THE CANCER OF SPIRITUAL ENVY

TODAY’S DECLARATION

I declare in Jesus’ name my Father in heaven has given me good gifts. He has given me a personal Kingdom identity. It is just right for me. It will get me to my destiny!

THE CANCER OF SPIRITUAL ENVY

Unfortunately, the mentality of “it’s not fair” is not just in the world, it is rampant in the church. Folks look at other people’s blessings, abilities and relationships within the church and envy sets in.

While many of the spiritually envious are pew-sitters who should turn off “The View” and get in the trenches with the rest of us, some are not. Some are actively involved in ministry. Their problem? A righteousness mentality.

You see, Jesus told us the two greatest commands are “love God, and love people.” Boom! That’s the formula. However, many churches have wandered away from the second part of that command. They preach “love God, be righteous” without even realizing it! The consequences of this mentality can be devastating.

While righteousness is something we should strive for internally, it can also become a yardstick we use to beat ourselves and others up. If you’re measuring your blessings, abilities and relationships based on the yardstick of righteousness, you will begin to judge and hate other Christians for having more or less than you. It can also lead to bitter gossip and spiritual pride. Believe me, the devil loves that. The book of James says he invented spiritual envy:

“But if you have bitter envy and strife in your hearts, do not glory and lie not against the truth. This wisdom descends not from above, but is earthly, sensual and devilish. For where envy and strife are, there is confusion and every evil work.” – James 3:14-16

Spiritual envy, especially measuring yourself and others by your perceived righteousness, is an ugly cycle from the devil himself. Don’t let yourself go there. Do NOT compare yourself to others.

GOD’S GREAT BIG FAMILY VALUES

TODAY’S DECLARATION

I declare in Jesus’ name I belong at my Heavenly Father’s table. He keeps no record of my wrongs so I will pull up a chair! I am welcome to His amazing provision and presence every day.

GOD’S GREAT BIG FAMILY VALUES

When you become part of this great big family of believers, you also inherit a great big set of family values that come from the heart of the Father Himself.

You learn to make a big deal out of what He makes a big deal out of. As you magnify the Lord, it becomes clear what things you should blow up and bring attention to. You will also understand what things to dial down because the Lord isn’t in them. Remember, not all good things are God things!

There are lots of people who never master the art of upgrade or get the fever for forward. But that’s not you!

Since you are different, it stands to reason you are going to make a big deal out of things others do not, like buying girls out of sexual slavery, or feeding homeless people, or giving backpacks filled with school supplies to kids in your town.

I have found the values of those of us who journey in the fast lane are quite a bit different from the values of the world. You’ll see that too, the longer you walk with Jesus.

Do you remember the lessons of the wilderness?

When you learn the lesson, you learn to have a high priority for the things you were taught – God loves you unconditionally, He provides all your needs and He sees you as an overcomer, not a loser! You are a mighty warrior for good, so jerk that pistol and get to work!

“Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.” – Romans 12:21

A WILD RIDE

TODAY’S DECLARATION

I declare in Jesus’ name, my Father says I have the mind of Christ. No weapon formed against me shall prosper. I purpose to think about what is true, noble, praiseworthy and of good report.

A WILD RIDE

Thoughts progress. They really do! Your thoughts are taking you somewhere whether you realize it or not. The question is, where will you let them take you?

You see, your thoughts become your feelings, and many times, your feelings control your actions. If you are going to be successful in your Christian walk, or any other part of your life for that matter, you need to understand that what you think truly does affect your life.

For I know their works and their thoughts. – Isaiah 66:18

What does God know about your thoughts? Just look at the chapter and verse. The number 66 is double “man” or “carnal.” The number 18 is 3×6, which is triple “man” or “carnal.” In other words, God knows our thoughts, and what He sees is not good.

And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. – Genesis 6:5

God even says your thoughts become your actions, or works, so the question you need to be asking yourself is, “What are my major thought patterns? Are they positive or negative?”

Thoughts become emotions. Emotions, when not taken captive, become your actions. Thinking about something frustrating? If you continue with that thought process, your emotions will become frustrated. Then you will take your frustrations out on others.

If you want to upgrade to the next level of thinking, if you want to truly follow God and reflect Jesus in all you do, you have to work on controlling your thoughts. They really do lead down the road to actions and often, sin. Caught up in negative thought patterns? Stop it!

RR– TREE OF LIFE REVEALED! Times & Seasons in Heaven?

Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2022

Pastor Troy Brewer, OpenDoor Church, Burleson, TX

MOEDIMS – APPOINTED TIMES

Ecclesiastes 3 (Everything Has Its Time) – To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven: 2 A time to be born, And a time to die; A time to plant, And a time to pluck what is planted; 3 A time to kill, And a time to heal; A time to break down, And a time to build up; 4 A time to weep, And a time to laugh; A time to mourn, And a time to dance; 5 A time to cast away stones, And a time to gather stones; A time to embrace, And a time to refrain from embracing; 6 A time to gain, And a time to lose; A time to keep, And a time to throw away; 7 A time to tear, And a time to sew; A time to keep silence, And a time to speak; 8 A time to love, And a time to hate; A time of war, And a time of peace.

BEING OUT OF TIMING:
Ecclesiastes 10:16-17 – Woe to you, O land, when your king is a child, And your princes feast in the morning! 17 Blessed are you, O land, when your king is the son of nobles, And your princes feast at the proper time—For strength and not for drunkenness!

Deuteronomy 28:67 – In the morning you shall say, ‘Oh, that it were evening!’ And at evening you shall say, ‘Oh, that it were morning!’ because of the fear which terrifies your heart, and because of the sight which your eyes see.

FOR THOSE IN TIMING WITH THE LORD:

Revelation 22:1-3 – (The River of Life) And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb. 2 In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. 3 And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall serve Him.

12 MONTHS

TISHREI – THE HEAD OF THE YEAR
Tishrei is the first (1= unity) month on any Jewish calendar, but the Torah consistently refers to it as the seventh (7= fullness, completion, the end of a time period) month, not the first. This disparity is caused by two different calendars. One begins with Creation, what Jews see as the most central event to ever take place. They therefore unhesitatingly call it the first month.
God sees it from an entirely different angle. To Him, the most significant moment in time was the Exodus from Egypt, which opened up the door for the Jews to accept His word as their guide. This is why Nissan, the month in which the Exodus took place, is referred to consistently in the Torah as “the first month.” According to this way of counting, Tishrei is the seventh month of the year.

CHESHVAN – NEW BEGINNINGS
Cheshvan is the second (perfect witness, godly division) month of the Jewish civil calendar counting from Rosh Hashanah and the eighth (new beginnings) month from Nissan, the beginning of the Jewish religious calendar. Cheshvan is the only month with no holidays or feasts. It is a time to move forward into the new year with a fresh zeal from the Days of Awe. Cheshvan is “reserved” for the time of the Messiah, who will inaugurate the Third Temple in the month of Cheshvan.
The great flood in the days of Noah began in Cheshvan 21. One year later on Cheshvan 27, Noah left the ark.

KISLEV – A CELEBRATION OF LIGHT
Kislev is the third (perfect completion, fullness, resurrection, divinity) month on the Jewish civil calendar and the ninth (+ fruit-bearing – judgment over death) month on the Jewish religious calendar. Best known for the holiday of Chanukah (Hanukkah) the eternal power of light over darkness, good over evil. Commemorating the miraculous victory of a small Jewish army led by the Maccabees over the mighty Syrian-Greek empire, Chanukah celebrates the miracle of the oil. When the Jews sought to light the Temple menorah after the war, they found only one small jug of pure oil. Miraculously, the one-day supply burned for eight. During the eight-day festival of Chanukah, Jews worldwide kindle the menorah nightly.

TEVET – GOODNESS AND MERCY SHALL FOLLOW
Tevet is the fourth (creation, the world) month on the civil calendar and the tenth (perfect order, timelines, carrying out God’s plan) month on the Jewish religious calendar. Its name, mentioned in the book of Esther, was acquired in Babylon and shares a root with the Hebrew word tov, meaning “good.” Tevet begins with the last days of Chanukah. By embracing the ever-increasing light of the menorah—the power of good over evil—we are able to reveal the good hidden in our lives and world around us.
Tevet 10 is a fast day commemorating the start of the siege of Jerusalem, which led to the destruction of the First Temple two-and-a-half years later on the ninth of Av. This fast is a cry for God’s mercy, the promise of the end of exile and the coming of the Messiah.

SHEVAT – MAN IS A TREE OF FIELD
Shevat is the fifth (grace) month on the civil calendar and the eleventh (+ heroes rising – judgment over chaos) month on the Jewish religious calendar counting from Nissan. The high point of the month is the holiday “New Year for Trees.” This is the day when the sap begins to rise in the fruit trees in Israel—the start of a new growing season. Jews mark the day by eating fruit, particularly the “Seven Kinds” with which Israel is blessed – wheat, barley, grapes, figs, pomegranates, olives and dates. On this day, they remember “Man is a tree of the field.”

ADAR – DELIVERANCE, JUSTICE AND JOY
Adar is the sixth (man, flesh) month on the Jewish civil calendar and the twelfth (God’s perfect government) on the Jewish religious calendar. “When Adar enters, joy increases,” the Talmud says. This reaches its climax on the 14th of the month, as the Jews celebrate Mordechai and Esther’s triumph over the wicked Haman– a supernatural season of justice.

NISSAN – BEGINNINGS AND FULFILLMENT
According to the Torah, Nissan is the seventh (perfection, fullness, end of cycle) month on the Jewish civil calendar and the first (unity) on Jewish religious calendar. On the first day of Nissan in the year 2448 from creation (1313 BCE), two weeks before the Exodus, God showed Moses the crescent new moon, instructing him regarding the setting of the Jewish calendar. “This month shall be for you the head of months, the first of the months of the year” (Exodus 12:2). This ushered in the first Jewish month and the religious lunar calendar that Jews have followed ever since. According to Rabbi Jonathan Cahn, Jesus was born and died on Nissan 1, His life making a complete circuit fulfilling the feast of Passover.

IYAR – A TIME OF HEALING
Iyar is the eighth (new beginnings) month on the Jewish civil calendar and the second (prefect witness, godly division) month on the religious calendar counting from Nissan. Every day Iyar is included in the Omer counting – the 49 days between Passover and Shavuot (Pentecost). This is a period of introspection as the Jews prepare to receive the Torah anew on Pentecost.
During the Exodus, the Israelites reached a well of bitter water. Moses cast a tree into it and it miraculously became sweet. God then promised if Israel followed Him, “the diseases I have placed on Egypt I will not place upon you, for I am God your Healer.” I-Y-A-R spells the Hebrew word for healing.

SIVAN – GOD WITHIN US
Sivan is the ninth (+ fruit bearing – judgment over death) month on the Jewish civil calendar and the third (perfect completion, fullness, resurrection, divinity) month on the religious calendar. During Sivan, the Jewish people arrived and camped at Mount Sinai (Exodus 19:2). The Hebrew word for “camped” is the verb “vayichan.” Singular, it describes how the entire people camped “as one person, with one heart,” expressing true unity.
In the month of Sivan, the Jews celebrate the Feast of Shavuot, or Pentecost, when the Torah was given by God to the Jewish people on Mount Sinai. Jesus fulfilled this feast in the book of Acts as the 120 in the upper room were indwelled and filled with the Holy Spirit.

TAMMUZ – AND A TIME TO MOURN…
Tammuz is the tenth (perfect order, timelines, carrying out God’s plan) month on the Jewish civil calendar and the fourth (creation, the world) on the religious calendar. The 17th day of Tammuz—a fast day that commemorates when the walls of Jerusalem were breached by the Romans (in 69 C.E.)—marks the beginning of a period known as “The Three Weeks.” This is a mourning period when Jews lament the destruction of the Holy Temple.

AV – YOUR FATHER AND COMFORTER
Av, which means “father” is the eleventh (+heroes rising – judgment over disorder) month on the Jewish civil calendar and the fifth (grace) month on the religious calendar. It is customary to add the name “Menachem,” which means “comforter” or “consoler” – Father who comforts.
America has a 9/11 and so does Israel. On the ninth day of the eleventh Hebrew month, both Temples were destroyed and many other tragedies occurred. Yet our Father in heaven is there to comfort and console them. Av is also the date of a “low point” on the Jewish calendar—the day of the sin of the spies.

ELUL – I AM MY BELOVED’S AND HE IS MINE
As the last month of the Jewish civil year, Elul is traditionally a time of introspection to review one’s deeds and spiritual progress over the past year – as well as prepare for the upcoming “Days of Awe” of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. As the month of “divine mercy and forgiveness,” it is a time to ready as the bride of Christ, looking to the Rapture of the Church and the Marriage Supper of the Lamb.

WHY WILL BE KEEP THE FEASTS FOREVER?

Ecclesiastes 3:11 – He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end.

EVEN DURING THE MILLENNIAL REIGN…

Zechariah 14:16-19 – And it shall come to pass that everyone who is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall go up from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and to keep the Feast of Tabernacles. 17 And it shall be that whichever of the families of the earth do not come up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, on them there will be no rain. 18 If the family of Egypt will not come up and enter in, they shall have no rain; they shall receive the plague with which the Lord strikes the nations who do not come up to keep the Feast of Tabernacles. 19 This shall be the punishment of Egypt and the punishment of all the nations that do not come up to keep the Feast of Tabernacles.

FEASTS ARE A PERMANENT ORDINANCE

Exodus 12:14 ‘So this day shall be to you a memorial; and you shall keep it as a feast to the Lord throughout your generations. You shall keep it as a feast by an everlasting ordinance.

WHY DO WE KEEP THE FEASTS, THE SEASONS AND HIS TIMING EVEN IN ETERNITY? BECAUSE THEY BELONG TO THE LORD!

Leviticus 23:2 – “Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: ‘The feasts of the Lord, which you shall proclaim to be holy convocations, these are My feasts.

FEASTS ARE ABOUT FRUIT! OTHER EXAMPLES OF FRUIT IN THE WORD:

Galatians 5:22-23 – But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

Song of Solomon 4:13-14 – Your inward life is now sprouting, bringing forth fruit. What a beautiful paradise unfolds within you. When I’m near you, I smell aromas of the finest spice, for many clusters of my exquisite fruit now grow within your inner garden. Here are the nine: pomegranates of passion, henna from heaven, spikenard so sweet, saffron shining, fragrant calamus from the cross, sacred cinnamon, branches of scented woods, myrrh, like tears from a tree, and aloe as eagles ascending.

THE BOURNE LEGACY

TODAY’S DECLARATION

I declare in the name of Jesus that my relationship with Jesus is personal and also very public. He made me to share His love and His Word with others. He calls me a “living epistle.” I am a story. Today I testify to Him!

THE BOURNE LEGACY

You were born not just to make it, but to make a way for others to make it.

All of this forward living is not just about you. Promised Land living is a constant awareness of destiny, legacy and leaving a heritage of forward momentum for others to build on.

Yes, like Jesus, we are to be builders and carpenters.

There is an old adage that says, “It is easier to fight for one’s principles than to live up to them.” One day, your life is going to require you to live up to what you’ve fought so hard for.

Life is fighting, pushing, running, overcoming, building, achieving, declaring and pursuing after God. Someday, not too very long from this moment, you will finish your race.

Now don’t start freaking out! You need to know how this works. For you to walk in the power of God, you have to live in the paradox of complete awareness of both your eternity and your short time here.

When you get ready for your big finish, I hope you can be like Paul – able to look back at your fight for forward and say, “Man, I fought a good fight.”

For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time for my departure is near. I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day – and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for His appearing.” – 2 Timothy 4:6-8

Take a good look at this passage. Notice how Paul was not only thinking about himself at the end of his life, but “for all who long for the appearing of Jesus.”

Know this: Paul fought the good fight, and the good fight is one that you win! Yes, you win! So, like Paul, finish the course. Jesus is the prize.

LIFE IS SHORT. LIVE IT WELL.

TODAY’S DECLARATION

I declare in Jesus’ name I have an amazing testimony of the Lord’s goodness. I also have a great big legacy because of His redemption. I will finish well and stand for what matters in life–knowing Jesus–until my first breath of heaven’s fresh air.

LIFE IS SHORT. LIVE IT WELL!

I wonder if I could stand at your funeral and declare certain victory for you the way I did for Paula Ledbetter. Could I stand and speak of your unwavering faith, your selfless service or your dedication to the things that really matter?

I truly hope your funeral is not a sad, boring thing where the best I can say for you is that you liked to play golf, were a part of a union at work, or loved your dog or cat.

The truth is, if your life is all about you and how you can advance your own personal agenda, the world will be better off without you. However, if you have a testimony of redemption, faith and selfless service, the world needs you now, just like it needed Paula.

Who was Paula? She was my friend and my secretary. She cleaned the church, answered the phones, cut everyone’s hair for free, organized our big events, structured the deacon ministry, delivered food to folks without transportation, arranged all my evangelical meetings, helped me with my newspaper column, watched my kids, made my coffee and organized OpenDoor’s mission trips.

She was an outstanding wife and mother who selflessly served and was blessed abundantly. She died several years ago, unexpectedly in her sleep, at the age of 37. She is still greatly missed. And though she may have lost a battle, she won the war!

“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, – Luke 4:18

The fact of the matter is that Paula’s life didn’t end with her death. She had victory over death and it was won for her on a battlefield 2,000 years ago by a champion named Jesus Christ.

What about you? Do you have victory over death? Have you allowed the blood of that champion to cover your sins? If you have not, call out to Him. Jesus is waiting for you to surrender your life to Him. Time is short. None of us is guaranteed tomorrow.

27th ANNIVERSARY & FEAST OF TRUMPETS 5783

Sunday, Sept. 25, 2022 / Elul 29, 5782

Pastor Troy Brewer, OpenDoor Church, Burleson, TX

It’s important to recognize certain dates and celebrate them

1. ANNIVERSARIES ARE ABOUT CELEBRATING WHAT WE HAVE BEFORE GOD

Psalm 68:3 – But let the righteous be glad; let them exult before God; Yes, let them rejoice with gladness.

Psalm 145:7 – They shall eagerly utter the memory of Your abundant goodness And will shout joyfully of Your righteousness.

Jeremiah 30:19 – ‘From them will proceed thanksgiving And the voice of those who celebrate; And I will multiply them and they will not be diminished; I will also honor them and they will not be insignificant

We have a lot to celebrate.

Relationships. Revelation. A spirit of serving and giving a gift of hospitality and mercy.  Forward motion of vision. Accomplishing impossible things with little more than a green light from God and a yes in our spirit.

We are a common people with something extraordinary. God is with us, among us, for us and seen through us. The goodness of the Lord is is made manifest among us and through us. On this day, we celebrate what God has given us in this tribe of misfits and crazy people. Let’s give the Lord a great big praise for the good thing he has trusted us with.

WE ARE STILL HERE. WE’VE NEVER REALLY KNOWN WHAT WE WERE DOING AND GOD HAS HONORED US AND PROSPERED US.

Things unveiled and revealed in God’s presence

Like the number 22 when the light comes on, God says, “Tada!” I think He likes to stamp the number twenty-seven on those things.  Except for specifically when He is

27THE HEART OF THE FATHER

It’s not a very prolific number in the Bible, having only been in there six times, but the term “the candlestick” appears twenty- seven times, and I think it has to do with how “the light comes on” when the presence of God is made manifest.

Abraham is revealed through twenty-seven books in the Bible.
Twenty-seven is the number of generations from David to Christ according to the Gospel of Matthew. (Matthew 1:1- 17). That is when Jesus showed up and went, “Tada!” I AM HERE TO SHOW YOU WHAT THE FATHER LOOKS LIKE

There are twenty-seven books in the New Testament

27 IN HEBREW

Twenty-Seven (kaph-zayin): Ministry of Salvation

The last book of the New Testament, the twenty-seventh book, is the Revelation of Jesus Christ to John and His feast is celebrated on December 27.

And what is twenty-seven? Three to the third power (3 x 3 x 3). It is the revelation of all things Jesus. His candlestick burns bright and He will not remove it because we will not leave our first love.

So, certainly progressive revelation and then light of truth are connected with the number twenty-seven.

BUT AGAIN, I THINK SPECIFICALLY WITH HOW JESUS REVEALS THE HEART OF THE FATHER

THESE ARE THE IMPORTANT QUESTIONS TO ASK:

IS THIS WHAT WE SEE THE FATHER DO?

IS THIS WHO THE FATHER IS TO US?

2. ANNIVERSARIES ARE ABOUT HONORING GOD FOR WHAT HE’S DONE.

How God has moved among and through us:

The Top 10 miracles God has done….

The miracle of this building

The miracles of people getting saved we never would have imagined

The miracle is not that we have given away over 100 million pounds of food to hurting people. The miracle is that we had it to give away.

3. ANNIVERSARIES ARE ABOUT TELLING OTHERS ABOUT GOD

GOD WILL TAKE YOUR LITTLE BIT AND DO GREAT BIG THINGS WITH IT

GOD VALUES RELATIONSHIP OVER FUNCTION AND RESTORATION OVER PUNISHMENT

GOD LOVES THE ORPHAN, THE WIDOW AND THE VOICELESS AND HE WILL BLESS THOSE WHO INCLUDE THEM IN THE ANSWER

THE FEAST OF TRUMPETS 5783Rosh Hashanah

10:32 a.m. CST is sundown Jerusalem time

Just as trumpets were sounded to call God’s people together, the trumpets sounded at the end times are a call for God’s people to remember. They are calling for all people to repent of their sins. They are the sound of anticipation for the return of our Lord.

1 Thess alonians 4:16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.

1 Corinthians 15:51  – Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed–52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.”55 “O Death, where is your sting? O Hell, where is your victory?”

“The sun comes up. The pendulum swings and each new frightening morning brings

The children’s cries the cannon roar more loudly than the day before

The wax of time is drippin’ down from both ends of that candle brightly burning

A mighty shout a trumpet blast when the last is first and the first is last

The world is hushed and time stands still and the final chapter is fulfilled

The sky will part each knee will bow to greet the awesome hour of his returning”

STOP THE MADNESS!

TODAY’S DECLARATION

I declare in Jesus’ name new beginnings are mine. I break off of old “engagements.” I will no longer let feelings and fears rob me of my peace. They are perversions of God’s truth. No matter what happens today, God is with me!

STOP THE MADNESS!

There has to be a place in your accepted wisdom where you recognize the chain of thoughts that lead you away from God.

Once you begin to recognize those mental patterns, you have to break a link in that chain to stop that line of thinking before it proceeds into a feeling. Feelings often escalate into actions and that’s not good.

With every bit of awareness, you have an opportunity to take those “further imaginations” captive – thoughts that take you away from the knowledge of God. This is the place you go to war and freeze those thoughts before they grow into a monster that holds you hostage – an action you cannot take back. This is what Paul was referring to when he wrote:

Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ. – 2 Corinthians 10:5

It is your responsibility to be aware of things without letting that awareness fast forward into sin. This is how you cast down imaginations and thoughts that want to replace, or as the Bible says, “exalt” themselves against the knowledge of God.

Pray about it. Ask God to give you wisdom in your thinking. Verbally commit your mind to the Lord. You don’t have to mentally pursue every thought. In fact, you cannot if you want to have real peace.

THE TASTE OF WATER INTO WINE

TODAY’S DECLARATION

I declare in Jesus’ name God is manifesting Himself to me in a new way. I see just how good He is! I will share His goodness with those around me today and bring Him glory.

THE TASTE OF WATER INTO WINE

Call me crazy, but I think that wine is a huge counterpart to something very supernatural in the kingdom. I guess this makes me somewhat of a Holy Ghost wino.

You see, when it comes to wine, the simplest flavors are the easiest to recognize. Very ripe, jammy fruit and vanilla flavors are perfectly natural for new wine drinkers to relate to. They are familiar and likable. The problem with these “soft drink-like” flavors is they lack complexity.

That’s the way it is with tasting or experiencing God’s presence.

He shows up first in ways that you can easily recognize. But, then He moves you on to much more unique, personal and complex “tasting” or experiences with Him. That’s called “fine wine.”

Complex and fine wines dance in your mouth. They change even as you’re tasting them. Like a good painting, the more you look, the more there is to see. Truly aged wines often evolve from complex into sublime. How long do the flavors linger after you swallow? That’s a good indication of maturity.

Beginning wine drinkers tend to move on too quickly to the next sip when there is a really good, mature wine in the glass. Hold on! Let the wine finish its dance.

Likewise, let the Lord finish His experience with you before you move on to a new encounter. Savor the “flavor” of your encounter with God. He is good. When you encounter Him in different levels as you progress in your relationship with Him, you will truly taste His goodness.

On this mountain the Lord Almighty will prepare a feast of rich food for all peoples, a banquet of aged wine – the best of meats and the finest of wines. – Isaiah 25:6
