I made it into the Bram Stoker Awards 2017 Preliminary Ballot!

I'm absolutely thrilled to announce that my horror collection, "Perfect Little Stitches and Other Stories" (IFWG Publishing Australia), has made it into the preliminary "Bram Stoker Award" 2017 ballot for Superior Achievement in a Fiction Collection.
There are ten other titles vying for the shortlist in my category. I'm up against Joe Hill, among other industry heavyweights! Just to be mentioned on the same page is a tremendous honour.
And a very hearty congratulations to Aussie and Kiwi authors Alan Baxter, Lee Murray and Dan Rabarts who made the preliminary list in their categories. Check out their work here:

The end of Goodreads giveaways

For some time now, I have used the Goodreads Giveaway program to gift one of my titles every couple of months. Unfortunately, the giveaway of my novella, "The Long Shot", was my last.
Effective January 9th 2018, the Goodreads Giveaway program is available only to US entrants, and costs the organiser of the giveaway either US$119 or US$599 per title (depending on the package) to run. You can view the full terms and conditions here: https://www.goodreads.com/help/list/g...
So from now on, I will run ebook giveaways exclusive to my newsletter subscribers. Please visit http://deborahsheldon.wordpress.com, and browse the titles. I have a range of traditionally-published collections, novellas and novels across the darker spectrum of horror, crime and noir. If you're interested, the sign-up button for my newsletter is on the homepage.
The odds of winning will be much better than on Goodreads! Thanks, and I hope you'll consider becoming a subscriber.

"Thylacines" available now in paperback

New from Severed Press, my horror novella, "Thylacines", is now available in paperback.

The Tasmanian tiger, or thylacine, was hunted to extinction some eighty years ago. Now, Professor Rosie Giuliani and her staff at The Resurrection Lab have done the impossible: created a living, breathing litter from a preserved specimen. Yet Rosie can’t share this scientific breakthrough with the world. The cloned animals are more like monsters than thylacines. By chance, a small band of activists hears about the caged litter, and their decision to free the tigers will unleash a deadly havoc upon the campus of Fraser University.

Cover reveal: my horror novel "Contrition"

Hot off the press, IFWG Publishing Australia has released the cover for my upcoming horror novel, "Contrition". Marvellous work by Stoker winning illustrator, Greg Chapman. Publication date is June 2018.

"In her late teens, Meredith Berg-Olsen had had all the makings of a runway model. Now in her late forties, after everything she had been through – including horrors that John could only guess at – she looked bloodless instead of pale, skeletal instead of slender, more dead than alive..."

John Penrose has two secrets. One is the flatmate he keeps hidden from the world: his high-school sweetheart, Meredith. His other secret is the reason he feels compelled to look after her.

"Contrition" is a horror story with noir undertones and an atmosphere of mounting dread.

My latest interview with Fiona Mcvie

Fiona Mcvie is fascinated by the writing process; so much so, that she has accrued more than 4000 interviews with writers over the years!

She first interviewed me in 2014, but kindly invited me back to talk about my upcoming releases in 2018: the horror novella "Thylacines", the horror novel "Contrition", and the dark literary collection "300 Degree Days and Other Stories".
