@AuthorKristina Knight's new book + a Giveaway
Hey, everyone! It's release week, and I'm super-duper-excited (as I always am!). Famous in a Small Town is the first book in my brand-new series, set in my fictional small town of Slippery Rock. I've wanted to write a small town series for a long time, and I've wanted to write about the kind of place where I grew up for a long time...and so Slippery Rock is the culmination of both of those things - a small, lake town in Missouri, filled with people who (I hope) become as real to you as they h...

...by any other name... @Liz Flaherty
I was startled last week when I found out the wrong way that the title to my December release had been changed. To make a long story short, it was a disconnect between my editor and me that was unintentional and, in the long run, not a big deal.
One thing that makes it not a big deal is the fact that whenever anyone asked me about the original title, my first response was, "Uh..." I couldn't just reel off It Was Written in the Stars. This may have been because my title was too long, altho...

Grinding Away
My friend, fellow writer Karyn Good, wrote a blog this week about perseverance. She talked about being a grinder, someone who puts her head down and gets the work done.I consider myself a grinder. I’m usually pretty good at getting things done. However, lately I’ve been finding it harder and harder to reach the finish line. Some examples:
1. There’s the six or seven partially finished manuscripts languishing on my hard-drive.
2. I’ve got at least three partially read books on my tablet.
3. There...

Moana - Not just a Disney Princess movie
While on my Disney Cruise, I had the opportunity to watch their latest animated release “Moana” on the big screen.
That was a few weeks—and a couple hundred viewings—ago.
It’s an understatement to say that my family is enchanted by this movie. And I think I can pinpoint a few of the reasons why… a few reasons that make this particular movie different from your “normal” Disney animated movie as well as a good study in character and story (yay, I’m finally able to tie a blog post to a writing co...

It's the Little Things...
by Margie SenechalBetween the news, political posts that frequent FB, and the constant deluge of rain that's hit the Pacific NW, it's easy to let life get me down. And, just for the record, I love the rain. It's just that this is the second wettest season in 75 years. I'm ready for the Farmer's Market on a sunny day, working in the yard, and flowers.
So, it's time to find joy in the little things.
In no particular order, here are a few things that have given me moments of glee over the p...

What If I ~ @AuthorKristina Knight
Writing is hard.I know, this is a revelation, one you've never heard before. Right? So I'll repeat it: writing is hard.
And I don't mean just the getting down of the words on paper parts - although that is a whole other kind of hard. I mean the rest of it - wondering if this book will resonate with reads (meaning, will it sell), wondering if you have anything useful to say to readers, dealing with bad reviews, dealing with good reviews, dealing with the 'what ifs' (what if I indie publish? wha...

The icing or the cake?
Writing the romantic moments in a book is like putting the icing on the cake. We write about all the times he says the right thing, she says what she wants without stammering, their touches are electrified with passion, and love arcs between them as they share gazes across their steaming cups of half-caff. As the story progresses, we relate how they rescue each other from things real and imagined, love each other's families, and never spill their wine down the front of their shirts while they...
