Six Sentence Sunday
As expected, I have to swap projects and revisit an old one.
I can't say I mind too much. I love this world.
"This is a dream." When she spoke, their lips brushed. "You're a dream."
"Dreams have no substance." He gripped her hip, molded her to him. "I am substantial."

In the Light of Day by Sasha Devlin
This week on PNRomantics, I'm blogging about trying something new.
My usual reads, and comfort reads, are fantasy or paranormal. So there's a whole lot of unexplored territory out there for me. Sasha Devlin's debut novella, In the Light of Day, comes out first thing in the morning, and I'm going to give it a try. It's m/m, which I've read, contemporary, which I've read, and it's also romantic suspense, which I haven't read except in almost classical examples.
I'm interested to see how Ms. Sasha blends the three together. Who knows? She might make a rom sus believer out of me.
Jaren's birthday weekend isn't going as planned. Instead of being in the arms of the man he fell hard for, he's alone at his lake cabin. With a bottle of wine. When Cooper shows up on his doorstep, all appears right with the world. Until Jaren realizes the real reason Cooper is there.
Cooper didn't mean to fall for someone he was working a case with. And certainly not a man. Cooper always thought he was straight, but posing as gay lovers to infiltrate a pornography ring had felt all too real. Now he has feelings for the sexy younger man. Strong ones. Just as he's prepared to drive to the cabin and give Jaren a birthday in bed he'll never forget, Cooper gets word the criminal they put away has escaped—and is coming after Jaren.
Jaren finally has the man of his dreams where he wants him, but for all the wrong reasons. He can trust Cooper to guard his body, but what about his heart?

Six Sentence Sunday
I'm starting a new project, well, sort of. The characters and idea have been around for a while, but the world just got overhauled.
There's a chance I'll have to drop this and work on the sequel to another book soon, but until then…I'm happy to revisit these characters.
Had she been anywhere other than Astor Street, Lainie could have pretended this trip to the burbs was a pit stop instead of a final destination. As it was, her car idled at the curb before a tidy ranch-style house where an elderly gentleman tended his garden. She tapped her horn, and he glanced her way. Squinting into the sun, his weathered face crinkled in a grin that warmed her from the inside out. He tossed his gloves to the ground, and then waved her forward. And when her tires hit the concrete driveway, they rolled over the imprint of her five-year-old self's hands.

Freelance Editors Wanted
Come grow with us!
We're looking for a few good freelancers to join our team of editors, copyeditors, and proofreaders as we expand our editorial department. All are paid positions (including proofers).
Editors: We're looking for a couple of terrific editors who have experience with substantive and line editing. Do you have a thorough understanding of fiction craft, including plot, characterization, point of view, pacing, etc., including the word-level techniques for crafting professional-quality, contemporary prose? If you have previous editing experience or demonstrated proficiency with the elements of fiction (i.e. as an author, reviewer, educator, etc.) we'd like to talk. Especially if that experience is in electronic publishing.
Copyeditors: We're also looking for a few good wordsmiths who specialize in fiction. If you know the techniques and craft for building top-notch genre and/or literary prose, we're looking for you. If you have experience with non-fiction, scholarly, or technical publishing, we'd also like you to have some demonstrated proficency with creative writing, as fiction has its own specific needs, and CMoS is not the final destination. But you still need to know it. If you're a total word nerd and know when to apply changes for technical correctness and when to stay out of the way of good prose, we have work with your name on it.
Proofreaders: Ever thought you might want to get involved in editing? Or maybe you just love reading good books? If you have an avid interest in fiction, a higher-than-average grasp of grammar, usage, spelling, etc., and a detail-oriented personality (that means you're a perfectionist) then you might be a good fit. You need a sharp eye, the kind that sees what's wrong with things instead of what's good about them, and can spot a typo a mile away. Experience isn't required, but if you have some background in proofing or correcting other people's work–the boss's correspondence, the company newsletter, your students' papers–this could be a fun way to earn a little extra money and perhaps step up into other things.
To be considered for any of these freelance positions, send an email to help@etopia-press.net. Please indicate the position you're interested in, your experience or qualifications, and any genre or other preferences you may have.
For more information, see the website.

Six Sentence Sunday
Here we go again. :)
"How is this not about you?" He said, "I buried the past. You're the one toting a shovel."
"If you were more open with me, I wouldn't have to dig for information on my own."
"What can your knowing possibly change?" His brow wrinkled.
