Containing Malice – Final Scene Of The First Chapter
Containing Malice releases next week! Woot!
This week, I’m sharing the fourth and final scene in itsfirst chapter.

“The skin covering your cheeks.” Her hands shifted higher.“Your nose.” She traced his primitive profile. “Your brow.” She smoothed hisblack eyebrows. “Your forehead is also dark.”
His lips had flattened into a grim white line.
She wanted to kiss that flesh. Badly.
When she was first assigned to him, she told herself shedesired him because she was lonely, because she was hungry for touch, forcontact with another being.
Before the beings on her planet had lost their battleagainst the Humanoid Alliance, before she’d been taken prisoner, she’d enjoyedbrief encounters with male medics, with others. She loved sex, loved kisses andcaresses and having a hard cock inside her.
But her attraction to Malice had been extreme, had made herprevious wantings seem shallow by comparison. And she didn’t feel any connectionwith Valor, the E Model cyborg.
Malice was the only male who interested her. She lifted hishead, felt along the back of his skull, searching for injuries. His warm breathwafted against her flight suit-covered breasts, permeating the fabric,spreading over her skin.
Stars. She yearned for him.
Her toes curled in her boots.
She released him. Their gazes met.
His eyes were excitingly wild. His nostrils were flared.
Could he smell her need? Her face heated and she lowered hergaze.
Her eyes widened.
The cyborg was fully erect now. His long, thick cock juttedfrom his hairless base.
She swallowed. Hard. “Your breeding programs are functioningproperly.”
It wasn’t the first or the three hundredth time she’d seenhim in that state. Yet it always left an impact on her. She dreamed of him overrest cycles, woke needy and wet.
It was shameful. A medic shouldn’t react that way.
She yanked her hands away from him and straightened. “Therepairs should temporarily decrease the nanocybotics count.” She extracted herhandheld from her pocket again. “I’m performing a scan to verify this.” Shegazed down at the handheld’s small screen, using the moment to control herunseemly desire. “The nanocybotics count has decreased.”
Malice glowered at her.
If she stayed where she was, she’d kiss the fury off hishandsome face. That would be wrong, wrong, wrong. She hurried to the bottom ofthe sleeping support.
His feet were bare, were as large as the rest of him. TheHumanoid Alliance kept the cyborgs naked when they weren’t fighting. She’dnever seen Malice don the body armor and boots stored for him in a nearbychamber. Yet there wasn’t a single scar or callous on his soles.
“I’m testing range of motion.” That could be done withsimply running diagnostics on him. He was a cyborg. His systems tracked that information.
But that would be completed quickly.
She set the handheld on the sleeping support by his rightleg. The moving of the device was deliberate. If the Humanoid Alliance beingswere accustomed to her putting her equipment down often, they might not notice,in the future, when she didn’t retrieve it.
Illona had spent almost a solar cycle planning the cyborgs’escapes, had tried to think of everything they might need, everything she mighthave to supply to them.
They would only be given one opportunity. She couldn’tbungle it.
“I’m testing your largest toe on your right foot.” Sheclasped the tip of his toe between her right thumb and index finger. “I’mbending it as far as possible downward.”
The range of motion tests, if she was thorough, should eatup almost half a shift.
That was time she wouldn’t have to spend inflicting pain onMalice.

Illona will take that risk to ensure he survives.

Cynthia Sax Weekly Update – January 24th
I’ve completed the second AND the (quick) third draft ofUnder Strain (releasing in May) and have sent it to my awesome editor.
I love Strain. He is delightfully damaged. His female is intriguinglyunusual (she IS human but she has been isolated on a planet for a long time andthat has changed her) and she is his perfect match. They are wonderful together.I think you’ll greatly enjoy this story.
This upcoming week, I’m working on the next collection for C.S.Sax. Medieval Beast Shifters will likely be releasing at the (dragon) tail endof March. The first story I’m revising has a unicorn shifting hero. It is somuch fun.

The Cyborg Sizzle Rebellion Omnibus And Sales Of Collections
The Cyborg Sizzle Rebellion Omnibus released on Tuesday.This is my second single author (That author is me. – grins) collection andsome writing buddies have asked me if it is worth the time and effort and moneyto release them.
If the goal is immediate sales, the answer is a resoundingno. (laughs)
I’ve heard about how Kobo readers LOVE collections and other‘myths.’ My results don’t show that. My omnibuses sell WORSE at Kobo than atany other booksellers.
(I haven’t slashed the prices and promoted the omnibusesthrough BookBub, however. And I doubt I will do that. I prefer BookBub featuremy individual stories.)
On the upside, I’ve met a few new-to-me readers throughthese omnibuses and I really like having all the stories in one place, in theCyborg Romance Continuum. The omnibuses will allow future reading buddies tocatch up easily. The covers, designed by the oh-so-talented Amanda Kelsey fromRazzle Dazzle Design, are also wonderful. I love looking at them.

Containing Malice And Human Baddies
A reading buddy asked me why the baddies in my stories arealmost always human.
It makes sense that if a being was to manufacture a warrior,they’d create him/her in their own image. The expected image for cyborgs is human.
It was also logical, for me, that they would experiment with other species in their quest to manufacture the perfect warrior. That is why the creators of the modified humanoids (in the Dark Thoughts/Refuge series) are the same humans.
Are there bad non-humans in the universe? Of course, thereare, and I hope to eventually explore these very different baddies.
But in the Rebel Cyborg series, the baddies will continue tobe human.

Containing Malice And Enemies-To-Lovers In Cyborg/Alien Romance
Containing Malice is an enemies-to-lovers romance…using thecyborg romance/alien romance definition of it.
I have to constantly remind myself to add that last explanationbecause the enemies-to-lovers trope is VERY different in other romance subgenres.
In many of those other subgenres, the hate directed at thelove interest is often personal. The hero or heroine hates the other person forwho they are, what they’ve done or said or implied.
In cyborg and alien romance, the love interests have often decidedthey hated each other long before they knew the other individual(s) existed. Theyhate the love interest’s species or affiliation or planet of origin and theyhave good reason to do so.
Often the two factions have been at war. Loved ones have beenkilled by the other faction. There’s pain and hurt and anger and this isdirected at ALL members of that faction.
The love interest is originally seen as merely arepresentation of his/her species or affiliation or planet of origin. They arenot viewed as individuals…at first.
This is TRUE enemies-to-lovers. The love interests are onopposite sides of actual fight-to-the-death battles, staring across enemy lines.
They then find out they are more similar than different.Their ‘enemy’ has as valid a reason for fighting as they do. I love that partof a story, when they realize that hey, maybe they shouldn’t be trying to killthe other being. (grins) It is magical.

This week I’m sharing the third scene of that first chapter.

Malice’s fingers were folded into tight fists. His muscleswere flexed tight. His brilliant blue eyes blazed with unabashed rage.
Most of the anger was directed at her. The cyborg hated herwith breathtaking ferocity.
She wanted him with an equivalent passion. Her nipplestightened. Her pussy grew wet.
From the first moment she saw him, she had desired him.
Any female would respond that way to him.
He was a warrior in his prime. His skin was the gray ofpolished metal. His black hair absorbed the light. His naked form was huge andhoned, without a single scar or blemish. He was beautiful and deadly, and hecould kill her without much effort.
If he was free, if the specially crafted sleeping supportwasn’t stunning the cyborg at regular intervals, immobilizing him, shesuspected he would do exactly that. He would tear her to pieces, vent hisanimosity on her.
And she would deserve that death. Her role was to experimenton him, learn his secrets, torture him over and over again, never allowing himto die but ensuring he wished for that fate.
She had little choice about that. If she refused to cut himopen, to poke around his brain, his processors, his body, she’d be killed. Thenext medic might inflict lasting damage on him. That being might not care ifMalice lived or died.
His chances of escape would be greatly reduced.
Illona extracted a handheld from one of her jacket’s pockets.“How is my test subject doing this planet rotation?”
Malice glared at her.
The flippant words irritated her also, but they werenecessary. The chamber was equipped with monitoring equipment. In the future,if she needed to pass messages verbally to the cyborg, that information wouldbe hidden within the flow of chatter.
And she liked talking to him. Her communications withother beings were limited to the reports she sent to the Humanoid Allianceevery five planet rotations, her horrid interactions with Picton, and thebriefest of interludes with Medic Febris.
She scanned the cyborg’s massive form. “All your primary systemsare fully functional.” She moved closer to him, unable to maintain aprofessional distance from the male. “There are some dark patches on yourshins.” She slipped her handheld into her pocket. “That signals bruising.” She skimmedher fingertips over his bare skin.
The scans had indicated his frame was intact. It would takemuch more than a reprimand stick to damage it. And if that rare event happened,the nanocybotics in Malice’s physique would quickly repair him.
But solar cycles of tending to humans and humanoids underdevice-limited circumstances had created the habit of physically verifyingbones weren’t broken.
Plus, she liked touching him.
Malice liked her touching him also…although he would neveradmit that.
His cock twitched and his knuckles whitened.
His response was due to her being female. Cyborgs wereoriginally manufactured to fight and to breed. The breeding programs weren’tsuccessful, but the instincts remained.
He would react to any viable partner. His hatred of herwouldn’t interrupt that programming.
“There are more dark patches on your knees.” She pressedagainst his kneecaps. The male’s form was unrelenting.
That excited her and it shouldn’t. She was his medic.
And he was restrained, couldn’t refuse her advances.
Illona continued her examination. Slowly. The longer shetook to examine Malice, the shorter the duration she had to experiment on him.
She hated taking apart his fine form. Each incision slicedinto her soul. She was a medic, not a scientist, was trained to heal beings,not dissect them.
If she was successful, that torture would soon end. As wouldhis abuse at Picton’s brutish hands. The guard had beaten him thoroughly. Thebruising was especially dark over his groin. Malice was repairing but it musthave hurt him.
She verbally noted each visible dark stretch of skin. Hisabs rippled under her palms. He was appealingly warm, almost melting the iceinside her.
Three beeps echoed in the chamber. She removed her handsfrom his form.
Malice opened his mouth as though to speak. His bodyconvulsed, silencing whatever he was planning to say. The cyborg became stillonce more, stunned into immobility.
Only his eyes moved. They were devoid of all organics andthey glowed with emotion, expressing his frustration, his anger, his unwantedneed.
Illona leaned over him to look closer at his face.
“The skin over your jaw and chin is very dark.” The impactof those strikes would have broken his bones if he had been human. She caressedMalice’s jaw back and forth, back and forth.
A rumble rose from his chest. Energy flashed in his eyes.

Cynthia Sax Weekly Update – January 17th
I am exactly halfway through the second draft of Under Strainand I think you’ll really love this story. Strain is deliciously damaged andhis heroine is truly unique. They are an unusual couple but they truly work!

Containing Malice And Zombies
Containing Malice features the Humanoid Alliance’s versionof super fast zombies. (grins)
Reanimating the dead has been referred to in previousstories. It is seen as a fate worse than permanent death.
In Containing Malice, we find out more about these experiments.
Why would the Humanoid Alliance bring back the dead? Wouldn’tit be easier to craft beings from nothing?
Reanimating an enemy’s dead to fight that enemy would appealto the Humanoid Alliance’s cruel natures. And it might be economical for them.They can merely infect the fallen and replenish their fighting forces that way.There would be no need for transportation or manufacturing.
But I also believe the Humanoid Alliance is searching for whatmany humans have strived for centuries to find – eternal life. These experimentscould bring them one step closer to accomplishing this feat.
