into the deep recesses of him. Stale coffee and mint coated her tongue. Her palms skimmed over his bald head, caressing with her fingertips, acquainting herself with the feel of him. She lingered at each bump and scar, over his ears to his cheekbones.Never before had she tasted anything as delicious or been so engrossed in the textures of a man’s roughened skin before. Tight, tough skin that was from hard living, rough times, and that of a man’s man. He was glorious. An Alpha man who was allowing his woman to take the lead.No. No, dammit, not his woman.Shree pushed the annoying voice aside and pulled back. Staring at him, his eyes blazed with desire…no, there would be no going back now. For now, in this moment, she would be his woman. He could brand her, claim her as his, but only this once. And she’d walk away knowing the decision was all hers.Sitting up, astride his hips, she held his gaze and tossed the towel from around her neck aside. Her palms skimmed over his chest. The blue button-down shirt he wore did little to hide the feel of his tight muscles. His warm palms sat on her thighs, as if waiting for her permission to touch. She leered at him, certain he was anxious to take over, loving the feel of tension in his arms and pecs as he held himself in check. How he understood that she needed this, she didn’t know. Nor did she care.Silence filled the small room as she opened the buttons of his shirt to the waist. There was a heaven, and she was looking at it. Naked golden skin and tight ridges took her breath away. He worked hard to stay in this shape. Who was she not to admire it?“Keep looking at me like that and I’ll have you under me in five seconds.” His gravelly voice cut through her thoughts.Empowered by the passion in his eyes, she grinned at him then shrugged. “Nothing wrong with that, but I like to be on top.” She shifted on his hips, her breath catching as she felt his hard shaft against her ass.Oh yes, this man had been blessed very well. His length pushed against her, and fire spread from her pussy straight to her toes. Her nipples pebbled tight, aching and throbbing. Her body rocked against his, friction from his jeans and the spandex covering her was delicious. It was crazy to be so into a man like Gavin so soon after meeting him. But her body led the way. It wanted the connection to him, needed to feel him inside and around her. These tumultuous emotions were foreign to her.“Shree.”“Shh, just hush,” she whispered, shifting her hips against his. She shoved the hem of her bra up over her breasts.“Fuck, you’re gorgeous.” A growl erupted from his throat.Gaze locked on his, she lifted his hands and pressed them against her aching nipples. She gasped. The heat of his touch swirled through her body. Shifting her hips down, her pussy lips cradled his shaft through their clothes.Delirious. Out of control. Her mind spun with images of how she wanted to ride him. The powerful friction from their clothing and his skin set her on fire. Adrenaline rushed through her, wanting him, and to satisfy the hunger racing over her.Desperation this strong had never hit her so hard. Her hands went to his belt, unbuckling it, and drew it apart. He stilled her movements. “Are you sure?”Shree withdrew from under his hold, yanked open the button, and parted the zipper. “Going to back out on me?” she challenged, fearing he’d leave her needy. He chuckled. It was light and relaxed to her. “Not bloody likely.” His fingers pushed beneath the leg of her shorts, pulling it all into each hand.Frowning, she gaped at him. “What are you do—” She screamed, body jerking as he pulled her shorts apart. Staring at the mess of spandex he held, her jaw dropped. It was like sitting atop the Incredible Hulk whose strength was feared while admired. The garment lay in tatters, the waistband the only thing keeping the material around her. Gavin tossed the bits that remained in his palms over his head. His touch eased over her bare mound, reawakening the arousal coursing through her. Thankful she hadn’t worn any underwear, she lifted a bit, allowing his fingers to slide between their bodies and find her clit.Giving herself up to his touch, she sucked in a deep breath and tilted her head back.Moisture coated her channel, filling her, making it easier for him to glide his fingers back and forth. Electric currents of heat surrounded her clit and her pussy tightened. Two digits slipped inside her, and the breath rushed out of her. His guttural moan cut through the air.Her eyelids lifted. She needed to regain control. It was best for her to lead this brief interlude, and remind herself just how strong she could be, realize how much she could still love her body and the needs that couldn’t always be denied.Adjusting up on her knees, she pushed his touch away. She lowered his jeans and underwear to the floor and off his feet. The gorgeous sight of his hard cock caught her breath and saliva filled her mouth. She’d never given a man head before, and didn’t know if she could ever bring herself to do so, but in this moment, having him inside her cunt was way more important than anything.

Sabrina Paige Cover Reveal
Blurb:Gaige O’Neal is nicknamed “Tool” because of what he’s packing. Rumor is that he’s well equipped.
He’s a cocky, entitled, insufferable a**hole who’s as reckless with women as he is with that stupid motorcycle he races.
It's been four years since I've seen him. Four years ago, he was the bane of my existence. And my best friend, my biggest confidant, my first love.
My stepbrother.
It’s just my f**ing luck that the first time I see him in four years, he’s buried beneath three scantily clad blondes.
Now I’m stuck here under the same roof with him while he recovers from a racing injury. An injury that clearly hasn’t affected the use of his tool.
The problem is, as much as I despise him, I just can’t help myself. I want to find out what kind of tool he's working with.

Excerpt:
Delaney doesn't take her eyes off mine, and I watch as something changes in her expression. A look of resolve, I think. She reaches inside my pants and wraps her hand around my cock. "Then what do you want?" she asks. Her voice is low, breathy, and she looks up at me, her eyes wide."I want whatever the hell makes you keep doing what you're doing," I say as she slides her hand up my shaft, her touch light as a feather. When she reaches the tip, she stops, her thumb rolling over the surface of the head, finding the tiny drop of pre-cum that beads at the tip."I don't know what I'm doing, Gaige" she whispers. "I don't know what we're doing.""You're always too much in your head, darlin'," I say, kicking off my shoes and sliding my jeans down over my ass. "So just stop thinking. Take off those fucking clothes before I tear them off you."Delaney's eyes get big again. "Do you just order women around like that?" she asks. "Is that your thing?""My thing? Fuck. I'm naked and you're still standing there talking," I say. "I will rip your clothes off. Try me. It's not an idle threat.""So girls just do what you tell them to do?" she asks. But both of her hands are on the hem of that silky-as-hell shirt of hers, paused as if she's deciding whether or not to strip. I'm going to make that decision real fucking easy, because I'm not playing any more."Stop talking," I say, my hand on the base of my cock. "Take. Off. Your. Goddamn. Clothes. Now." I punctuate each word for emphasis, and I swear to all that is holy, I am very close to tearing open her clothes like a wild animal. I've waited long enough for her. Four years. Four years and three months. Four years and three months and nine days.Delaney starts to lift her shirt, but she's too slow, and I reach for the material, yanking it over her head in one swoop. Her hair spills down her shoulders, strands tumbling down her breasts. Taking a handful of hair at the nape of her neck, I yank her roughly against my hardness. When she moans, it's almost my undoing.I kiss her, and it's nothing like the other times I've put my lips against hers. All of those kisses were just a prelude to this. This is the real deal. That rush I get when I'm racing is like nothing compared to my tongue in Delaney's mouth, my hand cupping her breast and feeling her melt against me. It sends adrenaline coursing through my veins, the rush of arousal better than any other high in the world.Delaney gasps when I finally take my mouth off hers. "Hell, Gaige," she whispers, putting her fingers to her lips."Shit, you ain't seen nothing yet, darlin'," I tell her. It's part promise and part warning. I'm not sure what this girl is going to do to me. I think she might fucking destroy me.

Wren Michaels Returns with Bad Apple!
Hello! Thank you so much for returning to Written Butterfly! I love this new cover!
Q) How did you dream up the dynamics of your characters?
Well, I had the original fairytale, Snow White & Rose Red to go by. But I like to write strong heroines so I shook things up a bit. I don't like damsels in distress, I like to write damsels that cause distress.
Q) Do you have any habits that get you in the writing frame of mind?
Music is my main resource that inspires me. Pinterest also helps with storyboarding and filtering in descriptions of people and places.
Q) Is this part of a series? If so, tell us about it! It is indeed!
BAD APPLE is book two in my SnowRose Series, part of Evernight Publishing's Naughty Fairytale line. Book one is called UNBEARABLE and was Rose Red's story. BAD APPLE, as you can probably guess, is Snow White's.
Thanks for having me on your blog today to announce that book two in the SnowRose Series is live! And it's an Editor's Pick!

Snow White has always been just that, white as snow. Pure. She's lead a domestic life in the shadow of her outspoken and voluptuous sister, Rose Red. With Rose now marrying Prince Marcus, Snow fears she'll be left with an empty heart and empty cottage.
One night, Snow gives in to her desires, but is caught by Marcus' brother, Prince Darien, as he witnesses her indiscretion. Together they tap into a part of Snow long buried.
But Queen Miriam, once betrayed by Snow's mother, sees the same thing happening again--this time with her son, Darien. EXCERPT:She spins from my arms and drops her chemise to her ankles. Turning her head, long raven locks drape her bare shoulder as she glances back at me. I stare at her naked flesh. Last night in the tunnel darkness shrouded us. Now, in the bright morning light, I see her for the first time.
Her gorgeous hair stops right before her rounded hips. She clings to the oak bed post and eases herself around. The pink of her breasts stare back at me. I swallow hard over the lump wedged at the back of my throat, blocking my words. My gaze traverses the length of her, stopping on the beautiful patch of hair between her legs. All the air in my lungs lunges out of me in a gasp.
“Why are you still clothed?” She tilts her head as a coy smile weaves over her lips.
“Because I cannot take my eyes off of you. Words fail me. They would do no good anyway. There are none to describe you, Snow. Gorgeous. Stunning. Beautiful. They pale in comparison to how my eyes see you. How my heart feels for you. But perhaps with actions, I can show you.” I rush her and sweep her into my arms, squashing her breasts against me.
Crushing my lips over hers, I sweep her mouth, telling her things with my tongue that I cannot say. Soft moans fill our kiss, and my feisty Snow works hard to get me out of my clothes. Hating to unlock our lips, I step back to undo the last of my trousers.
“I finally get to see all of you, too.” She stalks around me like a tiger eyeing its prey. “I like this part best.” She drags a finger the length of my cock, which stands at attention waiting to pleasure her. “But, I also like this part.” Her hands palm the width of my torso. I fight back a smile itching to curl over my lips at her little game. “I really like these.” Gripping my hands, she pulls my fingertips to her lips and kisses each one. “They do so many good things to me.” She makes one final walk around me. “But I like this part most of all.” Pressing her lips to my chest, she kisses my heart. It fills with sadness and love at the same time. The lump returns to my throat as I fight back choking emotions attacking my head and heart.
“What about my lips?” I ask, forcing a smile over the ache in my heart.
“They are not part of you. They are part of me. They breathe life into me. They feed me words that can never be spoken.” She runs her hand up my chest before cupping my cheek. “They unlock true love's kiss.”I ease her backward onto the bed and hover over her body. Leaning forward, I brush my mouth against hers. Hard nipples graze my chest, sending a lightning bolt of arousal to my cock resting against her hips.
“These lips can do so much more.” I look deep into her eyes that swallow me whole.
“How so?” she whispers.
“Like this,” I say, before kissing my way down her body. Spreading her stunning thighs apart, I ease my face between them.
“Darien?” she cries out. “What are you doing?”
“Speaking to you in another language.” I pry open her lower lips with my fingers and swipe the length of her pussy with my tongue.

Welcome Emma Anderson!
Hello! Thank you so much for visiting Written Butterfly with me today!
Q) How did you dream up the dynamics of your characters?
My characters, as well as my story introductions come to me in a dream. Now generally I never remember my dreams, except when they are the perfect beginnings to a story. In university, I always had trouble writing the introduction to any of my essays. I think my dreams are my consciousness’s way of overcoming that problem.
Q) Do you have any habits that get you in the writing frame of mind?
Not really. But there is one thing I can’t do while I’m writing a book, and that’s read someone else’s books. Hence the reason I have barely read anything of late. As soon as I finish one book, another book is already forming in my mind, compliments of a dream. Q) Is this part of a series? If so, tell us about it!
This is the first book in my first ever series. It’s loosely based around the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Devil, aka Death, is the vampire from this book. Then there’s a fae named Viper (Conquest), a mountain lion named Judge (War) and finally a warlock named Chaos (Famine). Each of these men are ruthless. They are unforgiving when wronged and never fail to obtain that which they desire. Enter their mates, to mess up their organized lives.
Q) If you could choose, which published author would you like to brainstorm with and why?
Bellann Summers and Honor James are my two brainstorm buddies. They give me a kick in the butt when I need it, and other times, guidance when I can’t get something straight in my head.
A little about myself
One day my prince charming came along. He just took a wrong turn, got lost, and was too stubborn to ask for directions. Well that was how my first date ended up with a special man, who is now my husband. Yes, you read correctly, I married him and haven’t regretted a minute. Thirteen years later, I have two wonderful boys (three if you include hubby, which I often do) and I’m following my dreams of writing romance books with HEAs, thanks to my supportive family.
I started writing several years ago. Mainly children’s books for my boys. Those will probably never get published. Then to quote Martin Luther King, “I had a dream!” As a rule I never remember my dreams, but this one I did, and I wrote it down. And the rest as they say is history. I currently have five books published and another due out in the next couple of weeks. At this stage they are all paranormal. What can I say? I love the big predatory mythological creatures so to offer them their own happy ever after was the least I can do.

Blurb Devil Torments is a vampire living in a world where one man’s weakness paves the way for another man’s gain. When a gambling addict offers his daughter as payment for his debt, Devil accepts. Sex without strings is exactly the way he likes it. Love is a concept for fools, the ultimate weakness. Little does he know, he’s about to meet his mate…
In order to protect her best friend, nurse Gabby Winters must bow to her abusive father’s demands and offer her innocence to a stranger. She never expected to feel anything, let alone find herself irrevocably tied to the man. But can Gabby learn to accept that Devil’s scars run deep, and the love she’s spent her life secretly yearning for is forever out of reach?
If Devil thought that keeping Gabby at arm’s length would keep either of them safe, he was dead wrong. When danger lands at Gabby’s feet, it’s up to Devil to pick up the pieces. Will he come to realize that love isn’t a weakness and Gabby is his greatest strength, before it’s too late? Or will he lose the most precious gift of all?

Excerpt “What the fuck!” Devil shouted once the woman had left the office. To say he was furious would have been an understatement. Murderous thoughts ran wild through his mind.
“Who the hell told you she was a call girl?”
“I’ll give you one guess.”
“That asshole Harrison.”
Devil picked up the photo Jeffrey Harrison had given him. Only this time, his eyes saw something they had failed to earlier. The picture depicted the same woman from tonight minus the makeup. Her beauty and innocence shone through. How could he have missed it?
His murderous thoughts changed slightly. Instead of just killing Jeffrey Harrison, he planned on torturing the asshole first. What kind of father would sell their innocent daughter to pay off his gambling debts? No matter what sins he had committed, and the list was long, Devil knew that he would never contemplate such a thing. Yes, Jeffrey Harrison would pay for his crimes, and Devil would be the judge, jury, and executioner.
Though Devil had to concede that Jeffrey Harrison wasn’t the only one responsible for what had happened tonight. Devil had been just as responsible. He had been so wound up lately, that he hadn’t taken the time to appreciate this beautiful woman for what she was. Had he done so, he no doubt would have recognized the signs of inexperience and sent her away before he ruined her. Or at least recognized what she wasn’t, a call girl. He too needed to make amends, only it was for his stupidity and impatience.
As soon as he had seen the woman, he had become hard. It had been a long time since his cock had appreciated a woman so instantly. Her curves were on display in that tight little dress she wore. He’d dragged her into his hotel room, desperate to hide her amazing body from passersby. He wanted to be the only one to view such a delicious sight. She reminded him of the women from his youth. They enjoyed their food too much to worry about what they looked like. He rued the day that body image became an important factor in a woman’s life. Now, the first woman to pique his interest in a long time, and look at the way he had treated her. It was an error he would make amends for, but first he needed more information.
“I say you get that fucker on the phone and let’s hear what he has to say for himself,” Viper said, his fae yellow eyes coming to the forefront, highlighting what his body language failed to. He was pissed. He was known as Viper because he struck his prey hard and fast; they never knew what hit them until it was too late.
Devil followed Viper’s advice, and a few seconds later a ringing tone could be heard through the phone’s speaker.
“Hello,” came the wary greeting.
“Harrison.”
“Um, yes, Mr. Torments. Was there a problem with Gabriella?” The man’s question had Devil emitting a low, menacing growl.
“Yes there’s a problem. She’s not a call girl like you insinuated.”
“Um, yes, well,” the man muttered down the phone.
“What did you tell her to get her here?” Devil demanded.
“The truth! It’s not like she’s innocent,” the man scoffed.
“What the hell did she ever do to you to gain such disregard?” Devil asked, furious at this man’s attitude toward Gabriella.
“She existed,” the man replied with venom in his voice. “Do you have any idea how difficult she made my life once my wife found out about her? Her presence all but killed my wife.”
Hearing enough of this man’s viciousness, Devil stated, in a voice that left no room for argument, “Tell me everything you know about her! Then you will stay out of her life. You will have to clear your debt with us without using your daughter any further. Do I make myself understood?”
The truth was, the money meant very little to him at the moment. Revenge was the only course of action in Devil’s mind. By the end of the phone call, he had this guy’s slow death all planned out. But first he needed to make things right with Gabriella. She deserved nothing less, and so much more.
