Heather Hambel Curley Visits with her NEW BOOK!

Q) Do you have any habits that get you in the writing frame of mind?
Loud music and rainy days! I have a play list simply titled “writing” that has everything from Swedish death metal to One Direction that I play to get me into the mood to write. I search Pinterest for pictures related to whatever piece I’m working on and pin them to an inspiration board. For me, both visual and auditory prompts help me get in the mood to write. And, in the end, a gloomy, rainy day is the perfect time to settle down and be creative!
Q) Is this part of a series? If so, tell us about it!
Yes! The Lazarus Society is going to be (at least) a trilogy following archeological digs/ghost encounters that Madison works. They won’t be limited to the American Civil War, but will branch out into other areas and time periods. I’m writing them as a series, but since they will be about vastly different areas, they would work as standalones as well.
Q) How much real life do you put into or influences your books?
Real life always influences my writing. In With Me Now, I based a lot of Liam’s quirks and manner of speech on the guy who sat on the other side of my work cube wall. The Lazarus Society series is about archeologists and, in reality, I’ve only spent about two days out of my life volunteering on an archeological dig. Those two days, though, inspired my book!
I don’t think you should limit yourself to only “writing what you know” but I use what I know, what I’ve experienced, and even the way I talk, into my writing. The rest I just research until my fingers go numb!
Q) What are your upcoming projects?
I am working on the sequel for With Me Now and another paranormal/murder mystery. My upcoming release is a historical fiction titled Anything You Ask of Me about the American Civil War. It will be released on August 4, 2015 as a hardcover and an ebook.
More About Heather...
1. Are you a pantser or a plotter? I’m definitely a pantser. I can probably count on one hand (with fingers left over) the amount of times I’ve plotted out my books. I think it reminds me too much of forced outline writing in college! I like to just sit down with music and write until I stop. Or fall asleep (FYI: kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk does not count as novel writing, haha).2. What authors have inspired you to write? I am inspired by the passion and commitment of JK Rowling and her ability to create entire worlds with their own laws, rules, games, and forces or good an evil. Robert A. Heinlein inspires me with the foresight and creativity he showed science fiction in 1950s and 1960s. And, of course, George R.R. Martin inspires me with this spunk, sass, and commitment to writing the way he wants to write.3. How important are names to you in your book? For me, naming a character is like naming a child. You’re going to be with this person for the entirety of your book/series. Try going outside and yelling the character name over and over again. If you don’t get sick of it, that’s the name you should go with. This is also how my husband and I named our second child.4. Is there a certain type of scene that’s hard for you to write? I’m bad with sex scenes. For the sex scene in the first historical novel I wrote, I couldn’t even bring myself to look at the screen while I typed. 5. What is With Me Now about? With Me Now is about Madison Monroe, a college student on her first archeological dig. She’s working in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, and finds something buried on the battlefield she didn’t expect to find.6. How much research did you do? I’ve been Civil War reenacting since 2001 and met my husband at Gettysburg, so I’m very familiar with every nook and cranny of the battlefield. In 2004, my husband and I were volunteers at Harpers Ferry National Historical Park in the living history department. For approximately two days, I worked on an archeological dig and, from that, this novel was born. Most of the research I did was archeological terminology and techniques of speaking/interacting with ghosts.7. What writing advice do you have for aspiring authors? Never quit. It’s too easy to get frustrated: with writing, editing, submitting, rejection. If this is what you want, work for it! Believe in your idea and your writing.8. What are you working on now? Right now, I’m working on the sequel to With Me Now, toying around with two other paranormal romances, and one historical. There’s always another Chapter 1!9. And finally, two just for fun: If you wrote a book about yourself, what would the title be? Probably something along the lines of, “So this happened….”10. What are five adjectives you feel describe you? Loving, nerdy, awkward, rambunctious, and groovy

Madison Monroe is an anthropology prodigy. She’s poised to graduate with a double major. She’s published in scholarly journals and archeology magazines. With limited field experience, the crowning jewel for her graduate school application is an upcoming dig in Normandy.
And she just got arrested for underage drinking.
Less than a month before she turns twenty-one.
Now, instead of taking part in her dream dig, she’s kicked off the crew and barely escapes academic probation. Her only option for her application is a routine archeological survey in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.
Once in Gettysburg, though, the “simple” dig isn’t exactly what it seems. Madison can feel a presence watching her and can hear voices of the dead calling from the battlefield. And, when she discovers a long buried secret at the Spangler Farm, she inadvertently sets off a chain of events that will put everything—including her life—on the line.

Excerpt
The hot water and steam of the shower was relaxing, enough to kick the butterflies in her stomach into submission. Her muscles ached. The tendons and ligaments in her upper shoulders and back throbbed as if she’d been moving heavy furniture all week instead of throwing her weight against the screen sifter. It was just another brutal reminder that, although she was thin, she was pathetically out of shape. She stood under the unrelenting water, craning her neck from side to side in an attempt to work the muscles loose. Maybe Mike could crack her back for her. She smirked. Now that was a pickup line she’d have to remember: say, care to get on top and crack my back? Once the conditioner was rinsed out of her hair, she turned the faucet off and reached for a towel. Her hair was getting long. It seemed like she’d need to use two or three of the thin, white hotel towels to sop up the excess water. No matter, she could resort to using the room’s hair dryer and, in forty-five minutes or so, the feeble little machine might get her hair dry. Damn it, of all the things to leave at home. She hadn’t planned on needing to look as attractive and desirable as humanly possible. If she had, she’d have brought along a better selection of makeup. She towel dried her hair enough to keep water from trickling down her back, and then wrapped another towel around her body. It was a good thing she’d done a load of laundry the previous day. Not that she had “date” quality outfits with her, but she was fully aware which pair of jeans accentuated her curves the best. She pulled on a red vintage style t-shirt emblemized with a grayed out Union Jack. It was casual and cute, though she was reasonably sure her clothes were the last thing on his mind. The steam from the small bathroom had filtered out into the sink area, fogging up the mirror and giving everything a generally damp feeling. She wiped her hand across the condensation covered mirror. In the unobstructed reflection she could see a figure, a man, standing directly behind her.She bit back a shriek and jerked around. There was no one there; the room was empty.“Shit.” The words felt as if they bubbled out of her throat, pushed out by her rapid heartbeat. She gripped the countertop with one hand to steady herself. The reflection in the mirror was clear and crisp. It wasn’t a shadow or the light playing on the steam from the shower. It was a man. It was him, the man who’d been watching her for days. He’d stood and watched her at the Spangler Farm. He’d breathed on the back of her neck, whispered in her ear as she worked in the test pit. Now he was in her room. Madison swallowed hard, peering into the main section of the hotel room. It was empty. Nothing was out of place, no one was watching her from any corner of the room; yet, she didn’t feel completely alone. He was still there. Her hand faltered on the countertop and she sank backward, half sitting, half leaning against the sink. The air in the room felt soupy and stale. Gooseflesh rippled down her still damp arms and across her back. What in Christ’s name did he want from her?She felt him next to her, his breath on her shoulder. Please.Could he hear her when she spoke to him? It was worth a try. “I’m not sure I know how to help you.” But she knew someone who did.

Heather currently resides in Western Pennsylvania with her husband and two songs. When she’s not writing or working as a disability claims analyst at an insurance company, she enjoys traveling and training to run 5ks. She also enjoys white wine, One Direction, and getting tattoos.

Ravenna Tate talks about her series The Weathermen!
Hello! Thank you so much for visiting Written Butterfly with me today!
Q) How did you dream up the dynamics of your characters?
Emmett Radcliffe is one of the Weathermen and we met him book one – An Appetite For Blackmail. Liane is a new employee of his, and I wanted the dynamics to be explosive and possessive on Emmett’s side, but unsure on Liane’s. Both characters lost something from people they loved. Emmett never had his parents’ approval, and Liane lost her husband and infant daughter before everyone was forced to move underground. Each one needs to come to terms with those losses before they can love one another.
Q) Is this part of a series? If so, tell us about it!
Oh yes! This is book two of The Weathermen. The year is 2124 and something has gone terribly wrong with The Madeline Project. Designed to control weather, the computer program is now functioning on its own, thanks to a virus called Tommy Twister. Earth’s surface is bombarded with unpredictable, spontaneous severe storms. If you’re not underground, you have little chance of survival.
Several teams of storm chasers from all over the planet risk their lives trying to collect data during the storms, in the hopes it will help researchers shut down the program. Meanwhile, a group of men work behind the scenes controlling all of Earth’s communications systems. They have the power and the money to keep the Storm Troopers supplied with equipment and the latest technology, and they will stop at nothing to find the hackers responsible for sending The Madeline Project rogue.
Ruthless, greedy, and powerful, these men were at the top of the communications industry when The Madeline Project turned into a nightmare, and they still run their empires. Living underground hasn’t changed anything for them. It’s only increased their supremacy and reputation. They call themselves The Weathermen…
Q) How much real life do you put into or influences your books?
Nearly everyone I’ve ever known has made it into the personality of a character, at least in part. Otherwise, most of what I write has never happened to me, but some of it has happened to people I know.
Q) What are your upcoming projects?
There are twelve books in The Weathermen series, and I’m currently finishing up book four. I have a free read planned for submission to Evernight that is a follow up to Snowbound, and I have two series in outline form. One is a contemporary series and the other is a paranormal series.

On her first day working for Emmett Radcliffe, President of Radcliffe Software and Web Design, Liane Peyton learns that Emmett hired her not only for her design skills, but for her coding abilities. Liane finds herself building a secret database for Emmett and his friends, but saving the planet isn’t Emmett’s only obsession. He has his sights set on Liane, and he will stop at nothing to have her.
Emmett is part of a group of friends financing the efforts to put a stop to The Madeline Project. The program now has a mind of its own, thanks to a virus called Tommy Twister. These men have power, resources, and money, but they’re as ruthless and possessive as the storms ravaging Earth.

ADULT EXCERPT
She pushed her hips against his erection and moved her tongue over his, imitating his movements. She needed this man inside her right now or she was going to die from desire. Was that possible? It had to be, because she’d never felt such intense longing.
His mouth still on hers, he backed her up against the sideboard and then released the kiss. “Turn around.”
Once again, she obeyed without hesitation. Emmett leaned her over the furniture. He tugged her hair until her head was back, and then he licked her neck. “I’m going to fuck you, Liane. And you’re going to take it.”
She cried out in pleasure as he moved his other hand over her ass, giving each cheek a couple of hard smacks. The dress wasn’t thick, and it stung, but she absolutely adored it. He let go of her hair and pushed the dress up, revealing her ass. “Oh yes. I knew you had a nice one.” His hands caressed her cheeks, moving down the backs of her thighs and up her lower back. “You are exquisite.”
Liane didn’t answer him. She couldn’t. All she could do was close her eyes and absorb the sensations. Never had she been taken like this. This was heady and raw. It sent her emotions spiraling out of control and her arousal to places it had never gone.
He told her to spread her legs a bit, and then he slipped a finger into her ass crack and underneath to her throbbing clit, over and over, until she pushed back against him and writhed against his touch. “Please…” she whispered.
His lips grazed her neck. “Please what?”
“Oh…”
Emmett slid a finger between her moist folds and Liane cried out again as fresh desire raced through her. “You are soaking wet.”
“I can’t help it. You did that to me.”
“Mmmm… I can’t wait to taste it.”
Her exhale came out in a shudder, and when he pushed his other hand into the opening at the front of the dress and placed it over her left breast, she began to whimper. He rolled her nipple between his thumb and forefinger while she shook her head back and forth, silently begging for release.
“I wonder how these taste.”
“Please.”
“Tell me what you want, Liane. In detail. Or I won’t do anything more than I’m doing right now for the entire night.”
How the hell did he have this kind of control? Was he human?
“I want you to make love to me.”
He chuckled, and shivers ran up and down her spine. Emmett gave her nipple a squeeze, and the tiny jolt of electricity it sent straight to her clit forced a loud moan from her. “You’re going to have to do better than that, gorgeous. Come on. Use your imagination.”
Shit. He was going to torture her with sex. “Okay. I want you to lick that.”
Another squeeze, this one tighter. She cried out again. “That what? Use real names. Come on, Liane. You’re a grown women with a lush body. Own it. Tell me what you want me to do to every square inch of it.”
“Spank me more. I loved that. And lick my nipples. And suck them. Please.”
“Good girl.” His hand moved to the other breast, where he proceeded to tease it in the same way. Then he slipped a long finger into her pussy, slowly, while she let out a long moan. “Don’t stop. Tell me more. What else do you want me to do to you?”
“Fuck me. With your tongue, your fingers, and your dick.”
“Good girl. Very good.” He moved his finger in and out gently, and the movement sent shock waves straight to her clit. She was going to come. No doubt about it.
“I can’t think anymore.”
He kissed her neck. “Yes you can.”
“You mentioned tying me to your bed.”
“Yes, I did.” That voice! It washed over her until no other sound existed. “Tell me about that. What do you picture when you think about it?”
“I’ve always had fantasies.”
He moaned softly as he continued playing with her nipple and her pussy. “Is that true? Tell me about them. Please, Liane.”
The realization this was turning him on just as much sent her excitement level through the roof. “I want you to tie me down and spank me, and then fuck me silly. Fuck me until neither one of us can breathe.”
“Oh my God. You shall have your wish, beautiful lady. But first, if I don’t get inside that hot, wet pussy I’m going to come in my pants.”

Excerpt Pink and orange hues filled the sky with awarm beauty while the sun set. Holly wrapped her arms around herself and liftedher face toward the sky to soak in the last few moments of the sun before thechill of the night descended upon them. This was definitely not going to be aneasy talk to get through. She just hoped they’d both be okay when it wasdone. Zander stepped up behind her, andshe felt the heat of his body before he wrapped his arms around her frombehind. The way she was drawn to him made her wonder if he had a magnetic pull, and it kind of scared her a little bit. Holly tried to enjoy the view as theywere silent for a few moments.“As much as I hate to let go, I think maybe weshould sit so we can finally talk,” Zander said. Shehesitated a moment before taking his hand while they walked back to his houseand sat beside each other on the patio. Thisis it.“First, I want to clear up earlier,” Zandersaid. “She was just a friend, nothing more. She has only ever been a friend.”He lifted their linked hands and kissed the top of hers. “This isn’t any of my business, but does sherealize that? I got the impression there was much more than a friendshipthere.” Holly held her breath and didn’t exhale until after he answered her.“Not for a really long time, and we were nevera couple.” His posture slumped. “Before today, I hadn’t heard from her inmonths. She just showed up out of the blue, but I swear nothing happened.”“Why are you telling me this?” Holly shiftedto face him. “So you and she were friends with benefits a while ago. I have toadmit I didn’t like seeing you with her, but I don’t have any right to be mad. We’re taking things slow, remember?”“That’s just the thing. I want to be with you,Hol. As in, I’d be staking my claim. You’d be my girlfriend, exclusive.”“I’m actually kind of glad you said that. I’verecently figured out that I’m not made for casual.” She bit her lip nervously.“I don’t even care about your friend anymore because I sort of have some hugenews, which throws going slow out the window anyway. That is, if you don’tfreak out and feel like you want nothing to do with me after this.” “Okay, now you’re making me nervous,” he jokednervously and playfully nudged her with his shoulder. “What’s up?”“You probably should be.” Holly smiled weaklyand then exhaled long and hard. “I didn’t want a relationship when you cameinto the picture, and I didn’t want to care for someone so much. But then thereyou were all sweet, caring, and persistent and screwed up my original plans. Solet’s get that out there.” She smiled and leaned into him. Her head lay on hisshoulder and she looked up at him needing to be close. “That’s the best part bythe way because I’m glad I’ve let you in. I care for you a lot. I’ve messed up,though. We both have. Do you remember the night at my sister’s?”“How could I forget?” His eyes lit up and shesnorted. “It was a good night, huh?” She licked herlips just thinking about it. “Well, I haven’t been feeling like myself lately,so Lauren decided to take me to get a checkup…”“O-okay, you were sick and…?” Zander’s browsscrunched together in confusion, but as if he sensed her discomfort, he gaveher a quick reprieve to pull herself together before she had to spit out thebig news. He captured her mouth. His soft, plump lips caressed hers, then hemoved to nip and suck on her bottom lip. His tongue coaxed her mouth openfarther, and she tasted his mutual arousal as he probed the slit of her mouthwith his tongue. One of her hands fisted in his shirt and held him closer, while the other massaged his nape and into his hair. They both moaned in theheat of the moment, and she could feel his chest rise and fall more rapidlybefore he pulled away. “God, I’ve missed this,” he said. “You getsick again and I’m coming over with some chicken soup and taking care of you.“That sounds amazing.” She smirked. “I’vemissed you too.” Holly shifted so that she was facing him now and rested herforehead against his while they caught their breath.“Don’t go home yet. Call Lauren and let’srecreate that night.” He wiggled his eyebrows up and down.“You are such a goofball. As tempting as thatsounds, I need to finish what I was saying before you distract me too much.”She gave him a quick peck on the lips and leaned back.“But the distraction is so good. I can’t helpmyself.” He lifted a sexy, dark eyebrow in question. “Can we fool around a bitwhile you talk? I’m a great multitasker.” “I’ll tell you what, if after I tell youeverything I need to, you still want to fool around or more, then yes, we’ll goinside your place and I’ll make it worth your while.” She wiggled her browsback at him and smiled as she caressed the side of his face. I just hope I don’t ruin things first. “Deal.” “Lauren might not be too happy if she findsout the truth.” “Really?” He looked at her in shock. “I findthat hard to believe after her and Shelby practically pushed us together.” Hesmiled and kissed the back of her hand. “Remind me to thank them for that oneday.” “Ireally hope you still feel that way after you hear what I have to say.” “Quit stalling and just tell me already.”“So you know I haven’t been feeling welllately, but what you don’t know is why she’s been on my case. She had someconcerns that drove her to take me to the doctor in the first place.” Sheleaned way back in her chair and closed her eyes.“Is she still hung up about the newapartment?”“In a way, I guess, but right now what’sbothering her is her assumption that I might be pregnant.” She peeked in hisdirection to gauge his reaction. He stiffened a bit on the seat next to her andsat straighter. “Wait, what?”

Welcome Jennifer Macaire and her sexy zombie, Jack!
Hello! Thank you so much for visiting Written Butterfly with me today!
Q) How did you dream up the dynamics of your characters?
I was at a book conference in Germany and a bunch of us were talking about zombies. One of the people was a male model who was regaling us with tales of his stripping debuts, and we were howling with laughter. Somehow strippers and zombies got mixed up in the conversation, and Kris Alice, a friend of mine, told me I absolutely had to write the story. After that, it was all downhill – or uphill? At any rate, it took off from there!
Q) Is this part of a series? If so, tell us about it!
The series is called M.U.C.I., or Mutant and Undead Criminal Investigation. It's ultra secret, so everyone knows about it, especially the people living in the huge trailer park right next to it. In this parallel universe, in a city reminiscent of New Orleans, mutants and undead live alongside humans. Rare and discreet, they are nonetheless required to register with the Mutant and Undead Branch of Interpol to get passports and social security, (pink cards for vamps, yellow cards for shifters, and purple cards for zombies...). At MUCI (or moosie as it's fondly called), a dedicated bunch of humans, undead and mutants work hard to keep everything running smoothly and keeping everyone more or less within the law.
Q) If you could choose, which published author would you like to brainstorm with and why?
I'm lucky, I don't have to dream about that - right now I'm in the middle of brainstorming with a good writer friend, Brandon Rucker. We've been in contact for many years now, starting with the old Zoetrope online writing workshop! We've decided to do a project together, and so, for now, we are tossing ideas back and forth like tennis balls all the while trying to juggle our jobs, our families and our writing – honestly, there are not enough hours in a day!
Q) What are your upcoming projects?
Well, my immediate goal is to finish the third book in the M.U.C.I. series, and also to finish a YA book I started called the Road to Eternity, hopefully it won't be an eternity before it's finished. Brandon and I are also keen on doing a book together (or several books) but for now, the story is still in the outline stage, and we're still arguing about who gets to start it, - lol. I usually have three or four ideas simmering, and I always have a book in hand or in my purse (I carry my e-book reader with me everywhere) because I am a voracious reader. Reading good books is one of my best inspirations for writing!
JACK THE STRIPPER by Jennifer Macaire
Thank you having me here! I’m so excited to be sharing my book JACK THE STRIPPER with you! Jack's back from the dead. His mission? Catch the Heart Taker, a mutant terrifying human and undead alike. Jack teams up with his ex-girlfriend Brianna and a hot zombie named May to catch the killer – but he has to hurry, the Heart Taker has chosen Brianna as his next victim.
Blurb
Welcome to The Purple Dee. Pull up a chair and get settled in, the show will start soon!
Our featured performer tonight is Jack the Stripper. He's Jack Severn, newly back from the dead. He's magical, he's hot, but evil he's not!
Jim Ling-Li, Necromancer extraordinaire, brought him back to life, gave him some extra features, and, as you'll see, made him irresistible --
Especially to Jack's ex-girlfriend Brianna. Jack's sexier than ever, and they're better together. But she doesn't want to risk her heart, not again, and definitely not with a zombie.
Jack also has a mission. He's back to catch the Heart Taker, the mutant that's been terrifying human and undead alike. His current obsession's none other than Jack's Brianna.
So give a big hand for Jack...he's going to need all the support he can get to catch his own murderer.
*Jack the Stripper was origianally published by Loose Id as "Zombie Jack". It has been re-edited and re-issued by Evernight Publishing.
Excerpt: His arm fell off again. The first time it happened, he’d been holding a heavy suitcase. A woman noticed and let out a horrified scream. He looked down. The suitcase lay on the ground, his hand still gripping it. “Ahhhh!” he screamed too. Suddenly everyone in the bus station was either screaming or running. Panicked, he grabbed his arm, first having to pry his fingers off the suitcase, and fled. With the bus station far behind him, he slowed down and tried to take stock of his situation. He was lost. His arm had fallen off. Well, it could be worse. At least he hadn’t lost it. He took his shirt halfway off and popped his arm back into its socket—getting it backwards the first time.It was so bizarre. His arm was like part of a toy that popped in and out of its socket. A strange, magnetic, magical effect held it together. At least he didn’t feel any pain and it wasn’t too gross once you got used to seeing bare bone and muscle. No blood. No pain. No suitcase—he’d left it in the bus station. No clean clothes. A raindrop landed on his nose. Then the sky opened up and let down a deluge. Great.Hunching his shoulders against the rain, he hurried down the street. A sort of whispered tingle ran through his body, urging him this way and that. It was the same sort of tingling pull that made him go to the bus station. It had led him this far—he might as well follow it to see where he’d end up. The mysterious force coursing through his body tugged him along, and then spun him around and pushed him into a dark, narrow alleyway. He looked around. At one end of the alley was a dumpster. At the other end was the quiet street where he’d arrived. He knew where he was. Things were starting to fall into place. He waited a few minutes, but no one had followed him. He sighed, and went to the green door. He tried the handle, but it was locked, and when he pulled it, his arm fell off again.Depression and dismay rolled over him. He bent down, picked up his arm, and put it back in place. Nothing was going right. He kept hoping he’d wake up from the nightmare he found himself in, but it wasn’t happening. He was dead, and he had no place to go except here. Timidly, he rapped on the green door. No one answered, so he knocked harder, and then, when the door remained shut, he made a fist and pounded with all his might. After a few moments it opened and a man with long blond hair down to his waist peered out at him. The man rubbed bloodshot blue eyes, yawned, and then said, “You’re too early for the audition. It won’t be for another couple hours.” With that, he shut the door in Jack’s face.Audition? Jack blinked, backed up, and looked more carefully at the green door. Taped to the door was a sign. “Auditions. All day Sunday.”He rapped on the door again, and the blond man opened it. He looked cross. “Look man, it says starting at 2 p.m.”“It says all day Sunday,” said Jack. “Is today Sunday?”“Of course.” The blond man looked perplexed. “All day Sunday? Let me see that.” He stepped out and examined the sign. “Right.” He looked at Jack. “Wait a minute.” He went inside. A minute later he was back with a felt-tipped pen. Carefully, he blacked out the “All day” and wrote, “Starting at 2 p.m.”. Putting the top back on the pen he nodded. “Better.”“Could I wait inside?” Jack asked. “It’s raining.”The blond man had been about to shut the door. He scratched his head then shrugged. “All right. You can wait in the lounge. Follow me.”Gratefully, Jack entered the building where he was pretty sure he’d been killed.
Review: "...The story is really enjoyable as Ms Macaire deliciously brings on the zany dark humor in a manner that really appeals to the fan of the macabre in me. The humor is not too overpowering or too farcical
- just enough to keep me laughing. There is already a beautiful kind of poetry in the premise, what with a hero who lacks a heart, but is in love, and who is supposed to be dead but ends up a hero instead. The story doesn't disappoint in delivering a fun Tim Burton kind of romantic adventure where I am concerned."

The Red Wolves Motorcycle Club...Book 3

When Dove Cries (Book 3 Red Wolves MC)
John Draven is vice president of the Red Wolves Motorcycle Club. While on a special run, he meets FBI Agent Cadence Vanaker again. Cade is the man who killed his cousin five years ago and the one man he hates more than anything, but now he’s forced to work with him to take down a human trafficking ring operating in his hometown.
Cade wants more than anything to tell Draven that he wasn’t the one who killed his cousin, but he can’t reveal the truth so he has to live with Draven’s hate. When the two men find a woman half dead and bound with zip ties, they both feel a need to protect her.
Dove Aldrin is a sensitive young woman who had been abducted and held prisoner for a long time. When she escapes, she falls into the path of two men determined to help her and find the man responsible. What she didn’t count on was falling for both of them. How can she pick one over the other, especially when they can’t stand each other?
**Each book in the series is interracial menage.

Slowly, awareness fluttered back to Dove. First, there were noises. The gentle swish of the air conditioning. The hum of a machine. Then came the antiseptic cleanliness of the air. Finally, she felt the stiff bleached sheets tucked in around her. She cracked her eyelids. A white room and light green curtain. A hospital. It meant she was rescued. She was safe. She shifted her gaze and saw her angel reclined in a chair next to the bed. His arms lay crossed over his massive chest and his booted feet were crossed at the ankles. His chin rested on his chest as he dozed, and she was afraid he was going to wake up with a painful crick. Draven. Was that his first or last name? She took a moment to study him, admiring his sandy blond hair that hung a little long over his collar. She vaguely remembered he had pretty blue eyes. He wore a black leather vest over a white T-shirt that looked as if it had seen better days. On the upper left-hand side, she read the name of his motorcycle club, The Red Wolves, and under that was a patch that said V. President. She didn’t know anything about motorcycle clubs or motorcycles in general. In fact, her father had warned her not to get too close to the rough men who lived the biker life. They were trouble, he’d said. Clearly, her father had been wrong, because this man sitting next to her bed was her angel, her savior, and she was going to stick by his side the rest of her life. If that meant living among bikers, so be it. At that moment, the door opened and another biker walked in wearing black leather with a satchel that hung diagonally across his body. His leather vest had a patch that said Nomad. He was just as tall as her angel, although his body seemed a little suppler in its strength. Silver shot through his dark, cropped hair, and the puppy dog brown eyes that met her gaze made her belly quiver with attraction, even in her weakened state. He carried two cups of coffee and halted when he saw that she was awake. A small smile graced his lips, and a dimple popped up in his left cheek that softened his harsh countenance. She returned the smile and watched as he made his way to the other side of her bed where an empty chair waited. He set the coffees down upon the C-arm table that hugged the bed over her legs. “Hello,” he whispered. “Hello,” she whispered back. “I’m Cadence, but call me Cade—Cade Vanaker. You probably don’t remember me, but I was there yesterday with John.”“John?”Cade nodded toward the sleeping man on the other side of her bed. “John Draven. What’s your name?”“Dove Aldrin.”“It’s nice to meet you, Dove, although it’s crappy circumstances.”She flinched at the memories of the circumstances. “He won’t find me, will he? He won’t hurt me again?”Cade slowly reached out and took her hand in his. He caressed the soft skin right above where the white gauze ended with his thumb. The soft attraction fluttering in her belly blossomed through the rest of her body.“I promise you, he won’t hurt you again. He’s dead, Dove. That’s why you were forgotten in that shit hole.”

Welcome Tamsin Baker!

Hi Beth! Thanks so much for having me.
Q) How did you dream up the dynamics of your characters?
This story was originally written for an anthology call of Evernights for MF stories that were ‘strength vs innocence’ themed. I submitted it at 6500 words to have a reply saying to please redo and resubmit because the story deserved to be longer. It’s now over 24K so I’m pretty sure the editors were right J
Q) How much real life do you put into or influences your books?
A little bit I suppose. I try not to write about my own life or things I’ve experienced, but love, sex and human emotions are the common thread that draws us all together, so its impossible for me not to have put some of me in my books.
Q) If you could choose, which published author would you like to brainstorm with and why?
Personally I love Shannon West. She writes mostly m/m and I LOVE her werewolf series. Her characters are loveable, her world building believable and the sex… amazing!
Q) What are your upcoming projects?
I’m working on the third MFM Perfect Pairs book which is a Canadian mountain lion shifter series.
Her one and only DomBy Tamsin Baker
Blurb:Simone graduated from university with three important things: her degree, her virginity still intact, and a case of unrequited love to make life complete. Her professor, Patrick Smythe is everything she wants in a man.
After building up the courage to ask him out at the graduation ball, she is mortified when he rejects her. Six months later, her best friend drags her along to a BDSM club and Simone realizes why the sexy professor gave her the brush off. He’s a Dom at the club.
Patrick has never found a woman who can fulfil all of his needs in and out of the bedroom. Simone wants to be this woman, but can she succeed when they come from such different worlds?
Excerpt:“Tell me more about why you haven’t dated before, Simone.”She smiled and kept his gaze, no fear showing in her eyes. “I dated Patrick, a few people throughout high school and uni.”Anger and a small amount of fear spread through his belly. She had lied to him? “You told me you didn’t.”She chuckled softly and picked up a piece of garlic bread.“I told you I was a virgin, and I was. I have barely let anyone do more than kiss me. So stop looking at me like that.”Throwing in the towel so to speak, amazed at his lack of control with this woman, he poured more wine into his glass.“I think I’m jealous that anyone has touched you.”She laughed at that and he felt heat fill his cheeks. That would teach him for being honest. She reached across the table, taking some of the sting out of her laugh with the squeeze of her hand on his.“I didn’t mean to laugh honey, but seriously? You’ve probably slept with more people than you can count and you’re jealous just because I kissed a few guys?”Patrick smiled, guilty as charged. “Are you telling me I’m being a hypocrite?”She laughed again and ran her nails over the back of his hand.“I love that you’re jealous. It means you care.”Patrick turned his hand over and gripped her fingers. He instinctively knew that this was one of those defining moments in a relationship He’d never been jealous before, hadn’t cared about anyone enough to be upset when they moved on. This was very different. “I do care Simone. You are amazing.”She drew back and he instantly wanted her hand back in his.“So you’ll teach me more about the subby stuff?”Patrick laughed, he couldn’t help it. She made it sound so basic.“Yes, I’ll teach you everything. What I need, how to please me.”Her eyes sparked and her mouth flattened into a straight line. Oh how he was going to love teaching her.“And in return I will give you more pleasure and make you feel treasured beyond your wildest dreams.”Something changed inside her eyes when he said that and the frown disappeared to be replaced by a shy smile. “But you’ll go easy on me to start with?”Patrick nodded, serious now. “It’s my job to push your limits, but you always need to feel safe. If you say stop, we stop, that never changes.”Their dinner arrived and Patrick ate his steak while Simone enjoyed her risotto. They finished the wine and Patrick called the waiter over. “Dessert?”Simone shook her head and held her belly. “No thank you, I’m so full.”He placed some cash in the leather binder containing the bill and smiled as wickedly as possible. He would be fine to drive, though handling a flogger may be a problem. “Home then?”She nodded and stood, swaying gently on her small heels. He tucked her into his arm and led her to the car. When he opened the door she fell into it, giggling away. He shook his head, but couldn’t wipe the smile off his face.Once he had the car started and they were driving back to his home, he asked her, “You didn’t have that much to drink. Why are you giggling so much?”She slid her hand over his thigh, a little too close to his aching cock.“I’m just happy, Patrick, and it feels so good to laugh.”Almost home, almost home. “Well, I’m sure I can make you feel better.”Her hand stilled and he looked over at her quickly, she was worried about something.“What’s wrong, babe?”Simone slid her hand up to his crotch and stroked the flesh that was rapidly hardening. “Actually, I’m sore. Like really sore. Could you teach me some things I could do to pleasure you?”Visions of Simone on her knees swam into Patrick’s vision and he groaned as blood flooded his groin. “Oh, I can think of a thing or two I can teach you that will give your sore bits a rest.”“How about you drive me home and you teach me in the car?”Though Patrick’s heart rate sped up at the idea, his eyebrows furrowed into a frown. “I like to be comfortable, Simone, and you should be too.”She giggled and began to unbuckle his leather belt. “Oh, please, Patrick. I’ve always been such a good girl and never fooled around with anyone. Please?”Well, how was he going to say no to that? He nodded and released a groan as she released his belt and unzipped him, his eager cock pulsing with pleasure as it sprang from its confines.

Merry May Blog Hop!

I grew up in the Eighties. A fun time for a teenage girl with the emergence of Madonna and Cyndi Lauper (to name only two of the plethora or female singers). We piled our hair high and used a can of hairspray a day. The fashion of dangling earrings as big as dangling bracelets, fishnets under shorts, floppy bows, and large necklaces that said “Boy Toy”.
As a young girl I had such romantic ideas spurred on by the fantastical romance of Harlequin Present and LoveSpell novels. Books that told of breathless passion between men and women. I couldn’t wait to grow up and find that kind of love. I was about twelve when I started writing my own romance novel, longhand of course. My first typewriter was manual and my best friend was a new invention called White Out.
Romance females back then were girls I could relate to. Most were secretaries, receptionists, nurses or schoolteachers. The men were usually wealthy and hard-bitten, softened by love. They whisk the girl away from her downtrodden job or life and sweep her into future of love, wealth and privilege.
As movies like “Working Girl” swept in a new generation of women’s lib, tastes started to change. I started to read more stories with stronger females, love that had to be fought for, flawed heroes with emotions. My perspective on romance changed. In my twenties I thought I had found my hero, only to be disappointed. And as my taste in what I read changed, so too did my writing.
Now I prefer flawed characters redeemed through love. Heroes or heroines who may start out weak and use love to transform themselves. In my current book, Once Upon a Love Story, my heroine has had a horrible life. She’s a stripper who has a dream of obtaining her GED and thinks that once she does, life will be a bowl of roses. It’s not, of course, but she does find a man who loves her for who she is.
The role of females in romance and erotic romance has changed significantly since the Seventies and Eighties, and the introduction of e-readers has allowed many fantasies to be explored. Women are allowed to explore sexual situations once thought taboo, a sort of “burning of the bras” computer style. And though sometimes I have the hero saving the girl, more than likely I make sure the girl can save herself.+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Lynn Burke's Risso Family Returns in....Longing For Her
Hello! Thank you so much for visiting Written Butterfly with me today!
Q) How much real life do you put into or influences your books?
I always try to put SOME real life influences in my stories. It could be as simple as a person I see on the street who inspires me to write, or an event from my own past. I think utilizing what has influence OUR lives, makes for more believable writing.
Q) If you could choose, which published author would you like to brainstorm with and why?
Oh boy. I brainstormed hours with Anne Tyler over my Means of Mercy series. Lucky duck, I know!!! I’d love to have coffee with Roni Loren or Lisa Kleypas seeing as how both have influenced me beyond words.
Q) What are your upcoming projects?
I’ve got an antho shifter short in submission, the third Risso Family novella in edits, and another series first story subbed, the 2ndin edits as well. Yup. Busy, busy bee.

Excerpt:I rounded the couch, but halted as a body came into view.
Cole lounged against the far side, one hand behind his head, half-empty beer bottle in the other. “Hey.”
Our gazes collided, sending a shock wave of energy through my blood. My heel itched to spin, but his focus wandered down my body and back up again, lingering on my bare thighs.
Oh, the temptation to taste him one more time. Three years of simmering desire had my kettle ready to scream hallelujah. “Hey,” I whispered back. “I thought you’d left.”
His smile melted my bones. “Decided to stay a while and reminisce.”
My lips tugged up. “I was eyeing the back of the couch while stealing some whiskey and doing the same thing.” Kind of.
“Care to join me?”
I considered the cushion closest to me and bit on the inside of my lip as temptation and love for the sexy man a few paces away warred in my brain. Knowing I owed Cole an apology, I decided to sit, curling my legs under me. “Sorry for being so harsh earlier. I…I didn’t mean to hurt you.”
Cole twisted sideways to place the bottle on the coffee table. “I shouldn’t have cornered you like that.” He started to sit up, but hesitated, a question in his eyes.
“It’s all right. I won’t run.”
The leather squeaked as he swung his feet to the floor and leaned back, hands on his thighs. His blue tie hung loose, the top two buttons of his dress shirt unbuttoned. A hint of dark hair called out to my fingers. Averting my eyes, I focused on the tumbler clasped in both my hands.
“I know I’ve said it hundreds of times, Gwen, but I’m sorry. Please say you forgive me.”
Another gulp of whiskey gave me courage to speak. “Forgiving in my mind means making things right—getting back to normal and moving on.” I lifted my head enough to focus on the knot of his tie. “I can’t do that with you, Cole.”
“Why not?”
“Because even though it’s expected you’ll marry an uptight, snobbish princess,” I sucked in air and allowed the words to spew, “I want you every second of the day.”
His chest stopped its rise and fall, and I glanced up at his face.
Mistake.
Longing like I’d never known reached out from his eyes and froze me in place. My breath caught. Nipples pebbled beneath my thin shirt.
Every muscle in my body quivered as he stood and walked toward me, unwavering gaze on my face.
“What—” I licked my lips, hating how my voice wavered. “What are you doing?”
“Give me the whiskey.”
My pulse thrummed with life, and I put the glass in his outstretched hand.
He set it on the coffee table without breaking eye contact and leaned down, placing his hands against the back of the couch on either side of me, making an effective cage. His face hovered mere inches from mine.
I breathed in as he exhaled, the subtle scent of peppermint flooding my mouth with saliva. His lower lip called out to my teeth; the shadow lining his jaw begged for my tongue.
“Did you mean what you said about once being enough, Gwen? Because it’s not for me. I want to taste every inch of your skin. Bury myself inside you.”
My breath caught, and moisture flooded my panties making me squirm on the cushion.
I opened my mouth, having no idea what words would tumble out, but he swooped down, capturing my parted lips before I could speak.
Blessed Mary, mother of God.

Q&A with TL Reeve!

Thank you for having me!
Q) How did you dream up the dynamics of your characters?
You go right to the nitty-gritty don’t you? *laughs* I start with the scenario first, then I add the characters. Then I build who I want the hero to be. I go through several drafts of the hero sometimes, refining his qualities. Then I create his/her equal. By the time I’m done, I can tell you everything about each person. They might look like an unlikely pair but it’s the chemistry that makes them fit. And let’s face it, without chemistry, why put the characters together, right?
Q) Do you have any habits that get you in the writing frame of mind?
Not really. There are days when it’s as simple as sitting down in front of my laptop and letting the words flow and then other days, it’s harder. Other days I physically have to make myself sit down to write.
Q) Is this part of a series? If so, tell us about it!
Obsessed is a stand alone. Sorry guys. L
Q) How much real life do you put into or influences your books?
I think there are parts of me in all of my books. How much and in which books, well you’ll have to be the judge of that. *wg*
Q) If you could choose, which published author would you like to brainstorm with and why?
Oh man. You’re really trying to make this difficult, aren’t you? I would have to say Rebecca Royce. She comes up with some great shifter worlds, and as someone who is just starting in the para-shifter realm, it would be great to get some pointers from her.
Q) What are your upcoming projects?
I have several. I’m working on a fairytale right now. A Biker/shifter story, and two other shifter stories as we speak. I’m a busy, busy writer.

BLURB
I'd been through a ton of shit in my life. The guy I thought I loved left me, and the guy I thought was my friend, started stalking me. I found myself though when Mike came to me and offered me a job.
Things were going good. My stalker seemed to back off and I began to live again.
However, that didn't last long. As Mike became more of a fixture in my life, my stalker became more obsessed. Now, stuck between my stalker and the man I could fall for, I had a decision to make.
Do I give up myself and go with Kyle, or do I make a stand and finally put my stalker to rest.
EXCERPT“Hey Fin? You home?” Mike’s voice rumbled up from the courtyard. I closed my eyes and sent up a silent prayer of thanks.
“Yeah, I’m up here, Mike,” I called out. Never had I been so happy to hear his voice.
A few moments later he bounded up the stairs. Kyle snarled, still close enough that I could feel his breath lick against my neck. “Hey Kyle.” Mike brushed past him wrapped his arms around me and kissed me.
I died and went to heaven.
I gasped. Mike took that opportunity to deepen the kiss. His tongue pushed into my mouth. His fingers threaded through my hair, holding me still as he thoroughly devoured me. I whimpered against his lips as the full thickness of his erection pressed against my belly. When he finally pulled back, my head was spinning.
