WIP IT UP Wednesday - Works in Progress

Do you like Bikers?Badass motorcycle riders with tats and the attitude to go with it?Then you might like The Forgotten Rebels.  They’re a motorcycle club who requires its members to do a stint in the military before full membership is given.  In Unbroken (book 1), the President’s sister comes live with the club when her family is gunned down by a psycho stalker. In Wicked Man (book 2), the President, Wick, meets up with his old flame even though she’s still on the run.

At the end of the book 2, one of the members, Heart, is visiting his aunt when he crashes his bike.  Book 3 is titled Take Aim and Reload.  Heart is taken in by an angel, a beautiful woman named Cherry who nurses him back to health.  Cherry, however, has her own trouble that she’s running from. Here is a little excerpt from the beginning of Take Aim and Reload:
Cherry banged on the door to her sister’s mechanic shop, fear forcing her to glance over her shoulder to make sure she hadn’t been followed.  Only the chirping of crickets could be heard but that didn’t alleviate her terror.  Again, she pounded on the door and this time she heard the grumble of her sister tromping through the closed shop and relief poured through her.  Church would help her, would know what to do. A second later, the light flicked on as the door abruptly opened.  Her sister, Church, stared at her through eyes identical to her on, in a face that was a mirror copy.              “What the fuck, Cherry?” Church demanded, her small frame seemingly able to fill the doorway.              “Let me in, Church,” she said, a bit of desperation threading through her voice.  “I’m in trouble.”            Instantly, her sister’s anger disappeared and she stepped back to allow Cherry entrance.  As she hurried inside, Church closed the door behind her and doused the light.  Even though it was the dead of night, a sliver of moonlight filtered through the windows, allowing them to stare at one another.  Church placed her hands on her hips.            “What’s going on?”            Cherry dug through her pocket and pulled out a flash drive.  “I-I got it.”            Church shrugged.  “Got what?”            “Proof.  On Cabot Pharmaceuticals.”            For a moment Church stared at her, the concern melting away to dawning realization.  “You…what?”            “Remember when I told you that I thought the CEO was being shady?”            Church nodded warily.            “I-I broke in tonight.”            “You did what?”             “I had to, Church.  I had to ease my concerns.  So I broke into Warren’s office and got into his computer.”            “Wait, wait, wait.” Church held up her hands.  “You broke into Warren’s office?  You mean your boss, Warren Cabot, the president of the pharmaceutical company?”            Cherry nodded.            “Oh my God.  And you hacked your way into his computer-”            “Actually, I knew the password.”            “Okay, but you?  You did something illegal?”            Cherry could understand her sister’s disbelief.  Their entire lives had been shadowed by the fact that they’d been grossly misnamed, with Cherry being the good girl and Church rebelling against every rule.             “I-I had to do something,” she said.  Silently she cursed her stutter that always manifested whenever she was stressed.  “We’re the biggest pseudoephedrine pharmaceutical company in the mid-west and I-I just knew he was brokering some type of underhanded bad deals.”            “I’m not quite sure how I feel about this,” Church said, smirking a bit. “This role reversal is kinda freaking me out.”            “Stop it,” Cherry said sharply.  “I-I didn’t get away scot free.”            Church’s teasing nature dropped away and she glanced behind Cherry to the door.  “Someone caught you?”            “The head of security saw me.”            A myriad of emotions crossed over her sister’s face as the repercussions filtered through her head.  “If he knows you then he knows about me.”            Cherry nodded.            “Well, fuck!” Church threw her hands up in the air and turned away.  “God damn it, Cherry, why couldn’t you just keep your fucking nose out of their business?”            “I-I couldn’t do that and you know why.”  Cherry twisted her fingers together. “They’re selling it to gangs who make meth and in return, they get a kickback from the club.  They’re putting the drugs directly in the hands of kids, Church.  Kids just like Ricky.”            Church rubbed a hand over her face.  “Yeah.  Alright. You don’t need to talk about him.”            Cherry laid a hand on her sister’s arm.  “Yes, I do.  We can’t forget about him.”            Suddenly, a loud explosion erupted through the night.  Glass shattered. Something smashed into the wall next to her head and the next thing Cherry knew, Church yanked her down.              “Holy shit!”

Jacey Holbrand Brings a Twist on Alien Abduction

~ * ~ The Q & A ~ * ~
Q) Can you tell us about your series?A) Originally The Agency series was supposed to be a bunch of different stories following different peoples’ dealings with paranormal and supernatural activities. But that changed with the writing of the second story. Turns out one character stumbled across what he believed to be a conspiracy theory. The series ended up revolving around him, his friends/co-workers, and their plights in dealing with a scary clown-rabbit looking alien race. Of course, there’s also lots of male-male goodness and love in the air in each book.Q) Can you give a fun or interesting fact about your book?A) Abductions are not always about "collecting DNA" or experimenting as many people think. Instead, it's often about creating incredible terror in abductees and harvesting the energy of that terror.(*) Which Zen learns first hand in The Encounter. (*:http://www.rense.com/general82/unpl.htm)Q) What gave you the inspiration for your series?A) I originally wrote The Encounter for an anthology call where an alpha boss was to be paired with an assistant. When the story was requested to be expanded so it could be published separate from the anthology, I then came up with the series idea I first envisioned, as I stated above. Q) Do you have any habits that get you in the writing frame of mind?A) Going for a walk helps to clear my mind, get the blood and thoughts flowing, and give my muse a happy boost. Brainstorming with a close friend of mine who is also a writer; listening to music; finding a quiet place to reflect helps to get me in the right frame of mind as well.Q) What are your upcoming projects? A) I’m revamping a story that I’d submitted for an anthology that was out-right rejected. Then I’ll be writing two more stories in that new series. I’m leaning toward self-publishing those. I’ve been poking at a spin off series from The Agency that will be more sci-fi/romance based. In addition, I have several taboo stories to do last edits on, then I’ll format and self-pub those. I also have a bunch of projects under my other pen name, so I’ll probably be focusing my attention there for a while as well.

Love...with a Ghostly Twist

Let me introduce you to Charlotte Perth...
Charlotte is all about sass because her job reminds her all too well the limits of human life.  You see, she can talk to ghosts, but her gift is unique. She can only summon murdered souls and interprets the visions they send her.  When she’s hired by a wealthy woman to determine the fate of her great nephew, little does Charlotterealize this is one ghost that refuses to cross over.
Detective Jonas Daire feels Charlotte is a fake, out to swindle money from his rich aunt.  When Charlotte proclaims the nephew is not only dead but has been murdered, Jonas feels especially disgusted at Charlotte’s “profession”.  But when his cousin’s body is discovered in the place that she said it would be, with detailed accounts of how he died, he places her under suspicion.

Jonas and Charlotte work together to find the killer.  As the two grow closer together, another malevolent force won’t stop until the truth is buried…until Charlotte’s ghostly visions are her own.
This is Book One!
Book Two features the second love of Charlotte's life, Agent Nash McKnight!

Charlotte Perth has been sent to Missouri to find the bodies of three missing women and she’s dragging her injured new boyfriend, Jonas Daire, along for the ride.  Only when she arrives in Rock Ridge does she realize that Agent Nash McKnight has been hired to protect her, and his nearness is driving her absolutely crazy.
As if having to deal with a wacky Southern Belle who’s channeling more than the dearly departed, the local sheriff who’s convinced she’s the murderer, and an underground sex club wasn’t challenging enough.  Now she’s got to worry about her unwanted attraction to Nash as they go undercover to ferret out a killer.
Charlottedoesn’t want to betray Jonas, but she’s not quite sure how to squash her feelings for Nash.  And just when she thought she might have it all figured out, a secret she uncovers is enough to put her on the murderer’s high priority list.
Book Three brings them all together in one wacky menage relationship!
Leaving the troubling dilemma of loving two men behind, Charlotte Perth heads home to California.  The last time she was there she’d just come back from the dead with the gift of being clairvoyant.  Now, another young swimmer has drowned and Charlotte realizes it’s another victim…one that might not have been if she’d only told the truth twelve years earlier.
She doesn’t count on Jonas and Nash following her, ready to hammer out the details of being in a ménage relationship.  Both love her so they’re willing to share, as long as they don’t kill each other first.  Only now they have to convince stubborn Charlotte they can make the unusual relationship work.
Before she can possibly think of the future, however, she’s got a murder to solve while not falling victim twice to the same killer…one who’s waited a very long time for Charlotteto come home.

ABOUT BETH
I like writing about the very ordinary girl thrust into extraordinary circumstances, so my heroines will probably never be lawyers, doctors or corporate highrollers.  I try to write characters who aren't cookie cutters and push myself to write complicated situations that I have no idea how to resolve, forcing me to think outside the box.  I love writing characters who are real, complex and full of flaws, heroes and heroines who find redemption through love.
I’ve been pretty fortunate in life to experience some amazing things.  I’ve lived in France, travelled throughout Europe, Australia and New Zealand.  I am a mom to an amazing little boy.  I’ve walked a red carpet event and visited the USS Voyager. I hate washing dishes but I love cooking. I hate washing clothes but I love wearing them. Writing my bio is difficult because I never know what to say so I hope you like this one.  My favorite color is red but I look best in black (it’s slimming).  I hate people who don't pick up their dog's crap in public places, people who don’t use turn signals, and I really hate people who are rude and condescending. I especially hate discrimination in all and every form.  And although I love holding a book in my hand, I absolutely adore my ereader, whom I’ve named Ruby.  I love to hear from readers so I’ve made it really easy to find me on the web:

Cover Reveal! Joanna Blake's Heartfire

*Heartfire is a stand-alone novel with a guaranteed HEA and no cheating! This edition contains bonus materials for a limited time only!*Add to Goodreads heartfire
BLURB:
I put out fires for a living. I'm damn good at it too. I'm known for my bravery, courage and daredevil stunts. Oh yeah, and the way I use my hose.

Firemen are celebrities in this town. My father, my brothers and all my cousins have put their lives on the line for the people of Brooklyn, NY. I've been in calendars and on TV. I have my pick of any woman I want. Anytime, anywhere. All I have to do is snap my fingers.

But Kennedy Stewart is the one that got away.

A shy girl from strict religious family, we had a hotter than hell fling. I was auctioned off for charity and her friends won me for her as a joke. A shy virgin should've been easy pickings for me. But I was the one who got swept off his feet.

We had a few weeks of bliss, even if we had to sneak around. I even said the 'L' word. The next thing I know she's visiting relatives and won't answer my calls. I swore off women – especially her. But she took a little surprise with her.

My baby.

Now she's back in the little bundle of joy bears a startling resemblance to yours truly. I can't be fooled and I can't be denied. I want what's mine.

jompexcerpt

"Holy shit..."I turned to see what Lowe was looking at and my jaw dropped. She was here. In the bar.Kennedy was here. But she... didn't look like Kennedy.Gone was the innocent little beauty I'd fallen for, and then lost. This girl was confident. Wild. She oozed sex. From the corset top she wore to the frayed denim miniskirt and high heeled booties. Her hair was blown out and luxurious, like she was in a shampoo commercial. Her pouty lips were shiny and red. Her stunning eyes were lined with something dark and smokey. She was hot. She was sex on wheels. And she was already getting way too much attention. Her cousin Jamie smirked at me. I knew that she'd done this to spite me. To torture me.To get even with me for being a damn jackass. And it was working.I growled and slammed my drink down. I strode across the bar and grabbed Kennedy's arm. Then I dragged her right back outside."What the hell do you think you are doing?"She squeaked as I released her. I stood there, panting as she looked at me in shock."Drew... I didn't know you would be here.""Like hell you didn't!""Jamie said I needed to get out. So, we're out.""Go home, Kennedy! I don't want you here!"Her gorgeous eyes blinked at me. Then she blinked again. I stared at the solitary tear that rolled down her cheek.I ran my hands through my hair."Kennedy... shit, I'm sorry. I didn't mean that."She pulled her purse tight over her shoulder and shook her head."No, it's fine. I should have realized Jamie was up to something. We'll just... I'll go somewhere else."I stared at her, my jaw clenching."You should go home. You're going to start a damn riot! Why are you dressed like that? What are you trying to do to me?"She squared her shoulders and tossed her hair over her shoulder."Nothing. I'm leaving. Like you said. Tell- tell Jamie I'll see her at PJ's.""PJ's! Hell, no you are not going to PJ's alone!"She gave me a cold look."I don't see that it's any of your concern. I have a sitter. I'm an adult. I can go anywhere I damn please!"I snarled at her, taking a step towards her."No, you can't.""Yes. I can."She was trying to sound tough but she took a step backwards.  I followed her until her back was against the wall. She gave me a nervous look. Good. She should be nervous."No. You can't."I was inches away from her. I could practically taste her lips. She always reminded me of strawberries and cream. I wanted to see if she still tasted like that.I wanted to see if the fire was still burning between us.That was a lie.I knew it was.Even after everything she'd done, I could not resist her. I'd tried to stay away. And I'd failed.

ABOUT LEA BRONSEN'S STORY "COME ABOARD"
Lorna, a young American reporter, travels to a port town in France to cover a yacht race. She hopes she’ll be able to experience her wildest fantasy on the beach – sex in public. Due to getting on the wrong train, she has an argument with the controller, who she finds both immensely sexy and annoyingly arrogant.
When he brings her to the engine, pretending to restrain her but instead getting intimate with her, she sees the opportunity to live out her fantasy…

TRAILERhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ETJpsnhXGwM&feature=youtu.be EXCERPT
If lucky, I might even meet a handsome Frenchman with whom to spend Saturday night. I’m single, have been for the past few months, and at twenty-three, the lack of sex for such a long time is driving me half-nuts. An interlude with a local hotness on one of the warm beaches of Sables sounds like an irresistible idea. Yes, a beach, or any other public place. The eBook I’m reading features a heroine getting the fuck of her life in an open park at night against a tree in full view of passersby. I want that kind of excitement, too. The three boyfriends I’ve had in the past few years were good in bed but not daring enough. I yearn for someone to do something crazy and a little forbidden with me, in public visibility. Surely, that hint of dangerousness, the possibility of being caught by the authorities, should increase the sexual experience—and our orgasms—tenfold.
For now, I’ll have to do with checking out the cute Maghrebian controller while waiting for him to examine my ticket. Row after row, he walks the narrow aisle toward me, distributing polite smiles to the passengers and answering questions. Tall and broad-shouldered, he has the looks and build of a soccer player. A black tribal tattoo appears below the short sleeve of his purple shirt and travels down his sun-kissed, muscular forearm. Beneath his gray cap, he sports a short buzz cut, and two or three days’ worth of black beard stubble covers his cheeks and chin, just enough to make him…oh, God, immensely sexy. With full lips, a strong nose, and black olive-shaped eyes, he’s a gem of North Africa, an exotic, roughly polished jewel. He would definitely fit in my fuck-on-the-beach fantasy.

The oldest of six kids, I learned early that a fist or a smile could get me out of almost any sticky situation. My swing is what got me out of the sticks for good. Now I'm in the spotlight, playing in the big leagues, and the club's owner wants me to be the club's spokesperson. I just need to deal with the bossy woman who runs the show. His daughter. Camille Rivers is the heir to the richest man in America. She's the most stubborn woman I’ve met in my life. With all her wealth and manners, you would think she'd be a little nicer to her daddy's star player. Spoiled and prissy, daddy's little princess is everything I should stay away from. The problem is, I just can't keep my hands off her. I think she's playing hard to get because she likes me. She thinks it's because I'm a horse’s rear end. I bounced on the balls of my feet, waiting for the next lob. I had the tennis machine set on random so I wouldn't always know when to expect the next ball. Otherwise it was too easy. I didn't like easy. I liked to be challenged. And I liked to win. I swung hard, hitting the ball to just inside the baseline of our private court. I grinned, waiting for the next ball. Then I did it again, with expert precision. I still took lessons from the club's tennis pro now and then, but now it was just to keep my edge. Besides, he said I could give him lessons at this point. "Need some help with that?" I turned sharply at the sound of his voice. Cade Dupree. The damn man had been haunting my dreams all week and now he was here. I glared at him, ready to tell him to go to hell. "Look out!" I jumped out of the way just as the ball came careening towards me. I watched as Cade walked to the other side of the court and turned the machine off, rubbing my neck with a clean towel. He came back over and leaned against the fence, looking supremely relaxed. "Mr. Dupree." "Ms. Rivers." He was staring at me with unconcealed lust. "Damn girl you look good in that short skirt." "It's a tennis dress." He grinned at me stupidly. "I like it." Something about the way he was looking at me annoyed me, but didn't offend me the way that it normally would have. He wasn't looking at me like a piece of meat exactly. It was more like I was a ten course meal and he was a starving man. I did want to smack him though. "May I help you with something? Or do you always sneak around, interrupting hapless women who are trying to play tennis?" He gave me a hurt look. I snorted. I didn't buy it for a second. "Your father invited me to dinner. " I smiled sweetly. "He has a thing for strays." I wiped down my racket and slid it into its case. "But I don't." "I'm real sorry to hear that ma'am." I rolled my eyes, scooping up my bag. "Since you are obviously lost, I will show you the way." "I'm not lost." He wiggled his eyebrows at me. He was so ridiculous I almost laughed, but I didn't want to encourage him. "Darlin' I have been found." Now that did make me laugh. I couldn't help it. I smothered it quickly, forcing myself to give him a dirty look. He just chuckled and followed me to the house. Just when I thought he couldn't get any more annoying he managed to do just that. Cade Dupree was whistling.

Cover Reveal for Joanna Blake!

GObigreveal
Cover RevealTitle: Go BigAuthor: Joanna BlakeCover Model: Chase KetronCover Designer: LJ Anderson of Mayhem Cover CreationsRelease Date: Summer 2016 GoBig-4

synopsis GO BIG OR GO HOME. That’s how I live and how I play. With baseball, with women… I’m always the biggest player on the field. I grew up poor. Dirt poor. Either way, she doesn't complain too much when I'm kissing her. She’s used to getting what she wants. Then again, so am I. And I want her.

Please go to https://kindlescout.amazon.com/p/3VU1JGW3JKOP0 and vote for Moonlight’s Peril, a story that many of you have supported during its creation. I couldn’t have done this alone. I can’t thank you enough for all your love and encouragement. Voting runs from June 2nd until July 2nd, 2016.  Kindle Scout is the opportunity for my never-before-published novel to receive editing, marketing, and a contract with Kindle Press. If Moonlight’s Peril is a book readers wants Amazon will give my novel the royal treatment.  But it won’t happen without you. For your time, you’ll get a copy of my book if it is published by Kindle Press. Thank you in advance.
What’s this book about? Here’s the blurb:
Bianca Archer watched her thirteen-year-old daughter leave on a camping trip to reconnect with an absentee father. When his body is found and her daughter is missing Bianca’s life stops. She’s sure the local off-the-grid commune took her child. Law Foster has a pack to protect. Helping nosey Bianca jeopardizes his duty. Bianca isn’t part of his world and that makes her a very dangerous woman to want. When she witnesses Law’s shift, he has to make a choice—bite her or trust her.
Author QA

What was the hardest part of writing this book?
I’m a mom and I work two jobs. My daughter has some health challenges that inspired what happens to Chessa, the heroine’s teenage daughter. Taking care of my family is my top priority, but my soul needs and craves the release of writing. This is my therapy. Every time I write a book, I know I am asking strangers to invest the precious leisure time they scrape out of the day and a part of his or her entertainment budget. I want to write the best book I can for that amazing person who is giving me such a big gift. Being a writer is like getting a hug from a stranger every day. I want to hug them back by crafting a story worth reading. As a reader, I take solace in the escape into a story. If the author’s work is subpar, my experience suffers. I don’t want that for my readers. I know how essential the reading experience is to the soul. I can’t do much to make the world better than I found it, but I hope my books can enhance someone’s life each day.

When did you decide to become a writer?I’ve been an avid reader since I was eleven. The summer I turned twelve I pestered everyone to bring me to the library, but no one would. We lived in the country and it was a trek to the nearest library. My grandmother dumped a huge bag of harlequin romances at my feet and said, “There’s your library.” Looking back I’m shocked she’d corrupt me like that, but I was hooked on romance quickly. I’ve been devouring every romance novel I can get my hands on ever since. A year later I decided I could write a romance novel. Imagine The Blue Lagoon meets Star Wars, it was terrible, but my cousins loved it. They were my first fans and encouraged me to keep writing. When I was thirty I had the standard, I’m not immortal epiphany. I decided it was time to find a publisher and I did. I’ve had over sixty stories published in the last seven years, but this is my first self-published book. Anything else I’ve self-published was a reprint when my rights reverted back. What I love about writing is that I am never able to say I’ve mastered it. My prose improves with every book. I love the challenge of topping the last book. I never compete with anyone but myself.
This book is part of a series tell us about your series.
This is the first book in my Moonlight Series. I’ve created a small Wisconsin town where most of the residence are werewolves. I’ve combined some old Indian legends and fringe archeology to give my werewolves an interesting creation myth. In this series, if you’re bitten by a werewolf you die unless you have a werewolf ancestor on the family tree. The series highlights several couples and the struggles they have for survival and love, but Law Foster and Bianca Archer are in every book. Bianca’s awakening to the truth of Wild Rose Valley is the heart of this series. I really love these characters and I hope you do too.

Amber Morgan visits today with her new MC book!

Hello!  Thank you so much for visiting Written Butterfly with me today!
Thank you for having me!
Q) Is this book part of a series?  If so, can you tell us about it?
Yes, this is book two in my Wild Blood MC series. Book one was Tanner's War ( http://tinyurl.com/ztpns44 ). In that, I introduced my gang of bikers and the conflicts and loyalties that shape their lives. In Wolf's Hunt, I've hopefully given a deeper insight into the guys, as well as set up some future plots! I'm enjoying writing the books so much, and don't want to stop any time soon! The relationships (both between the men and their women, and between the MC members themselves) are really compelling to me, and hopefully will be to readers too.

Q) Can you give a fun or interesting fact about your book?
Hmm, why not both? Interesting fact – Wolf's Hunt ended up being over twice as long as Tanner's War, which caught me off-guard! Fun fact – New Orleans, where the  bulk of the book is set, is my dream holiday destination. I would love to visit there one day, and it was very cool researching it for the book.

Q) Do you plan all your characters out before you start a story or do they develop as you write?
I'm a total pantser. I have a rough idea of how the characters and stories will develop, but I'm always surprised by something along the way! There are two side characters in particular in Wolf's Hunt who are now crying out for their own stories, and that was definitely not the plan!

Q) What are your upcoming projects?

I have plans for several more books in the Wild Blood series, and hope to start book 3 soon. I've also got a couple of short stories in the works unrelated to this series (one paranormal, one NA/contemporary). I also write urban fantasy under another name, so I always have a couple of projects on the go! The hard part is usually deciding which one to work on next...

Excerpt
He didn't wait for her to change her mind. Lust and longing surged through him and he stood, pulling her up into his arms. She fell against him with a cry that ignited Wolf's fiercest feelings. He didn't just want to kiss her. He wanted her. Wanted to claim her, wanted to make it plain to everyone and anyone that Clea Allary was his, still, now, and always. He took her mouth roughly, running his hands down her back to cup her ass and pull her in hard against him. She clutched at his t-shirt, grabbing handfuls of it as if it was the only thing holding her up, and she whimpered his name against his lips. It drove him wild. That little sound was like a jolt of adrenaline, and it traveled directly to his cock, hardening him almost to the point of pain.Their kiss was hard, desperate, almost a battle of wills, as if Clea was eager to stamp her ownership on him too. She shoved her hands under his t-shirt, raked her nails down his back. Wolf hivered in pleasure and squeezed her ass in answer. She writhed against him, nibbling at his lips. The feel of her hands on his bare skin was too much for Wolf. He tried to push his hands down the back of her jeans, but they were skin-tight and he broke away from the kiss with a curse. Clea laughed at him."Giving up already?" Her eyes sparkled with amusement and desire.Wolf brushed her hair back from her face, drinking in that look. His heart swelled and his entire body ached with need for her. He'd never thought he'd get that look from her again. "Never again. Not when it comes to you." He reinforced his words with another kiss, then gave her a gentle push, forcing her to sit back down on the bed.Once again he knelt before her, hands gliding up and down her thighs as he studied her face. Her cheeks were flushed, her lips invitingly swollen from his kisses. Her breasts heaved under the t-shirt he'd given as she caught her breath. He didn't plan to let her recover so soon, but he wanted to be sure before he did anything else that she knew there was no turning back now. "Tell me you want this," he said. "I can't walk out of here, do what I have to do, without taking a piece of you with me."She licked her lips, a nervous gesture, and he wondered if she'd still do it if she knew it made him want to jump on her. For a second he thought she'd turn him away – and he would have gone, but damn, it would have been agony to do it. Then she smiled coyly...
