Guest blog post: "Why I write horror"
Kendall Reviews offers news, reviews and articles on the darker genres. Just published is my guest blog post, "Why I write horror".
An excerpt:
"Horror appeals to me because it is the most authentic type of fiction. It mirrors life as it really is – unfair, unjust, unpredictable, ultimately lethal – rather than the way we wish it could be. Horror fiction is cathartic to read. (Especially once you reach middle age, like me, and life has kicked you in the face a few times.)"

Review of "Contrition" by the Horror Tree
The Horror Tree gives my noir-horror novel Contrition a five-star review. In part, reviewer Alyson Faye writes, “This is a pacy, exciting read with strong horror content and some gruesome scenes which are well written but not for the faint-hearted reader…”

Review of "Contrition" by the Horror Fiction Review
The Horror Fiction Review gives my noir-horror novel, Contrition, a five-star review.
In part, Christine Morgan writes:
"How far would you go to make up for past wrongs? What would you endure to atone for something terrible that happened long ago? How strong is the binding power of love … and guilt … and shame? Is it worth upending your whole life to save someone else’s? Where’s the line between duty/obligation and self-preservation? What would you put yourself through to keep a secret?"

Review of "Contrition" by the Housewife of Horror
Lesley-Ann Hillman of the Housewife of Horror blog gives my noir-horror novel Contrition a wonderful five-star review. In part, she writes:
"Contrition, by Deborah Sheldon, is one of those books that once started on, you just cannot put down... The pace is very fast, there is always something happening or about to happen and we are never quite sure what. I knew the payoff would be worth it, and quite frankly, the ending is brilliant..."
