The Music of Life ~@AuthorKristina Knight

Y'all know by now that music plays a big part in my life. We turn on a playlist or the radio in the morning and the music goes on all day. Some of that music makes it into playlists for my characters and books...some of it makes it on life's playlist and is turned to when setbacks occur, when amazingness happens, when we just need to cry or when no one is around to offer a hug...but there is a song that is as powerful as a hug.

Here are a few favorites:

FUN. carry on: There is something very up...

About ghostwriting...and respect... @Liz Flaherty

Last week, I posted an old article about being a romance writer on Gems in the Attic, a blog penned by a group of authors from Kensington's Precious Gems line back in the 1990s. It made me think of the things people say to and about us, starting with "When are you going to write a real book?", the question I addressed there.

I was going to write about more of those things we're asked, but when Google and I took a walk to look for them, I found this article instead: "5 Things I've Learned...

Me Time

Okay, put up your hand if you can relate to this. You’ve got a free morning and you’re all set to write (or substitute anything else that you want to do for yourself). The phone rings and your child has forgotten something they desperately need for school (or substitute your mother wanting to talk, the dog needing a walk, whatever). And just like that, the time you thought was yours and yours alone is suddenly gone.

Often circumstances beyond our control make it difficult to carve out time for...

Order of Malice Cover Reveal!

My writer peep, Lisa Caviness, just did a cover reveal yesterday for her latest book, Order of Malice. Book Two in her The Order Series, Order of Malice will be available in June, but I wanted to showcase her cover reveal for a few reasons:

She's my peep and I love supporting friends. She writes a wicked-good romantic suspense book (I tell you, it's always the quiet ones you have to keep an eye out for!). And I LOVE this cover.

As a romantic suspense, Lisa has more leeway with her cov...

How Important is the Journal?

by Margie Senechal

I've never been a good journal keeper. My diaries as a teenager were filled with the names of boys I liked and any snip of conversation, "Blank said hi!" And just for the record, how did they expect you to fit anything of substance on five abbreviated lines???

I was never one to write down my feelings or deepest thoughts just in case someone--and I'm looking at you, Deb--happened upon it and exposed me to ridicule--which was deepest, darkest teenage fear.

But, now I wonder if...

On Grandmothers and Love

Add captionMy mommy is visiting this week! So, y'all are getting a repeat...with a couple of additions down at the bottom!
I went to a quilting day at my church today -- before you start thinking I'm among the over 60 crowd, let me tell you I was the youngest woman there by a good 35 years. The ladies were hilarious and I started thinking about my grandma, who has been old for as long as I can remember. I love her, don't get me wrong, but she's the complete opposite of the mother-figure...

Judging a cover by its book

You will notice the layout is really wonky--my apologies; I lost the argument with Blogger and it put the pictures wherever it wanted to. - Liz

A couple of weeks ago, I whined wrote about titles, because mine had been changed. I mentioned covers then, I think, and we've talked about them before. I've told and re-told the story (and possibly attributed it to the wrong person more than once) about marketing taking art facts sheets out on the street and tossing them into the air because the cover...
