Six Sentence Sunday
I'm about 1/3 finished with Araneae, and I have such a crush on this hero.
Exhaling a shaky breath, I continued my procession with my head high and eyes forward.
Isolde's warriors ringed the room. Their armor held a dullness to match their expressions, both having lost their shine long ago. The tallest among them stood two heads above my height of five feet. His black hair brushed broad shoulders, and his eyes, the fierce green of new growth in spring, tracked me with predatory interest that raised goose flesh. He looked…hungry.

Kim Knox – Friction
Kim has a new book out! Woo hoo! I see now that I didn't blog the first in the series, Magnetism, which was simply wrong of me. So I'll attached cover and blurb for it, too. And I'll also add Kim has a new release coming from Carina Press, Synthetic Dreams, which is on par with my love for Gambit and Emergence. I'll blog that once it's available for purchase, but it's such a nifty story. Can't wait to see what the cover looks like for that one.
Book one in the Planetary Bodies series.
Orlena Sol is not meant to be in her room, naked…with her superior officer.
The crew of the CMC Theseus doesn't have sex. At least not with each other. But there's a new hunger in Dareh Andersen and he's looking at Orlena as if she's all too edible. He's ready to fulfill her fantasies, which makes no sense. He's always wanted anyone but her.
Orlena is convinced there's more to his sudden interest. She fears his desire is simply a dream, a lie. Something other, something outside and beyond them is at work…but it's a force she doesn't want to fight.
Book 2 in the Planetary Bodies series.
A deal is a deal.
But when that deal includes appearing in Tomas Thorne's office ready to offer herself for his…consumption, Shan Rayner runs, hides and has no intention of going through with it. That is until she's hit by sheen, a turbulent force from the Uranian lower atmosphere. A force that brings her darkest desires to the surface.
Need swamps Shan and she finds herself outside Tomas' office, all too ready to agree to anything he wants. Absolutely anything.

Six Sentence Sunday
How is it possible this is the first weekend in May? Sheesh.
At this rate, it'll be Christmas before I know it.
"They're beautiful to watch." I complimented her clan's skill, belatedly realizing my gaze had stuck to the same tall warrior, mesmerized by his fluid motions and perfect form. Darkness shrouded his face, and I wished for a moment I could see the expression hidden there. Was his face as flushed as mine? His teeth bared in my same vicious smile? Oh, but that I held a sword.

Storms in Alabama
I'm sure most everyone has seen footage of the tornadoes that savaged the south this weekend, Alabama in particular. Almost my entire extended family lives in the northern portion of the state, so this tragedy hit close to home for me.
Thank God, all my family has reported in. They're all well, minus the loss of an outbuilding here or there. But there are hundreds of families who aren't as lucky.
Please, if you afford to donate even your pocket change, do so. There are several ways to donate to victims of the storm. I'm going to post several options I know of off the top of my head.
God bless the victims and their families. We need to keep our prayers with them.
Money donations for Tuscaloosa tornado relief can be also be mailed to American Red Cross @ 1100 Veterans Memorial Pkwy,Tuscaloosa, AL 35404

The Journey to Conference
Have you ever had a dream come true? Ever wanted to make someone else's dream a reality? Here's your chance.
Taken from Bria Quinlan's website.:
As many of you know, I'm a finalist for RWA's Golden Heart Award in the Young Adult category (YAY!!!!) I honestly cannot think of a bigger pre-published accomplishment than finaling in this. The only downside is, the awards are held in NYC during a week-long conference. It's the only thing that would have gotten me to attend…but there's no way I'm missing it!
For those of you who don't know me, I'm going to share more than I usually would (or feel comfortable doing) – I was laid of from my last "real job" almost 4 years ago. For the first year, I didn't truly panic. I thought "Oh, any second now something will come up." I was the person who turned jobs and contracts down before. I got to pick and choose… But nothing did come up. For the last few years, I've worked retail jobs, but even that market is tight. Seasonal jobs no longer turn into full-time jobs like they used to.
Now I'm writing and working retail and constantly looking for a "real job" that will make ends meet while living in my best guy friends loft. Again, so blessed by the people in my life.
But, I can't afford to go to the conference. And so, in another amazing act of being blessed — people have volunteered their time, energy and resources for an auction to raise money to get me there.
Here is the current list of donated items. If you have a question (or your one of my friends I didn't bother and you'd like to donate something) you can comment here or email me at briaquinlan AT aol.com.
The actual auction starts next Monday, May 2nd.
If you're not up for an auction, another way to support me (and MG Buehrlen) is to check out our Writer's Yardsale store for awesome writerly stuff.
Thank you *everyone* who has pitched in to get me to NYC! I have been so overwhelmed by the responses of people who were putting themselves out there for me.
You can read more about Bria's journey here. The full list of prizes is here.
Me? I'll be keeping my eye on this prize:

Six Sentence Sunday
Happy Easter, everyone! I hope you all get to enjoy some family time today.
Since there was some question about the narrator last week, Araneae is told from my heroine's point of view.
"She's young," Rhys said gruffly. "Hope is a fragile thing, easily crushed."
I stared at him, wondering why his experience sounded personal and curious as to what he'd once wanted and gone without. His tone made me wonder if he considered hope another wasted emotion his clan was better off lacking. Then I wondered how he existed without it.
