DUNKIRK - The Movie and the Book Promotion

Yesterday, the movie DUNKIRK, starring Kenneth Branagh, Mark Rylance, Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, and Harry Styles (making his acting debut), opened in North America. This movie tells the real life story of the miracle evacuation of Allied troops from the coast of France in 1940. The Nazi blitzkrieg had overrun France and Belgium with a speed no one thought possible, trapping four hundred thousand British, Belgian, French and Canadian troops at Dunkirk, with no way to get across the English Ch...

Conference-Bound!

Next week is the RWA National Conference, and I’ll be attending for the first time. I’ve spent a Guess where I'm Going....month carefully planning my outfits for the hot-AF-Orlando-weather-but-mostly-gonna-be-indoors-and-want-to-make-an-impression-while-being-comfortable days. No small task, let me say.

The good news is that I’m packed. And needless to say, I’m excited. And Terrified.
Not terrified as in worried something might happen, but terrified at the prospect of going to such a large conf...

My Epic Love

A lot of movie viewers get excited for a new Star Wars or Star Trek movie, I get excited for a new Planet of the Apes story.

The original movie premiered in 1968. We were in Iceland then, and didn't see it that I remember. I think I finally saw it when it premiered on TV in the seventies after we'd moved back stateside.

One of our local channels, KPTV 12, used to have Planet of the Apes marathons and we'd be glued to the TV. I think that may have been the only Sci-fi my parents actu...

#CoverReveal: Falling for You Anthology

Hey, WordWrangler Readers! I'm super-excited today because we're doing a cover reveal for a fab anthology that I'm lucky to be part of! It's called Falling for You, and it will be out this fall from a group of Harlequin Superromance authors. The best part? These novellas will be part of our on-going series - so for me, that means you get another Slippery Rock book!

My book in the set is called Outsider in a Small Town and features Aiden (Adam's twin, who has been gone from Slippery Rock for a...

About promotion...

Re: last week's contest. Jan Bulawan was the winner, but I have no contact information for her. Jan? If you'll get back to me with your address, I'll send out the prize. Thanks to those who stopped by. We enjoyed reading the beginnings.
***Now, for this week. Let's talk about promotional items. I just ordered my new-to-me thing for the year. What do you think?

It's a small tote bag, approximately 8 x 10 x 4 inches. I hesitated to order them because I wasn't sure they'd be something people used...

I'm Having a .99 cent Sale on FLAWLESS!

I'm doing a little shameless self-promotion today (and probably next week, too). My World War Two romantic suspense FLAWLESS is on sale for .99 cents until July 28. Yay! Here's the blurb:
France, 1942.  The world is at war. The Nazis have stolen the infamous blue diamond, Le Coeur Bleu, intending to barter it for weapons that will destroy the Allies. Jewel thief Hunter Smith is given a choice; help the French Resistance steal back the diamond and avenge the death of his best friend, or st...

Author Signings - The Net Result

Last week, I blogged about the Writers on the River Author Signing I was headed to, with a numbers break-down. So I’m swinging back with recap on the event.

The big news is that, hands-down, this was a fabulous event! Every single author I talked to or overheard said the same thing. It was well-run, the readers were enthusiastic, everyone sold more books than they expected, and the event raised $7,500 for Thistle Farms (a charitable organization that benefits victims of violence, prostitution...

Does Running Late Count As Exercise?

by Margie Senechal

This is what happens when I'm off for an extra day...I'm late.

I have bunco at my house tonight and I've been working on getting my patio presentable because it's bigger than my living room and dining room combined.

And I still have cooking and baking to do. And making some raspberry peach lemonade. Mmmmm. Hope that turns out as good as it looks on Pinterest.

Remember at the beginning of the month and we did our check-ins? I had about 18 books read at that tim...

Movie Pick: You Gotta See Lion ~ @AuthorKristina Knight

I've been meaning to watch the movie "Lion" for a while now, but I could never interest RadioMan (other than a reluctant 'sure, we'll watch that...some time...'). Over the weekend, I saw the movie had arrived on Netflix and decided to watch it on my own.

And I'm both glad and sorry that I did. Mostly glad, ugly cry and all.

About the movie: It's based on a true story ~ Dev Patel's character Saroo we first meet as a five year old boy, tagging along after his older brother as they try to help the...
