GOD HATES POVERTY
I declare in Jesus’ name,
God is pouring out His goodness on me today. What God has given, no man can take. I freely give his goodness to others and bring glory to his name!
GOD HATES POVERTYHave you ever wondered why Jesus said, “The poor you will always have with you”?
He could have abolished poverty when He was here on earth, but He didn’t. He’s left that job for you and me. That’s why the poor will always be with us because most of us are too selfish, lazy or just plain oblivious to help them!
That’s not me. God gave me a heart for the poor, especially children.
In the first few years of our church, there was a beautiful little girl named Angel who really touched the heart of my wife, Leanna. Angel’s family was really struggling financially and we were reaching out to them in any way we could. Then came Christmas.
We had decided to bless her and her siblings with a very special Christmas, so we asked her to pray with us about it. In the cutest little voice I have ever heard, she said, “Jesus, please give me a nice Hannah Montana dress and God bless Hannah Montana.”
Obviously, we were going to get her something Hannah Montana, but we didn’t have to, because the goodness of God showed up about three days later. Our local Wal-Mart Distribution Center donated a truck of toys and you already know what they were – Hannah Montana hats, underwear socks, dresses, pants, shirts, sunglasses, lunch boxes…the list goes on!
Yes, a 52-foot semi trailer showed up filled with all things Hannah Montana at the supernatural request of one little girl. Before I gave it away, I let her pick out whatever and as much as she wanted. Good overcomes the evil of child poverty.
Then He said, “I will make all My goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim the name of the Lord before you. I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.” – Exodus 33:17-20
When I say spiritual authority shows up when we humble ourselves to serve the poor, I know what I’m talking about. Goodness is such a big deal that God’s response is lavish and over the top.
TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO MAKE YOUR REQUEST AND BELIEVE GOD TO SHOW UP AND SHOW OFF AS HIS GOODNESS PASSES BEFORE YOU!

GOODNESS CHANGES THE ATMOSPHERE
I declare in Jesus’ name you see my mess. You are shining the light of your glory onto my situation. You have given me shalom, peace, and the authority to break the spirit of chaos. I proclaim SHALOM! Peace! Be still!
GOODNESS CHANGES THE ATMOSPHEREWhen you get good at setting the atmosphere, you begin to recognize sweet or sour atmospheres really quick.
It’s amazing to me where goodness shows up. It might surprise you, but goodness likes to turn up in a mess. It actually thrives in chaos! Why? Because goodness will always oppose evil and evil is overcome because goodness wants to advance.
Goodness doesn’t tolerate evil and evil slinks back into the hole it crawled out of when goodness shows up. Just like light is superior to darkness, goodness is far superior to evil. When goodness shows up and tears darkness apart, it tends to be messy.
And God saw light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. – Genesis 1:4
While God loves to be in the addition and multiplication business, when it comes to confronting darkness with light, He drops His supernatural math into the division business. God moves darkness out of the way and displaces it with the goodness of light. BOOM!
TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO CONFRONT DARKNESS WITH THE GOODNESS OF LIGHT. IT WILL BE MESSY, BUT IT WILL ALSO BE WORTH IT!

THE GOOD GUYS
I declare in Jesus’ name that God’s glory will surround me this day. I accept the challenge to stand against evil in this dark day. I will run this race with a sound of triumph!
THE GOOD GUYSSome of my favorite historical heroes are warriors who stood up against the momentum and rising surge of evil in their day. Call me silly, but I want to stand with those guys and I want to be connected to a church body who does the same.
I want to shoot cover for Davy Crocket swinging his empty musket and screaming from the walls of the Alamo. I want to help William Wallace defeat the evil King Longshanks and actually dare to invade England. I want to support Wellington chasing down the tyrant Napoleon.
I love it when the good guys confront the bad guys and all hell breaks loose. I want to ride shotgun with Sam Houston over the rise of San Jacinto straight toward the tent of the cruel dictator Santa Anna. Why?
Because there is actually GLORY to the confrontation of evil. A dangerous glory, but I want it! Warriors have always sniffed the winds of glory on the holy grounds of terrible conflict. Can you see it in tiny Miss Rosa Parks or Harriet Tubman?
Goodness should be your battle cry. You should be willing to fight for what is right and good. Unfortunately, many of us cower hoping someone else will do the dirty work – and it is dirty work! You are mistaken when you look away saying it’s not your responsibility or even your right to step in.
God says it’s your duty to battle on the behalf of the widow, the orphan, the sojourner, the poor, the sick, the oppressed. First, we battle in prayer, then we jump into the direct fight.
A friend of mine was jogging when she witnessed a group of teenagers circled up. There was a ruckus and from what she could see, it was a pretty bloody fight. She didn’t keep jogging or call the police so they could show up five minutes later when the damage was done. All 110 pounds of her ran over, stepped in to the fray and shouted, “Jesus does not want you to do this!” She shouted it three times with her hands held high in holy surrender and suddenly – silence. The fighting stopped, the group dispersed and she, being a nurse, tended to the wounds, physical and spiritual, of the bully’s target. You can too.
TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO TAKE ON HELL WITH A WATER PISTOL. STAND AGAINST EVIL AND TAKE GOODNESS TO THE FIGHT. IT WILL BE MESSY, BUT GOD’S GLORY WILL TURN DARKNESS TO LIGHT!

GOD THE GAME-CHANGER
I declare in Jesus’ name that I am a Kingdom advancer. I will not look back. I will move forward like a bulldozer breaking up hard ground, moving and exposing new territories. You, Lord, are extending my harvest field for you!
GOD THE GAME-CHANGERMost of us have heard of the 16 God names in the Old Testament including Jehovah Jireh, the Lord is our Provider; or Jehovah Rapha, the Lord is our Healer. However, few have heard of Jehovah Nissi.
Jehovah Nissi, means the Lord is our Banner, and the banner it’s referring to is the flag on a battlefield. If you want to win the battle for upgrade and momentum, you need to learn to call on Jehovah Nissi.
Jehovah Nissi is the game-changing side of the Lord. He is the momentum changer.
The Lord is our Banner speaks of a battlefield where suddenly, the momentum swings in your favor because the King’s banner has entered the fray. It means the King Himself is fighting the fight!
Everything changes when you can see Jesus on your battlefield. It is from that momentum that you pick up your sword, get off the ground and scream in the face of the enemy again – think Braveheart!
When it comes down to it, the forceful part of moving forward in the Kingdom is to be taken head-on – never from your flanks or behind, so there’s no need to cover your butt because your armor is for living life forward. Read Ephesians chapter six and you’ll see the “full armor of God” covers everything but your backside.
Why? Because moving forward, upgrade, progression, momentum – they are not for people who turn their backs to see what’s behind them. You and I are not meant to be Lott’s wife, looking back in longing of what she was leaving behind. We are to be the warrior Bride of Christ – positioned to move forward and win the battle under the banner of the King!
TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO CALL ON JEHOVAH NISSI. LET HIM ENTER YOUR BATTLEFIELD AND CHANGE THE MOMENTUM FOR YOUR VICTORY – YOUR UPGRADE!

Mother’s Day & Baby Dedication
Pastor Troy Brewer, OpenDoor Church, Burleson, TX
Sunday, May 8, 2022
Just as Hannah, the mother of Samuel, dedicated her son to the Lord (1 Samuel 1) and Mary presented Jesus to God (Luke 1:21-38), we encourage our families to commit their children to God and to commit to raising them with His help.
WHY DEDICATION? BECAUSE THERE COMES A TIME WHEN YOU (Sanctify) MAKE YOUR MARK FOR REMEMBRANCE THAT THIS BELONGS TO THE LORD.
“By this you will know scriptures” or “by this you will remember scriptures.”
“They piled up stones and marked it on their calendar.”
WHY DEDICATION? BECAUSE NOTHING IN THE KINGDOM HAPPENS WITHOUT PROCLAMATION.
THE POWER OF PROCLAMATION IS ONE OF THE GREATEST WEAPONS GOD GIVES US TO BE OVERCOMERS. Everything God does, He does through declaring it to be so and then making the world line up and bow down to His declaration.
One of the greatest ways we see heaven invade earth is when we speak and declare a word over a life or over a situation that was once only in the heart. Put there by the Holy Spirit Himself, we bring that word out into this realm and onto these lives by the word we speak.
Psalms 127:1 – Unless the LORD builds the house, the builders labor in vain
MOTHER’S DAY: About 50 years ago, president Woodrow Wilson decided that we should all honor our moms and the holiday we know as Mother’s Day was put into affect right here in the USA.
About 3500 years before that on the other side of the world, a man named Moses came down from a mountain with two tablets of stone hewn out by the hand of God himself.
There were 10 Commandments that all the people of Israel had to keep.
The top 10 of 613 laws according to priority, and it’s mind-blowing that in a day when women were treated like cattle or common property throughout the cultures of the world,
that this Kingdom culture was established that the 5th most important rule or commandment was that we should honor our mother and our father.
In the Kingdom, women are honored.
In the Kingdom, you don’t leave the lady out.
God loves to include women in his promises.
Even our own culture dismissed the notion that motherhood is a big deal.
Even though the cultures of the world have historically dismissed such foolishness
YOU DON’T NEED WOMEN FOR THINGS TO WORK OUT RIGHT (WHAT EVER).
We battle that notion from the top of corporate structures all the way down to the cartoons we watch as kids.
Nemo doesn’t have a mom.
Pinochio, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Peter Pan, Cinderella,
Arial the little mermaid, Pocahontas, Bell from beauty and the beast–none of these have a mama.
Jasmin from Aladdin, Mouglie from the Jungle Book,
Jane in Tarzan–They don’t have a mama.
Lilo from Lilo and Stitch doesn’t have a mama.
Boo, the little girl in “Monsters Incorporated,” doesn’t have a mama.
The idea is that kids turn out just fine without a mama and the role of mom is really not that big of deal–that’s in this culture right here, right now.
As I said, Even though the cultures of the world have historically dismissed such foolishness, while the world loves to leave moms out, God loves to include women in everything he does.
FAITH POINT #1: Moms are supernaturally anointed to make a powerful impact on their child’s life.
By the time a child reaches 18, a mother has had to handle some extra 18,000 hours of child-generated work. In fact, women who never have children enjoy the equivalent of an extra three months a year in leisure time!
The impact that a mother has on her child is just as significant in one season as it is in another because a big role of mom is to be the healer. When we don’t feel good, we go to mom.
“Who loved me when I fell? Kissed my hurt and made it well, and then would some nice story tell?” My mama.
The power in the punch that a mama carries that nobody else in the world can carry is the power of influence from season to season within a child’s life.
When a mama has a right mind, she is there to influence and to participate in every season within a child’s life.
MARY WHEN GABRIEL ANNOUNCED THAT JESUS WOULD BE BORN
WHEN JESUS WAS BORN
WHEN THEY FLED TO EGYPT
WHEN HE CONFRONTED THE PHARISEES AT THE AGE OF 12
WHEN HE DID HIS VERY FIRST MIRACLE AT THE AGE OF THIRTY
MARY WAS THERE WHEN JESUS WAS ON THE CROSS
Acts 1:14 – They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.
FAITH POINT #2: Mothers are supernaturally anointed to bring healing in every season.
MAMA, YOUR PRAYERS MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
God has a plan for your CHILD’S life, and He wants to heal you everywhere you hurt. John 10:10 says that Jesus came to give us abundant life, and part of that abundant life is making sure you are healthy and whole—physically, spiritually, mentally and emotionally.
FAITH POINT #3: Mothers are supernaturally anointed for timing
(The Boy Jesus Amazes the Scholars) Luke 2:41-52 – His parents went to Jerusalem every year at the Feast of the Passover. 42 And when He was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem according to the custom of the feast. 43 When they had finished the days, as they returned, the Boy Jesus lingered behind in Jerusalem. And Joseph and His mother did not know it; 44 but supposing Him to have been in the company, they went a day’s journey, and sought Him among their relatives and acquaintances. 45 So when they did not find Him, they returned to Jerusalem, seeking Him. 46 Now so it was that after three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions. 47 And all who heard Him were astonished at His understanding and answers. 48 So when they saw Him, they were amazed; and His mother said to Him, “Son, why have You done this to us? Look, Your father and I have sought You anxiously.” 49 And He said to them, “Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?” 50 But they did not understand the statement which He spoke to them. 51 Then He went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was subject to them, but His mother kept all these things in her heart. 52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.
Moms handle these kinds of things a whole lot better than dads do. Moms are better at timing than dads.
LET’S LOOK AT ANOTHER
John 2:1-5 – On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. 2 Now both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding. 3 And when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, “They have no wine.”
4 Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does your concern have to do with Me? My hour has not yet come.”
5 His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.”
I want to applaud you mothers who take the task seriously of making a spiritual impact in the lives of your children. As Proverbs 31:28 says, “Her children arise and call her blessed…” We stand up this morning and call you blessed thanks for pouring your lives into ours.
We celebrate your selfless heart
Family is extreme business
You can blame the insanity of your family on your family, but you can blame the obsession of your family on God
God made it so that family occupies your mind twenty four- seven because
God is obsessed with family
THAT’S WHY YOU BRING YOUR FAMILY TO CHURCH WHERE YOU CAN EXPERIENCE REAL LIFE BECAUSE YOU ARE MAKING AN INVESTMENT.
THAT’S WHY YOU SEND YOUR KIDS ON A MISSION TRIP OR TO CHRISTIAN SUMMER CAMP BECAUSE YOU ARE MAKING AN INVESTMENT.
THAT’S WHY YOU GET A DEER STAND, DAD, BECAUSE YOU’RE MAKING AN INVESTMENT.
THAT’S WHY YOU TAKE YOUR DAUGHTER OUT ON DATES, DAD, BECAUSE YOUR MAKING AN INVESTMENT.
THAT’S WHY YOU GO TO THE BALL GAMES, MOM, BECAUSE YOU’RE MAKING AN INVESTMENT.
THE PAYOFF IS NOT IMMEDIATE. THE PAYOFF IS LONG TERM AND IT LEAVES A LEGACY. IT IS NEVER TOO LATE TO START IN YOUR INVESTMENT!

CALLING DOWN THE THUNDER
I declare in Jesus’ name, today is a day for growth. I will embrace the changes you are bringing to my life and will go from deep to deep, glory to glory with you King Jesus. I will not fear the future for you are already there!
CALLING DOWN THE THUNDERHave you ever wanted to call down fire from heaven? I’d be lying if I said I didn’t.
Like the disciples, you and I are tempted to torch our enemies when we are hated because there’s something in us that’s surprised when that happens.
Secretly, we’re all convinced we’re cool. We tend to be shocked when someone else disagrees. I was only 12, but when the old man next door made a rude remark about my “plumber’s syndrome” when I had outgrown a pair of pants, I got a bad case of “I’m gonna get you back.”
As that man called me names, he had no idea that behind my blue eyes were visions of his fields burning to the ground. While I didn’t do that, my friends and I did wait until nightfall. We took white paint and tagged every one of that man’s cattle with derogatory statements on their black hide. Although it is one of my favorite childhood memories, and my friends and I laughed our heads off at the sight of him chasing his cows around with a hose, it was not the right way to handle a hater.
What is? To continue what you are doing for the Lord. Hold tight to your reputation and testimony. Pray for them and keep serving the Lord. Too many people let detractors stop them from their calling. Don’t let that be you.
Take a lesson from Nehemiah. When his enemies came to heckle, mock and even threaten him as he rallied the people to rebuild the wall around Jerusalem, he didn’t get scared or discouraged. He didn’t quit. He armed his people and told them to continue building as he and others kept watch for the enemy to attack.
When your haters come after your reputation, testimony, ministry, family, business or blessings, arm yourself with the Word. Take a page from Nehemiah’s playbook: pray and continue working to please God. His opinion is the only one that matters.
Hear, O our God, for we are despised; turn their reproach on their own heads, and give them as plunder to a land of captivity! Do not cover their iniquity, and do not let their sin be blotted out from before You; for they have provoked You to anger before the builders. So we built the wall, and the entire wall was joined together up to half its height, for the people had a mind to work. -Nehemiah 4:4-6

PARTIAL EYESIGHT
I declare in Jesus’ name that you are working through me to bring me into my identity and purpose. You know who I am. I will cooperate. I am on the same page. I will maintain a posture of integrity and move into my next upgrade.
PARTIAL EYESIGHTWhen you are blessed by God and begin to prosper in business, ministry, relationships, school or whatever endeavor you choose to glorify Him through, you will have haters. People will be jealous and want what you have.
Know this: they have only partial eyesight. They can’t see that, for all your blessings, you’ve had to go through a lot of hell to get what you have. They see your glory, but they don’t see your story.
Here is a great rule of thumb when it comes to being suspicious or envious of those who seem to be better off or more blessed: If the grass looks greener on the other side of the fence, you can be sure their water bill is higher than yours.
This is true in the natural, as well as the spiritual. There is no such thing as a great man or woman of God without great affliction.
Look in the Bible. You don’t find a single awesome person of God who didn’t have a major malfunction to deal with every day. When cursed people see blessed people, they don’t see the price they had to pay each and every day to maintain that blessing.
An overweight person might dislike someone who is fit and in shape, but they don’t consider the choices that skinny person makes every day to look like that. It’s really this simple! If you want what someone else has, be willing to pay the price they paid to get it. If not, change what you want to what you’re willing to pay for.
Want what God has for you. It’s better than what He has for me because it’s something uniquely tailored for your life. If your haters don’t understand this principle and they attack your character and calling, continue to be a purpose-driven person and know you’re in good company. The world hated Jesus and it hates us as Christians because we bear a family resemblance.
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. – Matthew 5:16
TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO CALL YOURSELF BLESSED BECAUSE THE WORLD HATES YOUR SUCCESS. IT FIRST HATED JESUS AND HE CHANGED THE COURSE OF MANKIND. YOU WILL DO GREATER!

WHY SIT HERE UNTIL WE DIE?
I declare in Jesus’ name that You, Father, have a plan for my life and it is good. I will transform my heart, my mind and my mouth to the image of that plan. I say, “YES!” to Your, “Amen!”
WHY SIT HERE UNTIL WE DIE?Change is the only constant. If this old saying is true, and it is, why do you and I resist change so frequently and fervently? Heck, many of us just plain fear change.
That’s not a Kingdom way of thinking. I don’t want to stay the same and neither should you. If you’ve been walking with Jesus for any amount of time, you should have an insatiable thirst for moving forward, increase and upgrade in your life.
I love this verse and it sums up why we need to embrace change and move forward.
“Why sit we here until we die?” – 2 Kings 7:3
This guy has the right idea. Sitting around, resisting change because you fear the future brings nothing but death! Choose to live a powerful life. Choose serving others, bringing heaven to earth and going after upgrade in your relationship with your King.
Has a fear of change kept you from moving forward? Comfort is the enemy of upgrade, so get up, follow Jesus and let Him lead you into some cool places where you can make an eternal impact.
Remember, Father God sees us for all that we can be, not what we are! Be constantly changing for the better as God moves you forward into bigger and better things.
TODAY IS A GREAT DAY TO REPENT OF SITTING ON THE SIDELINES. THROW COMFORT ASIDE FOR GREATNESS AND KNOWING GOD’S WILL FOR YOUR LIFE!
