It's a Contest! Come join!

It is Monday morning--it's my day for the Wranglers, in case you didn't know (from my incessant moaning about having nothing to write...)  and I have...yes, nothing to write. But I do have an idea.

The beginnings of a few of my books are as follows:

It had been sixteen years since he’d seen Arlie Gallagher. And three months and four days. Not that he was counting. (Every Time We Say Goodbye)
Libby Worth taught the primary class at Sunday school when Mrs. Miller wasn’t there, tended bar at A...

Mid-Year Check In

By Jana Richards

Can you believe more than half of 2017 is gone? Some of my Word Wrangler sisters have already done a mid-year check in and now it’s my turn. Sometimes you need to step back and look where you’ve been to see where you’re going.

After vacillating for quite a while, I made the decision to self-publish my three-book series, tentatively titled the “Love in the North Woods” series. Book one of the series is currently with my editor Janet, who is also a good friend. I know she’ll do a...

The Math of an Author Signing

Happy Friday! Today I’m on my way to Peoria, Illinois for the second annual Writers on the River Author Signing event! I’m ecstatic for this event for a few reasons:

1)      My writer friend, Jillian Jacobs, is one of the main organizers. She rocks, and I want to support her as much as she supports her fellow romance authors
2)      It’s a fabulous event with an incredibly responsive group of readers who attend
3)      It...

It's a Mystery...

by Margie Senechal

I love a good intrigue. The Loch Ness monster, Bigfoot, Area 51...which might be why I never get tired of watching National Treasure movies. Please, Nic Cage, can we have another?

When I was a high school reporter, I researched the Bermuda Triangle because I was intrigued by an ocean sinkhole that sucked airplanes from the sky. I still want to believe that it's a gateway to Atlantis where Mayans also exist.

And this week, in a break of politics, NBC brought some good news for...

A New Slippery Rock Book from @AuthorKristina Knight

Hey there, WordWrangler Readers! I have a new release this month - the second in my new Slippery Rock series! It's called Rebel in a Small Town...and I'm so excited about it because two of my favorite tropes are involved: a secret baby and a reunion romance!                                                                    ...

Water and Peace: A Connection

I know this may come as a huge shock to all of you, but the fact is I'm pretty much a pragmatist--a realist. Now don't get me wrong, I'm also a dreamer and a good bit of the time, I infinitely prefer the fictional worlds I or others of my favorite authors create. But I really don't buy all the astrology stuff, even though I pretty much fit the description of your average Libra. Loves harmony, hates confrontation--anyone who knows me will tell you that I'd rather have my gums scraped than have...

The Heart of the Matter

This post is from 2011. I've edited it some, but I'm using it again because Duane and I were just talking about how lucky we were that emotion is such a huge part in whatever art you participate in. I don't think when I wrote this that I understood it was emotion I was talking about. But it was. It was.

Have you ever thought about the "feel" of books? Not just when you’re writing them, but when you’re reading them, too. I know they’re classified, genre-ed, and sub-genre-ed to where there shoul...

Happy Birthday Canada!

2017 marks Canada’s 150th birthday, otherwise known as the Sesquicentennial Anniversary of Canadian Confederation. Usually we only celebrate confederation on Canada Day on July 1, but to mark the anniversary we’re celebrating all year. Nearly every community in the country is planning year-round activities – here’s the list of things to do in Winnipeg in 2017. After all, you only turn 150 once!

The biggest celebrations are reserved for today. While I’ll probably spend a low-key Canada Day, I k...

My To Do List...Not Getting Done

Happy almost July! Don’t know about anyone else. But this means that my family is half-way through Summer Break. Hardly seems possible (and I haven’t told the kids yet), but the beginning of school is looming just ahead in August.

Which means my summer of playing and being unemployed is also coming to an end. Before I’ve really wrapped my arms around all the awesome possibilities available to me. Wahhh!!! I had such high hopes of projects to accomplish. Reorganizing all the digital pictures a...

Word Joy

For the past few months, Jordan has been taking a writing course through a community education program via our local community college. These classes aren't accredited and taught by people who want to share their craft or knowledge.

I've always known Jordan had the potential to be a good, if not great, writer. Her imagination amazes me. Until recently, she channeled her imagination into her drawing. But, even then, she always gave her characters backstories. I knew if she ever put those...
