"300 Degree Days and Other Stories" is available in paperback
My dark literary collection, "300 Degree Days and Other Stories", is now available in paperback.
https://www.amazon.com/300-Degree-Day...
Back of the book blurb:
Sometimes, the ties that bind are sharp enough to cut. In these eleven stories, set in contemporary Australian suburbia, Deborah Sheldon examines the darker side of family relationships. Unsettling and incisively written, each story of betrayal, envy, loss or bad blood resonates for a long time after reading.
Originally published by award-winning Ginninderra Press, "300 Degree Days and Other Stories" is now available as a reprint through Oscillate Wildly Press.
"Sheldon's stories lift the skin of small, suburban lives to expose the raw nerves beneath. Her writing is intimate, compelling and alarming..." - The Short Review, UK
"I enjoyed '300 Degree Days' for its authentic portrayal of how people behave and respond to challenges in their relationships. It’s not always pretty, but it’s real, and that made it a winner for me." - Whispering Gums

Upcoming UK horror anthology: "DeadCades"
The first "Infernal Clock" horror anthology had 24 stories covering a period of 24 hours. The second anthology, "Calendark: The Infernal Almanac", continued the theme of time with stories set on special dates of the year. Upcoming in October will be the last instalment in the series, "DeadCades", featuring stories set from the 1880s to the 2020s.
I’m happy to announce that my story, “Stagecoach from Castlemaine”, will be kicking off the TOC.

The Horror Tree review of my collection "Perfect Little Stitches and Other Stories"
The Horror Tree is a resource for writers, offering submission information on all the latest horror anthologies and publishers. The Horror Tree also posts articles, news and interviews.
I'm absolutely thrilled with their wonderful review of my horror collection, "Perfect Little Stitches and Other Stories".
The reviewer, UK author Alyson Faye, writes, "Sheldon plays with our expectations, keeps us off kilter, making the normal situations of everyday life topple into the bizarre and dangerous. We are watching through distorted mirrors and playing with shadows. Sheldon is very good at packing in a great deal of detail and terror into a few pages, never outstaying her welcome. This collection should be on every horror reader’s list for 2018."

Guest blog post: "On writing monsters"
MaMa’s Book Corner invited me to write a guest blog post. “On writing monsters” explores some of the techniques I use to conjure up creatures for my horror fiction.
"While film techniques include visuals, sound effects and music to produce goose bumps, no such tools are available to authors. So how does a writer make a monster scary using just words on a page? There are different ways – perhaps as many ways as there are horror writers – but here are a few of my favourite approaches..."
