Containing Malice And Valor

Some reading buddies (tackle hugs) have asked me if we willhave Valor’s story. Valor is the being-loving, super protective E Model best buddyof Malice. He wants love. Yes. But he wants to give love even more.

His story WILL be told. I merely haven’t figured out when or how. His story could be the free short story in December. Or he could have a longer story in an upcoming series. Or his could be a secondary romance in some other cyborg’s main story. I don’t know.

Why don’t I know?

Because it hasn’t ‘happened’ yet. He hasn’t met his female.I don’t know if she has a big story or a long story. I can’t yet ‘see’ it in myhead.

Until I ‘see’ it, I won’t know.

But I DO know his story will happen. He deserves love…as weall do.

Containing Malice And Best Friends

Friendships, I believe, give us some of the skills thatallow us to make romantic relationships last. Most of the cyborgs in my storieshave friends. Often these friends are their brethren, their fellow cyborgs.

Malice’s best friend is Valor.

At first glance, these two warriors seem intriguingly mismatched. Malice is a primitive, silent, angry C Model. Valor is a more socially savvy, extremely talkative, optimistic E Model.

But they work. Malice stops Valor from embracing beings he shouldn’t trust. Valor pushes Malice to have more faith in beings and to talk more, to express himself. (This ‘training’ helps Malice communicate more easily with his female.)

They truly love each other, would do anything for the otherwarrior. That makes me smile.

Cynthia Sax Weekly Update – January 31st

I finished the revisions of the first short(er) story in the Medieval Beast Shifter omnibus (releasing under C.S. Sax in March). It featured a unicorn shifter hero and is SO much fun.

This upcoming week, I’m revising the second story. Itfeatures a phoenix shifter hero and a fire sorceress. (grins) It will be ablast also!

But the BIG news is Containing Malice is releasing on Tuesday!Yay! I think you’ll really enjoy this first story in the Rebel Cyborgs series. Maliceis very angry and a bit damaged. Illona is very damaged and a bit angry. Theyare magical together. We’ll learn more about Cadet and the Rebel Cyborgs. Therewill be a couple mentions of Power and a hint at the conflict he faces withCadet.

This is a great week to stay at home and read. Not that wetruly need an excuse to do that. (laughs) Have an awesome week, my friends!

Containing Malice And Before Release Rituals

Containing Malice releases on Tuesday! Woot!

I’m super excited, can’t wait to hear what you think of thisnew cyborg romance story and series.

While I wait, (having completed my revisions for the unicorn shifter short story this week) there are a few things I usually do before a book releases.

I craft my newsletter. This will be sent out on Tuesday, Release Day, and will feature some fun facts about Containing Malice and some VERY bad jokes.I eat chocolate. Well…I always eat chocolate. That is one of my key food groups and it fuels my muse. But I eat more of it than I usually do.I worry I haven’t uploaded the finished copy to Amazon and other booksellers. I HAVE uploaded it. I’ve checked it a gazillion times. And if I haven’t done this by now, it is much too late. The story is locked at booksellers. But I worry because…that’s what I do.I re-read the story about to release and find a gazillion typos I can’t correct because the story is locked. This happens EVERY time. There are no error-free stories out there. None. Yet I will torment myself by looking for these errors much too late. (grins)I will look at pre-orders. If pre-orders are lower than they are for the previous story, I will often not-so-stealthily reach out to reading buddies (I know almost EVERYONE who reads and pre-orders my stories. Many of you have been with me from Releasing Rage or prior stories and you are part of my family.). If pre-orders are higher, I try not to do this. I know everyone is super busy and I also know you will reach out to me if you want to chat.I eat more chocolate. (grins) And I bake brownies. I will often send some to my Awesome In-laws. The Dear Wonderful Hubby’s youngest brother loves the brownies.

Containing Malice And The Pandemic

Some writing buddies and I were discussing the impact the pandemichad and is having on our writing. I shared that Containing Malice was definitelyinfluenced by the Great Pause.

I had envisioned this first story in the Rebel Cyborgsseries being set in an underground laboratory years before COVID-19 happened. Undergroundlaboratories are super cool. (grins) Of course, I would want to set a storythere.

But being confined to my own home during the pandemic gave mea tiny glimpse into what Illona, Malice, Valor and Febris were dealing with. Ididn’t have total freedom of movement. The outside was a bit scary, was thegreat unknown. I felt restricted and confined.

Having experienced that made writing this story easier insome ways. I had a taste of what they were enduring. But more difficult inother ways. It was more real for me, more emotional.

I hope you feel that emotion in this story and it adds toyour enjoyment of it.

Throwback Thursday – Breathing Vapor

Breathing Vapor, my second published Cyborg Romance, iscurrently 99 cents everywhere!

I think of Vapor as my assassin cyborg. He is a newer Model, is all about stealth, about silently slipping in and out of places he shouldn’t be. This includes Mira’s arms.

She’s the daughter of the Designer, one of Vapor’s most hated enemies. At first glance, she appears to be as evil as her father. But she has secrets also and one of these secrets is her courageous, right-wronging nature.

Breathing Vapor

Vapor is the most advanced cyborg the Humanoid Alliance has ever developed. He’s a finely honed weapon, a warrior without parallel, half man and half machine. No lock can contain him. No being can stop him. Whatever he wants, he takes.

He wants Mira Breazeal, the Designer’s daughter.

She’s his one temptation, his sexy target. Vapor shouldn’t crave her caresses, steal her kisses, make her scream with ecstasy. The cyborgs want her dead and they would question his loyalty if he didn’t kill her. The humans would shoot him on sight if he dared to touch her.

Their love is forbidden. Their desire could be lethal. One human and one cyborg will risk everything for a moment of passion.

Containing Malice, Releasing Rage And Tone

I believe Containing Malice, my next cyborg romance release,and Releasing Rage, my first cyborg romance release, are similar in tone.

Malice, like Rage, has very little hope for the future. Hehas been cut off from the rest of the universe and doesn’t realize his brethrenare free. He doesn’t know cyborgs have genetic matches, that the feelings hehas for his enemy is due to her being his female, the one being he is meant tobe with. He has no idea offspring are possible for cyborgs.

He’s angry and frustrated and he thinks the most he could askfor in life is freedom and the satisfaction of revenge against his enemies (includingIllona).

Malice and Rage are, of course, different beings. Malicereacts differently from Rage to the revelations and to his growing feelingstoward one of his enemies.

Containing Malice is a unique story, is in no way Releasing Rage revisited. But it DOES have the same darker tone to it. And I really like that about this story.
