The Horror Tree "Video Refresh" series
Very cool! As part of its "Video Refresh" series, the Horror Tree revisits its 2018 interview with me. Excerpted from my chat with interviewer, Alyson Faye, the video highlights my start in fiction and my love of horror. (Video by JD Blackrose.)

My horror poem to be published in 2020
My first foray into poetry has been accepted for publication. Very pleased!
AntipodeanSF, the online spec-fic magazine that has been showcasing original science-fiction, fantasy and horror stories since 1998, plans to publish my sonnet, “The Sea Will Have”, in February 2020.
"The Sea Will Have" is based on my short story "What the Sea Wants", which was first published in SQ Mag (2016) and nominated for an Australian Shadows Award for Short Fiction. The story was also included in my award-winning collection Perfect Little Stitches and Other Stories (IFWG Publishing Australia, 2017).

My anthology to be published in 2021
In August 2019, I successfully pitched my anthology idea to IFWG Publishing Australia, and this week signed the contract! From the press release on their website:
IFWG is excited to announce the signing of Deborah Sheldon’s editing services for a premium horror anthology to be published in 2021. It will consist of four commissioned short fiction pieces by A-grade Australian authors, and the remainder will be populated with stories from a call-out to Australian horror fiction writers in 2020. The cover art, design, and illustrations that will be included in the anthology, will be commissioned from Australian artists.
We are still lining the ducks needed to get the project solidly set up, so the detail is, by necessity, scarce right now, but we will feed more information in coming months, including title, theme, call-out information, the names of the commissioned authors, and much, much more.

Severed Press publishes my latest novel: Body Farm Z
Exciting news! Iconic Australian publisher, Severed Press, has released my latest horror novel, Body Farm Z.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07...
The back-cover blurb:
To solve murders, you must understand the process of decomposition. Australia’s newest body farm, the Victorian Taphonomic Experimental Research Institute, is hidden in bushland some four hours’ drive from Melbourne. Scattered across its 150 acres are human donor cadavers and pig carcasses arranged to mimic some of the ways in which police might find murder victims: exposed to the elements, buried in a shallow grave, wrapped in tarpaulin. Forensic scientists and graduate students meticulously track each stage of putrefaction.
Today, Detective Rick Evans of the Homicide Squad is at VITERI for the re-creation of one of his cold cases. A human donor will be locked inside a car. But the donor has other ideas... So begins a facility-wide outbreak of the reanimated dead.

Aurealis magazine reviews Perfect Little Stitches and Other Stories
Aurealis #123 includes a terrific review of my award-winning collection Perfect Little Stitches and Other Stories.
In part, Megan Kelly writes, “The book is a skilfully disjointed read that provides endless variety… Perfect Little Stitches exudes terror and trepidation. It is an ideal collection for horror fans looking for a rapid fright.”
