WHEN YOU ACT LIKE JESUS
I know your dreams. They are gifts from Me put in your heart before time began. It’s time to put away childish things and rise up. Your full potential has yet to be reached.
WHEN YOU ACT LIKE JESUSYou and I weren’t made to live our lives in comfort and safety attending Bible studies and planning potlucks. Nope. Jesus made you to be the solution to someone else’s problem.
You see, in the wilderness, God is the solution to all your problems. You just follow Him and He takes care of you. While that sounds great to a lot of you, it really isn’t. It’s like being a child who never grows up. It’s actually a curse to act like a kid when you’re a grown man.
You were designed for the Promised Land. You were made for conquest and construction. You take territory from the enemy and build on it because, in the Promised Land, you are the solution.
In your lives you must think and act like Christ Jesus. Christ himself was like God in everything. But he did not think that being equal with God was something to be used for his own benefit. – Philippians 2:5-6
He says, “I send you out as lambs among wolves.” He doesn’t send you into safe places where you can figure everything out. He sends you into deep places and He’s trusting you to be rock-solid about His love toward you and yours toward Him – even when you don’t have a clue what you’re doing.
Here’s what’s real: It’s OK to be clueless when you’re off your map and into uncharted territory. Never prophesied over a stranger before? It’s OK. Just do it and Jesus will give you the words. Never laid hands on the sick and declared healing in Jesus’ name? It’s OK. The results are God’s, not yours.
Comfort kills and safety swallows hopes and dreams. Step into the Promised Land and be the solution someone else has been waiting for. They’ll see Jesus when you act like Jesus.

ANYTHING LESS
I love it when My children seek My counsel. I formed your identity. I mapped out your destiny and I know the way home. Come to Me with your requests and I will give you the desires I put in your heart.
ANYTHING LESSYour life is really a big deal and it needs to be lived well. God is trusting you to live the abundant life He paid for you to live.
There’s a big difference between an epic life and a nominal life. Epic means heroic, majestic, impressively great. Nominal means existing in name only, very small. And what’s real is, it’s up to you if your walk with Jesus is epic or if it is nominal.
Because God gave you free will to love Him or not, He also gave you free will to decide how much of Him and His blessings you want. It’s up to you. It’s not up to anybody else.
You can have the kind of walk with Jesus that provokes people to jealousy or you can be the kind of Christian that causes people to hate Christianity. It’s up to you. You choose.
My friend, once you declare you love Jesus, once you take on the name of Christ and call yourself a Christian, you’re under the world’s microscope. Unbelievers are watching – just waiting to criticize any mistake or misstep just like the dreaded Russian judge at the Olympics.
Instead of a low score, the world is waiting to brand you a hypocrite in the hope you believe their assessment. However, if you’re living an epic life full of God’s promises, you should know your identity.
When you know who you are to Jesus – and hypocrite isn’t in his vocabulary – you understand your purpose and go after your destiny. That’s an epic life. Do you have time or energy for anything less?
God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us. – Acts 17:27

CLEAN SLATE 3: REDEMPTION CHANGES EVERYTHING
Sunday, Jan. 16, 2022
Pastor Troy Brewer, OpenDoor Church, Burleson, Texas
I heard Pastor Jerry Shirley say this week, instead of making a resolution to be skinny this year, he had just decided to live and be FAT.
BE F.A.T. IN 2022 : FAITHFUL. AVAILABLE. TEACHABLE .
A clean slate. A second chance. A do-over.
2 Corinthians 5:17 – Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
Hebrews 10:25 – “Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.”
Redemption: It’s the center theme of the entire Bible. It’s the prophetic story the heavens declare to the Glory of God. It’s what Jesus Christ came to bring and who He himself became. REDEMPTION!
“Redemption is the act of buying something back; paying a price or ransom to return something to your possession.”
Redemption is the English translation of the Greek word agorazo, meaning “to purchase in the marketplace.” In ancient times, it often referred to the act of buying a slave. It carried the meaning of freeing someone from chains, prison, or slavery. – Jack Zavada at ThoughtCo.com
The New Bible Dictionary gives this definition: “Redemption means deliverance from some evil by payment of a price.”
Now think about that amazing definition for a bit. “Deliverance from some evil by payment of a price.” It’s all about confronting the things that own us.
Redemption changes ownership
And when things move from the Kingdom of hell to the Kingdom of Heaven, the King of Kings gets to have His glorious dominion and his will on earth as it is in heaven.
Redemption is beautiful because our redeemer is beautiful.
The power of Redemption is an awesome power God brings to the table. The power to buy back those of us enslaved isn’t paid for with money. Redemption is when Jesus brings Jesus to the table. Only Jesus could redeem us.
Psalms 49:6-9 – Those who trust in their wealth and boast in the multitude of their riches, 7 none of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him— 8 for the redemption of their souls is costly, and it shall cease forever 9 that he should continue to live eternally, and not see the Pit.
Redemption is single most wonderful and precious “thing” inside or outside of the created Universe.
REDEMPTION CHANGES EVERYTHING . NOT JUST OVER TIME, BUT FOR ALL TIME.
Psalms 103:12 – As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from you.
Time and space (distance) are in perfect continuum. When God says He has removed our transgression from all distance, (East to west) He is also saying Redemption overcomes all time, from the beginning to the end.
WHY NOT FROM THE NORTH TO THE SOUTH? THERE ARE POLES–ENDING POINTS. IT’S ABOUT A 2,000 MILE JOURNEY. I DRIVE THAT FAR IN A WEEK’S TIME. THAT MEANS IT WOULD BE EASY FOR US TO PICK THEM BACK UP AGAIN.
There is nothing created that redemption doesn’t change.
Redemption is what happens when Jesus steps onto any scene and has His amazing way. It’s what He brings every time to everything in time.
Redemption changes lost people to family, hated people to celebrated, wicked people to Holy. Redemption changes leprous bodies to perfect human specimens. Redemption brings enslaved people into freedom and transforms dead things into living things.
Through the transformational power of redemption, messed up minds become gifted for learning; shameful and pitiful people become honored and confident.
This is because of the spotless and pure LIFE of Jesus Christ.
The blood is the life (Leviticus 17:11). His blood is the essence of His life and it was spent and poured out to pay the terrible price of our filth so we would no longer be slaves to sin.
1 Peter 1:18-19 – …knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot
THE REDEEMER BRINGS IT: At His very first sermon, Jesus quoted the prophet Isaiah and delivered His mission statement of bringing redemption.
Luke 4:18 – The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised
Now, when the Spirit of the Lord is upon you, that IS different than Him being with you or in you. The Spirit upon you is an anointing for a specific action to accomplish something or to do something amazing.
What was Christ, which means anointed one, anointed to do?
1. By redemption, reach the poor, and people who had never been granted access.
2. By redemption, heal the broken hearted, bring hope and love of life to people who had been broken.
3. By redemption, set captives free, by redemption
4. By redemption, restore sight and understanding to the blind.
5. By redemption, set people free from the things that beat them up, or as the King James boys say, “to set at liberty them that are bruised.” Bruised is when you are beat up on the inside and wounded is when you are beat up on the outside. Jesus did all this by paying a price that only He could pay.
THE EXCHANGE OF REDEMPTION: If redemption declares we are not guilty, that means none of the penalties of sin or lawlessness are allowed to chain us or enslave us. No shame, guilt or feeling the horrible dishonor of deserved judgment belongs to us once redemption comes.
Christ’s redemption has freed us from guilt, being “justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus” (Romans 3:24).
At the same time, another declaration is proclaimed. Redemption also declares we are worthy of the gifts, rewards and benefits of being Holy.
The benefits of redemption include:
Eternal life (Revelation 5:9-10) Forgiveness of sins (Ephesians 1:7)Righteousness (Romans 5:17) Freedom from the law’s curse (Galatians 3:13) Freedom from guilt and shame (Romans 3:24)Freedom from accusation (John 8:11)Complete justification (Romans 3:24)Adoption into God’s family (Galatians 4:5)To be redeemed, then, is to be forgiven, made holy, justified, free, adopted, and reconciled. See also Psalm 130:7-8; Luke 2:38; and Acts 20:28.
So, you have to make a big deal out of redemption. Take a moment and consider how redemption changes you.
If you are going to have a true revelation of God’s heart toward you, you must have a true revelation of God’s gift and acts of redemption toward you.
Psalm 103:2 – Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits
THE BIG HEADLINE:
Redemption is the ultimate game-changer. Redemption is God’s plan for transforming all created things. Redemption is what Jesus brings when He’s invited into place and changes everything.
What this means to you:
If you can believe in the power of redemption, you can believe in the power of transformation.
The act of changing common well water into the best wine you ever tasted is exactly what an act of redemption looks like.
This, the very first miracle of the 37 biblically recorded miracles of King Jesus, shows us exactly what Jesus was supernatural commissioned, or anointed, to bring into our lives.
He changed something common into something extraordinary. He changed a place and a time of sadness into place and time of great joy. He changed a situation from having not near enough into having way more than enough.
He changed a shameful situation of lack and disappointment into a highly honorable situation of opulence and dreams coming true. And all this at the setting of a covenant wedding.
When redemption changes the time, redemption changes everything within that time from a curse to a blessing.
Redemption offers you a clean slate. YOUR DESTINY IS GREATER THAN YOUR HISTORY!

THE COVER OVER YOU
Mercy and truth have met together; Righteousness and peace have kissed. Truth shall spring out of the earth, and righteousness shall look down from heaven. Surely, My salvation is near those who trust Me.
THE COVER OVER YOUIntimacy is supposed to be covered. Intimacy is those places in your heart that are reserved for those in covenant with you. You don’t just let everyone in your life have the same access to your heart because most of those people cannot be trusted.
Why? Not everyone deserves equal access to your heart because they’re not in covenant with you.
A covenant is a spiritual agreement or pledge that goes deeper than any legal contract ever could. When you say, “I do,” you’re not just entering into a legal contract that “what’s mine is yours and what’s yours is mine.” You’re entering into a covenant that says, “I will love and shield you know matter what your past or future holds. I will not leave you uncovered.”
Just like that, it’s very important that you understand Kingdom intimacy is private, privileged and exclusive disclosure of secret things based upon covenant and trust.
Your Bridegroom Jesus has some things He would like to trust you with – your identity and purpose. He also has some things He wants to disclose to you – like your destiny. That’s your place in His heart and in His Kingdom.
In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. – John 14:2-3
Jesus has made a place for you in His heart and in Heaven above that only you can fill. Nobody else. Have you given Him the same kind of place in your heart? Reserve some places in your life for Jesus. Invite Him in and let Him be the cover over you.

HE’S GOT YOUR SIX
I have given you abundant life through My Spirit within you. Why do you look for other sources? I Am a well springing up inside you bringing living water. Never thirst again. Look to Me. I Am your source.
HE’S GOT YOUR SIXExodus tells us the Hebrew slaves spent 40 years wandering around in the wilderness due to their mumbling and grumbling. They refused to put their trust in God and they paid a heavy price because of it.
In the Promised Land, you need to trust God or wander around lost and discontented just like they did.
“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths.” – Proverbs 3:5-6
Grumbling against God is easy. The default of your sin nature is to blame someone else. It takes a right mind, and it takes faith and trust to move past the need to point a finger at God and say, “You let this happen” or “What did I do to deserve this, God?”
You know God’s character, His goodness. So, why, when the chips are down and things aren’t going your way, do you believe He is punishing you or has sent sickness or a financial blow to cripple you? You do know God’s not in the punishment business, right?
“But Pastor Troy, I’m a good Christian and I believe, but so many bad things happen to me. It seems like one thing after another so it’s hard for me to trust God when He says He’ll fight my battles. I feel like I’m on the battlefield wandering around lost and alone.”
First off, your feelings are liars. Don’t listen to them. Trust that He’ll fight your battles in every wilderness of your life. You just need to keep following Him. Once you learn the lesson that He is good and He is not the problem, He’ll point you to the Promised Land.
In the Promised Land, God doesn’t lead you. He backs you up. He’s on the battlefield. He’s waiting for you to step out in faith because He’s got your “six.” Stand on the word of God. Trust Him. He will make a way where there was no way. I take comfort in that and I trust Him. Do you?

RESPOND TO HIS LOVE
I know the real you. You cannot pretend with Me. I see you and I love you no matter what others say or believe. Surrender to me and I will bring you peace and belonging. Come to Me and I will give you rest.
RESPOND TO HIS LOVEThe same way you entered into salvation is the same way Jesus expects you to walk out your salvation the rest of your life. I love that.
You know, He wants you to respond to love. He wants you to respond to the passion of the Father that He has toward you. First love is truly knowing the heart of the Father for you. It’s about being restored and responding to God’s passion for us.
First love is not about performance. It’s about the passion He has for His Son Jesus Christ being lived out through you. The Bible says when we trust Christ, symbolically and spiritually speaking, we are put into Christ and Christ is put into us.
“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name…” – John 1:12
There’s a transfer. Not only does His love transfer, His passion transfers from His Son to you and me. Another word for passion is “zeal.” Zeal is all about enthusiasm, eagerness, fervor, ardor and being committed in a crazy cool way.
If God is that passionate about us, our response should be full of passion. I don’t know about you, but I entered into salvation with eagerness to know God and I was committed to following Him the rest of my life. I’m still doing that.
What about you? Are you zealous for God? Look back at how you entered into the Kingdom and respond to His love because He is love.

REVIVAL WILL FOLLOW
I having given you the ability to choose. Choose life. Choose My ways and pursue revival among My people. I will be the strength in your weakness.
REVIVAL WILL FOLLOWHere’s something crazy cool that I’ve noticed about the Lord: He strengthens us in the places where we pursue Him. We need to pursue revival and we need to go after that and get consecrated toward it.
“Blessed is the man whose strength is in You, Whose heart is set on pilgrimage.” – Psalms 84:5
We need to be people who believe the power of revival will show up because we are pursuing it. We need to believe it, walk it out, become consecrated to it, and unplug ourselves from every distraction.
The point is, God blesses pursuit concerning His kingdom. Chances are, if you’re reading this, you’re sitting down. You sat in that chair because you believed it would hold you. Some of you may have tested it first, pushing on it or wiggling it around a bit. However, I’m guessing some didn’t check it at all. I didn’t.
This is the kind of belief we need when it comes to God’s word. Believe revival, and the power it holds is coming. Pursue it as you ‘pursued’ sitting in that chair. Step into the confidence of your authority. Chase after the Kingdom with all you have knowing He will be your strength. Peter did.
He was walking on the water when he lost focus on Jesus. He was distracted and began to sink. Do you know what else happened? Jesus was right there and to grab him. Keep your eyes on Jesus and revival will follow.

YOUR END SHALL BE PEACE
You are My beloved. When you seek My face, My ways, and My will for your life, you will find your true self. You were made to be My bride. Meet Me in the secret place and encounter My goodness.
YOUR END SHALL BE PEACEAre you determined to make your life epic or nominal? Not only is your life a really big deal and needs to be lived well, you need to be well prepared for your big finish.
What I’m saying is this: not only can you live an epic life instead of a nominal life, you can live your life toward an epic finish. You can live knowing you’re going to pass something down that wasn’t passed down to you – or at least a better version of what was passed down to you.
My friend, you want to live life being determined to know how your finish is going to glorify the Lord. You don’t randomly finish well.
It doesn’t just randomly happen that you finish well. People who finish well are bound and determined. They plan out how they’re going to finish and they partner with the Lord to fulfill every step of their identity, purpose, and destiny.
You know, God already has a plan for you to finish well. We all know this verse,
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” – Jeremiah 29:11
The word “thoughts” is interchangeable with “plans” and the Lord has a crazy big plan for you. How do you find it? By tapping into your identity – finding out who He says you are and sticking with it. Once you know who you are, you’ll begin to understand your purpose and that leads to your destiny – your fullness or perfection.
Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright; for the end of that man is peace. – Psalms 37:37
Determine your end shall be peace. That’s what glorifies God.

HIDE AND SEEK
I have not hidden My ways or Myself from you. I Am always present, but you must seek Me – invite Me to be involved with your day. When you look for Me and My benefits, I can bless you.
HIDE AND SEEKTo seek means “to pursue until you see something.” What is it we’re supposed to seek? The Kingdom. The place of “sovereign rule and royal power” where the King has dominion.
When you give God dominion over your life, you’re seeing to it that you give God power and His rightful place in every situation. That’s the “sovereign rule” in the “King-dom” where the King has dominion.
My friend, you need to pursue His power and dominion in every every part of your life – every situation – until you finally see it. You need to go after that in an incredible way.
You know what? Jesus is counting on you to say, “I’m not god, but I know who is” and give Him dominion over your life. Pursue until you see the power of God within your life and let God Almighty rule and reign.
The result of this is Kingdom expansion. To do this, you not only need to get past your offenses, but get past the “I don’t wanna’s.” Offense and “I-don’t wanna” kills people and prevents them from seeing the goodness of God.
Hear me on this: That’s not you! You are going to refuse to get offended. You are going to let things roll off you and not offend you. You are going to get up off the couch and accomplish vision because you’re a seeker and seekers find.
What do seekers find? The Prince of Peace, King of Kings and Lord of Lords. They find Jesus.
And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their pre-appointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings, so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us… – Acts 17:26-27
