Six Sentence Sunday

I went supply shopping with DD today. We still have more to buy, but we got the basics. When we hit Target, they had three-pack notebooks for a dime. I.Loaded.Up. I burn through notebooks like crazy, whether I'm plotting, doodling, making notes, doodling, or…um…doodling. I can't write outside of Word, but I think better when I put pencil to paper. Small comforts, huh?

This excerpt is from Dillon's still unnamed book. (Top choices this week include: Evercure, Evercraft, Everything, Eversworn…) Anyway, here's my six.

"And Isabeau?"

She hesitated before turning. "Yes?"

"Take the shirt off." His voice turned hoarse. "Leave the rest."

Kindlegraph, Anyone?

I saw Moira Rogers tweet about Kindlegraphs tonight, and I Googled them. It's a given if she/they tweeted it, it's cool. I just didn't know how cool until I pulled up the Kindlegraph website.

How you do it:

For the author–Click "authors sign up" at the bottom of the page. Then enter your books's Amazon ASIN #

For the reader–Click on the "request Kindlegraph" button. Then register your Kindle and sit back and wait.

What it does:

For the author–It allows you to connect with readers. You're emailed a notification whenever someone requests your autograph.

For the reader–It allows you to connect with authors by getting a personalized message from your favorite authors.

For more information, check out their website.

Six Sentence Sunday

Yet another Sunday rolls around and I still can't pin this book down long enough to name it. It's tricksy.

His glamour twisted minds to suit his whims. I knew. Mine bore the spiral imprint of his amusement. "Here is what I promised you." He slid an envelope into my bag and waited. "Well, aren't you going to open it?"

Dreaming of Evermine by Dawn B.

When I am sick I tend to do my best work. That may sound crazy as it makes my mind all fuzzy and it takes me a long time to process what I need to do, but it is for that reason that I do so well. I have to actually take the time to stop and think about what I am doing. Back in the middle of March Hailey asked me to read Evermine for her. My first instinct was YES! I want it, *gimme now*.  I had to inform her that I was sick, which was both good and bad. It would take me longer than normal to get through the book and get back to her on my thoughts. I also wanted to reread Everlong before I began reading Evermine to have it fresh in my mind.

Well because I was sick I was not getting very much sleep and I very much wanted to sleep badly, but I was up all hours of the night. It gave me plenty of time to read. When I did sleep, after finishing Evermine, that was when the fun stuff began. If you are a fan of the Harry Dresden books by Jim Butcher then you are aware of how he talks with himself in his subconscious. Well I had and out of body experience similar to that. There had been something bothering me about the book, but I couldn't put my finger on it. Instead of driving myself crazy about I thought I would let it go for the moment. I went to sleep, and instead I had a bizarre dream where I talked to myself about the book.

So I am standing in this void. Everything is black. There is nothing in the blackness except one other person. I look over and there I am. Of course there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with seeing yourself and going over and saying "so why are you here".

Then having yourself respond "why I was waiting for you, took you long enough"

Then pondering that statement and saying "well I am here now" and waiting expectantly.

*blinks* *waits* and then "well I know what is wrong, where to look with what's bothering you" Then tilt my head as if considering what I was saying to myself, and wait expectantly for myself to continue. "In Everlong, Maddie smells bad to the mated men" I say to myself. "In Evermine……"

I stop and have a moment of complete clarity, then say "OMG!! You are right that is it. I have to tell Hailey."

I have never had a dream where I talked to myself before. It was so crazy that I had to tell Hailey that the combination of her book and my illness caused me to split in two.  I guess it was my way of breaking the book down and making sure it all made sense. Of course a normal person would probably have taken notes and not felt the need to contact her inner self for enlightenment. Of course that makes absolutely no sense to most people. It was a dream where I talk to myself. It should be expected to have been bizarre. I mean it made sense to both of me and that is what mattered, lol.

Six Sentence Sunday

I knew I had been sick this week, but I didn't realize how sick until I forgot to post SSS. Sorry for the delay. Here is my excerpt.

My claws lengthened and drummed against the half-raised glass, plinking like raindrops on the windowpane. Dillon shook his head as if saying not now, I'm busy. As if I weren't worth his time. A frustrated growl rumbled in my chest as he stiffly set off for the far side of the yard.

Dillon. I hadn't meant to think his name.

Six Sentence Sunday

This was a big news week for me, which means…yeah, I got no new words written. :(

I hope to remedy that tomorrow. Until then, here's more from Dillon and Isabeau.

When his gaze touched me, it had weight, and my shoulders hunched to make me the smallest target possible for his rage. I kept from squeezing my eyes shut but it was a near thing. His anger saturated the air until it reeked of his fury and dangerous intent.

When he reached for me, I stood my ground. I was a weak, but I was not a coward; he would not make me one. Squaring my shoulders, I forced my head up until my gaze held his.

Frost Yourself

Okay, so I'm a writer and not a jeweler or advertising exec, and I might have only watched the movie How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days because Matthew McConaughey is hot, but still. I have some pretty Frostastic news.

I signed a contract with Samhain Publishing for A Hint of Frost yesterday. I am ridiculously excited about this book and I can't wait to share it with y'all. It currently has a June of 2012 release date. I'll post more information as it becomes available. :)

Early Birthday Awesomeness

I received an early birthday present from Vic today, and it is so awesome!

It weighs a ton. Like I could use this as a weapon. Behold!

*cough* Someone should have wiped off their fingerprints first.

It says, "Hailey Edwards, Author Extraordinaire."

This might be my favorite part. WINGS! How awesome is that?

Thank you so much, Vic! This totally made my day. :D

Figment in the Fur

I've blogged before about the BB&B Book Club meeting I'll be speaking at in September (with Moira Rogers! Yay!). I'll be updating once it's confirmed, but the location has changed. The time and date will remain the same. Once the event coordinator lets me know, I'll let y'all know. Anyway, on to the fun stuff. Prizes and swag are starting to show up at my house now, and this item has go to be the most coveted prize. You might recognize her…

It's Figment!

Cute little bugger, isn't she? I overheard plans to kidnap her, so I think DH will have fox guarding duty come September. ;)

Six Sentence Sunday

This week's six is another snippet from Dillon's book.

Happy Fourth to all those celebrating!

He rubbed the membranous film of my wings between his fingers and my knees buckled.

"Remove your hand," I said, breathless, "or you will regret it."

For a moment, he let me think he'd do as I'd asked. He let me curse my mouth for ever having opened. Then he glanced up with silver eyes gone molten, and I wondered if he'd heard me at all.

His lips curved as he said, "I somehow doubt that."
