Ellen Datlow "Honourable Mentions"
So thrilled! Two of my short stories, "Angel hair" and "Species endangered", make Ellen Datlow's Honourable Mentions List 2017 for Best Horror of The Year volume 10.

Both of these stories were original to my collection Perfect Little Stitches and Other Stories (IFWG Publishing Australia), which was nominated for an Aurealis Award, long-listed for a Bram Stoker Award, and winner of the Australian Shadows Award for "Best Collected Work 2017".
Congratulations to the writers selected for volume 10 and to all those in Ellen Datlow's Honourable Mentions list.

Author interview with Clare Rhoden
Author Clare Rhoden interviews me about my latest release, the horror novel Contrition.
https://clarerhoden.com/2018/09/02/so...
The back-cover blurb of Contrition:
In her late teens, Meredith Berg-Olsen had all the makings of a runway model. Now in her late forties, after everything she had been through – including horrors that John could only guess at – she looked bloodless instead of pale, skeletal instead of slender, more dead than alive…
John Penrose has two secrets. One is the flatmate he keeps hidden from the world: his high-school sweetheart, Meredith. His other secret is the reason he feels compelled to look after her.
Contrition is a horror story with noir undertones and an atmosphere of mounting dread.

"Hair and Teeth" in Aurealis #113
My horror short story, "Hair and Teeth", is published in Aurealis #113, with original artwork by Lynette Watters.
"Aurealis #113 rolls out some red-hot fiction with the raw and confronting ‘Hair and Teeth’ from Deborah Sheldon, the future noir visions of Brad McNaughton in his ‘Wormholes and the Woman with the Fake Tan’, plus the cool brutality of Matt R O’Connor’s ‘Bits’. Our non-fiction hits the heights, too, with Claire Fitzpatrick’s ‘Universal Monsters and the New Age of Fear’ and the second part of Chris Large’s insightful interview with Fantasy legend, Raymond E Feist. And to top it off we have stunning artwork and a constellation of reviews of the latest speculative fiction. If you’re into science fiction, fantasy or horror, it doesn’t get much better than Aurealis."
